Something I did end up overlooking was that "ring" around summer in the picture, it could definitely be the condensation from a drink he used to cover up her image so he didn't have to look at her. I didn't think about that when making the video, sorry
I would add one more thing to the discussion. During the tyrian fight both Ruby and Qrow's auras flare in response to taking damage. They both share the same colour of red auras but Qrows aura flares with two colours. Red like Ruby's and another that is wave of black as it recovers.
You took the words right outta my mouth. i noticed how the "ring" appeared to be from a glass sitting on the shot. I've often thought that Summer went to Tai when she was already pregnant from Qrow, of course, at Qrow's suggestion/request. I dunno, it just looks suspicious is all I'm saying. :) Great video, thanks.
EruptionFang qrow is the dad why would he follow Ruby around and not yang who is the daughter of his teammates and sister while Ruby is just the daughter of his teammates
@Eden Brown If the tweet came out in 2014, it was probably before it was explained in the show who Summer was. Was it still kind of a dumb theory? Yes. But what they were asking was if Yang was in some capacity "Summer Rose," not if Yang was Ruby's mom.
If Qrow was REALLY Ruby’s father than Ruby and Yang would be related becouse... Yang’s mom is Raven and Raven is Qrow’s sister so Yang and Ruby would be cousins Yaay
Mclaren Leon Qrow is not Ruby’s father. That has already been debunked long ago, don’t know why that theory’s still around. Tai had Yang with Raven and after Raven left, he remarried with Summer and had Ruby. So yes, they are half sisters.
He's a nice guy. So of course he had Summer fall for him. Also, about what happened with Tai and Raven, Raven left him because she thought he was weak or something along those lines.
@@summerrose8110 If I recall she chose her tribe over her family safety (due to Salem being immortal n'all), she still does care for them but she prioritize her tribe above her own family
One other thing I've noticed that nobody ever seems to point out, is that Qrow and Ruby are WAY closer than Qrow and Yang are. In fact, I've never seen Qrow pay any attention to Yang at all except for that one time they played video games together for about 5 minutes.
exactly!! it always caught my attention that while Yang is his actual niece, the daughter of his sister, it's Ruby the one he trained and is closer to, and i'm not saying it's impossible to be close to someone you're not related to, but it always seemed really odd to me how much of a non relationship he had with his niece in comparison, but this theory actually would explain everything, so i really like it
Yeah. Yang is literally his niece and ruby isn’t, but he spends more time with ruby. Like I’ve honestly never in the show seen them hang out alone, it was only when ruby was there. Guess we know who his favorite is...
My theory is that he actually cares about Yang more. Because of his semblance, he would try to stay away from the people who he really cares about. So he cares about Yang more
Not sure, but I seem to remember hearing/reading somewhere that Qrow only started drinking after Summer's death. More than a little likely that he puts the glass over her to try and forget her while drinking. They were teammates - and if they were anything like team RWBY (which we know they were at least superficially) that means they were close. The glass stain may also explain the stains. Could be tears, but it could also be stains from the drink. Qrow drinking over the photo doesn't really count towards or against the theory, unfortunately.
Just because Qrow was there doesn't mean anything. I mean, Qrow is a roll model and arguably parental figure in the minds of Yang and Ruby. And to be honest, he might as well be their legal guardian, at which point him being their makes sense because legal guardians can come in the place if actual parents.
@@wtfdidijustwatch1017 I'm not being toxic, I'm stating my opinion and stating facts that back it up. Even the line from Bad Luck Charm isn't solid proof as Qrow told Team RNJR he got his name from his tribe due to his semblance being Misfortune, and the superstition that Crows are bad luck.
@@bonniefazman9065 In RWBY Chibi he's basically a less competent version of Jaune, in the actual show Tai kinda sounds like an ex fratboy and he was implied to be a great fighter since he personally trained Yang before Beacon and she was still able to learn from him afterwards. Honestly I still don't know what to make of Tai, maybe he was a party animal back in the day but changed after becoming a parent.
@@kana22693 That may be true, but there is strong implications that Ruby and Qrow have a bond stronger than just a niece/uncle relationship. The way he talks to her, gives her pet names, more often brings up Ruby's mother, how he's fighting hard to keep her safe, and so on. Tai hardly ever aids Ruby in that regard, true he loves her and wants her safe but the effort seems much more given to Yang than Ruby. I know Yang needed it more than Ruby, but you would think Tai even as an adoptive/proxy father would at least try to contact her. Qrow is risking everything for both Ozpin's mission and especially Ruby before as well after he lost faith in Ozpin. Plus, why would he both to forge a very strong bond with his niece he simply trained? I have caring uncles myself and can tell you their relationship in much deeper than most standards.
Edward Armstrong Speaking as someone who’s only read fanfics, I’m so confused on what Raven saw in Tai. She’s all about survival of the fittest, and I seriously doubt Tai was one of the strongest trainees back then. Maybe this is a Roger Rabbit case where Raven hooked up with Tai because he makes her laugh.
Another thing I noticed, idk if this would count or not but Qrow calls Yang, "Yang". But when he is referring to Ruby he gives her the nickname "Kiddo". Why doesn't Yang have a nickname like that? Its just something I find interesting.
One thing that needs to be added from Volume 7 is when Qrow talks about summer after ruby gets her license. The way he says "summer" has so much emotion. Also he flat out says that she was "a bit of a brat though he always liked a brat". Additionally, the end fight of season 6 there are so many moments where Qrow and Ruby have little moments that seem more than just an uncle and niece. He worries about her most, protects her (literally catches her). The moment where he tries to stop her and she turns and looks at him. He looks shocked. My theory on that moment was he realised two things; 1) ruby is not a child anymore. She if brave, strong and determined. 2) I think in that moment she must have looked A LOT like summer and he saw her in Ruby. I do honestly support the theory because so much doesn't line up with Yang's dad being Ruby's. I think if does get revealed. Ruby would be hurt that it was hidden but her and yang are so close that it wouldn't change how they feel. They'd still be related, even if it's just as cousin's.
Reasons I’m convinced that Qrow is Ruby’s father. 1. She bears a far greater resemblance to Qrow then she does do to Tai. 2. They have similar fashion sense. And personality’s. 3. I categorically fucking refuse to believe that Taiyang is that lucky.
Or maybe Qrow had a thing for Summer but Tai ended up with her, that would explain why they seem to not like each other and why Qrow cares so much for Ruby (because she is the daughter of the woman he loved)
I've always thought tai liked crow but knows the danger of having him around so he tries to serve as a buffer (probably because his bad luck killed summer)
I think that is obvious, the fact that Qrow isn't a good influence by Tai's eyes doesn't change the possibility that Qrow had a thing for Summer, it just feeds more the not-friendly mood between both
Summer's death *did* effect Qrow, very much so. Even if he isn't Ruby's father, he did care about Summer. The half circle stain around Summer is a cup stain. And since we know that Qrow drinks quite often, his emotions probably bubbled out of his control and he ended up placing the cup over her to cover her up and cry at the same time.
thank you for pointing out the circle as a cup stain, I was about to point it out that yes him placing the cup over specifically her, the only ones who's died and not the person he has actual qualms with, is significant for its show of strong emotion behind the action.
I personally think Monty's tweet(Ruby and Yang being half-sisters) was a misdirect. I don't think he wanted anyone to end up spoiling themselves well before the actual twist happens, so he tried to water down the fire and then reignite it when the time came. If you think about it, all he really did was say what the community "knew" of their relationship. And with other well said points other commenters have mentioned, a child in RWBY shares many characteristics of their parents. Ruby has nothing in common with Tai. When you look at Yang, on the other hand, she has a mix of her parent's eye colors, resulting in purple. She also has her father's hair color and combat style. Ruby, on the other hand, shares many more characteristics with Qrow than anyone else on the show. Their combat style is the most obvious one(Father's teaching their daughters). And then you have their taste in clothing. As time as went on, Ruby is starting to look more and more like Qrow season after season.
You might have a point about Monty's tweet if it weren't for the fact that tweet was made before Volume 2 even started. Qrow didn't even show up in person outside being mentioned a couple times until Volume 3, so it would be a bit odd to misdirect for a character most people knew nothing about other than that he trained Ruby how to use a scythe. Ruby's clothing and weapon use are easily explained by her having a hero worship thing around Qrow. He did save her from death at least once when she was a child, and his stories, travels, and secret missions would be incredibly appealing to her. Qrow was the ideal huntsman in her eyes, so she modeled herself after him. That's how I have always seen it anyways.
@@saberfan Weiss and her entire family has white hair, Ren has his pink streak since he was a kid, etc, so why would Ruby's red gradient be any different?
Qrow: "Your noodles are over cooked anyway!" Tai: *Gasp!* How dare youuuuuuuuu..... Real couple right there. (For those who don't get it, it's a joke. Chibi Version.)
Summer definitely didn't die at childbirth or like soon after. Yang notes that she was "like Super Mom". Yang must have been at least probably a few years old like 5 to remember her but so Ruby is too young to really remember her.
This might already be common or a theory but I think Crows bad luck killed Rose. During battle or something Rose and Crow was fighting hand and hand. Then something happened and Rose was killed. His photo has tear marks because he blames himself for the death of his teammate. Now he teaches Ruby because she remind him of her and doesn’t want the same thing to happen to her but also finish what her mother became, a amazing huntress. This is putting aside the theory of Crow being Ruby dad.
girl otaku You see that's the fucked up thing about crows semblance even if something bad happens and it has nothing to do with his semblance he might feel like it's his fault just because hes around. This forces him to have a sense of nihilism and it's actually really sad he probly blames himself for every single little bad thing that happens around him.
But they are also very possibly drink spills because they also show up inside the condensation ring and the ones in side it look the same as the ones outside it so whatever made the mark was a similar substance
This is a really valid point, but I don't think his semblance killed her in battle. I think that it was the fact he impregnated her that inevitably led to her death. Does anyone know if Summer died in childbirth? Because that would make more sense to me and it would give Qrow far more guilt over potentially causing his daughter to carry the same bad luck.
Summer.. her name was Summer.. and she went on that mission Solo.. and it's not stated she died, just said she never returned. that said it is safe to assume she is dead
The "circle" over Summer seems to be a cup stain (like you know when a drink spills so there's now a circle of the drink at the base of the cup). It would make sense considering how much he drinks.
