For me: COOKING is the most important skill. It is a survival skill. It's a financial skill. It's a health skill. It's a social skill. It's a family skill. A single skill. It is really important not matter where you are in life.
Definitely, and it’s something we need every day and multiple times daily. It saves money, can improve your health, and is wonderful human connector. I’ve alway enjoyed cooking and it’s a life lesson. My greatest lesson was cooking for large groups of people in a Buddhist community. It taught me to cook efficiently and cooking for my family after this experience has made it easier. It’s an art form and is continually recreated with the knowledge you’ve gained previously.
@@sobean9309 Prior to cooking for the community as ‘Tenzo’, I had always enjoyed cooking. Cooking for a large group is on another level and somewhat different. Large quantities cook differently. Slower to start and harder to halt when going. In my case, the meals were quite simple, soups, curries and salads. Every retreat we would cook a vegetarian lasagna for dinner at the end of day 3 of 7. This was the hardest day generally for the participants and would provide great comfort. My main tip is to keep it simple. When I was more ambitious, I would stress more and it would show in the food. Employing several ‘choppers’ also assisted well. There’s a book written by Dogen, Instructions for The Cook. It speaks about the state of mind when cooking. Funnily, as I became busier in the kitchen, and unable to sit in Zazen as much, I found that I was meditating just as much in this work. I recommend a few books which I drew recipes from: The Tassahara Recipe Book, The Zen Monastery Cookbook by Cheri Huber, and 3 Bowls. These also speak about community cooking practice. _()_

I would also add cooking. Especially healthy cooking. I know it doesn't exactly fit in this list since it is more of a very practical skill. But knowing what's good for you and how to get it on the table for you and your family will absolutely improve your health and quality of life.
Hi I just wanted to say that at the begging of the year my teacher encouraged me to participate to a public speaking competition I didn’t know what it was and I’m an introvert after a lot of hard work I’ve done I won the first place 🥇🤩🥳
Loved this video, lots of helpful content. I had to run away from home at 17, I’m 22 and life still feels relentlessly confusing, extremely difficult and like I’ll always be drowning. I’m disabled so it feels extra hard, teaching myself everything I wasn’t taught growing up. I hope I can figure out a way to make this things possible for myself
I know it’s probably the least important thing about the video, but I love the little Elsa moment 😂 your doggo is the cutest! Very useful skills, we can all benefit from them, despite our different paths in life. Thank you 🙏🤍
hehe riight so adorable! hey btw, i recently started my own channel where i talk a lot about self growth, nutrition and all things life, if u wanna check it out☺️
Definitely not the skills typically shared in these types of videos-honestly these are all so critical. The ability to self-soothe will, by itself, change a person's life.
Learn how to learn is good, but there is still one skill what I struggle to master - how actually do things, even when you know how to do them there is some procedures what help to organize workflow and motivation - but I have not yet learn that.
One that helped me a lot from my teen years moving forward was typing "the correct way". Ever since I learned it, like 15 years ago, I've had a 70-80 words per minute average when typing. So helpful when taking notes and just writing in general.
yes thats so true! hey btw, i recently started my own channel where i talk a lot about self growth, nutrition and all things life, if u wanna check it out☺️
I was wondering where I knew that accent from until I saw you scold the dog in Portuguese 😂 Muito sucesso Mariana, também sou brasileira e é muito bom ver o pessoal daqui produzindo conteúdo de qualidade 🥰
Thank you for this video. I especially loved that you talked about self soothing, in the context of people who do not necessarily have access to professional help. It is such an important skill to be able to manage your emotions in stressful situations and in daily life. Ps. I absolutely agree with basic legal skills being a necessity. That's why I took my law degree as a working adult.

Public speaking is such an underrated skill and so important to help with networking and getting out of your comfort zone. Love this list 💛

How are you doing?

Cooking healthy is important
It should be number one! 🇧🇷😌
I was going to post the exact same thing! It's one of the most valuable skill in life, anywhere anytime.
I would put this under personal finance. In my experience people don't know how to shop effectively for a good diet, without a lot of food waste.
That is the most important thing in my opinion
