    I love this series because it's more real and in-depth. You learn more about Anne's past and why she is as she is. It's not sugar coated and that makes for a great show. Too many people want sugar coated fairytales.

      This series is another writer's imagined interpretation of Anne's personality and mannerisms through a modern lens, and a possible explanation of a backstory that may have led her there, beyond (and even contrary to) what we know from the books.

    Really great review of this show. Well said. My fifteen-year-old daughter turn me on to the first season and I'm halfway through the second season now. I try to watch one episode at a time and let it sink in but yeah I appreciate how they don't sugarcoat stuff and keep it real as possible. Even though it's painful especially the racism part it's refreshing to see Drama TV showing so much reality. Respect

      @Maijolin1 6 лет назад +16

      Raychristofer I think the went rather light on the racism part. which is understandable; since the show is also aimed at a younger audience, too. So we learn about it though Gilberts Journey.

      Maijolin yeah, I can only imagine what it must have been like back then for a good person to have to endure that their whole life. One thing I didn't see when I made this original comment because I hadn't watched all the episodes to the end is how it seems the producers really hijacked the story and inserted a heavy amount of homosexual themes and for me it took away and was distracting to the point they seemed to be using the show as a vehicle to push that lifestyle and agenda. I'm not judging gay people but I thought it was a disservice to the show.

    • @Maijolin1
      @Maijolin1 6 лет назад +6

      Raychristofer That was indeed a little bit too much. It felt out of place in that show. It wasn't in there as an organic part of the Show.. It's only purpose was to push the creators Ideology on the audience. I have nothinng against a homosexual character arc, it just shouldn't feel so forced.

    I definitely agree with your review. The show was amazing and is actually the reason I read the book, It gave me interest in the story. After reading the book I noticed that all the extremities in the show were in the book, but they were more accentuated in the show. That was part of making this adaptation darker. Anne wasn't direct about her abuse in the book, but that doesn't mean the memories didn't haunt her, it's only the fact that in the show her memories are shown and more pronounced. I love the show and the book, and believe netflix created a masterful interpretation of the book. They made it darker and grittier, thus making it even more engaging. Wonderful review.

      Yes, of course Megan Fallows was great but Amybeth McNulty plays the emotion downs and highs way more like i would expect from a historical tale from that time frame. when shes sad thats extreme and when whe is happy she is enlighten a lot more. Also that show let place for a lot character developpement since the movies from the 80:s that cover that part of the series was only 3 hours here we had 25 hours to tell that story. People keep saying this show panders to liberals but me and my father are devout Christians and middle-ground leaning conservative, and we both love it. The acting, writing, cinematography, and direction are all beautiful. I’m sure the only problems to anyone about this show are the ones that arise if you compare it to the book. Even then, I dare those naysayers to watch the compilation video of Anne hitting Gilbert with her slate in all the different adaptations. Anne with an E is really the only one that’s acted out realistically, as an impulsive lashing out. That alone says everything that needs to be said. The show and its quality of storytelling, as well as the values it teaches, are wonderful. Anybody who dislikes it is welcome to stick their nose back in the book, the way Anne herself would if she disliked an adaptation of a book she liked.

    I got excited when I seen First Nations actors come on my tv screen, I probably even screamed, I could barely contain my excitement because I rarely see people who look like me on tv. The excitement was sadly short lived. When the characters were calling us dangerous savages my stomach was doing flips. I know this is the kind of narrative that gets native people killed today. But I continued watching, I had faith Anne would do something to make it better. Then ka’kwet was put into residential school and her family started camping outside, from there I thought they would create a tent city or ka’kwet would escape but she didn’t. THEY wrote ka’kwet into the story, THEY wrote her into residential school, THEY had the power to write her escape and give us that little victory. But they didn’t. Instead they wrote dialogue calling us dangerous savages and left it at that. They didn’t even really go into how severe the abuse ka’kwet was most likely facing they didn’t want to get into it. So they should have left us out completely.
    All they did was throw salt in the wounds of residential school survivors and others who struggle with the generational trauma of it.
    The writers cared more about Gilbert and Anne kissing at the end. They don’t care about First Nations people.

