In case I didn't make it clear: I rated these mythics based on a mixture of function, design and application, not by how strong they are atm. So everyone asking me why I didn't rank Divine Sunderer SSSSSSSSSSS+ Tier, that's why.
I feel like you overrated riftmaker, frostfire and chemtank. These items have less stats ( less hp dispite being a tank mythic) and less valuable actives than their bruiser counterparts ( frostfire only gives sticking power if you can get into range in the first place ) while riftmaker is just a truly awfull item. Its buildpath sucks and its dmge is so small that rocketbelt is always the better option unless you are Gwen, and since most ap bruisers do aoe dmge they receive heavy penalties to any omnivamp.
But you put stride at b tier because it got nerfed and now you're saying u didn't put sunderer at S because ur not judging the item on how strong it is atm.
Here's a possible spin-off series of why no one plays you could do: "Why no one builds." It's basically the same thing as why no one plays, just focusing on items instead of champions. Trinity Force seems a natural fit for an episode.
Yeah but that lies in the nature of tanks. They just aren't that interactive and dynamic. You can't expect flashy gameplay and explosive outplays when you lock in a Malphite or a Mundo.
I mean, tanks need damage. They all also have another passive ontop of the sunfire passive. Tank and ADC mythics aren't even that different from each other. Tanks and ADC's both have a mobility, damage and defenisve mythic. It's just that it dosent make sense to give a tank a dash or true damage and tanks don't really need shields if they can have basic hp.
@@h4roeverynyan55 why not give a tank a dash or something similar? In stead of chemtank, they could have made an item that actively gives an ability that works like sion's ult, but has a range like of a flash. Make the item do virtually 0 dmg but let it cc the enemy. Make it give only tanky stats. That'd give a great option for tank supports to peel and engage and make it less obvious while still allowing for counterplay. Or come up with something better idk, anything is better than what's in right now
Tanks need the sunfire passive to stay relevant in damage. The only alternative is to give them higher base numbers but then it would become tank meta again and people always complain about that.
I respectfully disagree with most of the list. I believe champions are meant to have weaknesses and covering said weaknesses shouldn't be convenient. Shieldbow and Stridebreaker are the easiest examples here. The main weakness of Jinx and Darius are, respectively, low survivability and getting kited. As the opponent of those champions, I want to, respectively, burst quickly and keep my distance. If it is that important for these champions to mitigate their weaknesses, they give up some of their strenghts to adquire, respectively, Sterak's Gage and Turbo Chemtank. If you get those itens that give exactly the stats those champions want in addition to a tool designed to cover their main weakness, then the weakness they have always been balanced around no longer exists. Survivability for ranged DPS, mobility for juggernauts and tank shredding for assassins, to name a few, should be awkward to build because these are things those champions aren't meant to have. Everfrost is the best addition to the game in season 11 though. I am totally with you on that.
very good points and i definitely agree however, in this scenario that you are building (in which champs should not be able to build to nullify weaknesses) league of legends could become something akin to rock, paper, scissors ADCs kite against juggernauts, assassins beat adcs, juggernauts beat assassins, etc. etc. (i'm oversimplifying but you get my point) while this would promote a need for balanced team comps, people would not enjoy it since they want to play what they want to play it seems like league is trying to make these scenarios of "omfg, i literally cannot do anything; this class just completely counters my class" more obsolete reiterating my stance, i do agree with you and how vars describes it "the identities of classes are becoming more convuluted" but from a company perspective, you need to keep your audience engaged while also garnering new players /shrug
I agree with you in a certain way. Its important to have weaknesess and strenghts, but the problem is when you compare them to other champions. In todays league having a dash is among the most important things: it allows you to dodge, engage, escape and position. So when you dont have it you just feel useless. Or with the jinx case look at akshan. He can do the same amount of damage, but gets a shield free for his passive. So why would you play jinx? That is why they need to give her that mythic
That's a very good point to bring up. In the past, I've talked about how a major issues with new champions is that they have things in their kit that serve as counterplay to any counterplay that can be used against them (thus nullifying the weakness significantly). As for items like shieldbow and stridebreaker, the key difference is that those items are available for anyone and everyone to purchase, much like how flash can be taken whether you're slow or fast. Also, the dynamic I think Riot was trying to go with when it came to mythic items was to give players the option to choose what would be needed for what situation. Back then, most adcs would always take infinity edge, because there was no other alternative. Now, you have the choice to go for survivability, mobility, or full damage, but each one comes at the cost of missing something else. TL;DR - Mythic items are different from champions because everyone from that class can build them. It's not only Akshan or Samira who have access to mobility now, even Jinx can build something to be on a level playing field, though she usually builds kraken slayer anyway.
