🪛 Icon Ratcheting Screwdriver Kit (RXFT-35)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 3 апр 2022
- This Ratchet set from Harbor Freight in their ICON brand is really well thought out and includes most of the bits someone would need to take care of business. Based on the reviews of others it seems that the quality/durability on this is legit. Hard to beat for $40 (purchased at local store)

Just an FYI this tool is made by a company in Taiwan called Hi-five.
They make all the bit ratchets marked " reverse gear " on the thumb wheel, and they're a proven well respected high quality tool.
There are far far too many versions to list / count between the fixed and flex head options, but the flex head like this ( everybody has a different if only subtlety different handle ) is available from MAC, BLACKHAWK, FACOM, USAG,TOPTUL, VIM, DEEN, KS TOOL, and WURTH.
The Icon is about the easiest most affordable way to get the locking flex head, and probably the only version you'll find at any retail location in the US.
Really good info! Pinned!
@@maxlvledc
Btw by most affordable I mean 50% less in some cases, just the ratchet is $60 from MAC and the FACOM set can be $80+.
Probably worth a little more if you want to trade some of the bits for a few sockets, but not double.
thanks for the heads up. I'm always looking handy, space saving tools. I usually only buy VERY simple items at harbor freight, ie: Moving blankets, Ammo cans, etc. But if Icon is made in Taiwan, and perhaps a bit upscale, I'll probably give it a go. Thanks
So glad you saw my comment, and maybe others as well, and went ahead and picked this up. You will not be disappointed with the functionality and usefulness on this mini ratchet/ bit driver. This is easily the best review on the internet (that I've seen) over this. Keep up the awesome work!
I picked one of these up as soon as I saw them a few weeks ago, and I'm definitely impressed. A lot of versatility in a small package for a great price point.
I’ve carried one in my bag for about 8 months and it’s one of my favorite tool kits to pull out and use lol. I love this set! I wish icon could make another same size case that had some sockets in it to pair with the set
I didn’t know I needed this until now
Saw your Harbor EDC video and went and picked up the knife, the screwdriver and couldn’t find this set but went back today and found it. Slick little kit.
FINALLY caught this kit in stock at my local HFT!
Very well made toolset, this is a great buy!
Lucky guy!
That is some great functionality. Several drive configurations make this special. I own several Wiha bit sets including the mini ratchet set in a metal case Its not a flex head and works well but icon knocked it out of the park with this design
This with a 1/4 set of sockets would be perfect.
I got one for work and I'm very happy with it. I'm probably going to buy one for my home tool bag .
Thanks to your review I will be purchasing this set
I have similar toptul set with ~10 metric sockets for some time now. I paid around 50 freedom eagles :) for it 3+ years ago.
And i really like it
I added stubby bit driver/palm rachet (if you put in on rachet in T handle configuration you can put a lot of pressure and torque on screw) and small knipex pliers wrench and its my go to set for small stuff.
I jak nadal śmigaj? Dziś zamówiłem identyczny zestaw toptula
An excellent addition to my mountain bicycle kit. Cowabunga mate.!
I bought one of these yesterday & I really like it & of course I had to have to have the sockets standard & metric & that brought it over 100 $
Nice video, thanks for posting this! The only suggestions I have are, having bit markings on the bit casings, knurling on the ratchet and extension and if it was made in the USA it would be a game changer for me. The lifetime warranty, angling ratchet and magnet features is super though. Harbor Freight is definitely uping their game on the Icon tools.
I use my Icon set, daily for work game changer for me. Just have to watch out for retaining clasp it is the weak link, however the warranty did save me this time.
I got the set for $35 at Harbor Freight and not bad overall. If you use it as a kit it works nice with the bits but keep in mind if you have a nice compact 1/4 ratchet like Gearwrench 120xp with locking flexhead you get a much better tool with 120 tooth fine ratchet and 9" length and if you add a bit adaptor you can use any bit you want however it does not break in to 2 parts and fit in a nice pocket size case with bits so yeah if you want to carry a compact flex head ratchet with you the ICON is unbeatable but if you plan to have it in a car or at work/home I would go with a nice Gearwrench 1/4" flexhead 9" ratchet and get just a cheap bit 1/4 adaptor and save the $.