Do I want this Theory to be true? Yes and no. No because it seems so cliche in a way that it might seem cheesy when executed. HOWEVER, it's not out of left field and could make for an amazing storyline if done right and with RT's track record, I think they could make it work. Plus people hardly think that far ahead when making a franchise much like George Lucas with Star Wars. What I want more than anything is to have a Volume dedicated solely to Team STRQ like what RvB did with the freelancers. It would be an epic way to add/break tension in the main story since we finally got an ending that felt like a win for the heros. Maybe then we'll get our answers to some of these theories and have a totally flipped view of the characters. I can already see a scene of Qrow crying on the picture and setting a glass over Summer to try hold back the pain.
Jay Harv28 Then there is a high possibility that Qrow was on the mission with her. That would cause him to blame himself more, either his bad luck or the failure to save her when he was meant to have her back.
he's just trying to make an argument for it like he said at the end. It's kinda arrogant to dismiss a theory without first looking at it with an open-mind. I really like that he did this though. just goes to show people can debate properly still and not just, "NO, YOU'RE WRONG! WHY, JUST BECAUSE, THAT"S WHY!!"
It does take a lot of levelheadedness and analytical skill to take a theory you personally don’t believe in and explain it and make a good argument for it. It also helps you understand the point of view of those that do believe it better. Overall, it just shows that this guy is one of the people on the Internet who can actually be civil when discussing this type of topics and it’s a good example of how to react to different points of view. Well done.
I mean, a part of me wants this to be false, because just thinking of all the heartache Qrow would've endured is gut-wrenching, and the universe just can't give this poor man a break. But honestly, this would make for an extremely interesting development in the story. Between the picture and his chat with Ruby among other things, it's believable enough to make me sob.
But get this, right? The reason he never gets a break is because that's his super power. He has bad luck, and radiates it. Anyone around him also experiences supernatural bad luck. He'll never get a break.
It might not even really be that she consciously tried to get with Tai. There is always the possibility that she was the only person around to comfort Tai after Raven left, then one thing leads to another and they get together, not because they had truly been in love but there is a thing called the rebound. Their relationship could have been based on building each other up after bad relationships. For Tai that was Raven obviously, but if Summer also was in a bad relationship it might have been Qrow. Whether or not it was intentional Qrow may have been a less than stellar romantic partner(his Semblance could have been the reason) which eventually lead to Summer breaking up with him. This would explain Summer and Tai getting together as well as Qrow still loving Summer which is why he trained Ruby and why there is the damage to the photo.
Ryoki Uzumasa i don’t think it’s like that. I mean if you see someone you love suffer you want to be there for them and such. And I’m sure she did that and without intending to, Ty started to see her in a different light and when the time was right things just clicked mate. It’s not impossible
To everyone who comes to threads like this only to comment "but Monty said they're half-sisters": -Let people have their fun -Qrow and Raven are twins, so if Ruby were Qrows daughter, she and Yang would still share half the same genetic makeup through the Branwen side, making them, genetically, half sisters -Let people have their fun
Yeah Monty said that but RWBY is extremely popular with consistent RETCONS. He also said the main theme between the 4 girls is "sisterhood" yet we know two of them are basically scissoring and only fight exclusively by each others side. Ruby and Weiss are usually on their own and face most of their problems themselves and have BARELY interacted with Blake. Worst form of sisterhood I've ever heard lol.
Of course, as a writer, you don't want to admit people are right, especially that early on the story. And despite the change in direction since his passing, we've seen that Ruby relates more to Qrow than Tai. I'm still surprised Tai DIDN'T go with Yang when she left to look for Ruby.
Correction, Raven and Qrow are *fraternal* twins. You can't have opposite sex identical twins for obvious reasons, which means that genetically speaking them being born at the same time is irrelevant. They're no more genetically similar than normal siblings are.
If Qrow is/was Ruby's father Yang and Ruby would still be sisters, just not by blood. Family isn't always defined by blood and thats a strong theme throughout Ruby, especially in Volume 4 when the members of team RWBY begin to reunite. Weiss actually says that Yang, Ruby and Blake are more like family to her than her brother and father. So it would make sense that they would enforce the Ruby and Yang as sisters thing even of they were only cousins by blood.
First cousins from a pair of twins can be considered half-siblings genetically. Qrow and Raven are twins so, if the theory is correct, Ruby and Yang can still be considered half sisters with no contraddiction. Rejoice.
Summer is not "Circled" That's a coffe mug stain. Imagine Qrow sitting down in a chair, this picture infront of him. He places a mug on Summer since the pain of losing her is too much and starts crying his eyes out. The tears would land to the right of Summer, and where they are? Exacly there.
This has been my understanding since I finished V3, and bad luck charm was referring to Summer, who Qrow loved, but never got with, because he was afraid. Now we know that he and Raven worked for Ozpin after school and until Raven left them all while yang was an infant. Qrow left to try to find her, and two lonely people were left together broken hearted and taking care of a baby who are already close will fall together (more of my experience on this one...) and accidental pregnancies that people just roll with do happen. When Qrow returned he was torn on how he felt for them. And here begins the meat of the theory. Raven shared some things with Tai that made him want to distance himself from Ozpin, but still support him. Raven implied that they were all brought in on Ozpins secrets, sowhy is Tai no longer in the Ozluminati? Not just because of Summer, because Ruby's comment in the beginning of V3 talked about 'he misses adventuring with you ' Implying that They were partners in the field. So how did Salem eliminate the SEW, that Hazel implied that he killed, unless she was alone? This is pure speculation but perhaps Summer was sent to resupply Qrow, and that's when they struck. Tai was alone with the girls because Qrow wasn't available to babysit, as he likely often would. Qrow arrived too late to save her, and so both blame themselves. Tai also blames Qrow and Ozpin for losing Summer too. At this point he steps away from the inner circle and takes a post at Signal (which I also feel is where Ozpin has hidden the Relic of Choice) to still support the cause. Tai did not train ruby because he didn't want her to be another pawn in Oz' war; but he also knew her romanticized version of being a Huntress was dangerous. This is where the friction comes from at the end of V3. This analysis takes nearly every piece of evidence for either side of the argument and weaves it together into a coherent and feasible story (and in my opinion a very good one). TL;DR Qrow is best Uncle, everyone loved Summer and Tai hoped Ruby never went down this road. But she did...
At the end of volume four, I was half expecting Qrow to wake up and in his half delirious state mistake Ruby for Summer and end up saying something about her.
When he's unconscious in vol 4 ch 9 at about 11:30 when they are carrying Qrow he's mumbles "Tai she's.. not.. coming.., Tai!" I bet he was dreaming about Summer, it had to be Summer or Raven he was talking about at least.
It's one of those lines where you know it *has* to be significant, but it's ambiguous enough that you don't know just *how* it's significant. Qrow could have been talking about Raven, meaning that she had left Tai for good. Or he could have been talking about Summer, meaning that she was dead, which in turn leads to a number of possibilities for how Qrow might have known that, including that he may have been present when she died. So many possibilities, each of them potentially important in a different way, but we just can't know which it is until we get some more information later (which I think we eventually will).
*When Taiyang and Raven were together (maybe not married) and had Yang, she up and left leaving Taiyang with a baby. So since Summer Rose and him were teammates, she might have helped Ty out with Yang playing that motherly role, which then led to them getting close thous having Ruby.* _05.08.19_
I was thinking the same. bc it's not like they separate. Raven was the one who left Ty with baby Yang. and I agree to the theory saying that Ty and summer maybe didn't have the type romantic but they had a relationship. She helped him w/ yang in the motherly role for a couple of years and, some things came across and, appeared Ruby
The knife in that coffin is that because of the character design and the way people talk about her. Even with her similarities to Ruby. Summer doesn't look like the type of person to just swoop in on someone and open her legs in less than a year. For me at least, I perceive her to be a gentle kind woman. And for her to even consider saying yes to that you have to fucking work for her love, affection, and trust. Probably treats it like an act of passion to not be thrown around so... TLDR too smol to get smashed that quick.
@@demonitizeddemonz5977 I definitely agree with your perception on Summer. From what we've been given, I can also assume she was a gentle and kind woman who wouldn't just sleep around with others. Although, her relationship with Tai wouldn't just be a fling; the two were teammates, and likely really close friends who had trained, grown and fought together over many years. If Raven had just recently left Tai, he would likely be grieving for her loss, and with Qrow backing off due to worry that his Semblance would make things worse, Summer took it upon herself to be there for Tai. They likely would have grown even closer, eventually leading to a single moment of passion that could have resulted in Ruby. Then, after realizing what happened, Summer would have stuck around, being the 'Supermom' that Yang talked about in Volume 2, up until her death. Again, I'm not implying that either of them were sleeping around; I always envisioned Ruby's conception as two close friends giving into each other during a moment of intense grief: aka, when Raven, a person they trusted and believed was their friend, abandoned them for killers and thieves. Being smooth has nothing to do with that type of hook up.
I really want that theory to be true but I believe that Qrow loved Summer however she ended up with Tai, when she died he decided to watch over Ruby because Ruby is the child of the woman he loved.
That would make more sense honestly. Qrow seems too reckless and too much of a loner to actually be with someone in that way. He's a fighter rather than a lover, as evidenced by his many connections to less than respectable huntsmen. Though while I doubt that Taiyang IS that smooth, given Raven's attitude, it may have been a case of a love triangle forming and Raven making the decision for Taiyang and removing herself after Yang was born.
The weird thing is we never see Ruby and Tai interacting. It's honestly kind of odd the way Ruby grew up with two people who focus on hand to hand combat but has so little skill with it herself. I think it is possible that Qrow left Summer after she realized she was pregnant and Tai and Summer decided to raise their children together, first as friends and then eventually as lovers. That could explain how the girls' births are so close together
Think about it, it would make sense if he is her father, he has the misfortune thing so he was not able to care for her and be there without misfortune falling upon her so of course he did what he thought was best which was to leave her with his closest friend/former team mate!