    • @mikhaelvervoort2893
      @mikhaelvervoort2893 4 года назад +1

      I understand you feel that way, but it were the CBC and Netflix who pulled the plug on Anne with an E. The actors had contracts for 4 seasons and the creator even had 5 in mind. Corporate greed silenced Ka'kwet's story, not the writers. They didn't know the 3rd season would be the last. If it is any consolation to you, learning about the history of the residential schools in Canada inspired a group of fans to create a fundraiser project for Legacy of Hope, an organization that focuses on raising awareness about the history and long-lasting inter-generational impacts of the residential schools.And we're also still fighting for the continuation of Anne with an E, Ka'kwet's storyline being one of our main motivations.

      Mikhaël Vervoort mikmaq fishermen were being shot at today. Their fishing rights are being taken away and they are being shot at! It started with flares but now their shooting actual guns trying sink boats with elders in it. Calling us dangerous savages on tv just makes it ok to treat us like dangerous savages in real life. The men shooting at them are savages. The priests and nun who raped my parents are savages. And anyone who stands by and let’s this pain continue is a nasty no good worthless savage.
      Native people will never be treated fairly until white people demand it. But there aren’t enough real allies willing to get out there and protect us. BLM showed me white people can be real allies, they can form white walls and literally protect poc with the colour of their skin.
      But when natives protest theconstruction of a neighborhood or a pipeline on unceded territory we stand alone.
      I swear the way we’re seen and treated just makes suicide sound like a good idea.

    Growing up I loved Anne of Green Gables, all versions. I related to her very much.
    I found this version right when it came out. I almost didn't watch it, I was in a really dark place mentally and I wasn't sure I could give it a fair chance since she's so positive, and I was having a hard time even getting out of bed... This version helped me reconnect with a character I related to so deeply as a child by acknowledging the hardships she's been through have affected her, and showing how they've shaped her.
    I have PTSD, and much like Anne my main coping mechanism is such exteme optimism that most don't realize how much I struggle.
    To think Anne would have had such a rough start in life (during a time when even an average life included many hardships) is just ignorant.
    To those who don't like it, that's fine. I'm sorry you don't enjoy it, but if you wanted more of the same watch the old ones. Please stop complaining and let the rest of us enjoy it - no one is forcing you to watch it 😋

      paz thakrar ditto! I really didn't expect to like the show, but it's really... I ADORE IT!
      and I really like how they show Anne's strength, but also show the abuse she's lived through. I relate due to my own experiences ss a kid (it's validating and I've cried with relief over things like, "you can't hold Anne responsible for what she's been exposed to" but basically... She's not "broken" but she's been through a lot. And that's really meant the world to me to see on screen. It's been so healing for me trying to accept myself as I am, and it's been forever since I read the books, but I really loved how they showed how there's so many different ways to love and people you love. I think the "old fashioned" - ness of the show's overall tone actually seems to encourage not "labeling" people by their sexually, nor does it limit us to think of love as just who we choose as sexual parters. Maybe I partially love this because my first knowledge of what "gay" meant, was my father explaining to me that my first grade teacher was gay, and that meant that he [exact method of sexual interaction typically used in male same sex relationships], which, as a 1st grader, was... Confusing, heh, to say the least, though I still adored my AWESOME teacher and didn't understand why some parents would care about his choices (my dad, messed up as his choice of explanation was, did strongly support my teacher and didn't like that parents of other kids were making issues over him being "gay"... I honestly would have never thought twice about anything related to the topic if parents hadn't brought it up!)
      Anyways, I love this!

    Anne of Green Gables has been my favorite book/series for as long as I can remember, so when I heard it was being made into a Netlfix series, I was thrilled. Anne’s story continues in the books long past the first few years of her life at Green Gables and I thought a series would allow them to use far more of the untapped material from later books and really allow us to watch Anne grow up as the actress grew up too from season to season. I have watched the whole series, but knew mere minutes into the first episode that Anne with an E was not going to be the classic story I loved at all. The biggest problem for me is that while they may have wanted to focus on the harsh reality of Anne’s life, this is entirely contradictory to the message of the original source material. The entire focus of Anne’s story is not supposed to be harsh reality but rather the beauty of imagination. Anne is special because she has this imagination that makes both her and the reader fall in love with the world and life. It’s a coming of age story where we watch Anne grown into a young woman while managing to bring light into the lives of everyone she meets. The messages Anne with an E deals with and the reality of modern issues back in that time I agree are so very important to discuss, but I don’t think Anne of Green Gables was the right story to use to do that. They took a story that was already so beloved and entirely erased its personality, twisting the mood, characters, and plot points to fit the message they wanted. I understand modern audiences at the moment tend to prefer dark, serious, more angst-y stories, but AOGG is none of those things and isn’t supposed to be. I guess I just think that if they wanted to create a historical drama focusing on those themes, they should have picked a story that already fit either the mood/message they wanted or created an entirely original one. Instead the result is that they misrepresent the original and now for an entire generation, their first introduction to Anne’s story is a warped and inaccurate one. Not to mention the way Anne with an E treats the original material seems to me to be very disparaging. It implies to the viewers (many of whom have no experience with the original), that the story was “too happy” and not progressive enough and therefore needed heavy alteration, when it had no such problems. I can enjoy Anne with an E ONLY if I completely disconnect it from it’s source material. As a period drama, it holds its own, but to me, it completely fails as an adaptation of Anne of Green Gables because it erased all the elements that endeared the original story to me in the first place.

