Yeah. Personally I whised that they kept the whole "always bring drunk" thing because it made him more of a Drunken Master type which made him more cool and funny.

My own headcanon was that the alcohol quite directly helped him deal with the misfortune bit by tempering or dampening it or some such. But I don't think that made him any kind of a good role model- which ok fine that does make for a more complex characater. I kinda partially think he should have been killed off to keep the series nice and spicy and follow the ol' dead mentor trope. Not a big fan of the mushy feely perpetually sad face (seriously look at the animation) Qrow in the later seasons. I'd totally understand if he broke on Clover's death though... here comes plug in the plothole headcanon again...

Honestly the moment that Clover said that his semblance was good luck he was gonna bite the dust. Cause like what happens to good luck? It runs out. And honestly i didn’t feel anything when Clover did die because it’s kinda hard to mourn a character you know nothing about. Like we know literally nothing about him and the only thing he served to be was development for Qrow and Harriet. I do feel bad for Qrow. Because he lost the first friend he’s had since the whole blow out with Oz in Volume 6 but Clover himself? Meh.

Like black cats are super cute, and friendly with me, I’m lucky on Friday the 13th, ladders and umbrellas don’t scare me, as I occasionally walk under a ladder to prove my point. Anything spooky is my fave, so as things stand from above and the fact that a crow is my spirit animal, I love Qrow

You likely love it for the reason we all do: he's resisting his inner demons and showing growth. It's a struggle to kick an addiction and we recognize how difficult that moment must've been for him so we want to root for him.
Since this series took a lot of inspiration from stories with a main cast of child/adolescent characters (e.g. YA Novels, Shonen manga and action cartoon series) it's nice to see an adult character actually be competent, respects the younger characters, and not relegated to the sidelines or just killed off.

Volume 9 hits even harder now, revisiting these scenes. Ruby also lost Qrow and he always was the one to check up on her when she was away from the group or down. Now wonder she hit her breaking point after losing part of her support system. Qrow is just best fictional uncle at this rate.
Vic and Jason both play Qrow very well. Vic does a great cynical drunk Qrow, (some heartwarming moments as well) while Jason does a great sentimental sober Qrow.

IF it gets so far with Salem already beeing there... I don't think there will be much of a prison left after they busted out watts.. if they dont send tyrion in to kill him for his failure.

He befriended Clover before and they were on good terms. Qrow normally should have tried to talk with Clover and worked together with him to take down Tyrian instead. They both knew he was a maniacal serial killer. So why listen to that guy instead of working with a genuinely good person who was just following orders. Qrow was so out of character and incredibly stupid that I was just frustrated when Clover was killed
Man, it makes me sad seeing not only one occurence but multiple of Qrow taking someone's hand, only for them to shrug it off.. like I understand the circumstances, but it's still sad
I think that was them having a moment of quick reconciliation after the camp fight. They basically agreed to disagree because they both want the same thing; keeping the people they care about safe. Qrow says he wanted to protect everybody in RNJR, not just Ruby and so does Jaune. It’s not sad - it’s heartwarming.

If anyone here did not know, Qrow’s voice actor is the same one for Edward from Full Metal Alchemist. If you listen sometimes he does actually sound like him to, like his Qrow voice slips and he sounds like Ed for a split second
Unfortunately it was. Now its Hei from Darker than Black. Hes doing a good job, but I still prefer the original, and his whole situation against him is suspicious to me.
I can't actually hear Ed but the raspy voice is perfect for the character. Just going to choose to believe the new VA is just how Qrow sounds sobered up.
That little interaction with Qrow and Clover in the truck still gets me. Qrow gives up drinking and in a subtle way acknowledges it was indeed a problem that he wants to move past (probably ever since the encounter with the Apathy when he was drunk, irritable, and in his mind, useless and unreliable; which he was, but the Apathy's powers probably made it worse and he still blames himself for that). His little chuckle to reassure Clover he gave it up also said he really wanted Clover's friendship and respect and was afraid he had disappointed him by bringing it back up before being legitimately surprised at Clover's compliment.
I like Qrow alot from the show. He always seemed like that drunk uncle who was goofy but when he got serious he would spit facts and advice for life. Plus, something to remember, he is a hunter in what I would assume his middle ages, which if what is said is true about huntsman, they don't live to be old unless they are exceptionally skilled.

Qrow really is a awesome character. His semblance literally screws him over no matter what he does. But yet he continues to prove time and time again that he is one of the strongest hunters. As well as the fact his sister is a asshole but yet he still dishes out great wisdom to Ruby and Yang.

I can't actually hear Ed but the raspy voice is perfect for the character. Just going to choose to believe the new VA is just how Qrow sounds sobered up.

That little interaction with Qrow and Clover in the truck still gets me. Qrow gives up drinking and in a subtle way acknowledges it was indeed a problem that he wants to move past (probably ever since the encounter with the Apathy when he was drunk, irritable, and in his mind, useless and unreliable; which he was, but the Apathy's powers probably made it worse and he still blames himself for that). His little chuckle to reassure Clover he gave it up also said he really wanted Clover's friendship and respect and was afraid he had disappointed him by bringing it back up before being legitimately surprised at Clover's compliment.

I like Qrow alot from the show. He always seemed like that drunk uncle who was goofy but when he got serious he would spit facts and advice for life. Plus, something to remember, he is a hunter in what I would assume his middle ages, which if what is said is true about huntsman, they don't live to be old unless they are exceptionally skilled.
Watching Qrow really trying to do his best for the kids gives me so many feelings ㅠㅠ I love him

Qrow really is a awesome character. His semblance literally screws him over no matter what he does. But yet he continues to prove time and time again that he is one of the strongest hunters. As well as the fact his sister is a asshole but yet he still dishes out great wisdom to Ruby and Yang.
