      Thanks! That's super low humidity! Do you just keep the substrate wet?

    I have both Ball Pythons and Hognose snakes in my snake room. The hognoses like it a bit cooler for their ambient so I try to keep it around 75 in the room. That makes keeping the ball pythons happy a bit more difficult though.

      It's definitely harder when there's 2 different climate zones you need to pay attention to.

      I have Brazilian Rainbow boas and Ball Pythons in my snake room. The rainbow boas like it much colder (82° max for a hot spot). I keep my heater set at 72° but the ambient temp seems to stay at 75°. That being said, all my snakes eat breed and thrive. I also use lid on tubs in my racks with larger heat pads instead of the typical 3-4inch heat tape so I'm sure that helps keep the ambient inside their tubs more along the 78-80° range, (have radiant heat panels in rainbow boa enclosures).

    Great video, lots of information! Im in the process of converting my garden shed in to a reptile room. Dont suppose you have a link for that space heater? Thanks

    If you're on a concrete floor then a simple in floor heating system would have saved a ton of time and money. It's a process and yes you have to pour self leveling concrete but its radiant heat supplied by hhot water. Cost me 600$ Canadian to do my whole basement. That type of heat turns everything in the room into a heat sync. Everything touching the floor becomes slowly warmed and the floor is always warm. Best part is the temp is consistent across 1250 square feet allowing a stable standardized no hot or cold spots room. It also doesnt dry out the air the same way as exposed heating elements. Creates a very stable environment even if power is lost all the stuff in the room including the concrete will continue to radiate heat for hours after loss.

      Thanks Nick! Great advice! This actually never came up anywhere when I was researching. My gas heater is working perfectly right now, but if I ever move or buy a space I may go this direction.

      Absolutely! A couple hundred bucks in parts and labor and I'm set. Plus, it keeps the humidity perfect!

    Doesn't space heaters cause fires if always kept on?

    Quick question should you temp the tubs under the coco substrate or temp the top of the substrate I’m afraid if I get the substrate to 90 if the snake decides to burrow or move the substrate I don’t want them sitting on the bare tub and it being higher then 90 maybe I’m over thinking it I dunno

    • @SNKELTD
      @SNKELTD  Месяц назад +1

      measure temps on the bare tub

    Id love to have a heater like the one you first showed. What brand is that? Does it have auto on if power goes off and comes back on? Thats the issue i have using the digitak heaters so i use the analog because they come back on but yet a guessing game with temps

    Do you need heat if the reptile room is warm enough?

  • @agentredbone1667

    I just built a 120 gallon enclosure and I'm worried about heating. What do you think would be good to warm this big enclosure? It's all wood with a glass front. Pads won't work for this one.

    • @SNKELTD
      @SNKELTD  2 года назад

      Probably radiant heat panels

      @@SNKELTD ok. I'll look into it. The local tractor supply has chicken coop radiant heaters at 200 watts and are small. Like 15 inches long by 10 inches wide. Wonder of that would work. Has a built in thermostat too
