- Hello artists! How's everyone doing? I'm back with something that caught my eye at a recent trip to Michael's: the Artist's Loft colored pencil blender! This dual tipped colorless blender really packed a punch and worked surprisingly well. However, there's a learning curve to all colored pencil blending methods. Here I discuss some tips on what worked for me personally, and what will help aid you in blending with this little power house of a blender. Stay tuned towards the end for some special announcements regarding my patreon page and some extras/bloopers you just might dig. Really appreciated and learned a lot from what you shared here! I do alot of colored pencil work and yup... I'm one of those hold -several -pencils- in -hand -as- I -go artists ...and have an embarrassingly messy scribble area to wipe off pigment & stuff, just to the side of my piece too🙄

LOL! Excellent video. I used to very fine pen and ink drawings until I suffered a stroke. It has been a real challenge trying to get back to drawing for my work. I have just started again after 20 years of using the stroke and my great disappointment at not being able to create at my former level as a reason not to create at all. It is slow, I won’t kid you but I am determined to see this through. I appreciate what you do and I have to say that your sense of humor makes everything easier. And, more enjoyable.
Oh well thank you so much! I'm a goof, so I'm happy to share my goofiness with the world. I'm so sorry that you suffered a stroke. That must have been very hard. You can do it! Just keep practicing day by day, and your confidence will grow. I believe the brain is capable of relearning and expanding upon what you already know! Keep it up!

I really liked that blender. I found out both of the ones I've bought just dried up on one end and just stopped working not long after I bought them.
That’s a shame! I’ll see how far this one goes and report back.
Did you have them standing up on one end? Double ended pens need to be stored laying flat other wise one end will dry out!

i am still confused! is the blender only supposed to be used with watercolor colored pencils?
I wonder if you can add solvent in the market once it’s dry I think it’s filled with some kind of alcohol
Question. I’m layering 3 colors for a leaf. Then used the artist loft blender pencil. Do I then repeat process again. OR should I layer upon layer and finish with blender pencil?
You’re using the blender pen? Or the blender pencil? Because I’d recommend layer upon layer and wait to blend until you’re ready to finish it.

Question, how do you clean your blender? I’m struggling right now
I regularly wipe it with a towel or rag, just a little damp. If that doesn't work, if you want to deep clean it, dip the tip in bleach and let it dry overnight.

So when you finish blending one part, do you have to have a piece of scrap paper and just try to get the pigment off the tips of the blender?
Yes, that’s exactly what I do. Either that or with a towel/clean rag. I should’ve mentioned that.

Can anyone explain how this differs from alcohol markers?
I don’t think it differs much at all from a larger clear alcohol marker; just might be easier on smaller drawings and in details.
