I added an aux bus bar under my dash, wired to batt ground, to ground my interior stuff. Also ran a relay for headlights. Found out how CJ electrical worked when I burned my fingers on a loose headlight switch
Ages ago, my ‘70 CJ5 quit running on me. It took me months figuring out why it wouldn’t start. Turned out the gas gauge(that didn’t work anyway) was shorting out. Problem was that when it happened it shorted out the entire ignition system.
@@DrPronghorn for the original gauge cluster you have to find some originals that still work. I have purchased from Rudy's CJ before. The other option is a new cluster from Speedhut. They are modern servo style gauges.

I take long shouldered bolts with the same threads to use as sliders to support the dash when doing this kind of stuff. It helps most of the time.
That's a great idea! Thank you!

I should do that. The headlight switch is highly suspect

Wow! That's a frustrating failure, and good to look out for!
Where did you get those gauges?, i need it!
I just searched CJ5 gauges on Google and picked the best price!
Those aftermarket gauges are the cluster. They will fail. BTW, MTS makes a nice stainless steel bezel for the speedo.
Do you have a recommendation of good gauges for the old Jeep speedo?

@@natwolfe8961can you adjust actual mileage to match engine mileage with Speedhut conversion?
I need a temp gauge to work for my 82 CJ8.
@@micahmorrison6968 not sure. I would contact Speedhut.
Super. 👍
Thank you 👍

Thanks!
Hi,does yj dash fits cj5 dash panel?
I wish I knew. I know a lot of pieces fit across the two

Does it truly reaches 90 m/h?
I think it could, I've only gotten up to 75 mph, but it had more speed to give. I'm not sure how safe the handling woud be at 90.
