      😂😂 I was NEVER into gardening/house plants. When I moved out on my own (at 19) my mom was like, "Here you go" **hands me a huge Pothos & two Amaryllis** I was like "okayy....? Ty??" Lol surprisingly I didn't kill them💪 Decade later, my house is a friggin jungle! LOL

    I am a plant nut! I root EVERYTHING! I've picked little cuttings that needed trimming on my dog walks, and picked up broken petunia stems at the garden center and put in water. Fun and often amazing.
    Loved your tips and I have a few more:
    1. Be careful not to put Aloe in direct sun. It gets sunburned easily (move as soon as the stems change color; may come back). And I killed a huge, gorgeous jade thinking it would be nice for her to enjoy the summer outside. Bad idea!
    2.Spider. You can cut off a baby (or if a baby falls off), put its base in water (not the leaves). In a few weeks you'll have roots and a new plant. I've given away many plants that way.
    3. I have rooted assorted Pothos in water. After ample roots emerged I planted all the varieties together. So far, everyone is very happy.
    Keep the vids coming!

      Yellow leafs or browning tips.. or stunted growth theres no hard and fast rules for every plant it's different for every species but a general rule is find out if it's a winter or summer grower and always firtilize with something like fish emulsion, miracle grow dose work but plants like natural things worm castings work too but it's best to research based on the plant or genus a 10 minute Google search will give you all the info you need and ALWAYS use a well draining soil except for special cases like a peace lily or something that basically likes to drownd lol good luck! 🌿🌿🌿

    • @bobmoor8519
      @bobmoor8519 3 года назад +2

      I've read that for spider plants not to water too often & When you do you should put the pot in a bowl or pan so the water can't simply run through. You then let them sit a couple minutes to let the roots absorb some water & Then let as much drain out as wants to. I'm worried about over watering mine. My plant looked great & never seemed happy after watering but the soil seemed pretty dry. (I'm concerned it never gets enough light when it's not sunny all day)

    I've heard spider plants tolerate low light well & ideally like 12 hours of bright indirect light. (not sun shining straight full on them, but more beside a window that has that light) I got one 2 weeks ago that has several shoots with dozens of tiny pups so I'm eager to learn right away to keep the mother happy & propogate these nice babies. NASA research for air cleaning & oxygen producing lists these in their top 10.

    I got a spider plant for free that wasn't going very well and it was quite small,
    I decided to take it home,i simply put it next to a window and watered it regularly and it grew so well it's amazing it's about the same size as the one in the video

    I'm a beginner plant guy and I realized I have 90% of these before even watching the video. I guess I picked right! I love taking care of my plants and I can't wait until they're bbig enough to propagate and give to my friends :-)

    Schefflera are also really easy to care for. I keep them in my chameleon's cage and they grow really well with all that light and humidity, but they're pretty hardy even without it.

    Good morning, Christian, The plant I would recommend is the Clover plant, ta da - (sorry, don't know the botanical name). They thrive with over-watering, in fact does best when the whole pot sits in an inch of water; likes a sunny window; leaves fold down during night and open again in daylight; produce lovely white flowers; thrives in a crowded, pot-bound container; can be divided easily to make more plants. Love your videos...hugs, Cathy

      Cathy Theisen oh Yes the Oxalis Triangularis or Shamrocks. I have a few of them. They are easy for me but can be tricky for others, because they do require different watering needs based on the season. They are lovely for sure. Glad you enjoy the videos. 😊

    A new plant parent myself! Been struggling a little to find stuff because SO MANY of these plants are toxic to pets, and my GF and I want to get a cat in the near future. I am happy to have learned that Spider Plants, as well as Peperomias and Hoyas, are not! Looking forward to growing my collection!

    Great video!!! These are good for improved air quality and sleep as well. Question. When repotting, do you have to put a bottom piece with holes below the soil? Thanks