@@VarsVerum "though she usually builds kraken slayer anyway" that's exactly the problem imo, some champs have to build a certain item every game or else they won't be viable at all, while others get the freedom to choose whichever mythic they want based on match up or preference. At that point you are almost adding that item as part of their kit, not something they have to choose between. Why choose something else when every option is inferior? There's so few mythics in the game that they restrict your choice way too much. Champs that were already item dependent now cannot steer away at all, while champs that weren't item dependent benefit from having all of these different ways to play.
Kind of weird to use Jinx as an example for shieldbow though. Shieldbow is usually not viable on any ADC that has to deal damage through crit and attack speed.
"For those of you, who don't know, Talisman of Ascension was the original item that gave everyone a wide move speed buff..." - Not true. The original item with this active ability was Shurelya's Reverie, which was introduced to the game back in season 1. It was replaced with Talisman of Ascension prior to season 4, which actually cause quite a ruckus on official forum, because many players considered this as Riot simply trying to remove traces/legacy of the former employees of the company.
Season one was a mess. I remember rushing mana manipulator on Soraka because I had no idea what I should build. I'd run heal / clarity with my SS cooldown mastery Then go for Eleisa's Miracle, Soul shroud and Shurelya's. Before it got it's second and third icon update, I thought it was like a giant eye or something. I miss Eleisa's Mircale, it was such a fun item
@@pyromania2667 I hate you for the sole reason of making me nostalgic. I remember the good old days of DFG Veig, Bankplank with Philo stone, Heart of Gold, Avarice Blade and Kage's Lucky Pick, FoN Morde, Atma Warmogs Jax/J4 Those were the days. They were far from balanced, but they were fun as heck for sure
I swear, the amount of times I'm going to bed at around 2:00 and I get excitet about a new vars video, just to see that it's premiering 16 hours later makes me sad :*(
Sunderer's just has the best mythic passive. Hands down no competition. ITS A STRAIGHT UPGRADE FROM ECLIPSE WITH ONE PERCENT MORE ARMOR PEN AND 5 PERCENT MORE MAGIC PEN I NEED TO MAKE A SHUYVANA BUILD WITH IT.
I'd love a tank mythic that has no other combat stats than survivability. No damage. It could have an active that lets you take 80% less damage for 4 seconds with a one minute cooldown. I would love that on Braum, Dr. Mundo or maybe even olaf.
@@ikjman1 I'd like to see a tank or supp item that casts some sort of a barrier between you and the opponent like yas windwall or anivia's wall, just not as strong as those. Or a tank item that has an active similar to sion ult but has a range of a flash. Many more ideas that'd be more interesting than what's in right now
@@belivuk2526 they should hire you qt riot o wait that would be impossible to balance like what the first one is literally broken with a support with that item and vayne the 2nd one is stridebreaker with extra steps and a knock up come on man you are delusional
Great episode, i cant wait for the runes tier list, you should however at the end of the video add an actual tier list image with the items ranked so we get a nice summary. One more thing please after your keystone tier list also make a regular rune tier list (where u rank the non-keystones). Keep up the great work Vars!
Imho duskblade is absolutely busted on Khazix, synergy with the passive is sick. I have played way too many games that were won solely by 1 fed khazix that 1 shoted all the team one by one without any chance of counterplay.
As a trundle top main, sunderer is busted and trinity is horrible, normally I would go sunderer vs a lot of tanky enemies, trinity vs squishies and frostfire if I want to be able to teamfight more easily, but with trinity being useless and there being so much %max health damage that makes frostfire bad and most importantly sunderer veing so good, there's literally no reason for me to use anything other than sunderer at all. I'm also a rammus main and one of the things that I like the most of playing him now is how choosing different mythics can feel really different in some situations, sunfire vs a lot of cc, chemtank when there's a lot of squishy enemies and frostfire if I need the slow to keep on top of the enemy, I even choose my skins based on which mythic I want to use (freljord with frostfire, full metal and sweeper with chemtank and molten with sunfire) same with singed and all of his different item choices in liandry, chemtank, riftmaker etc, but that aspect is gone when I play champs like trundle because all the time sunderer is always the best choice
@@joekenwood4956 yeah, he's kind of a jack of all trades when it comes to mythics, he has the widest variety of rune and mythic choices but all of them are mediocre
Shurelya’s is definitely my absolute favorite support mythic. In my eyes it’s S tier tbh bc it opens up the world to enchanters. Who needs heals if you don’t get hit? You can kite bruisers, you can dodge poke abilities, you can catch immobile enemies… It has engage, disengage, and can be applied in every game state. You can rotate faster, follow rotations more effectively, AND you can move your whole team with you at the same time. It used to be more OP but honestly it’s still so strong that I find myself almost never running moonstone, even on champs like soraka or sona. The passive is so strong. Finally, the girlies can fight back against the ugly skirmishers 💅
I just never build it tbh, with full on protective sups like Lulu and Janna i just go Moonstone and for ones like Morgana, Lux, Nami its one of the Mage items
Honestly I feel like vars did moonstone wrong tho, like if you think of it as a successor to athenes it does so much, it basically opened up completely new builds for champions like twitch or morgana and it completely changes the playstyle of a support.