As you noted, this is too small to be a pocket carry; but I'm going to build a tactical style EDC pouch and this will be the centerpiece. I plan to augment with some small screwdrivers, some small Knipex cobra pliers and plier wrenches, and a very few sockets to have a lot of capability in a very compact space.
Any update on your kit???
This is a brutal copy/rebranding of the Facom R.180J31 ! I have that set for years and love it to bits.
I pinned a post that indicates that the Taiwan manufacturer rebrands it to multiple places. The good part is that Icon also offers the warranty.
Icon warranty is actually damn good too. I didn't realize this until I warrantied since flush cut pliers. They take the tool no questions asked and hand a new one to you with no paperwork needed
If you want this ratchet + extension feature set w/o the flexing head, check out the Prestacycle bit ratchet. Picked one up recently and am very pleased with it.
I've heard good things!
And if you want the most compact version of these HI-FIVE bit ratchets you can get the GM Power Torque from orileys for $14, and it comes in a very compact pocketable case.
It's small enough that they actually expect you to use the thing as a keychain.
@@TylerSnyder305 Tyler out here doing the lords work. Bless you sir
Update: I could not find it on the oreilleys site so I’m taking my blessing back.
@@KillSwitch80 gm4315, but it's gone up to $18.99.
I have the wera kit but still got the icon. Wera is awesome but the icon is much more compact.
Not pocketable, but looks great for a small home/vehicle tool bag.
Just going by the looks, I think I'd prefer this Icon kit over the other kits you showed in this video. Just for the fact it's inside an enclosed case with a nice layout.
Thanks for letting us know about this. I think I'll be adding this to my little wishlist.
It’s pocketable if you don’t wear skinny jeans hahaha
@@WandomZhiEt lol
It's very pocketable, maybe a tad on the weighty side, but size wise it fits great in the pants I have on.
Is that an Icon mini ratchet set in your pants, or are you just happy to see me?
Contacted Harbor Freight concerning this kit. I recieved an email back saying they don't know when it back in stock or if it will ever be. I found one on ebay which I over paid for but I got it.
To my knowledge, all wrenches / ratchets marked:
reverse gear are made by Hi-Five
gearwrench are made by Danaher
geartech are made by Infar
Brilliant. No idea how I've missed this at HF
Hard to find that's why. Only a few have them in stock
@@mrwendell4564 I found it at my local one and it's been a killer multi-use tool. It goes with me to work daily, and lives on my desk at home otherwise!
Likewise man. It goes to work with me in my tool bag and goes home in the same tool bag lol. I live in socal and I had to go to 30 miles out to get mine. It was the 4th closest store to me lol
Those fixitsticks have changed. Ordered some security hex bits for it.
Changed in what way?
Looking to minimize the current mini-garage I carry on motorcycle trips. My local HF has them in stock. I may grab one in the morning
Just picked up this awesome kit from HF with their 20% off ICON product coupon. So it's $40 - 20% + tax. Real quality stuff compared to the $8 kit I got on AMZ.
Nice gotta check out for sure
On the bottom right those bits are supadrive, compatible only with PZ pozidrive, NOT with PH Philips.
Ty! Was not 100% sure.
The other set of "Phillips" bits are PoziDrive (FWIW).
Thanks! I was at a loss 😅
thx for the video!
I gotta have it!!
I bought this today, it's absolutely adorable how tiny the set is. But in all seriousness, how is this from Harbor Freight? In the past, 2 times when I was in a pinch I bought Pittsburg ratchet sets from there. And they might as well have been labeled for single use lol. This just feels too good to be HF. Even the case is about 10 steps up from the junk they give you with the Pittsburg sets.
After using it once I want to go back and check out the rest of the Icon stuff.
All the icon items are made in Taiwan..much much higher quality..it's like a well kept secret
Hello, what are the exact dimensions of the ICON box (without the retail packaging, of course, haha)? I cannot find such data on the HF product page. Thank you!
4 3/4 * 2 1/4 * 1 3/8 " approximately
@@maxlvledc Thank you for the measurement! Now i am buying one too haha (seriously)
What was the first smaller kit you grabbed to check inter compatibility? Not the fit it sticks.
Timestamp?