@@eren34558 I was only answering the question on *what would Qrow be....* I wasn't saying anything else, I also didn't want an explanation. Not to be rude, but, I certainly don't like to hear certain things about theories that others have made.
I may be dumb, but wouldn’t genetics still make them half-sisters? I mean, one child has Qrow as the parent, one has Raven. Both have half of the bloodline, both halves being the Branwen line. So they each have their own half of the bloodline, meaning they’re connected through that bloodline. Again, I may just be dumb, and not know how genetics work.
@@ReturnOfMonke theyd be cousins. Raven ruby's aunt, Crow Yangs uncle. If Crow and Raven had children together, the children you be cousins and siblings. Welcome to a lesson in Alabamas family tree.
I'd like to compare this to another show called Steven Universe (so spoilers ahead in that show),even at the start of the series people theorized that Rose Quartz was Pink Diamond, to which one of the crewniverse replied on twitter that Rose Quartz is just Rose Quartz and surprise surprise turns out Rose Quartz was actually Pink Diamond, so *maybe* Monty lied so that people would stop looking into this twist to make it even more of a twist when they reveal it
It could also have been that at the moment as far as we know, Yang and Ruby are half sisters. Monty didnt want to spoil anything, so he just stated what we knew (and still know) at that moment.
The thing is, supporters of this theory act like it would make him a tragic hero when all it does is make him a deadbeat dad. Semblances can be inherited. We only have record of that being the case for the Schnee family, but you never know with how many inconsistencies there are. Qrow could have passed his semblance on to Ruby if he was her father meaning he could have left Ruby to ruin the lives of everyone around her. Ruby would be causing so much trouble and if they explained just what was going on, she'd blame herself despite it not really being something she could control and Qrow would be off doing missions most of the time, not being around for the guidance she would need regarding that.
Who knows RWBY could pull a Jon Snow and reveal a plot twist that Ruby and Yang are cousins instead of half-siblings this theory makes sense to me bc the writers of GOT have pulled the same thing before
@@giacomorinaldi8803 They are only half siblings genetically if the twins were identical and well qrow and raven are not identical unless your saying qrow has gone through some major surgeries to change his appearance.
From a story perspective, I think that Qrow being Ruby’s father would help with that story aspect you said Ruby was missing. Personally, as an addict to well written emotional trauma, I would love to see this happen. It just feels like the right direction.
Sore Wa Chigau Zo they would still be blood related as they would be cousins and some people are very close to their cousins an will act like siblings. If this did come true it would be a real push on ruby much need development and even Yangs and then two growing even closer not letting that stop them being family and even if not sisters but blood but they will be sisters by heart.
When Summer died, Ruby was so young that she could barely voice out any words from her mouth yet. Tai was always busy with teaching at schools, and Yang was basically the one who “picked up the pieces”. Qrow could be a godfather to Ruby if anything, because he saved her and Yang numerous times.
Personally I'm on the side of no, Qrow is not her father, but he is her father FIGURE. That much is kinda obvious with the aforementioned ties the two sure as student and teacher/neice and uncle, but when I look at all the "hints", I just see a plausible theory, but not one I'd take weight in. Tai was a broken man after Raven left, I'm sure anyone can understand that and sometimes when you are emotional wounded, you need the support of others to help you pull through and that's where I see Summer's role came in, Tai's support while Qrow may have willingly taken a step back to avoid reminding Tai of the person he just lost. In that support, Tai and Summer could have easily comforted each other and with their past, built a quick yet stable romance and perhaps in that quick recovery came the sudden pregnancy of Ruby or the two simply wanted a child together. I do think however Qrow loved Summer and while he was also backing off from Tai for the reason I said before, he may have also backed off because of his feelings for Summer, feelings not shared once Tai & Summer became a thing. Once Summer died, that loss hit him just as much as it did Tai, yet a part of Summer lived on through Ruby, so even with his bad luck, he wanted to be there for Ruby, to help her live strong and happy while still keeping away a little for his curse and work with Ozpin. In short, Qrow for me is just her mentor/uncle, but there's deeper ties of lost love, comfort and pain that keeps Qrow close to Ruby while Tai is still her father.
Out of curiosity, if this theory were to be proven true by the show and become canon, that Qrow is Ruby's father, how would you feel about it? If it is true, it wouldn't necessarily break the series or open up any plot holes, but I imagine it could offer a greater deal of depth and a harsh truth to Ruby's character. Quite possibly breaking her of the innocent mindset she has maintained these years and force her to mature rapidly.
Dunne N' dusted Why would it break her of her innocence though? Even if it were true she would still love Qrow and Tai. For this theory to work there would have to be a really good reason as to why they aren't telling Ruby Qrow is her father (and I don't accept his bad luck semblance as an answer since he spent enough time with her to teach her how to use a scythe) and Ruby would probably be able to understand the reason. I personally don't see what would change in terms of relationships since I think Ruby would still love her family just as dearly.
Pretty much that. Ruby for Qrow is probably "the daughter he never had", and that makes sense since he tought her how to fight and use a scythe. It also makes sense that Qrow tried to be a father to Ruby, assuming Tai was most likely very heartbroken by Raven abandoning him and Summer dying.
Fucking THANK YOU. The people who keep bringing this dumb theory up seem to completely miss that you don't HAVE to have a blood tie to someone to see them as a father figure, and that you can be distant with your parents. Tai was messed up by Raven leaving, Summer tried to comfort him, and things got out of hand, thus, Ruby. After that, Qrow leaves, not wanting to give bad luck. Summer gets killed, Tai is emotionally wrecked, and Ruby gravitates to Qrow while he was teaching her as a (semi) positive role model.
Now that we know more info on Summer and Qrow, we have more support on this theory. Qrows drinking because of Summer' The image of team STRQ shows Qrow was taking it worse than Tai himself. Qrow's semblance caused him to stay away from Summer and Ruby because Ruby was just a kid. They debunked the theory but look at Steven Universe and Rose Quartz! They said Penny was dead and she really wasn't. Qrow is watching over Ruby and Tai never shared any real connection with Ruby. Volume 4 was spent with family/ fathers like, Weiss with Jacques, Blake with Cali and Ghira, Yang and Tai, but then Ruby and Qrow (But thats a small detail) Ruby and Qrow have similar personalities and similar character designs. Yes Qrow taught Ruby at signal BUT that doesn't mean that they have similar personalities. Beacon is like college, Yang, Blake, and Weiss all got into Beacon at around the age 17 while Ruby was 15 when she went to Beacon. Ruby went to some sort of elementary school before Signal, Signal is highschool because you usually start Highschool at the age 13 or 14. You're personality might shape you from the teacher you had in elementary school because you're young- , but in highschool, you're your own person. If you had a teacher you like, you don't take up their whole personality. So heres what I think what happened if this theory was true... Summer and Qrow got together and Tai and Raven got together. Tai and Rae had Yang but shortly after, Raven left Tai. Tai was devastated and was left with Yang alone. After about a year, Summer had Ruby, and like Raven, Qrow was scared. Even worse, he had his semblance. He knew Ruby could get hurt so he decided to be alone. He took up Ozpin's missions stayed away for as long as possible. Summer took up Oz's missions too, but not as much as Qrow because she had to take care of Ruby. After a few years, Yang thought Summer was her mom. Summer and Tai raised Ruby and Yang since both Raven and Qrow left. Qrow always kept a close eye on Ruby and Yang whenever he wasn't on missions. One day Qrow and Summer went on a mission for Ozpin, during this mission summer died due to Qrow's semblance. Qrow almost died but Raven saved him just in time. Qrow blamed her death on himself and told Tai. Tai got mad at Qrow and Raven was as well. Raven returned to the tribe, Tai was lost in grief, and Qrow kept going on missions for Oz. Qrow started drinking and hated himself. He still kept a close eye on Ruby because it was the only thing left from Summer. I'm not saying this is what happened, im saying its my opinion on what happened. No hate plz :3
honestly, i like this theory. they act so alike for a two that would be niece and uncle. like their personality’s are nearly the same. some may argue she gets it from summer, but what does she get from tai? we only see that she is pretty much alike to qrow.
I second! I mean, all the signs are there and especially after seeing level of interactions between all the "parents" and children, it's almost ridiculous for Ruby Rose not to be Qrow's daughter.
Tai seems like sensitive guy, so when Raven left him by himself with a baby, Summer ( if she is anything like Ruby) gave him all the love and support she could. a romantic love probably developed from there and all that love and support gave led to Ruby being born. I think this is a cool theory but I feel like having another child after a year or two is understandable
I agree. I never saw Raven as a passionate mother and wife either as I do Summer(if she's a quieter version of Rwby) I feel like Raven couldn't deal with settling down and thus leaving. Summer on the other hand seemed for fitting in both ways
all the time Summer would've been given to have Ruby is about 15 months after Yang was born, or there abouts depending on what parts of the year they were born
Anima Tweek 15 months isn't a 'Long' ( please don't mind the bad pun *cough cough* ) time now that you mention it ( especially if you minus the 9 months of pregnant period). Tai and Summer didn't waist anytime it seems like.
a lot of things can happen in 15 months. family dispute between husband and wife, friend moves in to comfort the man, and about 14 months of caring for a child who has hissy fits every 2 seconds. or however long it took them. have you ever met someone and about a year later knew everything there is to know about them? i have had that, but the time frame was much less than a year. 15 months is a long time.
My theory sort of follows this, but I think their romance was purely unintentional. Summer, being the good team mate she was, saw that Tai was grieving and tried to console him as any friend would. Somewhere in the middle of all of that, a spur of the moment one nighter happened, and Summer gets pregnant. Being the good guy that he his, he owned up to his responsibilty and stayed with her, only for her to die shortly thereafter anyways.
One thing I’d like to point out, at the end of V3 when Qrow was talking to Ruby, he says “Your special Ruby. And not in be ‘daddy loves his special angel’ type of way”. Only a father would say that line.
I still think Qrow is Ruby's dad. Given the banwen siblings are twins, that'd be close enough to count. Also, Monty admitted several times that the lore was a mess and things were still being sorted out at the time he died. Futher, the writing team are absolutely in love with retcons, like what happened with Raven in seasons 2 and 4.
Now what would've been cray is if Qrow succumbed to Tyrian's poison and died, only for Ruby to find out later that he was her real dad-ultimate gut punch breakdown of Ruby right there-kinda like the Comedian is your father reveal from Watchmen
scavengerpro88 what I'm saying is that Qrow could be wearing it to honor his dead spouse (summer)... Maybe because of guilt of his semblance killing her? Or he wanted to wear one after hearing the news from Ozpin.
Black hair is most dominant hair color. If Tye's genes are dominant enough to give Yang his blond hair, then it would be dominant enough to give it to Ruby aswell.
It also explains why Ruby does not look anything like Tai, she does not share ANY traits with her supposed father. If Qrow was her father it would explain some of her traits. Such as her Pale Skin and Black Hair. While she gets her red highlights, height, and eyes from her mother. If someone who did not know anything about the show, they would assume Qrow and Summer is the father of Ruby. Making this a piece of evidence proving the theory. Going back to Yang, it would mean Raven probably had a blond haired parent or grandparent. Yang's eyes are incomplete dominant, because they are a mix of Raven's and Tai's eye colors. It makes me think that the Branwen eye color is incomplete dominance. So, if Qrow was Ruby's father, Ruby's eyes should have been a mix of red and silver. But they are not, making this as a piece of evidence disproving the theory. It could also be assumed that it was Tai who caused Yang's eyes to be incomplete dominant, possibly proving that Qrow was the father. Genetics are weird and complicated.
Maybe Qrows semblance caused Summer death and he feel guilty about it so he watch over her child, but at the same time, we could say that Ruby and Yang are close like sisters so even if they aren't related by blood, they're still close like it so "half-sister (far fetched I know, and I'll be mad a RT if they break their blood relations)
Do you even know what a "half-sibling" is? I don't think you do. It's a very specific term where one shares *half* of their DNA with a sibling because they only share one biological parent. An adopted sibling would share none of that.
Yes lets say kate had a sister then grow up with then then years later there find a letter that say that kate was adopted there would still be sisters but not by blood
One thing that I feel you missed (even though I don't really think this theory is true either) is that we have had Yang and Tai bonding/relationship scenes and Ruby and Qrow bonding/relationship scenes but nothing for Ruby and Tai and hardly anything for Yang and Qrow.
I'm not saying that this is proof of the theory, I'm just saying that this is something I've heard people bring up as evidence for the theory. You are right though, since the show is centered more around fighting the bonds shown to the audience is more of a student/mentor bond and don't really focus on the family aspect as much.
I’m gonna put my two cents in and say that Qrow had a thing for Summer, but she did end up with Tai. When this happened, he started drinking, and began avoiding them as to not spread his bad luck onto the new couple. But when Ruby was born, and Summer died, he saw her like a second chance. So he trained her, watched over her, and acted as another father figure in conjunction with Tai, in order to make sure she doesn’t suffer the same fate his partner and possible love did.
I feel like Qrow and summer were a thing but after Raven left Tai, Qrow for some reason pushed summer away or some shit and then summer and Tai became a thing because they were both lonely and supported each other to get through the loneliness and thus how ruby was born. I say this because I personally never see Tai talk about summer at all and continuously talk about Raven.
iDeath MaximuM II yah u right, but like I feel there's a great reason he should talk about her, I mean his daughter is a silver eyed warrior and so was summer. I think that would be a great way to at least start talking about her
Yeezy Breezy Well Tai is still pretty emotionally damaged about Summer I bet. Especially seeing that Summer & Ruby look identical. Probably tough to look at Ruby & not see his old lover
Now make a theory on why Ozpin lost his fight with Cinder, since he seems to have had the upper hand, especially since he hasn't made any grunt sounds when Cinder does.
You should keep in mind, Cinder is very powerful, and he is slowly growing weaker. But even still, he almost weakened Cinder enough so that Pyrrha could beat her. But Cinder has shown a very high level of control over dust, so she most likely leveraged that to help her beat him, and was what she was forced to resort to due to lack of control of her new found power and reduced aura. So far, it would seem that Cinder hasn't used any of her own aura, but instead resorts to use of magic via dust and was able to go toe to toe with any huntsman. The only aura we have seen her use was what she has stolen, and even that was through another use of magic. So when she gained that extra power, it most likely was enough to help her beat someone that she would have lost to, but just barely.