Honestly, I don't know why mythics exist. Especially since they were supposedly created to increase build diversity, but no one ever goes for diverse builds. Like, the most build diversity I ever see is that sometimes a Lucian or Tristana or Kai'Sa will go Galeforce instead of Kraken Slayer or vice versa- and those are the only marksmen I ever see take multiple mythics regularly in one patch. And what's even worse is that some champions don't really fit that well into the mythic system (As a Xayah main, I'll never be able to understand why that's her most common mythic. None of the mythics in the game feel particularly better than the others for her, including Galeforce. But that might just be me, honestly.)
not necessarily more diverse but more specialized for example, b4 the item rework, there were some items that would just do everything (COUGH COUGH DEATH'S DANCE) and some that nobody built bc they were too situational (like ohmwrecker) the item rework was made to uproot these terrible items and make items that would make you better in certain scenarios but not every single scenario (ex: the new death's dance is a pretty cool item compared to its previous rendition: armor, dmg, ability haste, anti AD passive --> more specialized but it works really well) mythics are only a handful of these items that were created/reworked to do said things the reason mythics have become monotone is that they created the problem they were trying to fix: the meta has become too stale -> assassins and divers/drain-tanks are too prevalent and thus require the same items to be built every single game the same scenarios appear every single game (like being dove on by a nocturne or smthng) and you need shieldbow or goredrinker for that scenario every single game (it also doesn't help that the meta is so much quicker and thus these specialized items don't get to shine like Death's Dance)
@@leaflotus6726 true, but it's also great for chasing (like a short dash to attack with jhin's last fourth shot, a champ that doesn't have any mobility option) this same concept can also be applied to other champs but alas (as i mentioned in my comment above) diver and assassins are too prevalent so galeforce (which, imo, is mainly used for chasing) is completely useless because people will try and walk towards you (and burst you) anyway
Aurelion sol can unironically use every mage mythic, other than maybe riftmaker, but even that can work sometimes. Just thought it was interesting to mention
It’s interesting to see how different my perception of some things is so different just because I mostly play ARAM. I find Duskblade super fun on plenty of champions. It can just feel cool, and provides such a unique “defensive” whatever
It's crazy how much different builds in ARAM can be. Even keystone choices. Duskblade is super useful for self peel but can sometimes get a little ridiculous on champs like Yi...
I build Sett Tank often, and the only reason as to why i use Sunfire Aegis and dont use Frostfire Gauntlet is because Sunfire Aegis looks a lot better with the Obsidian Dragon Skin. If i get my hands on the prestige Version, THEN ill build Frostfire.
Hell yeah, I love Frostfire, albeit for the wrong reasons; I pick it for the increased size. Loved the video, looking forward to see you rank all the runes!

@@muff1nb0y46 I made my list on comparing the items to their same class for example in tanks i compare chemtank to lets say frost fire you become pretty squishy with chemtank since ot doesnt have extra stats like sunfire or you dont get extra health like frostfire and its only good for very few champions like rammus and skarner. If it didnt got nerfed i would put it higher
@@belivuk2526 Ashe, Maokai and nami are the only real users why would you waste item slots for mandate while you can get something like everfrost or liandries for swain?
At this point they should just rework trinity force no one goes that over divine sunderer, literally no one it just bad and the champs that use it already have auto attack resets so they don’t even need attack speed, I would even say essence reaver is better on most ways than trinity
The reason its bad is because it doesnt give anything that sunderer doesnt give and that the mythic passive of sunderer is just better than any other mythic passive in the game. If they would only change its mythic passive to for example increasing spellblade passive scaling per legendary and buffing the base stats of triforce it would be totally fine.
@@Fuzzymandias_ Bro im Gp main and i can tell you that the only time gp goes crit is wgen hes midlane against a ranged matchup. Literally anyother time Trinity is the better performing item
imo Shurelya's is an S tier. The item passive not only affects your ally but yourself. And that is huge for enchanters, being able to get movement speed and move more easily in fights is a huge boost for champs like Soraka that normally are really easy to kill. And champions like Lulu a way to give movement speed in more than one way. And if that wasn't all the other passive give haste. Honestly moonstone is trash, and the only way I'm building that item is if the enemy has high poke or a lot of antiheal in their kits.
Agreed. Moonstone suffers from the same defect that tri-force does. For the item to be useful, you have to be in combat (to paraphrase what Vars said about tri-force, "to keep this going you have to be fighting for a very long time"). Further, like most of the mythics aimed at supports, it is gold-inefficient for too long in the game. Plus with so much self-healing in the game, it is used most often to apply anti-heal ability to allies via chemtech putrifier as opposed to actually healing. And expecting squishy enchanters who are gated by their mana and auto-attack range to keep the moonstone effect going by auto-attacking is bad design. Shurelyas has become the default item for most of the supports out there. When you start seeing Alistar, Thresh and Blitzcrank mains considering Shurelya's instead of other items, you know that the item design team has seriously messed up.
