I mean they probably would’ve not been able to learn air bending then. So they couldn’t be as powerful, also maybe they planned on torturing the baby avatar so they could kill them when they are in the avatar state
Kyoshi's 230 when she died, Katara is still at less than 100, her great-grandchildren can take at most another 50 years given there's a time limit on how late a woman can get pregnant and safely have a baby, so... it's still quite unlikely Katara could live to be older than Kyoshi.
UltimateLordMonkey If you're willing to wait for Jinora to hit menopause, then at that point Meelo might be the one giving Katara her third great-grandchild. For men it's not nearly as bad to have children even in old age, so if Meelo lives to be Bumi's age or even older till he gets a child, Katara stands a chance.

I have a theory that could explain this. This is long and goes off in tangents but please keep reading, it connects. My theory is that benders tend to live longer than non benders. A lot of people think Sokka died somewhat premature but I think he just died of old age and that it was shortly before LOK. Which means he would have been in his eighties and that is a pretty normal age to die of old age especially as a male (women tend to live longer). If his death was premature, I feel like it would have been talked about more. But anyway, the rest of the gaang is alive and seems to be doing pretty well considering how old they are. They are not a big part of LOK because they choose not to be as said by Katara and Toph. Avatar Kyoshi lived to be 230 ish (I think. It's somewhere around there.) Bumi in ATLA was about 112 years old and he still fought like one of the greatest Earthbenders in the world. When Tenzin, Kya, and Bumi met Iroh in the spirit world it was mentioned that Tenzin knew Iroh before he died and was old enough to remember him. Iroh must have been pretty old if he met Tenzin. The only reason Roku wasn't unnaturally old when he died was because his death was not by old age. The reason why I think benders live longer is because of the lion turtles. Lion turtles gave humans the ability to bend and they are also immortal so I think that it's possible the lion turtles gave them just a teensy bit of immortality when they gave them bending making them live longer than than the average person. This relates to Katara because she is a waterbender and according to my theory lives longer than average and that is how she is alive to see her third great grandchild. Edit: I forgot to mention this. Aang only died that young because he was in the Avatar state for 100 years and that drained a lot of energy out of him. It drained his life source essentially
it seems like its common enough to live very long lives like Kyoshi lived to be 230 years old and Guru Pathik was 150 so it's believeable that Katara who is also the world's best healer to live a very long life she is only 89 at end of Legend of Korra.
I was hoping for an in-depth analysis on the health benefits of mango and papaya to figure out which one is actually better for breakfast, but this works too
which reminds of how maybe 2 or 3 of my great grandparents have lived long enough to meet their great grandkids and as far as I know I probably don't have anymore living great grandparents since one of them died 2 years ago and another one of them died in a possibly VERY painful and tragic way about 5 years ago so may they all rest in peace
Or, orrrrr. Bumi had secret love children when he was 18. Twins. The mother was a young earth kingdom purist who hates the United republic and accidentally bumped into a young rambunctious Bumi and had a spontaneous night of love. They spend a few romantic nights together without Bumi ever bringing up who his father is bc he’s ashamed of being a nonbender. A month in, she finds out she’s pregnant. She’s surprised, nervous, but excited bc it’s with Bumi, but then she discovers he’s the avatar’s son. She leaves Bumi without a trace and secretly gives birth to the twins. The older twin is an earth bender like his mom, and the younger is a nonbender like his father. Growing up, the earth bender was headstrong, didn’t back down from anyone, and also had a strong since of earthkingdom pride/avatar hatred. So much so he joins the red lotus. The younger twin is docile, loving, and perhaps also due to his non bending, avoids confrontation. The twins during LOK are about 40 and the nonbender now has 2 kids. The oldest kid is 20, earthbends like his uncle, and the younger kid is 18 and an air bender (at birth, not from convergence). That’s when they learn they’re related to Aang. Causes a whole thing. But anyways, now Katara can die a lot sooner than waiting for Jinora or icki to pop out some kids. Also, IDK why I got so specific with the Bumi thing, it could literally be any scenario with Bumi getting someone knocked up when he was a teenager and not knowing about it.
can we talk about poor (whatshername haha) being the perfect example of a forgotten middle child, there was legit a whole episode on that and now Antoine himself :’(
The show creators have said that an individual's chi affects their life span, hence why Kiyoshi lived to 230 years old. It's probably safe to assume this applies to lesser benders, since we see Bumi single handedly taking back Omashu at 112. While Katara and Toph are in their late 80s and Zuko in his early 90s at the end of LoK, all of them are still healthy and physically fit enough to engage in combat. So it seems reasonable that Katara will live for another 10 to 15 years, at least.
I think people ran off of faulty memory and didn't double check or somehow manage to forget the "great" part when speaking (My brother repeatedly fails to say the "great" part for example). Katara currently (Toph close second if she does spirit stuff) has the highest chance of meeting the next Avatar after Korra. Assuming Jinora has one and Ikki doesnt... then Meelo, or Rohan wait until adulthood or a little later (bordering or in their late 30s/40s when they decide to settle down and have kids) to produce Katara some great grandchildren. This will effectively mean Katara will be the King Bumi of her generation.

Technically, the grandchildren prediction wouldn't mean strictly after just the third grandchild. And probably not the third great grandchild. All that means is expect to die sometime after the the third one. For all we know she could make it to 7 or 8 before she kicks it
I have a theory that when her great grand children will be born but born very sick, so katara will like sacrifice her life for her great grand children

Who said she has no great grand childern, Boomy was a sailor wasn't he?
Also after third great grand child doesn't mean she won't see 5 8 10 great grandchildren, oddly enough those numbers all come after 3
Ginola has 14 years ar the end of the series and 11 when she firs met Kai
I WAS LITERALLY THINKING ABOUT THIS THIS MORNING
What if her “predictions” leads people to do stuff they wouldn’t have done if she didn’t refer it to them.
That's the great drama of oracles, honestly.
After doesn’t has to mean right after. She could either die one second after the great grandchildren is born or one thousand years after.
Technically, the grandchildren prediction wouldn't mean strictly after just the third grandchild. And probably not the third great grandchild. All that means is expect to die sometime after the the third one. For all we know she could make it to 7 or 8 before she kicks it
Imagine if Katara dies at the age of 112
I Heard grandchild then was confused then I heard great grandchild and I was like that’s some great continuity
I have a battle Suki vs Ty lee as them being Kyoshu warriors and them having a duel
It still amazes me how powerful azula was a 14 and how powerful toph was at 12
I didn't take it seriously because Katara was annoying her. I figured she was just telling her stuff so she would go away faster.
jeong jeong vs iroh vid?
Not enough concrete feats for Jeong Jeong.
@@AntoineBandele yea that makes sense, I wish we saw more of him. Cause he seemed to have a troubled past and i am curious to that full story.
Aunt Wu's prediction was right. It was right.
That’s crazy that Katara was 14 when her and Aang started dating and rn I’m LOK Jinora is 14 rn dating Kai
Jinorra was 11 when she got her arrows
Well that lead nowhere. In fact it went the opposite direction of the title
I have a theory that when her great grand children will be born but born very sick, so katara will like sacrifice her life for her great grand children