Ozpin needed to protect Jaune and Pyrrha so he used his body as a sacrifice knowing full well that he couldn't finish her off. They got away, cinder kills him and he gets away and everyone should have been safe. But Nuu Pyrrha had to go and be noble. Even though everyone abaddon the area. o.e
I agree with this it seems as though hes put a mug on top of her face to cover her up, possibly just after her death in grief. as though hes trying to forget which would line up with the 'drinking to forget' part of the video
It’d make for some good character development if this theory is true so it likely is. Something tells me that Raven doesn’t know Ruby is her niece because she wouldn’t want to see the man that gave up on her so soon and she straight-up attacks Ruby for reminding her of the women that rebounded on her man. If this theory is true then there will be character development for: Yang, Ruby, Raven, Tai, and Qrow With some details on Summer. All positives so it will happen.
Tahanok2 so spoiler alert to this book: the brother and sister are presented in the book as twin siblings of two adventurers who disappear, so they have to go and live with their uncle, who's a monster/cryptid hunter. For about 75% of the book, theyre twins, until its revealed the sister is actually the uncle's daughter who was sent away to be protected as a baby and then told they were twins...
Tahanok2 bruv, its a major part of the plot for Cryptid Hunters. They are siblings, until they find out that they aren't. In the book. Through the progression of exposition, conflict, climax and resolution...
He may also be convinced that he's fatal to the people around him because his semblance was the thing that killed summer. It could have been extremely obvious, too, or he could have blamed himself. During the scene Qrow asked to talk with Ruby, Taiyang wasn't happy about it either, it looks like there's some friction there and it immediately made me think that Qrow may be Ruby's real father. It's speculation but the pieces fit together too well.
I kind of think that the reason Tai didn't train Ruby and Qrow did was because Ruby reminded Tai too much of Summer and he was afraid of losing her too, thus becoming protective of her. Also genetics is a gamble many times, she can just look like her mom. There was a case I heard of when a mixed race couple had twins one had red hair, light skin and green eyes the other dark skinned with brown hair and eyes. If in real life something like this can happen then Ruby looking eerily like her mother shouldn't really be that shocking.
For me, a reason I could buy Taiyang getting with Summer so quickly (to be fair, 2 years is still quite a bit of time and Raven didn't die but left him) is they were already very close friends from being on the same team. Seeing their friend so hurt, understandably Qrow and Summer would both try and help him as well as help the infant Yang. But combination of his semblance and needing to help Oz as his direct agent, Qrow was around less than Summer. This meant Summer and Tai would have been spending a lot of time alone together. Maybe Summer already had a thing for Tai but kept it secret out of respect for he and Raven when they were together, maybe Summer helping to raise Yang really endeared her to both Tai and Yang whom were needing emotional stability, maybe them helping raise Yang together led to them falling in love. Could be any combination of these three or more. But Summer being around to help Tai recover from Raven makes a lot of sense on how she might have gotten with him. A bit of fuel to this is the implications made that Yang wasn't actually aware Summer wasn't her biological mother until after her death, leading to Yang trying to find Raven so she and Ruby could have a mother again. This sort of thing makes a bit less sense if Tai and Summer weren't the ones raising Yang and Ruby together.
science says in general men take a year for men to get over their wife, 2. pregnancy takes months and your 2 year gap, becomes 3 to 2 months for giga divorced father of 1,chad tai to date, and become a couple with summer rose(take into account that raven visited and argued with tai during this 2 years) so summer would have to deal with a toxic ex still being in the picture.
It was confirmed by MILES, MONTY (before he died), and others. If they wanted a plot twist and they wanted it to be a surprise, they should have said NOTHING about it.
On Steven Universe people said rose was not pink diamond... But I said she was .. The person acted like you and then he was wrong and didn't say nothing after.. Because I was right Their was clues So I will keep believing qrow is Ruby's father til volume 6
There is one thing I would point out... in a previous volume, Yang remembers Summer being a super mom and always made delicious cookies. While Ruby was very young when Summer died, Yang still has memories of Summer being a mom to both of them.
RedLikeRuby Everyone knows that xd, especially when CRWBY tells us over and over the family trees in the show have members resemeble each other in SOME way, and if THEY arent her bio family then WHO IS I MUST KNOW
Actually, Ruby IS Qrow's daughter.... along with 27 other kids he doesn't admit to either... LMAO just messing xD ... Kind of... But really yeah, fun video and fun theory, been around forever like you said and it is always a fun topic though. And I'm with you in the end, Monty dispelling it pretty much ends the theory. P.S. Liked the reference to the Ruby is a Summer clone theory LOL that started as an April Fool's joke thanks to SnowDaze for the record xD Keep up da good work !
I found a Hero Hei! XD I will always side on the Ruby is Qrow's daughter argument because of those details in the video and a couple more. I know Monty confirmed the half-sisters thing, but I'm a crackpot conspiracy theorist and think that maybe people were catching on too fast and CRWBY needed to throw us off the trail. We know how much they like their surprises... Or maybe the half-sisters thing was canon in the development phases, but after Monty passed, maybe CRWBY revisited the idea so there might be some discrepancy now. Time will only tell, I guess! Stay frosty! Snow Daze
I don’t think it’s true as Yang mentions having memories of summer and Tai being a family before summer died, and that she didn’t always know summer wasn’t her mom. If she were indeed with qrow why would she live with Tai and be a mother to Yang? Plus, after Raven suddenly left Tai he was most likely crushed, and Summer probably helped heal the whole Raven left so it isn’t that crazy to think he was close enough with summer to have a child.
Honestly, I believe the show has subtly painted the narrative for a big reveal towards the end of the series. It would make more sense for Qrow to be Ruby's father in the grand scheme of things.
@@animedude8712 narrative. Aren't you reading properly? Try and reveal something like this early in the show, and you get some reactions like. "Oh..." and/or "Ok?". If you use that plot twist correctly, you can get a reaction that you wanted, like actually give the audience something to feel. For example; Qrow was about to die and he wanted to speak to Ruby one last time. He doesn't reveal anything besides the last line where he asks if she could call him Dad or Father. You could very well receive some reactions there, probably even more than what i expect it to be since human emotions are really a complicated thing. But it was the subtle yet, huge revelation in that kind of setting which could very well change the views of the audience.
@@aeonnova82 The problem I see is, what is the point? Why do they need to be father and daughter? This seems like a pointless part of the story that doesn't need to be here. This would also bring up a problem with Qrow, as for most of the show, he has had hatred for Ozpin because he was lying to him the whole time. So, it's okay for Qrow to lie to Ruby about him, but if anyone else lies, just mark them as evil? Now, it could be Qrow hates this because he's been keeping this secret from Ruby. Still, this leads to other problems as this would also mean Tai and Yang have also have been lying to Ruby, which would most likely cause more drama within their group. There are a few other problems, but overall this is the base reason why I don't think Qrow and Ruby are related.
@@animedude8712 Right, i forgot how poorly they wrote that part where Qrow was supposed to know what the motivation behind Ozpin's actions were. Now anyway, yeah if a simple lie is enough to upset anyone then that's just something I'll give up completely. Why? They seem to forget the concept of morality. Yes, lying was bad, but was it always like that? No. Was it evil? Perhaps, depending on the perspective. There will always be a reason how and why it turned out to be, reasons that the only the liar would know unless they have someone they trust to tell. You wrote it as if team Rwby didn't lie in front of Ironwood who was only doing what he think is right just as they. You know what i call that? Hypocrisy. Why? They easily get mad at Ozpin who lied to them not because the person did something evil mind you, but because he lied to them. So anyway, is it right for Qrow to lie about the situation and make it seem like he was just an uncle? Depending on the reasons. There are many consequences that could come into play in these scenarios, and it was enough to tell how bad it would turn out if he didn't lie. Was it wrong? In some aspect to it, yes. But was it really something to get mad about for so long to be denounced? Absolutely not. Same goes with Ozpin. He lied, yes. But not without his own reasons. The writers kept putting him in a gray area when it was obvious what his views are about the future of humanity. There will always be sacrifices necessary to do your objective. In this case, it was to lie about the existence of some power that humanity was not ready for, for obvious reasons i have no need to tell unless you're one of those idiots who don't have a head of their own. Actions will always have consequences depending on what you are trying to hide, or what you are trying to mislead others into thinking. Anyhow, if you still insist how it will make sense, i would like to say that you're a fucking idiot. Now about the lying part, stop making it seem like you haven't made a lie at some point on your life to not know what the differences are, to not know when could it be accepted. Hell, you might even be a bigger liar than i am, you just hide behind your mask very well to deny that to yourself subconsciously. My words are harsh, i agree. But you sound like an idiot so i need to open your mind a little.
@@aeonnova82 First, cause I feel I need to put this down, F*** YOU, you in entitled asshole. You could have taken the time to write a convincing argument about why Qrow and Ruby make scenes, but instead, you spent your time trying to insult me to make yourself feel better. You waste your time already by commenting on a 2-year-old comment. Am I a loser for commenting back to you? Yes. Still, I'm hopeful someone could at least give me a few good reasons why this works. Yes, I'm aware that the other characters lied. Blake lied about being a Faunus, John used documents to get into the school, and yes, the whole team lied to Ironwood about what happened to them. Was it wrong, maybe? But let's remember no less than two arks ago, they were betrayed by someone they could trust. So, I'd say they were in the right to keep some info from him before telling them everything. Besides lying, a few other things don't add up. For example, why did they need to think Tai was Ruby's dad? This part doesn't make scenes as there are other ways they could have done this. What if Summer said her dad was away on a mission or something? Why go to you're emotionally unstable friend and have him pretend to be Ruby's dad? That's not something ordinary people do. Another thing is if Qrow is trying to keep safe, why is he getting close to her? I mean training her, egging her on to go after Cinders group? It just doesn't seem to add up all that well. These things just don't add up to the whole Qrow is Ruby's dad. If you can make a decent reason for why this needs to happen, let me know. If you just want to insult me, you need to find something better to do.
I believe that one thing possibly being overlooked as a cause for Qrow's close relation with Ruby could be her silver eyes. They make her and especially her *training*, very very important. It's possible Ozpin wished for Ruby to be trained by one of his own disciples, to prepare her for all the shit she's in now cause with the same silver eyes as her mom (rest her soul), she was going to be involved, like it or not. And Tai was willing to allow this because like i said and i'm sure Ozpin would tell him, her being involved in things is inevitable.
death-kuja how is it confirmed again? Half-sisters doesn’t mean same mother, one. Two, as explained by someone in the comments, Steven Universe debunked a theory in a similar fashion then ended up confirming it later
I didn't expect to actually be convinced when watching this video. While I don't think that RT will do this..... I'd actually be okay with it if it did happen.
Everyone mentioning the drops as if they are drink stains have obviously never spilled a drink around paper before. As someone who unfortunately has experience, I'll let you in on a secret. That's not what drink spills looks like.
The ring could be a wet bottom of a glass, and the drops could be tears. I support the theory and think that the glass being on summers face should mean something
The biggest reason I don't believe this theory is that, if Summer and Qrow were a couple, and if she was pregnant with Qrow's child, then why would Summer and Tai be living together in the first place? And Yang even said Summer treated her like a daughter. Hell, it wasn't until after Summer's death that Tai even told Yang about Raven being her real mom. There has been nothing from Yang's account as a child that would imply Summer and Tai weren't a real couple. Granted, I suppose it could have gone down the lines of Qrow asking Summer to play along, and stay with a recently heartbroken Tai. And not so suddenly what started as a charade became the reality, giving Qrow another reason to drink when his sister's ex-lover started shagging the mother of his child. But that leads to a dynamic that would be much more hostile than what we've seen. If nothing else, I think the whole point of Qrow and Ruby's similarities is that team STRQ are meant to be parallels to team RWBY. Yang is to Tai, Ruby is to Qrow, Weiss is to Summer (this is the most lofty comparison, but Summer's color representation is always white. there's been nothing on her character so far though to really drive this home), and Raven is to Blake (both having a tendency to run away, know more than their colleagues think, and both being the greatest sources of emotional reaction in Yang).
I see Qrow more as someone who raised Ruby but she wasn't legally his. I mean Tai was a single parent with 2 kids, I'm sure Qrow was fine to look after Ruby. This would explain why Ruby looks up to Qrow more than Tai
...If that was true, then why the fuck did he use his Misfortune Semblance as an excuse as for why he didn't accompany Team RNJR from the beginning? Hell, how could he have been a teacher in Signal if his Semblance was really "that" bad?
I don't personally believe this theory. What I think (which is an assumption) is that maybe Summer was there to help Tai raise Yang after Raven left. He would probably be upset and would have trouble raising Yang on his own and so Summer, most likely being close to Tai wanted to help when she can. This could have then sparked a romance between them causing Ruby to come to be. In real life, people have started dating again after losing someone months afterwards and what not. Whose to say that this isn't different.
In my opinion Qrow is Ruby's father there is allot of evidence to support this but the biggest one in my opinion is how RWBY treats how families work in the show like with Weiss all her family has white hair and blue eyes Blake just looks like her parents especially her mom and Yang looks exactly like a younger version of Raven with Tai's hair color. but with Ruby we don't see any of Tai in her she looks like a young Summer but carries some of the color schemes of Qrow. RWBY is very careful with their character designs and are designed to resemble their parents. This is probably a plot point later on in the show to further Rubys character where she learns about her true father and how Yang isn't related to her. This is just my opinion but i really don't see a way that Tai being Ruby's father could make any sense.
Sang-fantôme it doesn’t make any logical sense but if he said that they are half sisters then yeah they are half sister. But they shouldn’t be half sisters in my opinion so I don’t know fuck it.
EruptionFang - I think Qrow's bad luck is what killed Summer and why he doesn't want to be around Ruby as a parent.
EruptionFang qrow is the dad why would he follow Ruby around and not yang who is the daughter of his teammates and sister while Ruby is just the daughter of his teammates