@@maxlvledc 5:30
@@vanquestgear it doesn't appear to be available any more. This is the new one, nearly identical to this kit.amzn.to/37Ozw1c
@@maxlvledc ah, the case looked perfect for one of my kits. But the icon is a pretty awesome option. Great vid and looking forward to more! Earned a sub from us!
@@vanquestgear thank you! Love your products. Im fact I proxied for one of your bags for a friend in the UK who reviews bags, Moorlander EDC
Who makes the ratchet with the little orange case? I’ve been going through the channel looking for that.
Time stamp?
@@maxlvledc 5:31
@@alphaartisan Looks like maybe it's the runoi bike ratchet in this video:
ruclips.net/video/MCyp-fSf2-k/видео.html
Are the Fix Sticks available at Harbor Freight?
no sadly
OK looks like I found exact same set in EU just under different brand name. KS Tools 918.3015 CLASSIC looks exactly the same.
This set or the wiha 32pc with go box for 32bucks?
I thought I stumbled upon the Lock-Picking Lawyer's other channel.
Thanks for the compliment! love that guy!
Can anyone please tell me if there is room in the case to add a couple of sockets? I like this kit but for my purposes it could also use 8mm & 10mm sockets. Thanks
Hmm, don't think so. Too tight
There is a similar one on Amazon made by RUJOI that is a little cheaper. I wonder how it would compare to the Icon set.
Probably not worth it in quality....but I've been wrong before
@@maxlvledc
It's the same tool, look at the thumb wheel marked " Reverse gear ", that means it was also made by HI-FIVE who makes this one.
The bit adapter included is not the low profile stubby adapter though, and of course you're not getting the lifetime warranty.
Branded RUJIO but it's the same tool except for cosmetic changes, made by HI-FIVE in Taiwan who makes every bit ratchet marked " Reverse gear ".
There are too many versions to count / list.
@@TylerSnyder305 The thumb wheel on the icon says "1/4 GEAR HEX".
@@CanItAlready yes HI-FIVE uses both markings, but you'll notice the same exact font.
Well there is a company called facom who is the original manufacturer of this exact same bit set but they charge over $100 for it and I'm in the mindset of why do I have to pay that much when I can go to harbor freight and pick up the exact same bit set for 40 bucks
agreed.
I have looked for this since your first video, and it has been out of stock, not available here.
Doh!
Do you think someone like me that has that wera tool kit should bother getting this set or would it be a waste in your opinion. Thanks
Don't bother Wera is much better
I tried to buy these at harbor freight where I live and they keep selling out of them
DOH!
You should check out the wera tool check it is in my opinion the best edc screwdriver set.
Wera is boss...it's just not that easy for most to justify
I want one
Thanks man
Just an FYI to anyone trying to find this in store because it's only in store... Well do I have good news for you! They are selling them on the harbor freight website. Well well well worth the purchase and even shipping price especially if you have a discount code.
I am totally Pissed with H F. No one in a reasonable distance from me ever has these in stock. Be back soon, what a joke! The employees say they never know what their going to get. I have all but given up on ever having one of these sets.
This or the Wiha Go Box?
Wiha probably...German over Taiwan every day. The Wera kit might be even better.
It would be perfect if it came with some sockets.
How many teeth is the ratchet?
No idea
It clicks 62 times with a full rotation.
Why do you enjoy spending everyone else's money? 😢
Hahahahahah 😈😈😈😈😈
@@maxlvledc Too bad they don't sell just the ratchet/extender. 😥
@@OutsideTheTargetDemographic hmm, maybe one of the other distributors does?
Copy from facom R1 pico
Perfect ? , no chance , no sockets , the Whia kit I have is much better
But its also bulky too and more thsn twice the size.....
Wera are way better
No doubt...but also more expensive
@@maxlvledc True but way cheaper than snap on. Unfortunately this shop is not in the UK. Is it sold under any other brand?I'm a modder and love small reliable tools like that
@@MrPINKFL0YD I was told it's a more stock made in Taiwan set..not sure what other brands are part of it. Someone mentioned it in comments a while back
Another harbor freight ripoff. Buy the original one that done it first. Facom
From what I can tell they are rebranded to many different brands but still made in the same factory.
