My older boys. Great music
Great regional hit that their record company blew big time ...
Timeless music.
It is one of my favorite songs of all time.
Hello
I absolutely adore all the versions of this song
Unfortunately there's one on songs you might have missed vol 2 that I can't seem to get
I tried to buy the CD but seemed unable . Can you help me?
You guys are awesomely talented
@@alys.project9837 That series was released by the notorious Alan Lorber on his Iris Music Group label. "I look at your pretty face and I fall in love with you fall in love with you every time I see you, yeah." My Lord what a beautiful line.
Absolutely a beautiful line.
One of the most underrated songs of all-time.
Hell yeah.
100 %
This is such a romantic real song❤
If there were lyrics that made sense it could have been top 10.
I agree with you as to it being one of the most underrated songs of all times....I have always loved it and my appreciation for it has never waned. I still play it every now and then... In fact I posted it on my Facebook page last night. ( newer Facebook page). I will post it every once in a while when I`m listening to it to see if I get a reaction from anyone who remembers or appreciates it but no one has ever reacted to the song which makes me kinda sad because it`s such a beautiful song. I will take it to my grave...lol. I``m 67 yrs old and have had quite a collection since I was 12 yrs old. I just listened to "The Weight" by "The Band" also which was a great song too. Sooooooo many great songs !! They keep me alive !! Well thanks for appreciating the Orpheus song !! And have a great day !!
One of the great songs. Today's American culture will never produce anything like it.
Definitely not true. In fact, one of my CURRENT favorite young artists not only makes amazing music very much in the vein of late 60s-early 70s baroque/sunshine pop, he even did a covers album where he did this very song! Please check out The Explorers Club. Jason Brewer is a genius.
Try looking. Lotsa great new stuff on college alternate radio. KEXP KRCL KBAC WERS WCHC all stream new music that record execs won't push.
@@rodgre They do sound good.
Ya luv it great times nice ladies ❤

As I turn 72 y/o tomorrow, I am wondering where--------oh where-------the years have gone?? I can still see me playing this 45 on my small stereo, so taken with it, I had to go tell all my friends. -------------WolfSky9
My best friend from college introduced me to this song in the fall of 1971--she was a freshman from Boston and I was a sophomore and she used to play this album in her dorm room. I fell in love with them and this song. Still love it.
Happy belated birthday to you! The years are still here and free! EVERY DAYS A HOLIDAY!!
WolfSky9 As I approach 70 I say the same thing to myself almost every day. I see old movies on TV that I saw first run in the movies and I remember them like it was yesterday; then I see the copyright date of 1972 and I just know it couldn't have been 47 years ago. I used to think that I was blessed because I had a great memory; my friends envied me because I didn't have to study so hard because of this gift of recall...my family never consulted the TV Guide to see what was on TV, they just asked me. Little did I know that a great memory in youth becomes a curse in old age as you can't rid yourself of times, places and especially loves that no longer exist except in my memory. Instead of happiness, these memories have made me sad and depressed. I think sometimes that I'd rather not have them, but then again, I'm not so sure if I really want that.
Hey Wolf in with you. I turn 72 Nov.7th. I have 9 grandchildren. The time goes by faster the older I get. My dad told me the same thing when I was younger. He is passed now back in 2004. God bless.
One year later, still the same feeling.
This is one of those songs that doesn’t just bring back memories of the sixties. I can feel those memories as if they just happened.
Ya great memories my life was going good 21 yrs old in love with my girl ❤
I am 74 and still adore this song; makes me tear up to reminisce over so many who have passed on from my life.......
Reminds me of the love of my life who I will never see again. Sad but a beautiful memory.
Ya luv it ❤
Me too..
Me too. The song came to me in my head, I realized I forgot all about it, about 2 years ago out of the blue...So, I post it to hear it again sometimes.
This was my father Alan’s favorite song. He passed away recently and I listen to it just in case he can still hear it. ❤️
He can!
@@orpheusband Wow! I wanna cry every time I hear this song. It's simply beautiful and screams LOVE!