Exactly!
@Eden Brown If the tweet came out in 2014, it was probably before it was explained in the show who Summer was. Was it still kind of a dumb theory? Yes. But what they were asking was if Yang was in some capacity "Summer Rose," not if Yang was Ruby's mom.
Yang wasn't even born yet when STRQ were Beacon students. That's a dumb theory.
If Qrow was REALLY Ruby’s father than Ruby and Yang would be related becouse...
Yang’s mom is Raven and Raven is Qrow’s sister so Yang and Ruby would be cousins
Yaay
Emma Sofie They’re still related either way.
Yeh but monty said they were half sisters so did taiyang re marry or qrows ruby father
Mclaren Leon Qrow is not Ruby’s father. That has already been debunked long ago, don’t know why that theory’s still around. Tai had Yang with Raven and after Raven left, he remarried with Summer and had Ruby. So yes, they are half sisters.

So he cares about Yang more
Good point
U have a point seeing that yang is his ACTUAL niece by his sister
The circle on summer in the photo is most likely a glass circle from his drinking
That would make no sense though. Why would Qrow set a glass on top of a picture that has so much sentimental value to him?
Nerds Anomalous to forget it, same reason he drinks
Maybe he wants to hide her when he drinks?
Not sure, but I seem to remember hearing/reading somewhere that Qrow only started drinking after Summer's death. More than a little likely that he puts the glass over her to try and forget her while drinking. They were teammates - and if they were anything like team RWBY (which we know they were at least superficially) that means they were close. The glass stain may also explain the stains. Could be tears, but it could also be stains from the drink. Qrow drinking over the photo doesn't really count towards or against the theory, unfortunately.
+Nerds Anomalous
You can tell from how the circle is lined that it was from an object, like a mug.
If you watched the rwby chibi episode Parent conference qrow is there boom proof
What if they were hinting it so no one would think about since its chibi
Thats the spin-off series
Just because Qrow was there doesn't mean anything. I mean, Qrow is a roll model and arguably parental figure in the minds of Yang and Ruby. And to be honest, he might as well be their legal guardian, at which point him being their makes sense because legal guardians can come in the place if actual parents.
@@Hunter_Evans It means everything. Stop being toxic and acknowledge the possibilities. Nothing is impossible.

