How do you define and excuse? I had a suspected cardiac condition and therefore had to stop playing basketball. To the outside, the weight gain and apathy made me appear lazy because I did not want to put my medical problems out there. Sometimes an 'excuse' is a valid reason not to do something.

@@mediacenterman8583 Its all within reason my man/woman. Those people would never look at a cardiac condition as an excuse in your scenario, reasonable people would say "cardiac condition, I wouldn't be playing either!". I think OPs point is that nobody should feel victims of their circumstance, "excuses" definitely have their validity, if a hike isn't in the cards for your heart, then that is off the table. But don't let the feeling of being a victim of a cardiac condition to effect your relationship with mom, dad, daughter, son, girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, husband or general life outlook. This is a great perspective that cpuld also mirror/explains why Tate does not believe in depression in a way the term is being abused, misconstrued, and manipulated to one's advantage or comfort zone.
One could disregard the reality and sit in a comfy zone while labelling oneself as incapable/depressed, and answers to no one. But 10yrs, 20yrs, 30yrs down the road, one has to answer to one's own biological self.

Pain is a valuable asset if viewed in a way that propels you in a direction that is in the better interest of all parties concerned. Wallowing is never an ingredient to success and for many becomes a crutch that will limit opportunities and options. Your options are only limited by your perceptions. Roll through the pain and rocket towards the success that every one can grasp.

He wasn't willing to change, his life ended and his daughter was devastated. Those things right there can be major motivators to get viewers to turn their lives around because you're gonna be screwed if you don't! It's the gut-punch, the bucket of ice water in the face. THAT'S the major takeaway from that ending.

Hardest things I dealt with in 2022 and partially still continuing in 2023:
1: Adjusting to being a 1st time mom. Particularly learning to truly put someone else before myself and that the child trumps my wants and even my needs at times. I lived a pretty selfish life before I had a baby so it has been a big adjustment.
    2. Having to prioritize important things over "relaxing" by watching mindless entertainment. For example if my baby is napping for 2 hours should I scroll through Instagram the whole time? Or should I clean up the house, go through my e-mails, exercise or do some other productive task?
    3. Restarting our lives in another country. A few curve balls were thrown at us in this international move. Now we're trying to figure out how to stabilize our careers and finances over here.
Objectively nothing on my list of 3 was that difficult if you compare it to the story in the video. Of course the worse thing that's ever happened to you is the worst thing that's ever happened to you. However, it is important to step back sometimes to gain some perspective and gratitude. The graphic was very useful. I think I'm definitely at the acceptance stage. And for some of these issues at the reason stage. I hope to resolve these issues and reach my goals this year!

Mickey Rourke won an Oscar for his portrayal of a aging, washed up wrestling showman who tries to repair his life and his relationship with his daughter, but ultimately relapses back into the solemn lifestyle that he was trying move away from. The ending is very similar, sad and leaving you feeling empty. If one can identify themselves with these characters, it will make you think about what you can do with your own life so that you don’t end up like them. It’s still a great movie.

I haven’t seen the movie but that movie sounds like what happened to my father when he died in 2018. He died to liver failure since he was a heavy drinker. I love my dad and loved him a lot while he was here. I needed to get therapy to cope with the fact that I felt he gave up on his family and kids. Unfortunately he must’ve had demons that he just didn’t know how to defeat. And I miss and love him, yet, I am inspired by it. Because I choose to not be that father. I have been sober, I stopped drinking, I’m getting healthy, I’m choosing better relationships, I have a strong connection with my son, I’m present in his life and because I know what effect my dad dying at 44 years old had on me, so I made the choice to be the best example possible for my son. So I guess I learned “what not to do” from my father. He was a weak man that didn’t know how to defeat his demons. That won’t be me. So maybe this movie will inspire people to do the opposite.

Apologizing in advance Pat, pretty sure no matter what happens down the road within a couple years, I'll be too busy to follow you and may lose touch, thanks so much for everything you've taught me!
You have no idea how guilty I feel for having never paid for a dime of your efforts :/ Keep putting out that killer apparel, one of these days when I get more on my feet here soon I'll be placing an order so I have something to remember you by!

Inspiring..... I struggle between feeling lazy and working within my limitations because of mental health issues and physical health issues (non of my own making) and it's HARD when there's no medical help available these days for what I deal with, but I know that there will be a better day and for me it's the fight to just not give up on life. But still good stuff to dwell on, thx.

I struggle with chronic pain and physical limits after a bad car crash so I can relate. I’m quite lucky to be alive and I try to remember that when the pain gets bad.
My limitations allow me to do a lot, but I have to pace myself. I take more breaks than work time. I’ll work half an hour, rest half an hour, which inevitably turns into an hour. It’s so hard to get up every damn time!
I haven’t worked in 23 years. My husband supports our family. There’s no pressure for me to do anything. Which is the problem. I know I have to push myself to be as active as possible. Use it or lose it. The decline sets in so quickly!
I find that I’m my worst critic - maybe my only critic. My family, close friends, they say things like; You do too much, You’re so brave. My adult son has said I inspire him. To be clear, I do not do a lot. I am not brave, just muddling through.
If I did nothing for three days, which absolutely has happened, my family accepts it. I’m having too much pain. There’s no criticism at all.
Whether I’m in too much pain to work is irrelevant to my point. I’m my only critic so it’s difficult to shut me up is my point.
It is a fight to “not give up” as you said and just stay in bed. So how do you motivate yourself to keep going? I would definitely say I’m lazy; limitations have developed into laziness over two decades.
Maybe you might have some advice for me. Our situations seem similar. Why do you think PBD is saying “good stuff to dwell on”? I hear nothing in this particular video that helps our situation. What did you hear that I missed?
If nothing else, I hope you can take a bit of solace knowing you’re not alone in your struggles. I will continue to fight the demon called lazy. I’ll continue to thank God for the many blessings in my life. I hope you can do the same!

One person's laziness is another person simply taking an alternative perspective. I exercised as if my life depended on it; Consequently, my body broke down. I also nearly died [equipment failure] by doing exercise . My Father was 'lazy' as hell in relation to physical fitness, but he did not have the physical problems that I now have. Sometimes, its good to be lazy.

    • @aravsingh24
      @aravsingh24 Год назад +1

@@mediacenterman8583 very silly argument- the answer isn't laziness, its to change your approach to exercise - our bodies were made for movement - your father might not have the problems you have but that isnt to say that his lack of physical movement won't cause him other dire issues.

It really comes down to the fact that he loved food more than his own daughter. Undisciplined people think and believe they are helpless in their situation, when in reality, they are the only ones in control of it.

"Create opportunities where you're being held accountable..." This is something I used to FORCE myself to do often, where I'd tell myself that the more ppl I tell I am going to do X,Y,Z the more people I will let down if I don't do it. Definitely a very solid tactic at forcing action and very happy you just reminded me of it!
And I most certainly believe laziness is something you create/choose to do. No one's environment should be an excuse, pretty much for anything for that matter. Especially love that funnel graph! Solid video PBD, thank you!👊

What some people perceive as laziness can really be just a person's contentedness. It can also be depression as well, and I would say that is the case more often than not. Breaking that state of mind as well requires a spark or reminder of one's purpose, and relearning thankfulness and gratitude.
