    The year is 1907. It is 10 years after his disappearance from the Paris Opera House and the Phantom has escaped to a new life in New York where he lives amongst the screaming joy rides and freak-shows of Coney Island. In this new electrically-charged world, he has finally found a place for his music to soar. All that is missing is his love - Christine Daaé. Now one of the world’s finest sopranos, Christine is struggling in an ailing marriage to Raoul. So, it is with excitement she accepts an invitation to travel to New York and perform at a renowned opera house. In a final bid to win back her love, the Phantom lures Christine, her husband, and their young son Gustave from Manhattan; to the glittering and glorious world of Coney Island… not knowing what is in store for them…

    I don't get why they couldn't have taped the London production instead of the Aussie show.... Sierra is breathtaking and Ramin is stunning...

    I wish I could see Ramin and Sierra as the leads. The Australian version wasn't bad but after seeing the Phantom anniversary DVD, I want to see them in Love Never Dies.

    I'm sorry but I really think that they should've made a movie out of THIS version... and don't get me wrong I love the Australian one with Ben and Anna, but this one seems more... whole and fantastic. Anyways i love the show, it was great

    Even though I love the way the Australian production was, I would've loved to see how this and the special effects were in comparison because they both look magnificent in their own way. Happy to say that after kind of doubting it that it actually has taken a toll on me in a new way. Definitely not "Phantom" but something new and different. So worth seeing. :)

    i was lucky enough to see Sierra when she performed in the Las Vegas cast at the Venetian Hotel and I must say I am delighted that she has gained this much popularity!
    With that being said, the Australian version was the first version I heard and watched, so I am used to Ben and Anna's voices on the music. Even though I can understand Sierra better when she sings (which is great on "Look With Your Heart") ;-) Hope to see this on stage here soon!

    It's truly a wonderful show... the music is stunningly romantic and beautiful and I listen to it over and over again. Ramin and Sierra are perfect together, passionate and emotional, Joseph Millsom as Raoul is also superb as Raoul, while Liz Robertson and Summer are brilliant as Mme Giry and her daughter Meg. The cast is fantastic. I've seen LND eleven times now and I love it so much... it has a magic and enchantment that draws you back again and again.

    This is an amazing show. I saw it a couple of weeks ago and still can't get over it. The music is some of ALW's best. The projections during the Coney Island Waltz really set the location for the story. Personally I can't see the problem some people have with the story. For me it answers the questions which were left in the original Phantom. If I get the opportunity I will defiantly go and see it again. Nice to see some more footage of it.

    I saw this a few days ago and it was AMAZING!!! I waited at the atage door and met sierra (who's my heroine) and Ramin and they were the sweetest and kindest and most good looking people I've ever seen. It was brilliant!!! I fell madly in love with it and I want to see it again before it goes to Broadway in Spring 2011.

    Andrew Lolyd webber said it wasnt supposed to be exactly like the POTO because then he's just kinda making it over again!!! when i saw it i cried soo much!!! it was amazing, there is way more effects, and the humour is less dark than the POTO, you also see different sides to many characters and you would normally think that they dont fit with the first one, but when you really think about it you can really understand their characters. GO ANDREW!!!! :D

    People hate the idea of having a sequel to the classic, and basically the best play of all time. But really the music is beautiful and different. The plot is very bizarre, but it is what it is. People need to stop complaining about it and actually give it a chance before they judge it. Truly it's amazing!!!

    What saddens me is that as and when it returns to London (because it will), we will be using the revised Australian version :( don't get me wrong, the OZ version is brilliant in its own right, but they diluted it a fair bit (personal opinion) and is just not the same. It does, however, build a better picture of the characters than the London version - the staging is also second to none. All I'm saying is it will be a shame never to see THIS version again.

    Even though I haven't seen it yet, I read about the ending and it made me soo sad. Then I listened to the last song and cried. If I am going to go to NYC (if it ever comes to Bway), then the ending better be changed to where Christine doesn't die and it's a happy ending! I'm so glad I listened to the soundtrack! I can see why some people don't like it. Except for the ending, it has some of the best music!

    @AndrewScheve Oh, i don't want to spoil it for others, but all the scenes were fabulous. The actors are top class, and the sets... well i've never seen anything like it. Just look at the promo vids, and photos. But in my mind, Sierra just ruled on the stage. I can just say, that after the final scene there was a very loooong ovation. And you could actually see that she was very emotional as well. Amazing experience.

  • @Kingiwingi8713
    @Kingiwingi8713 13 лет назад +1

    @RaindropsAndRooftops Isn't that the point of the story though?
    The Phantom is pining&yearning for Christine so badly that his passion & love for life &music starts to fade so without his muse, has lost his genius, gets 'writers block' & can only write cheap Vaudeville music.
    Then once he knows Christine is coming back, he gets inspired again, and writes 'Love Never Dies', this incredible and earth shattering aria, that ignites both their mutual love for musicla and also each other?

    I think the music's pretty, the cast is excellent, the story is great, and I love that Christine finally ends up with the phantom... I also think it unlikely that Andrew Lloyd Webber is trying to cash in on anything because he's as rich as hell already and could buy and sell all your asses a million times. Why do you feel the need to deride it? I love Phantom of the Opera the book and the movie, I can sing all the songs by heart but I was able to look at LND with an open mind and I like it too

    This was totally amazing...just wish I'd been in the stalls, as I was for Phantom, as opposed to the Dress Circle; you definitely feel more 'connected' down there..but the visuals were certainly stunning from DC. There were murmurs at the ending...Phantom Three please (somehow!) :) x

  • @MrsRemyLebeau
    @MrsRemyLebeau 13 лет назад

    @barnabyfox Actually, Phantom was first popularized with the 1925 silent film starring Lon Chaney and Mary Philbin. Since then, there have been multiple film adaptations and stage versions. The Lloyd Webber version is just one of the more popular versions. But he got the idea for writing Phantom because then girlfriend Sarah Brightman had recently auditioned for another stage production.
    But I agree with you that the book only gets recognition in hindsight.

    I don't know how the ending to this sequel will go but maybe this can be a trilogy? i personally think this can end on a good note if maybe the phantom falls in love with a new singer who he falls in love with but the singer is blind and the conflict would be the phantom still needs to fill that void of being wanted, needed, loves from within not based on outer beauty. Remember that the phantom wasnt first excepted because of his physically flaws.