Chadyang strikes again!
... Yeah, not likely. Has anyone watched how that man acted!?
Camri Tabron Qrow nicknamed Yang as “Firecracker”
Yeah, because Ruby spends more time with Qrow than Yang does, and Ruby's also younger.

Maybe, she was an accident but Summer and Tai were together, and I think that's why Tai kind of hates Qrow?
Bruh he just loves her so much even more than yang which is deppresing of he is actually her dad and she doesnt know it
One thing that needs to be added from Volume 7 is when Qrow talks about summer after ruby gets her license.
2:02 The casual, respectful gay joke thrown in. I like it. :)
Yes the gay jokes yes
Fuck ads >:)
Reasons I’m convinced that Qrow is Ruby’s father.
1. She bears a far greater resemblance to Qrow then she does do to Tai.
2. They have similar fashion sense. And personality’s.
3. I categorically fucking refuse to believe that Taiyang is that lucky.
The Whole team- Tai
Brother ite not that tai is lucky. Its thst qrow isnt
they share similarities because she has looked up to him from a young age, and her outfit is a mix between summer rose's and qrows.
Or maybe Qrow had a thing for Summer but Tai ended up with her, that would explain why they seem to not like each other and why Qrow cares so much for Ruby (because she is the daughter of the woman he loved)
yiledute thats some harry potter(snape) level of deepness
yiledute that's what I thought
I've always thought tai liked crow but knows the danger of having him around so he tries to serve as a buffer (probably because his bad luck killed summer)
Or maybe Tai doesn't think that his first wife's brother is a good influence on his daughters because he's a raging alcoholic.
Ruby and qrow have similar hair colours, but rubys has a slight red tinge in hers

