There is no LEP on this light. The throw channel is just a regular LED behind an aspheric lense but yes, you don't want to look directly at the beam reflecting off of a nearby white wall, as with most high candela lights.
Is it possible to press the side switch to see whether the M2-X is in Spotlight or Floodlight mode? The original Acebeam M2 has a physical toggle switch to go between Floodlight and Spotlight so you know which light is being used. Acebeam M1, Acebeam M2, Acebeam M2-X...
Aside from the UI quirk, is there a practical purpose to having both styles of beams in a clunky box shaped flashlight that looks awkward to hold? Obviously each have a purpose, but does anyone need to switch back and forth between the two?
I prefer the standard m2 which came out before the m2x since it has a toggle switch for selecting flood or throw so you know what you will turn on. Rest of the specs between the two are identical
Is the pocket clip good? The switch-how is the function? Access to it ok? Was hoping to see the various light levels outside at night where we would be using it!!
I think they are aiming towards self-defense design in this model. I hold the flashlight with my (weaker) left hand during combat. The placement of the clip ensures that when reaching for the flashlight with my left hand, the buttons are in an optimal position. Not perfect, but the best possible in this configuration, in my opinion. Then I need the quickest possible access to the strongest mode, preferably with the press of a single button.
Max lvl I love your content but their is so much wrong in this it really makes me question some other reviews you have done. Im a flashlight guy and its just wow. Theirs no lep in this light. You dont mention emitters or color temp just ui quirks which is relevant but ive had worse.
That UI is a deal breaker for me. If all the high output side does is blast full power they should have just added a dedicated switch for it…. Short press on, double click strobe, hold momentary. The other switch runs the LED and all problems solved.
Who is this for? Like, even if the UI Issues were fixed, why would I buy this? In what situation is this the right tool for the job? I genuinely don't know.
Nope. Not an LEP 😂. The LEP is the Terminator M1. Not this one. This entire video is absolutely useless. You should definitely do your homework before you make a video about something.
Two things, as already mentioned, 1. this is not an LEP. 2. If it was an LEP, you have no understanding of how they work, they do not produce coherent LASER light. Delete this video, make you look silly.
Not an LEP flashlight. The terminator M1 is far better because it has an LEP and the LEP has a lens able to widen or narrow the beam as needed. The question came up about why have this light? Again, the M2 is overrated…the M1 can do CQ and distance illumination. The LED can light up anything inside 75yds. The LEP can light up anything 100yds out to about 1/2 mile effectively. This makes this an excellent all around light….the M1 that is. The distinct duties between the LEP and LED covers many circumstances. I use it for any outdoor hikes, camping, road trips, etc. it doesn’t have a magnetic tailcap which would be a perfect addition to emergency/SHTF situations I wouldn’t recommend the M2 at all….the M1…absolutely.
I think you hit the nail on the head. To the masses, this light needs a UI update to act as a primary or regular EDC light. That being said, if you use the light for one of the main purposes or simply need/want a LEP, then it’s a great little light. Still would like to see a UI update regardless, but if this is utilized as a search light only, I think it’s a great pocketable option. As always, love the content and thorough reviews 🤙🏼
I won't jump to Dom's defense because I know he's a big boy and can handle some rude comments. but regardless of whether it's actually an LEP or not, the point still very much stands - this is a flawed UI on an extremely concentrated light that creates some serious eye safety issues
A comparable LEP would probably have the same (or twice the) candela but half the lumen output. E.g. Lumintop ANT Man vs ANT Man Titanium. I think Acebeam used an LED from Nitecore for the M2-X (Nitecore UHi LED).
Tim, you review enough lights to know this isn't an LEP. 😂 The Terminator M1 is the only model with the LEP module in it. The M2 is LED ONLY. Cheers mate!
@@Stevens_EDC_Reviews Yeah. I've got the original M2. I was pointing out that the LED (Nitecore UHi?) in the M2-X is similar to the performance of the original Lumintop ANT Man. But the module in the Lumintop ANT Man Titanium will throw twice as far as the M2-X.
It’s pretty simple, don’t aim it at your eye ball when you switch it on, what’s the problem here? Aim the damn thing up and switch it on. It’s not a camp light to start in moonlight. If you dry fire a shotgun do you point it to your head? No, to the safe direction. Same here. Dudes talks about none existent problem during the whole video instead of reviewing the flashlight.

How did he not notice?...
Came here to say this light has no LEP but it's already been mentioned
So why the comment?
On many flashlights its always a hassle to get through most settings. A simple slide switch could easily solve such problems imo.
This video demands a night time operation smh.
I had no idea such a thing existed and now I want one.

Acebeam M1, Acebeam M2, Acebeam M2-X...
Wait... Did i just watch a "flashlight video" without beam shots or outdoor footage.... 😐

I really don't understand why they did the m2x side switch version
You should definitely try the standard m2 as I believe it solves all you problems with the m2x

You might want to delete this video along with the light. Save the battery, it's the best part😉
Wow. This light doesn't have LEP. How do you get that wrong?
Max lvl I love your content but their is so much wrong in this it really makes me question some other reviews you have done. Im a flashlight guy and its just wow. Theirs no lep in this light. You dont mention emitters or color temp just ui quirks which is relevant but ive had worse.
Yep 😆. This needs dirty deleted and then that's all she wrote.
*there
*There's
Just a tip. I like your comment otherwise.
If they could put Anduril on this it would solve all the UI problems! (I don't think the brand uses this UI though)
That UI is a deal breaker for me. If all the high output side does is blast full power they should have just added a dedicated switch for it…. Short press on, double click strobe, hold momentary. The other switch runs the LED and all problems solved.
Thanks! No direct access to Moonlight from off due to not knowing whether you're in Spotlight or Floodlight mode on the Acebeam M2-X
Who is this for? Like, even if the UI Issues were fixed, why would I buy this? In what situation is this the right tool for the job?
I genuinely don't know.
It's for people who needs a flashlight and likes it
The UI bugs are the only thing keeping me from purchasing this thing.

Pwned.
Agreed
UI is an issue for me in law enforcement. Getting into a building to clear and blowing out my vision is no fun. I use a simple stream light for work
wow
Any Sofirn lights?
This video is not a review. It's just a comment on one limited issue. (The description describes it as a review.)
The M1 is LEP and the M2 is not.

New to your videos, excellent content. May I ask your what gear you use to set up for your first person view/ over head recording? Thanks! 👍💪
Holy snikes max went woke on us!

You probably always do but with this one, try not to point it to your eye when you switch it on.
Commenting just to comment; that LEP tech does nothing for me as far as an edc light, and I have no need for a high power spotlight.
Dang.. why ya'll so hatey?

so it's basically 2 18650 flashlights fuzed together. big deal
On acebeam site its says its lep. Im guessing they know how their flashlight is made
The Terminator M1 is the LEP model. Not the M2 which is what this is. Do better research before you try to Cap'n Save-A-Joe 🤣
Nope. That's the m1