It's 1968, I'm 10 years old, this song has taken me back there....crying rn, for better times.

Such a Boston song!
My wedding song 44 years ago. My husband picked it out. I had a hard time coming up with the perfect song for us. Let me tell you this song was perfect so sexy and spoke volumes
Cool happy for you ❤
❤
This beautiful song is one of my all-time favorites! I reached out to Orpheus through their social media account to ask about purchasing some music and to my great delight they offered to send me the files to the music. They said they are happy to provide music files, lyrics, and signed CDs to their fans free of charge. They also asked me if I wanted to be included on their mailing list because they send complimentary Orpheus goodies to their fans. Who does anything like that these days? Thank you, Orpheus!
Big local hit on WORC in 1968. The whole album was good. They came to our high school and played in the gym, a great show. Dedicated "Wild Man of Borneo" to the principal. Three years later this became a national hit.
WORC, I assume Worcester, where Orpheus was from? This song got extra heavy airplay on WMEX Boston where I lived in '68. AM radio baby we didn't know from FM yet. I was 10 years old at the time and liked it even then; now, it's a real nostalgia trip. One of the deejays even brought it back a year or 2 later and it climbed back up the local charts. It really is timeless. Peace.
There is just something about this that takes you to a better place.........
Yeah, 8th grade Mary that I was sweet on but didn't know 7th grade me was alive. I listened to this constantly dreaming, hoping, praying. Memories so etched in my brain that hearing this today still produces the feeling in my stomach 50 years later. Thanks for the memories!
Just heard this song today on XM radio. Hadn't heard in "in a thousand ages" :) & HAD to add it to my youtube playlist. Should have been a bigger hit!!!
MGM made many mistakes in their publizing it. It is a classic that has even appeared int he movie- Me, Myself & I recorded by Hootie & the Blowfish
One of those 'coming of age songs' that instantly puts me back there...where did the time go?
That's why I cry when I hear it. Every time.
What a great time to be alive....
One of the most beautiful songs ever!! I wanted this played as my wedding song in 1971 and the Church singer couldn't find it anywhere!! I was crushed!! Love them!!
One of the most unique and underrated good songs from years back.
So true
Yes sir
Not under rated , maybe not exposed
Brings me back to the 60s driving in the car with my family. Even as a kid, I knew it was a classic. Love it so much!
I love the Labrador/Golden retriever puppy. 🙂
One of the most underrated bands in history.
Without a doubt!
Yes greatest
This song didn't even crack the top 20.
This song should've went straight to # 1
(1 solid week at the top would've been good enough)
My husband was friends with the group. We visited Jack in NH and I asked to sing this song. THANK YOU JACK!!
I am 76 an was living outside of Boston in the late 60’s. This was one of my favorite songs! Dick Summer was the late night DJ on WBZ radio and promoted this local band.
Dick Summer passed away not long ago....Legend.
What a beautiful song. It is timeless.
Agree; So underrated.
I from about 25 minutes from Worcester Massachusetts where this group is from. I'm 58 years old but fall in love with this songs in 1987 and I was 22. The first time I heard this Gem. Beautiful music and lyrics to match.
I have watched this video hundreds of times I have been listening to that song since 1968 I think. I still have my original 45 and I still have a stereo to play it on. I don’t know what it is about this song, but it just puts me into a whole different orbit. Where is the music today?
As strange as this may sound, the music of the 1960s was a big part of being a teenager in the 1980s. Oldies radio stations were popping up everywhere in the United States of America when I was in high school back then. When I worked as a busboy at the Ground Round Restaurant when I was 19 years old back in 1983, there was a group named Fred that performed there; and they would perform this same song by Orpheus. Therefore, even though I don't remember this song as a toddler when it was first released in 1968, I heard it on the radio all the time as a teenager. This was a beautiful song that was loved by both the Baby Boomer Generation and my generation - Generation X. It had that mystical and sentimental way about it.
I used to love to go to the Ground round! Did you work at any of them that are in Massachusetts by chance??
@@j.j.austin2225 No. Further south.
totally understand
Inspite listening to older music through the years never heard this on the radio. Only an internet station. Wonder if it was played on limited stations when released?
@@MIKECNW The radio station that I heard it on was a solid oldies radio station that was 35 miles out from the city.
55 years later, I still come here once a week to play this song. I have the original 45 but I’m always with my phone so it’s much easier. I can tell you after 55 years. I still don’t know the meaning of the lyrics but it’s a beautiful beautiful song.❤
Bruce Arnold explains the meaning behind the lyrics in this interview...