Personally, I can't agree with Sunfire aegis being ranked as high as it is. It's a damage item for the one class that doesn't need damage, plus it has such awful gold efficiency that it is only worth buying if you are a tank and you need the tenacity from that source. Last season Sunfire was a really gold efficient build that allowed you to keep yourself in combat to proc grasp during laning phase and apply a little push pressure. This season, it's extremely gold inefficient, and is a damage item for some reason, in addition to having split resistances making it a weak buy during laning phase. I do agree with your judgement of eclipse though: the mythic for people who don't have a mythic. It's not an interesting buy for anyone, you buy it for the stats because there's no other item like it
"Now ADCs can actually do stuff in the midgame and not get oneshotted by tanks." And tanks now feel a lot weaker since their midgame powerspike gets overshadowed and they don't scale late, being pushed out more by bruisers in lane doesn't help (at least until they get bramble, but then there's sunderer).
bc tanks being strong means tank meta and no one likes a tank meta bc you ACTUALLY have to work with your team to win or basically just kill the tank all games especially during this day and age are moving towards a quicker pace bc people don't like longer games for one reason or another (good example is hearthstone) i still prefer slower games, but such is life
but why would you want to get oneshotted by a tank? by virtue, a tank's role is to soak up damage and defend its allies, not be a powerhouse of damage. sure, there are hybrid roles, but if you are just strictly tank, why is damage needed? some is okay, but getting oneshot by a tank is quite unfair.
@@luckneh5330 Getting oneshot? Not good. Being able to oneshot? Not good either. They should be able to soak up damage, and not have to oneshot you before you oneshot them.
This is great and agree with many of the points. But for the ranking champions video it'll probably be a good idea to briefly go over what your ranking them by before you start to rank them. During this I was thinking "so he's ranking them by practicality cool... wait no I think it's game design... wait no is it just how much it adds to a champs kit?... it's stance in the game?" I just arrived at the conclusion that it was a mix of everything.
yea please more vids like this. getting back into league right now after a multi year break has been hell because so much info is outdated. and many videos talking about builds do not go into detail about why an item works well on certain characters. being given actual updated info that doesn't just skim over stats and effects of only one or two items is so refreshing. especially right now when so much has changed this season.
I still remember the time where Frostfire Gauntlet (then Iceborn Gauntlet) has the spellblade effect in its kit. The extra damage every time we use ability is insane. It also gives mana which helps a lot for the champs that has mana issues.
amazing viedo, its good to see the oppinion of others on he items makes it easier to see it from another angle because when i look at the items i just associate them with the champions that will build them not the champions that can build them to be better at their job.
it would be awesome to talk about the best legendary items, some of them are even crazier than the mythics (zhonyas, hello?) but i know it would be a much harder video for you to make since not only the number of them, but also because you would be double dipping on some already addressed topics like grev wounds and lifesteal would still love to see your take on it, even if it took a different format (like a google sheet or smth lower effort) always a fan of your work, and i can't wait for the next one :D
Awesome one, mate. As I’m running Yi now, I wonder why the hell people build Duskblade? Most people don’t understand champion kits and item stats work together. They just copy whatever made popular by streamers and use it. Worst thing is these drones ping when I theory-craft another item which makes more sense.
Immortal shieldbow is a good way to tilt the enemy assassin in early game. I am a Rengar main and even if im 4 / 0 with 2 items I can’t oneshot the enemy adc. After the shieldbow procs, they just don’t take damage anymore, its crazy

Nice video, I was pretty hyped for it since the community poll, I would like add a bit to Eclipse, because it apparently has an identity crisis, since it is (at least in the shop) both in the fighter and assasin category, which makes it feel like a compromise between these two playstyles and even champs that can itemize both (like Kha'zix for example) are better off with either goredrinker/stridebreaker or the two assasin mythics.
This video is great but for me, I would put night harvester a bit lower than Ludens since I feel like in terms of champion usage the only notable ones are Elise, Shyvana, and NIdalee. All the other manaless or mana-based ap champions have better options in the terms of rocket belt, Ludens, or rift maker. Examples of these would be things like Katarina, Akali, Kennen, and Evelynn.
Turbo Chemtank: "So many tanky champions needed a way in: Rammus, Hecarim, Udyr, Nunu" Right cause all those champs NEEDED even more movement speed....
