How do you define and excuse? I had a suspected cardiac condition and therefore had to stop playing basketball. To the outside, the weight gain and apathy made me appear lazy because I did not want to put my medical problems out there. Sometimes an 'excuse' is a valid reason not to do something.

    • @AK-hn5gq

@@mediacenterman8583 Its all within reason my man/woman. Those people would never look at a cardiac condition as an excuse in your scenario, reasonable people would say "cardiac condition, I wouldn't be playing either!". I think OPs point is that nobody should feel victims of their circumstance, "excuses" definitely have their validity, if a hike isn't in the cards for your heart, then that is off the table. But don't let the feeling of being a victim of a cardiac condition to effect your relationship with mom, dad, daughter, son, girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, husband or general life outlook. You're valued and have a place in this world.

Was homeless 8 years ago. Today, I live where I want, do what I want when I want. I love myself and accept the many pains that I experience every single hour of the day. Yet, I am a self sustaining individual that loves the fact that with only being able to actually work for 3 to 4 hours a day, I do more and earn more than many people with a head full of a self pity party. This is a great perspective that cpuld also mirror/explains why Tate does not believe in depression in a way the term is being abused, misconstrued, and manipulated to one's advantage or comfort zone.
One could disregard the reality and sit in a comfy zone while labelling oneself as incapable/depressed, and answers to no one. But 10yrs, 20yrs, 30yrs down the road, one has to answer to one's own biological self.

I haven’t seen the movie but that movie sounds like what happened to my father when he died in 2018. He died to liver failure since he was a heavy drinker. I love my dad and loved him a lot while he was here. I needed to get therapy to cope with the fact that I felt he gave up on his family and kids. Unfortunately he must’ve had demons that he just didn’t know how to defeat. And I miss and love him, yet, I am inspired by it. Because I choose to not be that father. I have been sober, I stopped drinking, I’m getting healthy, I’m choosing better relationships, I have a strong connection with my son, I’m present in his life and because I know what effect my dad dying at 44 years old had on me, so I made the choice to be the best example possible for my son. So I guess I learned “what not to do” from my father. He was a weak man that didn’t know how to defeat his demons. That won’t be me. So maybe this movie will inspire people to do the opposite.

You will stay where you are until the pain of staying is greater than the pain of moving on. Pain is a valuable asset if viewed in a way that propels you in a direction that is in the better interest of all parties concerned. Wallowing is never an ingredient to success and for many becomes a crutch that will limit opportunities and options. Your options are only limited by your perceptions. Roll through the pain and rocket towards the success that every one can grasp.

Mickey Rourke won an Oscar for his portrayal of a aging, washed up wrestling showman who tries to repair his life and his relationship with his daughter, but ultimately relapses back into the solemn lifestyle that he was trying move away from. The ending is very similar, sad and leaving you feeling empty. If one can identify themselves with these characters, it will make you think about what you can do with your own life so that you don’t end up like them. It’s still a great movie.

It's perfect that The Whale DOESN'T have a storybook ending, a nice happy outcome where he drops the weight and walks off into the sunset with his reconciled daughter. That's the point! He wasn't willing to change, his life ended and his daughter was devastated. Those things right there can be major motivators to get viewers to turn their lives around because you're gonna be screwed if you don't! It's the gut-punch, the bucket of ice water in the face. THAT'S the major takeaway from that ending.

Hardest things I dealt with in 2022 and partially still continuing in 2023:
1: Adjusting to being a 1st time mom. Particularly learning to truly put someone else before myself and that the child trumps my wants and even my needs at times. I lived a pretty selfish life before I had a baby so it has been a big adjustment.
    2. Having to prioritize important things over "relaxing" by watching mindless entertainment. For example if my baby is napping for 2 hours should I scroll through Instagram the whole time? Or should I clean up the house, go through my e-mails, exercise or do some other productive task?
    3. Restarting our lives in another country. A few curve balls were thrown at us in this international move. Now we're trying to figure out how to stabilize our careers and finances over here.
Objectively nothing on my list of 3 was that difficult if you compare it to the story in the video. Of course the worse thing that's ever happened to you is the worst thing that's ever happened to you. However, it is important to step back sometimes to gain some perspective and gratitude. The graphic was very useful. I think I'm definitely at the acceptance stage. And for some of these issues at the reason stage. I hope to resolve these issues and reach my goals this year!

Definitely a very solid tactic at forcing action and very happy you just reminded me of it!
And I most certainly believe laziness is something you create/choose to do. No one's environment should be an excuse, pretty much for anything for that matter. Especially love that funnel graph! Solid video PBD, thank you!👊

I need a friend to talk to me like this man. My biggest fear is being on my deathbed feeling regret. And I’m on that path for sure. This video isn’t going to turn a key to make me change but definitely gives me something to think about. Appreciate you sir.

“This video isn’t going to turn a key to make me change…” - So much content only for you to not fix up. You’re still on that path on your death bed, and clearly you don’t fear it enough. Behind every successful man on this Earth, is a unique source of motivation and drive to not give up and work.

@@AccountHolder007 You are right. I don't fear it enough. I say that that's my biggest fear all the time, yet I don't act. That makes me a hypocrite. Fear is a powerful thing that I don't know how to overcome. Thank you for the words.

I believe it's a story that shows what you give up when you refuse to change something within your control. It doesn't show the how, it shows the why.

Yeah. I loved the acting in this movie. It was incredible. But, I remember telling me brother “this movie sucks”. “I hate how this… I hate how that…”
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one. Haha. Also, I’m a personal trainer, so it was extremely annoying to see some of the scenes.

I like that chart, man. There is a lot of complexity to ambition and motivation. Some scientists even say that gut bacteria and overall health affect the mind for motivation.

I have literally seen laziness kill 2 people I loved. Your comfort zone is the most deadly zone you can live in. Being lazy and sitting around is really just rotting away.

I don't think the movie was meant to be a redemption story of him triumphing over his demons. I think it's a love story between a father and his daughter. While simultaneously a tragedy. It's relatable because most if not all of it can relate to a loved one who has let us down. Even though he died and failed himself dosent mean he loves his daughter any less. It also reminds us that someone who is flawed and may hurt us doesn't mean their love is any less genuine. She received her blessing in the end, but to do so, she had to forgive and come to peace with whom her father is both good and bad.

Thanks for calling a spade a spade, appreciate the bluntness! I go from one extreme to the other constantly, all and then nothing, hoping another year of focus gets me on a more level steady consistent path.
Apologizing in advance Pat, pretty sure no matter what happens down the road within a couple years, I'll be too busy to follow you and may lose touch, thanks so much for everything you've taught me!
You have no idea how guilty I feel for having never paid for a dime of your efforts :/ Keep putting out that killer apparel, one of these days when I get more on my feet here soon I'll be placing an order so I have something to remember you by!

But those characteristics on the chart gave me a tool to evaluate myself... WHAT A RED-LETTER DAY FOR ME...and what a GOD BLESSED DAY FOR YOU ! So happy I subscribed...You helped another human being today, Friend...💋
