Exactly the same sentiments from me -- never a big fan of their music but respected what they were doing at the time (making tons of $$$). So, I heard this unknown beauty from the movie years ago and remarked, "Wow! What song is *that*?" Interestingly, I found out from YT comments here that they didn't even write the song -- it's an Orpheus tune from the late '60s. By far, my favorite Hootie song though... Peace!
The chorus makes me picture the iconic scenes in Me, Myself, and Irene, like where that long line of police cars crest the top of the hill and come down the other side lights flashing, or where Jim Carrey is weeing the disabled guys car, the spider scene, or the cut of the main characters driving along as they're getting away, staying one step ahead of the law, all while this song plays.
OMG! I can't believe that this song was re-done! I remember this song from when I was a kid (I believe it was released in the late 60s) and I have always loved the harmonies! So happy to see it's given a rebirth! Thanks, Hootie & The Blowfish!!
Claudia i wish i could find one but i can’t…not even available on itunes by rose colored glass. I believe it’s better than Orpheus and got a lot of play in Pittsburgh. Sorry i cant help.
So glad the director of "Me,myself & Irene" placed this song in the movie -- he recognized a great song from the past! Bruce Arnold wrote a beautiful song.
The song reminds me of a day in the early week of March when you're calm and have a lot of time but you don't know how to propose that girl you're constantly talking with ;)
Mercy, when I first heard this song on the movie "Me, Myself & Irene" I automatically knew I found a jewel. Orpheus did great, but hey, Hoodie and the Blowfish made excellent!
Released in spring of 1968 by one-hit wonder band Orpheus, this song had the same sunshine R&B vibe that Grazin' In The Grass, Love or Let Me Be Lonely, certain 5th Dimension/Laura Nyro, even Spanky & Our Gang/Mamas & Papas songs had. It was a Godawful time for the USA but great music.
Excellent remake of an old sixties song (that I'm old enough to remember). Just recently came across this song, never knew they did this. Was never a big fan of Hootie and the Blowfish, but am more familiar with Darius Rucker as a country artist. He has a beautiful voice!
I have replied to this song several times. I was six years old when the song came out. The original band sounds just like. The original band sounds just like Hootie and the Blowfish. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to meet and sing with him just one time because I know how this never gets old
Reminds me of the simple times when life was easy and I had no worries 😁 Life is precious and you should make the most of the little time we have people’s
Regardless of the content, the one thing the Farrelly Brothers nail in their movies, consistently, is the soundtrack. Always one smooth, breezy, feel good track on the albums. This, Todd Rundgren, Empire Of The Sun... They really do know how to pick 'em.
I First heard this in my Dad’s car when I was around Five years old, and I’ve been listening to it ever since. It makes me think back on my childhood memories and fills me with nostalgia whenever I hear it today. Along with making me think back on my past obsessions with Thomas The Tank Engine and Club Penguin. 😂
Some of you think others of us care what brought you here. At the end of the day, excellent music brought you here!! The blend of perfect song with perfect artist played perfectly should be celebrated.
"price check on vagiclean aisle 5 I repeat vagiclean aisle 5 that's vagiclean we have a customer with a full on Filopian fungus she's baking bread and its sourdough"
Song was originally done by Orpheus in 1968 (and that original was #1 for 2015 in the annual IRS (It Really Shoulda Been a Top 10 Hit) vote, second time it was at #1), also done by Rose Colored Glass in 1971 and again by Bruce Arnold (lead singer of Orpheus) with the late Brad Delp of Boston fame on backup vocals in 1988 (not released until 2010). All of those versions are on RUclips.
Almost 20 years of, secretly, making fun of my mom for liking Hootie and The Blowfish. I never understood why some of their CDs lay in her collection. Unbeknownst to me, one of their songs has been among my favorites for years and I never knew until this moment!
goddamnit this movie hits home so hard for me. first time watching it was around 10 years old...not understanding half the humor but still loving every bit of Jim Carrey. followed by this soundtrack that movie throws me into a time machine. life is funny. and this is my favorite Jim Carrey movie. cheers.