Bro, your content is so good. Keep it up! This video was great, and I really hope you do this format for the different champions in league. I look forward to the Keystone video! I also hope you can do this video for the legendary items in League, since I personally feel there are still some items that have the "Sanguine Blade" feel. Aka, items that are far too situational to be good or hold any merit outside of their 1 tiny niche.
i'm so glad someone else recognizes how amazing frostfire is, good video! also if u put omni stone low down in that next video and not in some "underrated" i'll be a little bit sadface, it's so good if you know ur champion really well and know that they can work well with it
I liked this video mostly because I stopped playing League for 4 years and recently started playing again and getting an update on what some of these items do is very helpful. I don't like trying to read items, especially the long mythic descriptions while in-game lol.
heres my feedback: good video. im pretty new and still dont understand why some mythics are better than other like for example tahm kench with frostfire but i can see, now that youve explained it, why thats so good for him. honestly your videos are helping me learn about the game in an easy to digest sorta way. 10/10 it helped me understand items better, id love to get this quality of information for keystones too :)
U know i completely agree with where u put duskblade but i still build it on almost every assassin just cause its rlly rlly fun, also pyke can regen wit his passive cuz dusk invis its rlly cool
I disagree for Duskblade being bottom tier solely for the fact as that it gives assassins more staying power in team fights. I play Kha’zix and it is CRUCIAL to have multiple instances of stealth on top your ultimate. Especially during late game. If you want to blow up the back line and not get blown up yourself, get Duskblade.
in my opinion i think mythics should expel champions strengths, not covering there weakness for example : jinx should have the choice of three mythics 1.more range 2.more single target dmg 3.more aoe dmg making her still vurnable to divers and assassins cuz u would pick tristana, ezreal, xayah if u wanted a safe adc
I can't speak for every class but if any set of mythics delivered it's promise it was the ADC carry set. The ability to plug one of your gaps through one of the actives is very appealing and the similar stat line and same cost across them means that you rarely feel bad for picking one over the other. Furthermore you still have access to tank shredding and survivability through other legendary items that feel distinct from the mythics in their passives and actives. The mythic update also introduced Noonquiver, gone are the days of waiting for 1300 gold for BF sword and the frustration of some champs that prefer attack speed early on is also eliminated since Noonquiver gives both. Overall, my favorite part of Mythics is the move towards unifying components, stat lines and item costs between them in the same category. The thing that stands out the most to me is the passive they all have to grant legendary items bonus stat. It ends up feeling superfluous and you never choose an item over the other due to this small increase of stats.
I only play URF when it's available. I'll get dragged into ARAM's from time to time so this season was blowing me with the item changes. This video probably doesn't do much for League addicts, but it's great for me because now I get what each item does and how it's used.
Hey Vars, I must say that one thing you did really well in this video was being unbiased. I was pleasantly surprised when you put Everfrost in S tier because it truly changes up and adds to a champion even though you have talked about how busted that makes it, because it really does change the game to make some champs better. I would recommend to keep that mentality for the next vid
I agree with most of your list, but as someone who play a lot of ap bruisers (Mostly singed, a little mordekaiser), I really dont like riftmaker. While it seems good in theory, the main problem with it imo is the omnivamp, and how that interacts with most ap bruisers. At least for the champs I play, the main way they control space for their team is having aoe abilities that cover a decent amount of space, like singed q and mord q+e. the problem with that is that the already pretty low starting vamp of 8% is slashed to 1/3 effectiveness for aoe abilities. this is a huge problem, making it really hard to actually sustain both in lane and fights, while anyone with vamp scepter can clear it and leave with full health. On top of that, I think that riftmaker’s passive is one of the most underwhelming in the game, it only becomes relevant in a fight after 3 whole seconds, which is often past the point where that fight is decided, and even then you only get a 9% increase, which certainly won’t win you a fight. I’m really thankful for riftmaker, it at least shows that riot acknowledges ap bruisers, but it really falls short in my opinion, and doesn’t belong in A tier. IMO they should give it a passive that applies 100% omnivamp to the first champion hit with an aoe ablility, and make the passive a little more impactful. But that’s just my opinion as an AP bruiser enjoyer. Thanks for the great vid!
Vars, I love everything you put out, keep up the good work, I love all the deep topics and am always excited to hear your thoughts. The only thing I would change is a tiny bit more clarity as to what each tier means, still a banger video
I 100% agree that stridebreaker should have kept the dash and lowered/ removed the damage or slow. It feels only good on champs that have dashes or ms boosts
I think ranking champions based on their lane in terms of how good they are might a cool tier list or champions based on their lore and design too. Also good job on the vid
I totally agree with you, as for me a Tank main I really love Frostfire Gauntlet for bonus hp and increase size. I love big and bulky champ in League + Frostfire's passive increase hp and size.
