- Consider this my tribute to what has to be my absolute favorite game of all time, Rain World, and my personal favorite slugcat, the Artificer! Before Downpour, my favorite slugcat ended up being the Hunter, so it was only natural that the other red, carnivorous, bloodthirsty slugcat (with added explosives) became my new favorite...
I know, I know... over ten months since my last upload on this channel, only to come back with a music video for a song that's been on my SoundCloud for at least three months already. I've been rather busy lately with IRL things, and only just getting this month off to work on my hobbies. I plan on getting at least one more novel song done before the year ends, so don't fret! New content is coming soon! And I might throw in an Inscryption voice acting demo reel just to add some slight variety... who knows.
Anyway, hope you guys enjoy this song regardless if you heard it already or not.

I just realized I misspelled "Chieftain" wrong in the last section... -_-" Oops.
EDIT: Ayo, guess what? This has been put into a Rain World mod! You can now go through the sprawling towers of Metropolis while listening to this remix as the threat music, and it includes all three sections - day, night, and even the chieftain sections for the House of Braids boss arena! Please check it out, the person who helped with this mod (sampletestboy2) did a fantastic job with it.
There's two different versions of the mod: A "Procedural" version (faithful to the base game threat music; the layers are randomly picked from a set list as it gets more intense), and a "Consistent" version (layers are mixed down to a smaller handful and put into a predetermined list; less varied, but it'll use all of the threat layers at once at max intensity). You can choose whichever sounds the most appealing to you. ^^

I absolutely love the idea of the scavs using the ancient voiceover system for their alarm, plus I love the garbled "t-terror in the cccity" on the Chieftain part
And this further goes into the feeling I have that Metropolis' threat theme, unlike the rest, is not a threat for you. You're not the one it's meant to warn, the scavs are. It's Artificer's true theme song.
Oh forgot to mention, the use of explosion sounds in it is awesome too and further reinforces the idea that this song is meant to warn the scavs imo

Man, when i first entered metropolis and started fighting scavs, the moment i heard the breaks kick in i knew shit was getting real XD....

It would’ve been cool if there was a voiceover for the Chieftain fight, something like “WARNING. INTRUDER THREATENS OUR CITY. ATTENTION. RULER COMPROMISED. ATTACK ON SIGHT.” Or maybe something along those lines. Nevertheless, these are absolutely incredible!
i love how the music isn't meant to be a threat towards artificer like other threat music, but she IS the threat and this music is about her instead
this is amazing. The voiceovers are absolutely amazing. I like to think of it as Pebbles blasting the alarms over the PA saying "Flee the city now, death is coming".

Yknow, the voiceover didn't really land for me till I read this.
Anyhow, I choose to interpret this specifically as Pebbles making use of a premade alert system (long having gone out of use, thus the artifacting) to terrorize the scavs, and to make sure Artificer has a proper challenge.
This gives me an idea. What if Metropolis was one big gauntlet to the end? Like, you get shut out of exiting until you reach the end. The music constantly plays.
And the main difference is that sheltering doesn't reset the cycle until you kill the Scavenger King.
What if Arti was so fueled by violence and vengeance that she literally cannot sleep. Your game would still save when you shelter, but time wouldn't progress to the next cycle. That way you can properly see the nighttime.
I think that'd be a pretty neat detail.

Found a mod that replaces the normal threat music with this. Now we just need the changes with the cycle, and my ideas shall be fullfilled!

There's actually 2 versions as well. One that's layered depending on what you are fighting, and one that plays continuously.
would be cool if the shelter cutscene litterally showed artificer heavily inhaling and exhaling air in the shelter cutscen between their exit once more.
would also be cool if arti smashes open the shelter with an explosion when she "wakes" to leave the shelter early, causing it to become unusable.

ohhh this is wonderful! i find the implication of the voiceover / pa system so interesting - what could've been alive in the ancient's time that couldve gotten into the city and not been thwarted by miros birds (or vultures, who i presume wouldve been protecting the citizens during the time of the ancients)? and how is it so dangerous that they need to evacuate the city? i also like how the scavs are the citizens in this case, but arti is the one with the citizen id drone.
AND THE NIGHT THEME OHHHH MY GOD. the idea of ancient terrorists is so interesting to me!! they had so many taboos around violence and destruction, so a being a terrorist would probably have been a severe social wrongdoing as well as the violence that comes with. and arti being identified as a terrorist because of her citizen id drone and her murderous intent. god this is so good