Summer definitely didn't die at childbirth or like soon after. Yang notes that she was "like Super Mom". Yang must have been at least probably a few years old like 5 to remember her but so Ruby is too young to really remember her.

Mister Chew Oh...well then she said “THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!”

But they are also very possibly drink spills because they also show up inside the condensation ring and the ones in side it look the same as the ones outside it so whatever made the mark was a similar substance
i believe it has to do with the song red like roses 1 & 2
This is a really valid point, but I don't think his semblance killed her in battle. I think that it was the fact he impregnated her that inevitably led to her death. Does anyone know if Summer died in childbirth? Because that would make more sense to me and it would give Qrow far more guilt over potentially causing his daughter to carry the same bad luck.
Summer.. her name was Summer.. and she went on that mission Solo.. and it's not stated she died, just said she never returned.
that said it is safe to assume she is dead
2:01 “God only knows how close he got with getting with qrow as well, he almost got a clean sweep” 😂😂🤣👏🏻
Oh man this theory. Get ready for a good ride in the comments.
HuntSD how to start a war in this fandom: "the show sucks now because Monty is gone" , "bumbleby or blacksun is cannon" and this theory.
HuntSD your dam right

HuntSD aight I agree...but.....GROW ITS NOT RUBY'S DAD *^* ;^;
ccruz 1156 who is GROW?
Also we don’t know exactly how Summer died. If Qrow perceived that it was the fault of his semblance he is more likely to try and push Ruby away.
Jay Harv28 Then there is a high possibility that Qrow was on the mission with her. That would cause him to blame himself more, either his bad luck or the failure to save her when he was meant to have her back.
I hate how you practically convince me of something and then your like "i dont think so tho despite making this ENTIRE VIDEO about it 🤷"
he's just trying to make an argument for it like he said at the end.
Jerza Fiore until u stop crying when u figure out Qrow killed Summer

It also could be that summer had a thing for Ty and when raven left she confessed and caught him at a vulnerable position and he took it.
I really don't like to think of Ruby's mother as someone who takes advantage of people
Ryoki Uzumasa Raven is a coward who ran for over a decade, but you wouldn't guess it with how much of a badass she can be.
Ashema Bahumat to be honest, I don't see Raven as a coward. She made a choice to go against two godlike beings and try to survive
If it wasn’t for Monty clearly stating that Ruby and Yang are Half-Sisters, then I would’ve believed in this theory back when it started.
It wouldn't be the first thing Rooster Teeth have changed since Monty
Maybe Monty said to not spoil anything.
Ruby's parents are Qrow and Raven confirmed!
Fernando Giubilei and enabler is cannon!
MewDenise Did he quote that somewhere?
To everyone who comes to threads like this only to comment "but Monty said they're half-sisters":
-Let people have their fun
-Qrow and Raven are twins, so if Ruby were Qrows daughter, she and Yang would still share half the same genetic makeup through the Branwen side, making them, genetically, half sisters
-Let people have their fun
Can people have their fun and think Tai's the father as well?
Artemis Fisher- They’d still be cousins! Whoooooooo cousinsssssss!
This exactly.
TL;DR
Qrow is best Uncle, everyone loved Summer and Tai hoped Ruby never went down this road. But she did...

(O.o)
@@demonitizeddemonz5977 I am honestly convinced that the whole team was doing it with each other minus Crow x Raven
Damn you also named yourself Vermillion
I really want that theory to be true but I believe that Qrow loved Summer however she ended up with Tai, when she died he decided to watch over Ruby because Ruby is the child of the woman he loved.
Maybe qrow is actually professor Snape???