It would be completely unrealistic to pretend like the trauma she's faced doesnt effect her at all, it makes complete sense that they'd show that and make it a part of who Anne is. you cant escape trauma, it's something that will be with you forever, it's also one of the reasons her imagination is so good. she uses her brain, her ideas, her thoughts, her imagination to create these stories because it's better than her real life. without the trauma she's faced, she would have no reason to immerse herself in stories from her mind all the time. it sounds like you want a childish story with no real problems or character development, they did amazing. the actress who played Anne brought that character to life, it's one of the best acting performances ive seen. stop being so critical just bc it's not exactly as you'd picture it.

      @@Sixgirlss I entirely agree that the acting and character development in Anne with an E are absolutely excellent! I don’t mean to call it a “bad show” by any means since it has a ton of merits and is a really lovely piece of art in its own right. I was just sharing how as a lover of the original book it felt very different which is why I have to separate it from the source material in my mind when I watch it. Something can definitely be an inaccurate adaptation and still be good art! My expectations are based on the vibe I associate with the story and the way I’m familiar with it and are 100% just my personal feelings. Not a reflection on the quality of the show as piece of art, just a discussion on how it personally makes me feel as it compares to the book and other adaptations. 🙃🤷🏼‍♀️

    What a spot on review. Many of themes you touched on are why I became a loyalist of this show. Have to admit I was not a faithful reader of books so was curious about this adaptation. {*NOTE: the intro is gorgeous. so creative & the song again sets the proper tone & whimsicalness} The more modern take on the story is appreciated, giving a better context than making everything in the past seem so perfect and sweet. If Anne had been bounced around in foster care as more of an indentured servant she would of had the experiences shown which are one way detrimental yet her knowledge makes her powerful as well. Such a good job on this show. Please bring on Season 3 soon!! This is much needed programming.

    Whenever I watch a period film, particularly those that focus almost entirely on the romance between main characters, I just wonder about the "hidden" aspects that must have been topical during those times as well. We know about slavery and discrimination but we hardly see it be addressed in movies. Perhaps more so now than, say, 10 years ago. Misogyny is addressed here there but almost always in the same manner even though it takes many forms, such as how women aren't supposed to talk about reproduction and periods, which they addressed spectacularly in Anne With An E. And those dark subject matters like abuse and how tough life was is almost always glossed over in favour of, once again, the romance. It makes for bland television, in my opinion, and makes all romcoms seem the same. Personally, the grittiness of this adaptation adds so much more weight to the characters and the story as a whole. Because they go through such hardships, and we as viewers go through it along with them, it makes the happy moments that much more meaningful and special. It makes Anne seem that much braver because she doesnt let those horrible experiences define her as a person. Yes, she has had to deal with the consequences of having been abused as am orphans and also with growing pains in entering a new type of society, but she perseveres and comes out of it all the better for it. It's perfect character development. Same goes for the other characters. You can't develop a character all that much if you don't have them go through hardship, that's how most of us in the real world develop as people too. I really don't know how that's so hard to understand. 🤷‍♀️ Most likely, it's people who are too used to the movie adaptation that really dislike the show, and also critics and viewers who don't like all these topics to be discussed because they see it as SJW pandering instead of simply addressing topics which have been around for ages but that have been kept secret and quiet about. 😑 I enjoy every adaptation for what it is. It's just more material for me to watch and analyse. What's not to love about that!? 😁

My middle name is Ann.... I have red hair, freckles, loved reading... It's wonderful to see my heroine reimagined and less ideallic now that I am older.

