It was Jeff Lynne’s vision to further explore the Beatles classical period. He loved their use of orchestras and classical motifs in their compositions. On the way Mr. Lynne added mightily to great music of the Twentieth Century.

Not being a huge ELO fan I assumed it was simply Jeff Lynne and a buncha backing musicians(at least that the way I perceived HE wanted it to be). Seeing this I can see that like Tull from 68-80,this was a BAND,a GREAT BAND.

10538 Overture is a fantastic song! This song was written by Jeff Lynne. The song is about an escaped prisoner. Lynne wanted to give the character in the song a number, as opposed to a name, and he chanced upon the number 1053 while looking at the mixing console. Wood suggested adding an "8" to fit the melody better.

In this video, Kelly seems to studder trying to get the words out but in the end comes off ok. If you ever see JL speaking on TV it was usually a painful sight. I'm sure everyone loves Out Of The Blue, like me, but I feel ELO became a force of nature with On The Third Day, Eldorado, Face The Music and A New World Record. Don't get me wrong I love the music before and after these albums but I always felt these 4 albums were intertwined in a special way. This clip is wonderful and the sound is epic. Thanks.

The great Jeff Lynne is still with US and will do a major US and European Tour in 2018... Let's enjoy his greatness while he is still alive....Jeff Lynne is the most talented Music God ever. He will be 71 in 2018 and his voice is Gold. All his live concerts sound as good if not better than the original recordings...Not many bands and musicians can match that. Just have a listen from Jeff Lynne's ELO at Wembley Stadium June 24 2017... Can't wait to see Jeff Lynne's ELO on the 2018 Europe and North American

Jeff Lynne's ELO World Tour 2018. U called it right. Saw them in New York, almost 2 weeks ago. Just an outstanding night of music to my ears.

I ran across this thread a year after you posted it. I literally just saw ELO/Lynne less than a week ago in Philadelphia 2019. I must say, wow, unbelievable performance it was!
