I love this song and your video made it even more enjoyable. Watching it the second time I noticed I had missed the first few seconds (where he falls asleep) the first time. I think the story works even better when it comes as a surprise that it's a dream (as it did to me). I suggest you skip the introduction and go straight to the B&W story. Anyway this is so good I wish ELO would make it the official video of their best song.
My husband plays this song every time we have a date. He knows it is one of my favorite songs. I dance to the music while we are driving. I LOVE ELO music!
I mean, just take all my praise. ALL OF IT. This is a work of art. I do share the opinion of the pinned comment though, that it would work a little better if it wasn't a dream.
So innovative yet simple but complex so uplifting and fun what a band ELO were. Legendary can only describe them. I don’t see bands with such unique imaginations around today with so many classic anthems. Well it was Jeff Lynne certainly an unusual talent that only comes around once in a lifetime.
ELO's heyday came during my high-school years. I remember buying the Discovery (disco very) album in '79 and discovering this song. I always looked forward to new ELO music.
Everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of fear. Great video. You perfectly captured the meaning of this song, that we are in fact masters of our own destiny and we must take charge, in fact amplified it and brought it to life. Nice work!
Great! I loved the leit motif of Horace carrying his wife much like his bike, which goes to show even though he is a married man, he is still the same airhead as always!
Thank you 🙏 so much for this upload of one of my eternal favourite songs. Thank you 🙏 also for this wonderful lovely video. Well done! She's so lovely. As a non-native English speaker growing up, I always wondered what this chorus line meant: "While he just stood there mumblin', a-fumblin'" It really took several years for someone to explain it to me. Since then, "mumblin', a-fumblin'" has been one of my favourite English expressions and I use it even when it makes no sense at all. Before I forget, a fun fact from this song. Why is it missing the Saturday from the list of days of the week at the end and in this song? "... Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday ...." Jeff Lynne was once asked about this. His answer was quite simple: "Saturday? Saturday is Premier League!" With this short and concise statement, he left the interviewer at the time absolutely completely speechless. A hearty "Servus" from Jeff's not so secret favourite city here in Bavaria.
My names Peter but when I was growing up my dad nicknamed me Horace I'd never thought ELO would come along and do a song that I'ved just listen in a very long time since I've heard this song.
I went to school with a kid called Horris, his full name was Horris Fru Herbert, he got bullied alot, not surprised with a name like that, poor bastard
this is so good man, im planning on making a similar video, i have the script all written out and everything. im glad i found yours now. i can take some notes from it!

Horace Wimp in this video reminds me of a young Frank Burns from MASH.😂