thank you so much for that. Now I don’t feel lost makes me love it even more.!
During 67-68 I had a friend in college, Little Lyn, who came back from one of her off campus adventures to say that she'd been hitchhiking and was picked up by some nice guys from Worcester who were in a band called Orpheus! This was before the first record came out :-)

One word - masterpiece. One of the Ultimate Lost 45’s.
Long time coming...sorry...RIP Bruce Arnold! Thank you for all the great music and memories!
I used to love this song because i was there. Now, I love this song because I remember I was there
I hear ya !! Emotional way points of our lives
I was there also. Age 15, Middletown,CT This band always in the back of my psychedelic mind.

Perfect encapsulation of how to appreciate the emotional timelessness of this song.

RIP BRUCE my friend ..you will be missed , but your song will live forever!!
I believe that we will never lose our loved ones as long as we keep their memories alive ♥
One of those great songs from the past that never became a big hit, but everyone seems to love. Maybe it was just a head of its time when it first came out.
I think the record company did not distribute it throughtout the country at the same time so it should have been higher on the charts
New England and NYC hit. Should have been nationwide. Back in the day, this was done by every cover band in the area.
I wasn't even born yet but i love this song.....
This is way before my time but there's something about this song that gets me every time I hear it. Definitely an underrated band. I love this song. ❤
Cool 😎
I turn 73 y/o in 20 days-------I needed to hear this Masterpiece-------And, I never ------ever-----tire of it. ----------------WolfSky9
I hope you are doing well
I was 14 and thought about what a beautiful song this was.
❤
Yes, always a beautiful song. I've always loved it and always will.❤❤❤❤❤❤
One of my favorite Groups of all time. In 1969 I saw them "live" in Worcester, Mass. while i was working there that year. I loved it and though I haven't heard them for many years. "Can't Find the Time" has stayed in my mind all these years. Great Song. Great Lyrics. Great Memories! Thank You RUclips for helping find Orpheus again!
Welcome!
One of the BEST songs ever recorded!!!!!!!!!
I heard this song for the first time yesterday as You tube led me to it after listening to spanky and gang ( like to get to know you ) … however I have this feeling that it was fed into my ears as a 3 year old when my Nan died in 68. Can’t stop playing it on guitar now
Worcester Telegram & Gazette, October 28, 2022; Bruce Arnold, co-founder of Orpheus, remembered by Worcester friends and musicians, by Richard Duckett--Bruce Arnold, a founder of the Worcester rock group Orpheus and the writer and lead vocalist of its atmospheric 1968 hit "Can't Find the Time," "had a big heart and tons of passion," recalled his friend and fellow bandmate and Worcesterite Howie Hersh. Arnold was also extremely animated, "like standing next to a ball of fire," Hersh said. "It was not all of a sudden." Arnold has been unwell for a while and died several days ago, but the family wanted to keep matters private before making the announcement. After signing with MGM Records, Orpheus released four quite successful and well-regarded albums between 1968 and '71 and toured the country. Then in 2014, after a gap of about 40 years, Arnold, who lived many years in Marin County in California, returned to Worcester to perform a concert titled "Orpheus: The Homecoming" that was held at Mechanics Hall. Arnold was happy at the prospect, as he related in an interview with the Telegram & Gazette. "I want to see everybody. I want to talk to everybody. I want to hear their Orpheus stories," Arnold said. No other information about Arnold's death was immediately available, but friends and fellow musicians have been reacting with sadness to the death of Arnold, and pointing out his place in Worcester's music history. Local Worcester music veteran Walter Crockett went to junior and high school with Arnold. " 'Can't Find The Time' was the first hit to come