glorious video as always vars, though I feel that if you are going to say hextech protobelt is S tier, then why not give galeforce S tier too? it gives speed to most adcs that require mobility. as an adc main, whenever I lack speed I just do galeforce, and outrun most of assassins so they don't kill me. its a really good item to position yourself well. with krakenslayer of immortal shieldbow, once you are grabbed by a nautilus Q, or a malphite ults you, its game over. but with galeforce, you can escape quickly and maintain distance while remaining safe as a good adc would do. I am just saying my perspective of course, I still loved the video a lot! and I totally agree that everfrost was a gamechanger, but not totally OP in the end :) (goredrinker was still more op lol)
As far as I remember, Shurelya's Reverie (Now battlesong) was always the movespeed item from its release. Ever since it built from Philo stone, up to when it got removed and replaced by Talisman of Ascension, then being put back before being turned into the Battlesong we know of today
i like the way you understant and explain the game! the tier list was great. I'm playing since season 4, and in this moment im not into ranked. I preffer normals with those champs with a pretty different gameplay like signed, teemo, urgot, karma, samira, akshan. Also, for some champs i cant find a item to excel and i almost preffer go no mythics till second or thirth item (singed, jayce, teemo...) maybe im a troll
This video was fun. After listening to you ranking this items I feel unsatisfied. I need to know more. I want to know what would you change about those items to balance them better as some of them still feel like a random pile of stats. I want to know which items would you degrade from mythic, which you would elevate to (if any) and what new mythic items would you introduce to fill the gaps left in the current set. More.
Love the video! Maybe a little more clarification about what you are looking at would be nice like (creativity application, dynamic game play etc I see you did in your comment but just saying in the video would be nice too ^_^) Also I personally would switch dusk abd eclipse I still don't know why assassins need an item dedicated to durability and tank destruction
It's interesting that almost all of the A-tier items provide some sort of healing. And while yes, the healing wasn't the main focus in the video (maybe with the exception of Goredrinker), it still makes you think
I was wondering why you rated shield bow so highly but in one of your previous videos you said how it's not as great as everyone makes it out to be because adcs have no resistances to back up the shield. Really enjoyed the video ^^
Imperial mandate is super popular in Aram, especially on ashe where you build haste and by late game she's basically firing her w every 2 seconds. So she's just hammering the enemy team with arrows and marks. Seems dumb, each hit might not hurt much but when you're getting slammed every 2 seconds and slowed with a big bullseye on you, suddenly its not so dumb.
Everfrost makes a clunky Zilean stun combo just about impossible to miss, and being a new zilean player and being able to smack down an ever frost into double q root plus e slow combo makes him OP
Sry to disagree with you vars I kinda think duskblade should be placed higher coz almost all of the assassins have stealth on ULT not making it readily available unlike Akali or qiyana . Even Akali has stealth only in her shroud .
I think that the content explained within the video was good however graphically i would at least at the end of the video like to see all of the things ranked in the traditional format for tierlist in a future video.
Duskblade definitely doesn’t give you enough invis to get out of a teamfight. When you jump in as an assassin, they love to drop cc all over you. Lots of hard cc isn’t lock-on, so it can still hit you, and slows are almost all aoe (I can’t think of a non-aoe slow), so even if the duskblade invis was enough time, you’re usually cc’d somewhat which negates that time
Thoughts on these videos: I like them. I think I slightly prefer the other type of videos a bit more because it shows what you are capable of, if that makes sense. Such high quality videos are somewhat rare, and I'm somebody that can really appreciate quality products (or videos). But the prefer could also just be a timing thing (since I quit league at around the same timing as you starting those videos). TL;DR: both are great. I'll watch anything you make either way :D About keystone ranking video: It could possibly be interesting to add the removed Kleptomancy into the mix (only removed keystone I could think of). Either way I'm looking forward to it.
In case I didn't make it clear: I rated these mythics based on a mixture of function, design and application, not by how strong they are atm. So everyone asking me why I didn't rank Divine Sunderer SSSSSSSSSSS+ Tier, that's why.
I agree with the guy saying yuumi is an item . Please change that the next time uwu
I liked the soothing music it was relaxing for a groggy Sunday like today
Divine Sunderer almost feels overrated right now.
Strongest item imo is Yummi. She is so strong she is almost a champion

Here's a possible spin-off series of why no one plays you could do: "Why no one builds." It's basically the same thing as why no one plays, just focusing on items instead of champions. Trinity Force seems a natural fit for an episode.

adc mythics: dash, true damage, shield
tank mythics: LITERALLY 3 OF THEM HAVE A SUNFIRE PASSIVE
@@belivuk2526 no. No need for more dashes
I am totally with you on that.
very good points and i definitely agree
however, in this scenario that you are building (in which champs should not be able to build to nullify weaknesses)
league of legends could become something akin to rock, paper, scissors
ADCs kite against juggernauts, assassins beat adcs, juggernauts beat assassins, etc. etc. (i'm oversimplifying but you get my point)
while this would promote a need for balanced team comps, people would not enjoy it since they want to play what they want to play
it seems like league is trying to make these scenarios of "omfg, i literally cannot do anything; this class just completely counters my class" more obsolete
reiterating my stance, i do agree with you and how vars describes it "the identities of classes are becoming more convuluted"
but from a company perspective, you need to keep your audience engaged while also garnering new players
/shrug

Frostfire: Tank but slows and big
Chemtank: Tank but fast
I'd love a tank mythic that has no other combat stats than survivability. No damage. It could have an active that lets you take 80% less damage for 4 seconds with a one minute cooldown. I would love that on Braum, Dr. Mundo or maybe even olaf.

