i like this threat music a lot because it works so well thematically. the melody is disjointed and almost atonal as it flips around itself wildly, like it's more untamed than anywhere else you've been before. yes, rain world is filled with beings that will indeed end you should you step wrong, but in this place there's no purpose for these organisms. there's no real laws aside the laws of nature keeping you safe, and even then you have to work against the system. if all of rain world is a beach, outer expanse is international waters. so i really like that the theme reflects this lawlessness and unpredictability
You don't actually need a pearl for the toll, you can pay with spears or other items the scavengers like. Grenades, spears, just remember to put it down on the ground and not in their faces lol (IIRC, the toll price is 10 points. Pearls and king vulture masks are 10, overseer eye is 7, regular vulture masks and karma flowers are 5, spears, grenades and lanterns count as 3 each, there are more but you can look it up on the wiki. So you can pay with an eye and a spear or two masks etc etc)
Seeing that toll made me so fucking angry xD I ended up taking the long way around to bypass them by going above. It sucked. I was having such an unfun time with Gourmand's campaign.
This threat music playing constantly after entering Sunken Piers was totally worth getting Artificer scav reputation as Gourmand

I've never paid the toll either, instead I just head down the shaft above them and jump over. They never got hostile either.
I stabbed everyone there as the desperado and now the scavs hate me, but that's OK, I have arti experience >:]