out of Worcester in the rock 'n' roll era, and it was a great pop song, much in the genre of the Association, but original," Crockett said. "Can't Find the Time" was the first release from the band's eponymous debut LP in 1968. A love song, it had a mesmerizing flavor and flow to an orchestral arrangement and the refrain of "I can't find the time to tell you." The song had re-releases and various interpretations, including one by Hootie & The Blowfish heard in the movie "Me, Myself and Irene." While together, Orpheus played on the same bill with a number of major acts of the era, including Cream, Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin, The Who and many others.
Sublime!!! Sooo beautiful. Thanks Bruce Arnold, thanks Orpheus. Thanks Bernard Purdie, and thanks to the Farelly Bros for introducing me to this song and Orpheus ❤
I love Worcester❤
RIP Bruce Arnold. Gone too soon.
love this song, brings such great joy to my life. So lucky to grow up in a generation of great music
These dudes produced some GREAT music! LOVE them!
What a great song! So many memories attached to it. Sixties music will live forever!
Wow, really feeling the love in all these nostalgic comments!! I'm 32 years old, and was disappointed at first to find that 99% of my favourite music was actually samples and covers. Then I started digging into those classics myself, and I guess this was one stop on the road to the meaning of 'timeless.'
It's April 2022, and this song has stuck to me. I first heard in the 1980s, and it just sends me somewhere beautiful.
I own this album --------on vinyl, of course---------and it is wonderful, & it plays as clear as it did back in the Fall of '68. Thank-you Bruce et al, for the music you gave us. ------------MJL, 75 y/o
Brings happy thoughts, and tears, to my eyes !!
Can't Find the Time was played Friday evening on Sirius XM 60's on 6. Hadn't heard it on the radio in ages. The one song that I will, thankfully, never get out of my head...so amazingly beautiful! We're so lucky to have all of their recordings. I know the record company messed up, but I still can't believe Orpheus never became the big time group it should have been. In my heart it was.
Nancy F. You speak the truth Nancy. Thank you for keeping Orpheus alive in your heart.
Thank you always for the music and for sharing your talents. Best wishes!
I was there. Boston. Dick Summer--WBZ. Dear god, I was there. Wish I had a time machine.
Go Ed!....mega-ditto's!!!...though WBCN....and Peter Wolf... were really growing in popularity when this cut was released....did you go to school in Boston?...I was BC '71....Since then, very different times and places.
Dick Summer still tweets and podcasts
@@mountlite Yeah....I connected with him. He's living in Pa....talking to him sure brought memories....and even a couple of tears.
The Loving Touch show and 'by the quoy of the quay of the queezy at the very same time' or something to that effect. Great Jock, great music.
You're using one already.
Discovered these guys when I was in graduate school in the mid 70s and I was just blown away. What harmony, original songs, arrangements, and instrumental backup. I bought every album I could find. Orpheus should have been a major force in recording. They’re so much better/more talented than 95% of the recording artists. Just beautiful music.
LOVE this song so much!!!!! No one else but Bruce Arnold can do this song justice!!!! I was only 15 yrs old when he recorded it!!!LOL
Lori Weinrib me too 15. Those were great times
Beautiful song period
Hootie and the blowfish did a really good job also
I love this song!!!
I was 13 so much fun happy memories
The 60's! Best decade to be alive and kicking! Best decade for music also!
I would have to agree. Even teenagers in the 1980s were into the music of the 1960s. Me for one.
Still crazy for this song, after all of these years. They just don't write em like this anymore, nor sing like this. I guess they just can't find the time, to put some work into their music. Thanks Orpheus.
And now, a new version by The Explorers Club ft. Steven Page (formerly of Barenaked Ladies)!

