  • What a joy to pick up an old classic Jeep and bring her back to life in one day! This is a true testament to the ruggedness of these old Jeeps. Watch as we go from a water flooded transmission to a high speed machine in a few hours! #jeep #automobile #jeeprestoration #jeepcj #restoration

I had a 76 with a 304 in it. Had it all the way down to a rolling chassis. Was a great Jeep but I sent it to a new home, the V8 made lovely noises and it took me down lots of off pavement roads. Wound up getting a 47ish CJ2A and did the same with it but I still have it.

Your points demonstration was top tier. I haven’t seen that since the early 90s. Pops taught me to check there for spark and how important it was to keep them free of corrosion.

Thanks so much for sharing! That is special to say you have owned the same vehicle for 50 years! It is yours as long as it needs to be!
I have a ‘67 F100 my grandfather gave me when I was 4 years old. I’m now 51 and I intend for that truck to be with me for the remainder of my days. 😁😁

    I have a 1976 CJ5 and I have had it since 1980. Best $2000 dollars I ever spent. I'm from Louisville Ms.

I’m glad to hear it! At this point you need to keep it for the “long haul!” My grandfather, Auzie Sullivan, was a pastor in the Louisville area for a very long time. Louisville has a special place in my heart.

1500 bucks. Running and driving. Bird egg blue, in similar sorts as yours. Just a little less rust.

Those two low cylinders are probably stuck open valves, remember, it is only spring pressure closing them, and the loss of pulsing indicates you opened them, and they stuck, due to condensation? or whatever route, into the valve cover. you need to see if the valves are closing and that means pulling that valve cover. Good luck!

What size tires do you have? They look good.

Those tires/wheels are actually intended for a ‘46 Willys I’m building, but they look great on the CJ5. The 5 has completely stock suspension. The tires are 31x10.5x15. The wheels are 15x8 with 4.5” of backspacing. I may be able to fit 33’s with a slight suspension adjustment. Maybe a small shackle lift. On the other hand, you are right they do look fine. 😁