Imho duskblade is absolutely busted on Khazix, synergy with the passive is sick. I have played way too many games that were won solely by 1 fed khazix that 1 shoted all the team one by one without any chance of counterplay.
Duskblade: gets ranked D-Tier.
Yi in Aram: "So anyways, i had 5 pentakills without being seen a single second."
It's absolutely crazy how useless Yi is at first in ARAM then when he gets ult and Duskblade becomes utterly unstoppable.

I used to build Shurelya's on Singed until it was nerfed a while back. Was fun
@@salj.5459 good on you that sounds really funny actually haha
But that might just be me, honestly.)
not necessarily more diverse but more specialized
for example, b4 the item rework, there were some items that would just do everything (COUGH COUGH DEATH'S DANCE) and some that nobody built bc they were too situational (like ohmwrecker)
the item rework was made to uproot these terrible items and make items that would make you better in certain scenarios but not every single scenario (ex: the new death's dance is a pretty cool item compared to its previous rendition: armor, dmg, ability haste, anti AD passive --> more specialized but it works really well)
mythics are only a handful of these items that were created/reworked to do said things
the reason mythics have become monotone is that they created the problem they were trying to fix: the meta has become too stale -> assassins and divers/drain-tanks are too prevalent and thus require the same items to be built every single game
the same scenarios appear every single game (like being dove on by a nocturne or smthng) and you need shieldbow or goredrinker for that scenario every single game
(it also doesn't help that the meta is so much quicker and thus these specialized items don't get to shine like Death's Dance)
@@kadalix In the same vein the anti-heal items are still built every game because champs heal too much
Galeforce can be used on xayah to position for feathers, that's all i can think of.
@@leaflotus6726 true, but it's also great for chasing (like a short dash to attack with jhin's last fourth shot, a champ that doesn't have any mobility option)
this same concept can also be applied to other champs but alas (as i mentioned in my comment above)
diver and assassins are too prevalent so galeforce (which, imo, is mainly used for chasing) is completely useless because people will try and walk towards you (and burst you) anyway
Aurelion sol can unironically use every mage mythic, other than maybe riftmaker, but even that can work sometimes.
Just thought it was interesting to mention
the ranking of every rune keystone would be so good for me cuz I'm new to the game and it would help me understand runes
Look for runes in the recommended build, READ what they do before the game and you'll grasp what they do and how to use them properly overtime
Don't use Omnistone and you would be fine xD
Just think what your champion needs and build you runes around that champion
u.gg shows the highest winrate runes for your champion, but i'd recommend adjusting them based on what you need on game by game basis
A tierlist for runes doesn't even make sense because they have different uses for different classes

At this point they should just rework trinity force no one goes that over divine sunderer, literally no one it just bad and the champs that use it already have auto attack resets so they don’t even need attack speed, I would even say essence reaver is better on most ways than trinity
Gp does, because divine doesn't work with barrels
The reason its bad is because it doesnt give anything that sunderer doesnt give and that the mythic passive of sunderer is just better than any other mythic passive in the game.
It's not an interesting buy for anyone, you buy it for the stats because there's no other item like it
Speaking as a LoL beginner your videos are a a blessing! Thank you!
"Now ADCs can actually do stuff in the midgame and not get oneshotted by tanks."
And tanks now feel a lot weaker since their midgame powerspike gets overshadowed and they don't scale late, being pushed out more by bruisers in lane doesn't help (at least until they get bramble, but then there's sunderer).
Win some lose some
bc tanks being strong means tank meta and no one likes a tank meta bc you ACTUALLY have to work with your team to win or basically just kill the tank
all games especially during this day and age are moving towards a quicker pace bc people don't like longer games for one reason or another (good example is hearthstone)
i still prefer slower games, but such is life
but why would you want to get oneshotted by a tank? by virtue, a tank's role is to soak up damage and defend its allies, not be a powerhouse of damage. sure, there are hybrid roles, but if you are just strictly tank, why is damage needed? some is okay, but getting oneshot by a tank is quite unfair.

Definitely a fantastic video and series hopefully. It’s a nice change of pace from taking in a bunch of info.
I still remember the time where Frostfire Gauntlet (then Iceborn Gauntlet) has the spellblade effect in its kit. The extra damage every time we use ability is insane. It also gives mana which helps a lot for the champs that has mana issues.
amazing viedo, its good to see the oppinion of others on he items makes it easier to see it from another angle because when i look at the items i just associate them with the champions that will build them not the champions that can build them to be better at their job.
it would be awesome to talk about the best legendary items, some of them are even crazier than the mythics (zhonyas, hello?) but i know it would be a much harder video for you to make since not only the number of them, but also because you would be double dipping on some already addressed topics like grev wounds and lifesteal

Love this type of vid and I thing the champion tier list for each lane is a great idea
i'm so glad someone else recognizes how amazing frostfire is, good video! also if u put omni stone low down in that next video and not in some "underrated" i'll be a little bit sadface, it's so good if you know ur champion really well and know that they can work well with it
I liked this video mostly because I stopped playing League for 4 years and recently started playing again and getting an update on what some of these items do is very helpful.
