    If you tuck it in the base of the mirror the temperature reading would be off

    My mirrors already had a black wire two over from the white corner one so I spliced the black wire to the existing one. It worked and I erased the check engine light

      Some vehicles utilize this pin for defrost, so we include a butt connector to perform the splice if needed!

    • @markstowell7771

      Do you combine the old one and new one together at one end of the butt connectior and then have the other end plug into the port where the original black connection was?

  • @shy_1980

    Hi, so I put this in but the spot for the black wire was already occupied. I did take out that wire and put your wires in where it said, I moved the other wire that was there over one. My temp is fine now but the check engine light is still on. Any ideas?

    • @boostautoparts
      @boostautoparts  6 лет назад +1

      The code must be cleared after the harness is installed by a scan tool. After you do this the check engine light should disappear.
      Regarding the other wire, the black wire is a shared ground with the defrost. If you originally had a black wire there you will want to splice the black wire from our kit so both the defrost and temp sensor circuits can function. Please contact us if you have any further questions.

      I have wires in both locations. Now I'm worried what I'll mess up if I start pulling pins and replacing wires.

    Added aftermarket tow mirrors to my 2017 ram 1500 a few years back. Never had this sensor on my original mirrors and it wasn’t on the new mirrors. Now I’m getting the check engine light for this sensor. Any idea why?

    Could this also cause my fronts windows to not work? Rear windows work fine.

    If my new tow mirrors came with an ambient temperature sensor I don’t need this harness correct?

    • @boostautoparts
      @boostautoparts  2 года назад +1

      Correct - and all of our Ram style towing mirrors for 4th Gen's come with a temp sensor automatically so if you bought them from us you're all set.

    Followed instructions to the letter still getting -40 degrees. Cleared check engine, still getting -40 degrees. Reset aat sensor by pressing ac and recirculate simultaneously for 5-10 seconds repeatedly. Still -40 degrees. Worst $65 I ever spent.

    Question, could the air sensor reading -40 before installing these cause the transmission to hold a gear longer? Put on aftermarket tow mirrors and it holds 2nd until I hit 40 miles an hour then it goes into 4th gesr.

      Actually this harness is exclusively used on other companies mirrors; our mirrors come with the temperature sensor installed so this issue wouldn't happen. This harness will work on your opt7 tow mirrors.