    This video was so emotional and I agree with everything. To understand Anne with an E, ppl need to be sensible, need to watch it with heart and soul and then they will catch the feeling. I cried the whole seasons 1 and 2, and S3 started and my tears are back again. I really hope I can cry I lot in this season, but not with bad things that could happen. Anne with an E is the most soul touch tv show I ever watched in my life, and being a Brazilian girl, soap opera addicted (I really watch soap operas since I was a baby), this is a important title I can give to a serie.

    The problem I have with it is the order and era. Anne of Green Gables is not 1800s, it's 1900s. A fairly peaceful time. I hated the first season but during the second season I noticed something. I liked the show when it's doing its own thing. However when it's doing things from the books it doesn't fit and it's done wrong. For example, they cram so much book stuff in that if they continued they'd have no more book material in maybe 3 seasons. In the books Anne meets Diana and after a bit she accidentally gets her drunk. Mrs. Barry cuts off their friendship. During this time Anne studies hard and competes with Gil for top student. Also the teacher leaves bringing in Miss Stacy. She's compassionate and supportive of Anne's creative side. Then after some time has passed Minnie May gets sick. Anne saves her, Josephine is not there. This lightens Mrs. Barry up and she invites Anne to the christmas ball. Matthew gets the dress. Then after the ball the girls accidentally tackle Josephine. Leading to an apology from Anne that makes them friends. The show does nearly all of this in the first season but Miss Stacy isn't introduced until the end of season two. Taking away any arc or test to the blossoming friendship. So instead of letting Anne grow away from Diana for at least a year the show has them apart for maybe a few days to a few weeks. When the show does its own thing, like the Gold Con, it's great. I really enjoy it. However when it comes time to do book stuff they do it half heartedly and it comes across like a hindrance to the writer. It's like the writers wanted to write a small town gritty slice of life period piece but couldn't get the funds. So they threw in Anne of Green Gables scenes to get the money and fans they wanted. Also... Why the fuck is Miss Stacy such a bitch to Anne? I was so excited to see her then she's petty, rude and dismissive. What the literal hell? Where is the compassionate, patient and understanding woman from the books? These are the problems I, as a long time fan of the books, had. Nothing to do with the progressive stuff, nothing to do with the "gritiness" (I'm sorry I find the pallets they use make the show uninteresting to look at. Like a Zack Snyder film but easier to over look.).

      Well stated it seems like the writers are more interested in trying to place this 19th century storyline into the 21 century in order to try and sale it to the Teens of this generation (with a reference of Anne of Green Gables tossed into the mix occasionally for ratings purposes) and it just isn't blending well together..I felt like almost all of Avonlea was dying to come outthe closet in season 2 .I would not be shocked if in season 3 Avonlea will be introduced to its first Trans teen or child and it will not work simply because that was not the way real life was back in the 19th century..I have no issues with these topics being brought forth in a series but where I take offense to it is when they start trying to link it to L.M Montgomery's works of love about her life as a female living in 19th century Canada..

    • @PetalsAndPlague
      @PetalsAndPlague 6 лет назад +6

      Judy Holiday see I have no issues with the introduction of gay characters. They have 3 out of a huge cast. One of which is no longer in the story. What I took issue with is the lack of interest in the actual storylines. It's nice to see gay representation in media.

    • @judyholiday653
      @judyholiday653 6 лет назад +4

      If you read my comment you will see that I stated that I have no issues about ppl being gay or trans in a tv series..However, the way it is being portrayed on Anne with an E is not the way ppl acted back then and it is not in L.M Montgomery's writings. so I think they should stop trying to make our lifestyles fit into the 19th century it is just wrong..I totally agree with you about the lack of interest in the storylines that many of us know by heart..I also think they need to start developing Anne and Gilbert relationship instead od focusing on situations that never occurred in the books..

    • @PetalsAndPlague
      @PetalsAndPlague 6 лет назад +8

      Judy Holiday there were plenty of gay people. Oscar Wilde is one of the most famous, people were all in a tizzy over semi homoerotic things in Dorian Gray and that's a piece of classic literature now. They mention in the show that if it gets out the penalty is death. And if you're gonna use that "it's not in the writings" excuse then about 80% of the show is unnecessary and shouldn't be there. All the gritty ptsd stuff, the gold con artists, the pantomime, gilbert travelling, etc. Majority of the second season is made up. Gay people exist, they have for a very long time. Most of the gay stuff in the show is between friends and in a safe place. They aren't screaming it from the rooftops. They're having a private party with friends. They aren't pushing anything, this show and book series takes place over the womens suffrage. It was a time of change.

