- Happy Friday, Geeks! Today I'll be showing you how to repair a torn urethane Batman cowl with a few easy steps! This method will also give the cowl added strength!

Quite impressed how well that came out. But I loved the idea of the Impostor Joker Cowl, but rather than a custom collectable, I think a full Impostor cosplay would be amazing and yet another Batman costume in your collection.

Now he just needs to learn how to make the raccoon eyes disappear right before tearing the cowl.
If you ever do make a imposter joker cowl, you should cut it at the mouth and crudley stitch it back together to give it a heath ledger look.

After seeing the split when it was lifted a joker imposter cowl would have looked epic
Nice repair. Could you, theoretically, use the silkaflex to reinforce parts of the mask that would be prone to tearing, the the linings off the eyes and mouth opening?
Nice work! If you know where it is you can see it but BARELY. It seems like the best idea is to reinforce the corners before anything happens. You could use this same method on the inside as well.
That aside, has anyone ever tried making a silicone cowl?

Dave Munn was it the DOJ gauntlets with the removable fins ? Did it rip at the part where the fins go in ? I got gauntlets from him too and the ripped also
I've never gasped so hard when I saw the Flash ( custom collectable ) at the end. It's gonna look awesome!
i like the lycra idea for added backing i would do that to all the parts that take the extra beating to begin with to prevent that in the future honestly i may do that to my latex mask as well
I'm from Brazil and i love Chris job.
Should make it a standard upgrade on cowls to reinforce both sides with flextape... those sharp corners are always gonna be a failure point...
But good work!

if you ripped the cowl and repaired it enough it could be used for alternate batsuits. maybe batman had to repair his mask in some alternate earth!

chris have you seen that stuff called blue stuff,you can use it to make small molds 10 times quicker and cheaper than the standard resin and other ways and its reuseable,its made by greenstuff world

Just a funny thought, you'd probably never actually do it, but with your current hair and stubble you look strikingly similar to last Oliver Queen in last season's flashbacks, with the long messy hair and stubble XD Just a thought. Keep up the awesome work man, love your vids :)

Great job..How can you tell if you have a cowl is 100% rubber, latex rubber or urethane, etc... I have a 89 batman cowl I would like to repair.

Nice video and good job man! if i have that mask, i could wear it all day...to eat, to sleep, to get drunk (as now! haha)...oh jeez, oh man! so many things i could do....
After cleaning it with warm water, maybe also spray a coat of plastic dip over the whole cowl (kinda like a candy shell)
FUEGO City if you did that it would be hard to put on, you need it to flex if you will be using it. If it's just for display then plastidip is a good idea

I have a question. So I have a Dark Knight cowl that has a large tear in the back. However I got it 4 years ago and I cannot remember if it is urethane or latex, or if there is any difference. Will this method work regardless? Thanks.

Is there a way to repair the edges of a rubber or silicone that have become "rough"? The best way to describe what is looks like is a mouse nibbled on them.
Depending on where the damage is you can sand it CAREFULLY. Start with a fairly aggressive coarse glass paper like a 400 and eventually work up to a 1000 and feather in the rough edges as best as you can.
Just be aware the paper will clog up fairly fast on very soft materials!

I bought a Venom mask from Amazon, it came with a cut on the back, when I put it on every once in a while the cut got bigger, I'm going to try to fix it with these instructions even though I'm not very skilled but I need someone to write me down the products to be used, since I am not completely fluent in English and I live in Puerto Rico and that is where I should buy them.