Love hootie and the blowfish cover. But, this one just hits different. So ahead of its time!
Remembering that day in '68 when we bumped elbows at the old Kelley Square Pizza down in Wormtown. Been over 50 years ago and that place' still standing.
This song brings back such memories of a strange and difficult time in my life. My body aches with sadness hearing it. Yet, it's such a beautiful, mesmerizing song. Thanks for the memories - both good and bad make us what we are.
I understand completely what you're saying
I get it, too.
This song have a melancholy kind of feeling, like remember someone who pass
takes me right back high school .... can't believe how long ago ... and yet only yesterday
Used to hear this on WRKO the automated rock station in Boston at the time. I moved up chasing what I thought was the love of my life. it didn't work. I stayed with some friends who had a place on Marlboro St. Went to the Cape, bummed around, then went back to CCSC... Those were the days!
Go Tom!....going to BC when this came out....living in Newton Center....listening to the legendary WBCN 104.1-FM....great memories.
tom c I lived in Boston during the time that this song became a hit. Used to hear it all the time on that radio station: WRKO! Ah yes, those were the days.
Very glad I rediscovered it here. I moved away from Boston in the 80s. Never realized that it was mostly a regional hit.
I'm 46 yes old. Only knew of this song from Me, Myself and Irene. Hootie and the Blowfish. Then in the comments said this was a cover for this group. I absolutely loooooove this version so much more. As a GenXer I came up listening to all this via my parents. This original sounds are beautiful.
just found this record at my local vinyl shop and I am not disappointed. Great album.
Stands the test of time. Gorgeous. Loved it then and now. Thank you Bruce Arnold.
Just. WOW. And even though they remind me of The Association, this is a one of a kind, stand alone gem. BRAVO!
THANK YOU, GUYS! This is one of the SWEETEST songs ever recorded!
They make me think of the Association too.
This song is yet another reason why the 1960s was THE greatest era of pop music EVER. We will never see another period like it for awesome music in our lifetimes. At least the microphones were on and the tape was rolling
You couldn't have said it any better.
Absolutely!
300% agree!!! So glad I grew up in the 60’s!
It just never gets old!
I grew up in the Bronx in the 80's but I love this song, it tells me that once there was a better, peaceful time. Thank you for the wonderful music that fit a few minutes, can bring me to a time and place I've never been
I found this album on cd in the UK about 10 years ago. I love this music!!
This always has been a great tune. It was ahead of its time back in the 60s. I heard it on an oldies station on Boston in the early 90s and it showed its lasting appeal. Great to revisit once more.
The first time I heard this song I didn't hear it again for about a year. It was briefly on WMCA, in nyc, then I went away to school. My sophomore year, a freshman from Boston had the album. We wore it out playing it. Now, in 2019 (about to be 2020 in 2 days) she and I are still friends, and it's still our go-to album from 1971. Thank you, Orpheus.
What a great song, it brings back such wonderful memories. This song was the theme song for my senior prom in 1972. The girl I took to my prom became my wife 44 years ago. I never took those great memories and made more great memories, for I have been a horrible husband to her. I got involved with something I should never have gotten involved with and over the years I’ve lied to her on so many occasions. I just hope one day she can forgive me for my lying to her and maybe hold hands once more.
I got this album at a record store today. It was number one on my list and they had it! This song was out before my time but I love a song that tells a complete story. Thank you!
Great song and still a favorite. I'm glad I. Lived in that time period to enjoy the feelings it reflected then and even today.
Heard this on the car radio today and was immediately 13 again.
Such an underrated song. LOVE it.
Always loved this song.... Don't know why it never became a hit...... Brings back such great memories...
they were from Boston and this was a number one hit in much of New England!!!!

RIP Bruce❤️🎶🎼🎵🎤🎧
Listened to Dick Summer on WMEX in Boston in the late 60's play this every night, along with Ultimate Spinach and Beacon Street Union ( Hey, Mayola), on my little radio. Boston radio was so good then!
Entered the US hot 100 on 8/23/1969 and it was criminal that it stalled at #80. This is so classic. With music like this it was great being 15 at the time.
Mom diddent properly nor aggressively promote this wonderful song...I was in the record business and was astonished how mom abandoned it!!
It was supposed to have typed in MGM not mom
Rest in peace, Bruce.