I'm glad you like the PA System concept so much! Given how advanced the Ancients were in their technology, I felt like it'd be something pretty viable in their time - and it'd be like the last voice you'd ever be able to hear of whom previously occupied Metropolis. Although, I don't think I ever thought about the implications you just brought up about it... I really like all those points. ^_^

It could be that any Ancient suffering a violent psychotic episode or just wanting to kill/destroy in general could have been considered a terrorist. Even with their supposed prosperity and peace, there's no way there were no violent or hateful outliers, especially not with how many Ancients were wanting to jump into the Void just to escape the cycle of Karmic Reincarnation.

A nice attention to announcer quotes too! During the day It references an attack of Apex Predator, which is either whatever Artificer is dealing with, or Artificer herself
And during the night time It references a tеrrоrist attack, and who can make things explode? Artificer and Scavengers!

By far best remix I've heard of this threat theme
This. Is. Awesome! I love how much personality it has, and I've always loved how Metro's threat feeling like you are in some sort of gauntlet, but this remix turns that up to 11! The alert system is such a unique touch as well! Almost reminds me of Moon's rain sirens but they have a voice-over instead of just a blaring noise! Super awesome, and the Chieftain fight should have totally had it's own threat theme!
i really like how unintentionally double-sided the announcements are, they could be easily be thought of as as the scavengers in arti's mind (unruly intruders of the city that are of the same creatures that killed her children so they deserve a reason to fear her), or the other way around for how the scavengers see arti (an explosive red terror killing their numbers rapidly for assumably zero reason and without remorse)

It's very fitting for the Region it plays in, as well. Artificer is basically the Doomguy of Slugcats, and the Scavangers stop at nothing to hunt and kill her, and there are a LOT of them in Metropolis...

@@NeclirGo It's okay. The lore of Rainworld is crazy deep, and it only got deeper when Downpour was released. Artificer is essentially a Slugcat out for revenge against the Scavangers because their chieftain killed her slug pups when one of them took an orb from him without knowing. She's got a lot more mobility than other Slugcats and the ability to create bombs and bomb spears. Her whole campaign is killing and eating Scavangers while trying to get to the Chieftain for a final showdown. However, it's also one of the hardest campaigns in the game as there's a higher amount of scavs in each region and they attack Artificer on sight compared to other campaigns. It's literally kill or be killed.
the ancients must have a really good taste in music if they literally make the warning a part of the alarm.
Damn this is wonderful. Really. Takes my favorite theme from RW:DP up to a whole new level. Gotta say though, the alarm samples you used are stellar. Would love to hear those isolated!

An apex predator - I had been thinking similarly of Artificer for a while now. If nothing else playing her definitely does feel like playing a predator.

I play rain world with a bloodlust, but scavvies are spared! :) Even as artificer (post ending because I need to not die) I will still kill them if they raise a spear to me though. Idk why, but they still sometimes stab you. Must not have gotten the memo.
The only thing this is missing is the percussion beats from the threat theme that sound like bombs going off.

I'll see if I can - no guarantees though since I remember that, after I exported the full song and tried to make the looped versions, the song getting scuffed in ways that are just... beyond me. If it sounds alright, I'll reply here again saying if I've updated the Drive folder.

I got a project related to this remix coming out fairly soon, so after I release that, I can probably make versions of the remixes with all vocals removed for the Google drive folder (and probably replace the pre-existing looped versions of the song with less scuffed ones).

Sorry for responding late - I could try making a version without the voices. No guarantees on doing it though since I remember certain parts of the song got scuffed after I exported it in full (hence why some parts of the looped versions are scuffed). If it isn't scuffed, I'll reply back here on if I've added them to the Drive folder.

Whatever vocals I don't have subtitled in the video are meant to be unintelligible, either through glitch distortions, or just because it's meant to act as background foley and nothing else. The former is true for the Metro-Night section (like around 4:54), as it's just the previous night remix lyrics, but distorted and jumbled. The latter is true for the Chieftan section, as most of that is just nonsense chanting I made in one take, lol.