Quit trying to promote your crap music
Agreed! They were ok in my childhood but then I watched that movie when I graduated and I loved the soundtrack.
It's not a hootie song... It's a cover. Sorry to ruin your childhood 😃
Me too

i never thought I'd ever like a Hootie song...but...there it is!!!! (Me, Myself and Irene brought me here)

Every time I hear this song. I fall in love with it.

A beautiful love song. 💕
Why cant...I stop hitting the replay button?

Their best song. Thank you "Me Myself and Irene"
It's a cover. Not their song. But, they killed it.
Me, Myself, and Irene was a staple of my childhood. One of the funniest movies of all time.
2024 anyone 😍

Excellent cover of the late 1960s Orpheus song.

Same here
Im here now an I seen that movie years ago
Me, myself and Irene brought me here great movie 😂
This song reminds me of a simpler time
Darius Rucker and his band nailed this song !!
Never was into Hootie but this song is so damn good. A good example on how to be better than the original, which is a classic.
I agree. I like this better than Orpheus's version.
Beautiful song. I like this better than the original version.
This song never really got the recognition like the others from Hootie & The Blowfish. I think it's one of their best..
Don its actually a cover of orpheous. i like hooties version better than theirs but it probably didnt get as much attention cuz its a cover
Absolutely!
OMG! I can't believe that this song was re-done! I remember this song from when I was a kid (I believe it was released in the late 60s) and I have always loved the harmonies! So happy to see it's given a rebirth! Thanks, Hootie & The Blowfish!!
Originally by "Orpheus"....a great band from Worcester, Mass. Got played a lot on WBZ in Boston by Dick Sommer....who was way ahead of his time.

Also done by Rose Colored Glass in about ‘70. I actually like it better than Orpheus’ version.
@@yankeerebel65 any link to that version you could share?

I miss this kind of music. Hootie and Blues Traveler and Matchbox twenty

I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it in the movie.
Fantastic.
I remember it from 68
This song is awesome! Totally didn't know it was in "me myself and Irene" until I watched it again. One of Hootie & the Blowfish's underrated songs
So glad the director of "Me,myself & Irene" placed this song in the movie -- he recognized a great song from the past! Bruce Arnold wrote a beautiful song.
Only song that I love from Hootie....... Fresh as a summer breeze.
Yes, another little gem from 1968
everything about me myself and irene was fantastic including this soundtrack! one of the best movies ever
all farrelly brothers movies soundtracks are the best
Funniest damn movie ever! The lines were classics and Hank was the ultimate prick!!
ABSOLUTELY love the movie 🎥 & the soundtrack …2 home runs from the GREAT Farrelly Brothers. Love everything about their movies 🎥
Been listening to this song for 3 days now on repeat. Gotta play it until it’s played out
Orpheus, 1968, a great tune. This cover is superb
This song lives rent free in my head I’ll just randomly start singing it out of no where
This and the world ain't slowing down by Ellis Paul. Permanently burned into my brain lol.
2020 Representing... How cool of a redo
Love this song! Can’t believe it got backseat treatment in the music world. The writing and performance is spot on!
Damn good cover of a damn good and underrated tune!!
The song reminds me of a day in the early week of March when you're calm and have a lot of time but you don't know how to propose that girl you're constantly talking with ;)
This Orpheus song was one of my favorites when I was a kid.
I CAN'T BELIEVE I FOUND THIS SONG THANK YOU!!! ❤❤❤❤

So do I.
Love this song AND Darius Rucker. I'd know that distinctive voice anywhere! ❤

I could listen to that sexy voice all night long singing just that song. Who knew an oldie from the sixties could be redone so well by Hootie!
It is a warm, sweet smelling summer day condensed into a song.
Beautifully put. Spot on.
Couldn't have put it better myself man , genuinely
My favorite song by him. Sounds even better than the original. He sure put his heart in this one. 💙
This is a song that keeps my alive the memory of falling in love with my beloved late husband ty

what a lovely song. as many got this from me myself and irene.just had to know who it was hootie?.i want to play this with my band at next gig sweet
it's by someone else but Darius sounds better
The original came out when I was in middle school. Beautiful and made me cry. Hooties did their cover rockier, but cool.
Charlie, what the hell is that!?
James Davidson I'm not falling for that. How dumb do you think I look?!