When Summer died, Ruby was so young that she could barely voice out any words from her mouth yet. Tai was always busy with teaching at schools, and Yang was basically the one who “picked up the pieces”. Qrow could be a godfather to Ruby if anything, because he saved her and Yang numerous times.
Qrow is the Serious Black of RWBY.
Dunne N' dusted Monty confirmed years ago the Ruby and Yang are half sisters. Thus theory been debunked a long time ago.
Qrows drinking because of Summer'
The image of team STRQ shows Qrow was taking it worse than Tai himself.
Volume 4 was spent with family/ fathers like, Weiss with Jacques, Blake with Cali and Ghira, Yang and Tai, but then Ruby and Qrow (But thats a small detail)
Ruby and Qrow have similar personalities and similar character designs.
You're personality might shape you from the teacher you had in elementary school because you're young-
, but in highschool, you're your own person.
Honestly I would much prefer this instead of tai being the father, it makes more sense and has better build up and story plot for the future.
honestly, i like this theory. they act so alike for a two that would be niece and uncle. like their personality’s are nearly the same. some may argue she gets it from summer, but what does she get from tai? we only see that she is pretty much alike to qrow.
I second! I mean, all the signs are there and especially after seeing level of interactions between all the "parents" and children, it's almost ridiculous for Ruby Rose not to be Qrow's daughter.
Took me half an hour to read ;-; I’m a really slow reader

Holy shit i didnt notice qcrow picture, good eyes
One thing I’d like to point out, at the end of V3 when Qrow was talking to Ruby, he says “Your special Ruby. And not in be ‘daddy loves his special angel’ type of way”. Only a father would say that line.
I still think Qrow is Ruby's dad. Given the banwen siblings are twins, that'd be close enough to count. Also, Monty admitted several times that the lore was a mess and things were still being sorted out at the time he died. Futher, the writing team are absolutely in love with retcons, like what happened with Raven in seasons 2 and 4.
Now what would've been cray is if Qrow succumbed to Tyrian's poison and died, only for Ruby to find out later that he was her real dad-ultimate gut punch breakdown of Ruby right there-kinda like the Comedian is your father reveal from Watchmen
rat rumors
Eh, kinda cliche
You also overlooked the fact that the necklace that Qrow wears has to deal with the norse mythology of the loss of a loved one
zachary yates go on...
scavengerpro88 what I'm saying is that Qrow could be wearing it to honor his dead spouse (summer)... Maybe because of guilt of his semblance killing her? Or he wanted to wear one after hearing the news from Ozpin.
zachary yates I was more interested in the mythology :3
Qrow was wearing that necklace even when Summer was alive, look at the team photo again.
Overlooked or just lack or knowledge?
@@commissionerhan81 but isnt her eyes silver
Maybe Qrows semblance caused Summer death and he feel guilty about it so he watch over her child, but at the same time, we could say that Ruby and Yang are close like sisters so even if they aren't related by blood, they're still close like it so "half-sister (far fetched I know, and I'll be mad a RT if they break their blood relations)
How did you know?
Half sisters means they have one biological parent
Chocolate Kitty Monty said they were half sisters so no different definition of it
That's why I said I'll me mad at them if they twist what he said.(because if they want they can)
windsfiend They won't since Miles and Kerry helped build the world of the show
You can be someone's sister without there being blood
But you can't be a half-sister unless you share a biological parent.
Do you even know what a "half-sibling" is? I don't think you do. It's a very specific term where one shares *half* of their DNA with a sibling because they only share one biological parent. An adopted sibling would share none of that.
You're being ridiculous. Even Miles has now confirmed that Qrow is *not* her father on Reddit.
Yes lets say kate had a sister then grow up with then then years later there find a letter that say that kate was adopted there would still be sisters but not by blood
Duh.
One thing that I feel you missed (even though I don't really think this theory is true either) is that we have had Yang and Tai bonding/relationship scenes and Ruby and Qrow bonding/relationship scenes but nothing for Ruby and Tai and hardly anything for Yang and Qrow.
DrTimelord82 Ruby only had one scene with Tai that Qrow interrupted
Because Taiyang trained Yang so they grew closer and same with Qrow and ruby real master and student relationships sre like parent child relationships
I'm not saying that this is proof of the theory, I'm just saying that this is something I've heard people bring up as evidence for the theory. You are right though, since the show is centered more around fighting the bonds shown to the audience is more of a student/mentor bond and don't really focus on the family aspect as much.
Wait there was a theory about Yang being Ruby's mom? How would that... ever work tho
Yea true cause their only like a year apart so it dosent make sense for Yang to be Ruby's Mom
Lol time travel
Yeezy Breezy Because Summer died. Ravens alive. I'm sure Tai thinks about Summer everyday but just doesn't see a reason to talk about her
iDeath MaximuM II yah u right, but like I feel there's a great reason he should talk about her, I mean his daughter is a silver eyed warrior and so was summer. I think that would be a great way to at least start talking about her
Yeezy Breezy Well Tai is still pretty emotionally damaged about Summer I bet. Especially seeing that Summer & Ruby look identical. Probably tough to look at Ruby & not see his old lover
iDeath MaximuM II true true, you make a very solid point my friend. I'm guess I'm just salty because I wanna see more summer rose content
Yeezy Breezy We all do. I wanna have like an OVA of RWBY about Team STRQ
Now make a theory on why Ozpin lost his fight with Cinder, since he seems to have had the upper hand, especially since he hasn't made any grunt sounds when Cinder does.
he went full obi-wan, just so he could get his hands a boy
he wanted that farm boi body
I thought before vol. 4 he was gonna time travel but that theory was shot to hell. So maybe he needed a new body..... of a young boy......
Even though everyone abaddon the area. o.e

Me:"I think he put a bottle of wine on summer."
If this theory is true then there will be character development for: Yang, Ruby, Raven, Tai, and Qrow
With some details on Summer.
All positives so it will happen.
God i really hope so
They did a similar thing with the Cryptid Hunters books. The two siblings turned out to not be siblings but were actually cousins.
So did the author reveal that they were siblings outside the books, or was that just how the books kept presenting it?
Tahanok2 so spoiler alert to this book: the brother and sister are presented in the book as twin siblings of two adventurers who disappear, so they have to go and live with their uncle, who's a monster/cryptid hunter. For about 75% of the book, theyre twins, until its revealed the sister is actually the uncle's daughter who was sent away to be protected as a baby and then told they were twins...
Tahanok2 look up Roland Smith
That didn't answer my question. There's a difference in the author being dishonest outside the books and the books being misleading themselves.
I believe Crow is Ruby's father
There were hints in Rwby chibi between qrow and Ruby
Confirmed false.
They just saying that for pilot twist
It was confirmed by MILES, MONTY (before he died), and others.
If they wanted a plot twist and they wanted it to be a surprise, they should have said NOTHING about it.
On Steven Universe people said rose was not pink diamond... But I said she

The person acted like you and then he was wrong and didn't say nothing after.. Because I was right
Their was clues
So I will keep believing qrow is Ruby's father til volume 6
There is one thing I would point out... in a previous volume, Yang remembers Summer being a super mom and always made delicious cookies. While Ruby was very young when Summer died, Yang still has memories of Summer being a mom to both of them.
My theory is that tai has a secret kid with qrow, I just wanna believe that tai hooked with all of team STRQ
The fact that Tai was getting it with Raven, Qrow hooking up with Summer would not surprise me. And that Ruby doesn’t resemble Tai in the slightest.
Gracekim1 but genetics pay a big part in it. Think about it. If she's Tai's daughter she would have to take at least some traits from him.
Nerds Anomalous exactly and she said like...ZERO besides the giant baby-ness
M. X Ruby doesn't look like Qrow either
RedLikeRuby Yes she does...the resemblance is uncanny, albeit she looks more like a mini-Summer but she looks like them both to me.

Crispy Johnson Why would that make sense?

Everyone mentioning the drops as if they are drink stains have obviously never spilled a drink around paper before. As someone who unfortunately has experience, I'll let you in on a secret. That's not what drink spills looks like.
well it could be a glass only wet around the edges.. it's not impossible at all
that is possible for the circle, that could be made by a mug or whatever, but the other spots are more like droplets, too spaced out
I was thinking that the drop marks are from tears.
The ring could be a wet bottom of a glass, and the drops could be tears. I support the theory and think that the glass being on summers face should mean something
they do look like tear drops tho
Remember the camp fire scien? Crow says his semblince is hard on friends and ... famly
Plot twist. He is her father but he is too drunk to realise.
Dániel Takács, I don't like where this would be going :/
A Perfect theory, you made.
(Sarcasm intended)
Somerandom Guy You bet it's perfect. (Sarcasm intended)
Sol yah
Plot twist twist. Everyone is too drunk and doesn't realise Summer is still alive.
I guess he made excuses to leave when something important happens for Ruby (Competitions, Tests, etc)
Bruh "god know how close he was to getting with Qrow. He almost got a clean sweep"
How about Monty and Miles explicitly stating that they're half-sisters and Qrow isn't Ruby's dad lol.
Sang-fantôme it doesn’t make any logical sense but if he said that they are half sisters then yeah they are half sister. But they shouldn’t be half sisters in my opinion so I don’t know fuck it.
Lol appreciate the reply and honesty, mate. Cheers!
Sang-fantôme you’re welcome my boy and thanks
Rooster teeth says Taiyang is her dad so whats the point of this theory!!