    • @judyholiday653
      @judyholiday653 6 лет назад +5

      I am not going to get into this long debate over this and yes I am aware of Oscar Wilde and that gay ppl have existed since the beginning of time ..I just personally do not feel like it should have been brought up in this series..I am also aware that over 80% of the 2 season was not even based on the books..Which makes me wonder why they are even using (Anne of Avonlea) as their ratings pull..The producers could have named it Andie with an Y and have gotten what they have now from the exact viewership..I realize that I am the only one that feels this way and that is perfectly fine ..The more that I think about it it is making think that the makers of this production are only using the whole L.M Montgomery name to pull in the ratings because it obvious that they're only going to use the smallest amount of her work in thisseries but use her nme to make the $$$'s and for a true fan of Maude Montgomery I cannot help but take offense ..That's really all I have to say concerning this matter..You have a blessed day!

      Please, do not romanticise it, it is very dangerous. Anne was not like any other girl,because she was herself, her trauma was not her. Also, going with that and the fact that life was hard, many other girls could also have ptsd, so...charms vanishes.

    I have to admit, I PASSIONATELY love the original mini-series with Megan Follows and the books and when I started watching this I just couldn't appreciate it. I love the light tone, in view with Anne's optimistic outlook, that despite her trials in life she has risen above it to be who she is. Having said that, after watching your vid I'll give it another shot. I don't hold out much hope, but you never know. I feel things should be faithful to the source material. But I guess as you say it is an adaptation, it's not like they call it "anne of Green Gables"

    • @WitandFolly

      Too true!! This version of Anne is not Anne from the books. And that's okay, you just have to know that going in. She still has the characteristics that are unique to the classic Anne, except those traits fit into plot points differently because of the tone and messages of the show, which are different because it's 100 years after the first book was published.

    I was actually surprised when I first heard that people found this series too dark. I was like: "What? This show is my #1 source of wholesome content!" I guess, the sad or realistic aspects only felt natural to me. What's the point of doing a remake if you keep it 100% the exact same thing every time? It won't bring anything new and won't talk to the younger audience. Anne With an E is a historical drama but is very much "modern" in its approach. And I would even say better or at least more original than a lot of shows because it's not just constant struggle, angst and tears, it is truly a positive show filled with beautiful, funny and happy moments. Hearts get mended, problems get solved, and frowns are turned into smiles. This show is infused with hope at its core. I'll conclude my comment with a very cliché comparison: without the darkness, the light wouldn't shine as bright.

    I've felt such difficulty relating to Anne. I can appreciate that she is artistic, brave, a fighter, talented and a feminist, but was she ever kind? Over the episodes she kept making the same mistake of not caring about the feelings of others: After Gilbert's father dies he tells her that not everything is about her and she keeps making it so anyways ("Matthew's" love letters, Cole's not going to school and especially Josie's harassment) She keeps reacting to every problem as if she is the biggest victim and makes others suffer. I get that she has PTSD and she has coping mechanisms that would make her put herself over others for safety, but she only reacts like that while others are the ones at risk. And for a viewer it's annoying how she holds views that are extremely divisive to the point of complete cognitive dissonance: she hates that women are being valued only for their beauty, but her self esteem issues are mostly because of her appearance. She keeps hurting others and being unjust over her own personal problems while expecting that the world is going to be better because of it. Over all she is nice, but she would not change for the sake of others. A child has flawed morals, sure, but she keeps her views 'till the very end and that is why she is the least likable character in the whole series for me.

    For me personally, I think the biggest turn off was how Anne was portrayed. Not necessarily because of the more blunt feminism, but rather because her acting felt, stiff. Like she was reading lines that were supposed to be passionate, but weren't. That, and I will admit, I hold a strong bias in favor of the original TV miniseries. However, I think I will try this one again. I think the darker view on Anne's past life could be very interesting.

    I think that the Anne of Green Gables books were so romanticized because of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s own tragic life. Her husband was mentally ill, and he abused her severely her whole life until he died. They even believed that her death might have been suicide since she died in her sleep, and it was believed it was because of her prescripted medicine. She was a very creative woman, and sometimes I think Anne was her escape.

    The only thing I hate in this show is the freaking second-hand embarrassment that makes me wanna crawl into a hole, but there's no denying that the show is phenomenal and no second-hand embarrassment is stopping me from complete this. Period.

