Precisely me right now, 50 yrs pain has become unbearable. You've described my feeling of living a lie, pretending not to be afraid, but can't keep it up any longer. It's not only me though(!) Thank you David.

I suggest an Ayahuasca Ceremony, integration from your core in connection to the whole, I'm certain it'd help.

I’ve gone from split and injured to whole many times actually.
When I feel whole and all my trauma is gone I somehow create new trauma.
I feel so vulnerable and in there I get easily hurt again and then the defender comes back…. It’s a journey to find peace

    • @paulinauka6977

If you "create new trauma" as you said, it means that you werent whole at all in fact... I think it's the hurt/injured part of you acting out or sabotaging, I think. Especially so as you say you feel vulnerable, it means that this injured part doesn't feel safe, is still hurt. I think integration is really the ultimate goal, something that we reach after a really long time of dialoguing. I'm on a journey to it too so I'm wishing you best of luck 😊😊😊

Your videos have been incredibly insightful for me. I have only just found them here on RUclips while looking into a newer diagnosis of cptsd. Many years ago as a teen I was told by a therapist that I did have some characteristics of a borderline personality but did not meet all the criteria. I was prescribed antidepressants but they did nothing for me, as did therapy which I quit within the second year. I did have a rough childhood in some respects, molested and abused by my older male cousins from 4-5 until around 9 or so, then my middle aged bil manipulated me into a sexual relationship the summer I turned 13… I thought I had healed, gotten over, these things as a teen when I met my husband at 16. We ended up getting married at 21 and in my mind I had “made it”. However shortly after the birth of our 1st child I had a seizure and discovered an AVM requiring brain surgery, around that same time I learned that my husband used pornography and was lying about it. Because the boys who molested me and my bil had used porn with me present as a child it created such an incredible and intense emotional feeling of emptiness and devastation I spiraled out of control not understanding what it even meant. In the midst of that crisis I found what I believed was the answer then in the form of sex addiction education found in Christian ministries, in that porn use was a form of marital adultery and betrayal. Since then I have struggled greatly with despair, jealousy, and hopelessness… for over 20 years now. Last year I learned that my husband is also a voyeur, has taken and saved pictures of my sister and other women which he then composed albums of porn seperated in files based upon a kind of theme. I have realized over this last year that I have not healed my original trauma but also that the porn use and my betrayed reactions have continued to traumatize me, in particular the feeling that I am being manipulated, used, and fooled. I find that this has all attacked my sense of worth, my value as a human being. It has caused me to essentially retreat into a shell of shame, humiliation, and resentment. I feel trapped by humiliation, just as I did as a child, despite being a grown middle aged woman. On top of all this I have found myself embroiled in a deep desire for Faith yet I feel I have no authentic faith at all.
To hear you speak, how you articulate these processes, it makes so much sense. To hear it spelled out explains what I had no words to describe. Trying to explain to my husband my two opposite sides, the pull towards one or the other in moments of weakness, the confusion, disillusion… if I am understanding this content, I do believe that I have struggled all this time to silence my injured side, despite the intense desires, in favor of my defender side because I have been unable to face the powerlessness of vulnerability in my relationship due to his perceived betrayal… thank you.

@@sarahalderman3126 dont trust people trying to prey on the injured, ayahuaska can help but also it can cause even more trauma if administered by money hungry novices, also having done ayahuaska i think its better not to rely on outside sources to heal, its more impowering when you learn that you already have everything that you need

greetings! I wonder if you have a video on "feeling as if you are forced" maybe to study or to even small things like brushing your teeth , I really don't know what this is called in psychology so I'm asking, thanks anyway
edit: It's like you want something "having a better life, not worrying about bills etc" solution is there, studying. You want to study, but your mind doesn't. Your mind thinks you are FORCED to do it, so it doesn't wanna do it, you are not gonna study and there are consequences but your mind is kinda satisfied "at least you are not doing something you are forced to do" . any video on that?

Hi there. I think I talk about coercive language in many of the videos. It's about the 'have to, should do, need to do' language that surrounds procrastination. There is a chapter on this in my book also.

How does this approach reconcile with the concept of the "false self?" IFS tells us to listen to all parts, but I'm not certain of the delineation between the defender vs. the false self. A lot of the elements of my "false self" are inherited coping mechanisms & beliefs (ones I follow but disagree with) from my parents - so it's challenging to delineate.

Im in a weird position now. If I do "too much" inner child work, this injured part is alive and I pay attention to it, I feel as if I was less "myself". But well that doesn't really make sense as this injured inner child is myself 🤔 Maybe it's because it's not what Im used to? Or am I acting out of fear, the defender (the only part with which I've identified up until now) doesn't want to let go? Do you guys have problems with that too?
