This man understood the power of words early on.
He realised how much words can affect us even if we ourselves don't believe it. He has managed to live his life by keeping his mind clear of negativity by not letting certain words get into his head and therefore letting his mind stay clear of relating to these negative words.

Then one day after thinking to myself I realized its not fair for me to judge those who seemed to be well off and had it easy or had all the nice things, I don't know what they went through to have those things or be in those positions. That was the 1st time I was truly free and slowly started getting building my self up. I slipped backwards a few times but I always took two steps more than I lost. Because exactly as you said about your father I didn’t want to hear it and wanted to treat people as individuals. That thought process still serves me until today. I think I speak for everyone here when I say ,thank you for an insightful reminder that we are stronger than we think.🥰.

Truthfully I don’t always agree with what you say in your videos but this one popped up in a weird time of my life. I was shot in the leg by a stray bullet on 7/31/22 in downtown Orlando I was one of seven shot. I’m thankful I’m alive and my leg has recovered. But my mental state has been very bad, I felt like a victim, I missed time at work, and when I returned it’s been an uphill battle (I work in sales) but this video is spot on. I won’t talk down to my self, call myself an idiot, or say that I’m useless anymore. I’ll take care of myself and I will implement this and protect my spirit and become an elite version of myself. The only way is up from here.

    I agree in part.
You've laid out an excellent argument as to why you shouldn't say certain words or phrases. I think I'm going to start doing this myself.
However, when I hear you saying that "I don't want to hear that" that's something I don't want to say. I want to be strong enough that I can hear whatever anyone says and can overpower, perhaps even persuade them of the opposite belief.
There are things that I will not say, but there is nothing that I will exclude myself from hearing. I find it more important to discover truth I didn't know from other people than it is to be misled with their lies. If I'm mislead, then at least I can take responsibility for that. However, if I shut someone down and discouraged them from speaking not only would I not benefit, but everyone else around me--if for no other reason than for an opportunity to prove what they say to be untrue.
I am completely and utterly opposed to any kind of censorship for any reason because censorship is only needed by people who do not aim to align themselves 100% to the truth.

This is one of the most powerful, life-changing videos I've seen on the internet. I've always chosen to be positive in my life but this really adds some power and emotional "why" to it. The part about refusing to be a victim should be seen by a lot of people. Being a victim is a choice in how you react to life's events. Too many people in our society are walking around looking for reasons to be offended or feel victimized.

Pat - you are speaking timeless, biblical wisdom. In fact, most of what you say fits into this category. For example -
    Proverbs 18:4
“A person’s words can be life giving water; words of true wisdom are as refreshing as a bubbling brook”
    Proverbs 18:20
“Wise speech is rarer and more valuable than gold and rubies”
    Proverbs 18:20
“Words satisfy the souls as much as food satisfies the stomach; the right words on a person’s lips bring satisfaction”
    Proverbs 18:21
“Death and life is in the power of the tongue
And those who love it, will enjoy its fruits”
    Mathew 12:37
“For by your words you will be justified
And by your words, you will be condemned”
Patrick - excellent and insightful as always.

Very true - your mother must be exhausted. Before I had a child, I would NEVER use those words. I would train twice a day, compete in sport, work, train in gym daily, study and learn new things, and work on my own business at home. Once I had a child who never slept for more then 1 hour in the first year, and up to 3 hours in the second year (she still wakes up every night a few times and she is 2.5 yo), I put her to bed and work until 3-4am in the morning. I am too exhausted to get up in the morning at 8:30am, and feel like a bad role model - even though I'm not lazy. This is a good reminder to never use those words to my child regardless of what I feel.

I did something wrong- can’t even recall what it was- I said to my dad “I’m sorry, but you’re not perfect either” his response was “I’m damn close”. Through the years I’ve realized that none of us are damn close. We all fall short and should humble ourselves when appropriate. This is crazy. Just the other day I realized I never say that I’m Tired, Exhausted, Burned Out, Drained…I workout all the time, still go to work, take care of the family, sleep very little hours, do it all again because I love moving…but although I feel like those words, I never say them. Now for me, the reason I never say them out loud is because once it escapes my mouth, I have them told the world what I feel, and therefore must act on that. But if I never share that, the world still thinks I got energy. And damn it. I do. I do still have energy. And words I use all the time are words like Fired Up, Pumped, Energized, Amped, etc. I always use words that empower me, rather than help me “settle for less”.
So after watching this, I’m going to focus on it more, make a list, and find some new words to take away and replace.

On the flip side thanks for the inspo to be confident. I told you a few days ago about a job interview. It was today and I felt really good about everything I saw and heard. They offered me the job! Positive change and momentum! I’m going for it!

@@arno7163 you missed the words "I am a sad loser who seeks advice from a narcissistic rich youtube man who spews me this great sounding bullshit that means literally nothing and also doesnt give a shit about me or my success"

@@xd-gm1mq Projecting much? Kinda pointless to go around self help video's insulting people. Besides looking at your channel you're mostly young, maybe you can try things and actually see if there's a difference. If not, move on.

@@arno7163 I just dont really understand how using specific words instead of others just WORDS not talking about what your thoughts are or how you live your life will make you from a succesful business man to a heroin shooting junkie in 3 months. I think its quite manipulative to make such huge comparisons when in reality that would never happen and also to never really properly explain how it works and instead just shout stuff at you. I also think it can be very harmful to you if you are for example getting 4hrs a sleep every night and keep thinking "NO dont use the word tired I am not tired!" And then in result end up in a huge burnout. Sorry came off a bit rude but mostly because I was pissed at this dude and others like him because I truly dont get his point. Care to elaborate me?

@@xd-gm1mq Apology accepted, but yeah I can see where your point of view is.
I think its a type of self-fulfilling prophecy or 'fake it til you make' thing, where if you use negative words when talking people associate you as a negative person and less likely or don't want to talk to you which makes things worse.
Whereas saying being positive or comforting make people like you a it more. It can have an effect on your mind, for another example if you have depression and most off the time you have that feeling of depression its just going to make things worse in your head.
It might make a small difference but small amounts could change a lot. Also words and how you say them is quite important. For example in a dance studio while giving advice, I got a bad reception/reaction when I pointed out what was wrong, what to improve and then said what I liked.
But I changed it up to use the 'sandwich technique' where I give positive remarks followed by what was wrong, what to improve and finished with more positive notes. The reception I get to my critics was much better
So I guess try this method, see if there's a difference and if its good continue or stop i not

Sir, you've become an inspiration for me today. I've been complacent of letting my mouth run wild for far too long. Self-depricating and being ungreatful to myself for the level of success that I've achieved. I've driven myself on a mindset of "impostor syndrome" as an excuse that something's just wrong with me, as if that is normal. Thank you for reminding me, that even God in the bible warns us of what words we speak with our tongues towards ourselves and to others. I feel like I can move on and start maturing this part of me. Thank you for this video!

Saying "I don't want to do this" are weak words, powerful words are "I'm not doing this".

Even stronger is when you say "I am" instead of "I'm" because it puts even more emphasis on it. And the reason what you said works is because now it's about our identitiy, what and who we are.