    There are some things that are obvious and cheesy and outdated for the time but it’s a guilty pleasure for me. It’s very sweet.

    Geez, I always considered this show super light hearted. People have problems, but it all gets solved, normally.

    It is terrible according to actuacy of the book but the aesthetic is pretty cool. But like Matthew died in the book and he would never try to kill himself. Anne didn't try to run back to the asylum and from then on nothing is comparable to the book.

    People say they hate Anne with an E because its “Too Edgy and Dark than the book 📖”

    YESSS! I was thinking the same thing about Marilla and Matthew. I've never seen 2 elderly characters so fleshed out in any drama before. I'm turning 65 this month and it was a revelation seeing these 2 amazing actors at work. In fact, Marilla is my favorite character in Anne With an E. We need more dramas with senior folks who have real lives and personalities and aren't just there to play someone's grandparents.

    So people just assume that people with mental issue are just mildly traumatized? Like that's how mental issues are, it manifest into something dark, and sometimes the only way out is to create alternative to the reality. People are really lily-livered and I despise them for the cancellation of the show.

    personally I think the biggest flaw of the entire show is tha main actress, she's a good one from what I can see but she's just not suitable for the role, I think her personality (or what is supposed to be. since her actions and emotions are directed by the producers for obvious reasons) do not represent Anne, the real Anne of the story. What I'm trying to say is that this story, tho it take place in the same locations, and has the same charecters is not about Anne of green gables. Anne with an E, not to be confused with Anne of green gables is somehow an entirely and completely different person from the calecter l.m montgomery wrote in her famous books. bothe characters have there own fans and anti-fans.
    oh I forgot to mention, in case you haven't noticed yet. I'm clearly an anti-fan and I think Anne of green gables is a likeable, lovable and relatable character while Anne with an E is just straightforward annoying

    I love this show, the only thing that bothers me is that half the movie she’s running away and crying. She completely freaks out and screams for like no reason and to completely innocent people.

    I'm going to be completely honest with you, and I know my opinion doesn't matter that much as I am some random individual, but I didn't dislike the show because of some deep meaning or really a good reason. I just found Anne annoying and stopped watching. Howeverrrrrrrrrrr, I read through some comments here and it seems to me like it's just that in the first couple of episodes, Anne may have been putting up a large front that appeared annoying because she was in a new environment and didn't want to be thrown out again. So, I think I'll make time to try the show out again and give it an actual chance rather than leaving it because a character might get on my nerves a little bit.

    I like how in the beginning murella realizes how much she actually cares about Anne. I do like that Anne despite her past has picked up helpful tips. Also I think the real thing is that it wasn't just her red hair it was because of her Irish heritage because in the 1800 and early 1900s if you was Irish you was on the bottom scale even below African Americans. If that makes sense. History is fun when you do your research. There was a lot of job signs that was hiring but not hiring Irish people. 😅 So the families treated her like crap because of that too.

    I love Anne with an E, even moreso the 2nd season where there is a lot more levity and fun and heartwarming scenes of friendship and kindness in Avonlea (Matthew and Marilla are adorably coming out of their shells that season! I love it!); I get why people hate it and it's not my all time favorite Anne adaptation (the Sullivan films are too perfect to be surpassed, at least to me)... but there is SO MUCH to love. The AwaE cast is equally as good as the Sullivan series cast for just about every main character. Anne, Diana, Marilla, Matthew, and Gilbert shine in AwaE and I think they gave their all in encapsulating the roles they were given, JUST as much heart as the Sullivan films. And that's not something I say lightly since the Sullivan films are, to me, beyond classic and a beautiful series I return to again and again. I can't wait for Season 3 to come out, I'm already a fan of Mrs. Stacy and want to see more of Cole's story.

    I recently finished the book "Anne of Green Gables", and I loved, so much. And it did not took the essence of the show, of the brilliant interpretation of Anne by the actress. And I think that the changes was great, however, I would like to see some of the histories of the book, who didn't show up. But for me, both, book and serie are great and worth it.

    I just want to comment not about show vs book itself, but on what creator said about sugarcoating - she would go to a war with an author of original Anne herself. Because she, very talented writter, fought with people who were attacking her for her fairy tailsh charm and called it sugarcoating. Lucy Maud Montgomery insisted that is what she wanted to do,but that is was not sugarcoating, but looking at one,still existing, part of reality and that people who insist that showing what is ugly, sad and blank, grey equals realism is preposterous.