10/10 it helped me understand items better, id love to get this quality of information for keystones too
:)
I really like the new form of presenting the tier list, but i´d like to see the full tier list at the end in the estandar format
If you want to blow up the back line and not get blown up yourself, get Duskblade.
ikr after prowlers nerf duskblade is the go to for lethality builds
This was helpful, I'd love to see more!
in my opinion
i think mythics should expel champions strengths, not covering there weakness
for example : jinx should have the choice of three mythics
1.more range
2.more single target dmg
3.more aoe dmg
making her still vurnable to divers and assassins
cuz u would pick tristana, ezreal, xayah if u wanted a safe adc
This is very interesting and enjoyable, mostly because your voice is so calm, love it
Hey Vars, I must say that one thing you did really well in this video was being unbiased. I was pleasantly surprised when you put Everfrost in S tier because it truly changes up and adds to a champion even though you have talked about how busted that makes it, because it really does change the game to make some champs better. I would recommend to keep that mentality for the next vid
Thanks for putting the descriptions on the screen
6:58 the thresh's flay was beautiful
Vars, I love everything you put out, keep up the good work, I love all the deep topics and am always excited to hear your thoughts. The only thing I would change is a tiny bit more clarity as to what each tier means, still a banger video
I 100% agree that stridebreaker should have kept the dash and lowered/ removed the damage or slow. It feels only good on champs that have dashes or ms boosts
YESS PLSSS make the keystone ranking! Looking forward to it!
Ahh the whole video was so calming it helped me go to sleep before 5 AM
I love this Thank you Vars, Now I understand more about these Mythics.
glorious video as always vars, though I feel that if you are going to say hextech protobelt is S tier, then why not give galeforce S tier too? it gives speed to most adcs that require mobility. as an adc main, whenever I lack speed I just do galeforce, and outrun most of assassins so they don't kill me. its a really good item to position yourself well. with krakenslayer of immortal shieldbow, once you are grabbed by a nautilus Q, or a malphite ults you, its game over. but with galeforce, you can escape quickly and maintain distance while remaining safe as a good adc would do.
Great video, hoping to see more of this
i like the way you understant and explain the game! the tier list was great.
It was fun, wouldn't mind if you made more like these
Nice video dude, tou should make more of these
This video was fun.
Maybe a little more clarification about what you are looking at would be nice like (creativity application, dynamic game play etc I see you did in your comment but just saying in the video would be nice too ^_^)
Also I personally would switch dusk abd eclipse I still don't know why assassins need an item dedicated to durability and tank destruction
Duskblade is a Nasus core item. Really nice addition to the game, since it legit helps the champion a lot.
I fear the day a flickering Nasus will carry games
It's interesting that almost all of the A-tier items provide some sort of healing. And while yes, the healing wasn't the main focus in the video (maybe with the exception of Goredrinker), it still makes you think
Hell yeah I’d love to see a key stone version of this
conq s tier
I was wondering why you rated shield bow so highly but in one of your previous videos you said how it's not as great as everyone makes it out to be because adcs have no resistances to back up the shield.
Really enjoyed the video ^^
Hence why it's in A tier not S tier XD If adcs had resistances it would be the best mythic in the game.
honestly loved this vid and would love more
Ranking/tier list vids are my favorite ones on your channel. Is the support ability tier list still in the works?
You should probably change the name to ranking mythic by how much i like them/how appealing they are to me
I liked the video, even though I don't agree with everything. One thing I would add is a recap image at the end with all placements perhaps?
I like how the fact that Vars hates duskblade so much it had its own tier
I think that the content explained within the video was good however graphically i would at least at the end of the video like to see all of the things ranked in the traditional format for tierlist in a future video.
Duskblade definitely doesn’t give you enough invis to get out of a teamfight. When you jump in as an assassin, they love to drop cc all over you. Lots of hard cc isn’t lock-on, so it can still hit you, and slows are almost all aoe (I can’t think of a non-aoe slow), so even if the duskblade invis was enough time, you’re usually cc’d somewhat which negates that time
I liked this, but we defo need a visual tier list on the side or soemthing
Agree would've kept the Small Dash + Weak Slow Stridebreaker since I was using it on Udyr back when Chemtank was a tad bit too easy to win.
LOVE THIS
please make more of these
Thoughts on these videos:
I like them.
I'll watch anything you make either way :D
About keystone ranking video:
It could possibly be interesting to add the removed Kleptomancy into the mix (only removed keystone I could think of). Either way I'm looking forward to it.
