      it's because the pressure amount applied to derwent colored pencil is more pigmented than prismacolor

    I've used both with polychromos and I definitely prefer the prismatic color blender. I found that the Derwent didn't blend them very well and also seemed to change the color of some of the colors . Thank you so much for sharing your review with how the blenders work with different pencils 😊 I love all your videos too!

    Would've been nice if you cleaned off the blender before you tested the next color. There is no way of knowing how much product was transferred to each example. Maybe a do over would be much more accurate. Video was lovely but it did not give definite results. Thanks for the Video.

      Kathaleen Wood are you taking about the Prisma one because Prisma is normally gray like that. I also thought it was dirty but I got one that wasn’t sharpened and it had that grey design.

      @@3thalluing339 she/he is talking about sharpen/clean off the pencil colour before the multi colour so that some of the red and blue colour dont smudge onto the multi colour then she/he said try to make it more accurate.

      If you ever did a do-over, perhaps you could include the Lyra blender too as this has top marks in some of the reviews. I'm not sure though that expecting a blender to do such a major job of blending that dark blue with red was a completely fair test - I don't think they are designed to be that hard working. All the other tests I've seen do most of the blending work first with gentle feathering and layering the colours, then use the blender to give the final magic.

    The Derwent blender seems more grittier. Is it abrasive to the tooth of the paper or leaving a better tooth for more layers? I’ve been using Prisma because it seems less aggressive. Thoughts?

    • @DKdesign
      @DKdesign  2 года назад +4

      Hi Valerie :) Yes, Derwent blender is more on the dry side and that's why it seems to be more grittier. My favorite way to blend color pencils is to use colorless alkohol based marker with brush nib. This trick will do exactly what wax based blenders can't- you will be able to add more layers on top because some parts of that wax will be desolved ;) With color pencils blenders you are just adding more wax on top of wax that is already on the paper so you are risking of paper damage or filling paper tooth too fast :) I hope I helped.
