I remain convinced players from 20 years ago were much better than those of today on average.

no doubt most players then would be regarded world class in todays terms as the quality isnt there anymore. Back then these 2 werent even called world class there was another class above R9 etc Henry Shearer etc
The societies deal in much less value today but more skills altogether. The players are just a reflection of that!
These two legends made my childhood. Can’t believe it’s 25 years ago.

Two things stood out for me that season, that were possible signs - giggsy’s solo goal and that game against juve.
I remember them describing how they played as calypso football. A great duo, loved watching them play

These two players created a partnership that was amazing…despite the initial thoughts that they wouldn’t play together i cannot remember a forward partnership of cole and yorke. They made history and that semi final at Juve was incredible

Nobody in Europe wanted to play us back then. Cole and Ole are the natural no 9s, while Yorke and Teddy can play the forward dropping off, so even if Yorke and Coley weren't on form, the gaffer could call on our SaS, Solskjaer and Sheringham. It's crazy at that time. Imagine an opposing defender having had to deal with Coley for 70 mins of a game and he sees Cole's number come up on the substitution plaque, he'd probably said to himself, "Yeah, I can finally relax a bit now". And then he sees the baby-face assassin, Ole, come on in place of Coley. LOL......

Mid season I remember we were due to play Chelsea and Chelsea were going stop our run to the league title and Ed de Goey was supposedly the best keeper in the league. No way past him or Chelsea. Yorkey lobbed em from about 30 yards out. After that night I said this is on ! Four quality strikers up front. Cole Yorkey Solskjaer Sherringham. Manchester United was a problem for every team in Europe. Have a look at the players these guys were up against phenomenal players in Europe.

David Beckham was the reason why United won that treble. His goal against arsenal in the semi. His goal against spurs on the final day. His crosses on the corners against Bayern. He set up the 2 goals against inter Milan. So many players would have wasted those opportunities.

This interview just shows the mindset these two had at United which is missing today. They both believed that playing for United meant being the best, don't worry about them worry about us
I could sit and listen to Yorkie & Coley for days on end, their love for United, and more importantly, their Professionalism, their drive, their determination to be the best,,, and let's be honest, they wer the best.
They gave me so much joy over those years I will take those happy memories to my grave.... So much love for they guys, and so much respect 🙏 ❤️

Andy Cole was a very good strike partner. If you think about it he had a good partnership with Beardsley at Newcastle, he worked well with Cantona and then Sheringham before Yorke was signed. I think the difference was that Yorke scored more goals than the others
