I think that Koloss is more geared to heavy diesel mechanics. You might think its counter intuitive to use a ratchet as a hammer, but I have seen mechanics out here in the woods using all sorts of tools as hammers, ratchets included! Wera knew what they were doing with the Koloss! 😆
Wera Ratchets FTW , ditto the Zyclops family ! Pisses me off , when I think of all the money I wasted on Snap On !
I had to write “on and off” on either side of that wera koloss. Lol but I love it. I use it in my 1/2 bag to give me a hammer and ratchet. Love it.
Bought the 1/4" Zyklop set just because I thought it would be handy to add to my tool bag, especially after watching one of your videos on it. It has been so key in many situations. With the screwdriver bits, it essentially turns into a ratcheting screwdriver, as well. Just a great tool all around.
😎
I’ve got the 8004A and the zyklops mini. Both are unbeatable for quality. I am a Wera fanboy for sure but it’s the innovation and quality that have just proved that to me time after time. Great video.
I've been tempted by the Koloss, but honestly wish they would make a 3/8" version - I'd definitely buy that.
Hmm I have 0 3/8” tools, we mostly use 1/2 and 1/4 in EU…
@@Ritcheyyy really? Interesting. I like having everything in 3/8”. I have one set that goes from 6-24mm.
Did u buy it?
The day I put a tool check plus in my bag was the day I took my stubby driver out. I’ve never found a job since where a stubby driver would be better than the mini ratchet that wera make. It has far more leverage and speed. Great tools
I watched your other video and got the Koloss and extension. A couple months after that, I got a flat on the pickup and had a chance to change a tire with it. It worked great, plenty of torque with the extension, and the soft face was good for putting the wheel cover back on. Thanks for the great videos !
Awesome! That’s great to hear 😁🔥🔧
Love how ya have a tape measure on the ready from the hip - Like Wyatt Earp of tools. Makes me wanna buy more WERA.
Got to have it! Had a dinner cruise captain one time comment on it lol. Said that was a first for him to see 🤣
… I feel like I’m reliving the golden age of RUclips knife review channels that used to be on here while watching this. Damn this was a good video, well done 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks a lot!!! 😁🔧
Ever since I saw wera's 1/2 option a few years ago I thought it was a brilliant idea as I've been using a cheap one for the past 10 years or so and hammer the metal work to a level position almost every time. I usually do that instead of using a hammer as I prefer not to take too many heavy tools to a higher elevation
Fantastic video, thanks for showing all the features , i wasnt sure on buying as they are quite expensive but bought a couple of sets based on this , glad i did great kit , well made & so well designed , i'm buying more now as i'm hooked !! worth every penny for the quality , ive subscribed now too as i love the thoughfull presentation on your channel, many thanks & a big wave & hello from GREAT BRITAIN .
Thanks a lot Dave 😁🔥🔧
Very insightful informative video love those ratchets
I got mine with the Wera Kraft form kompakt w1 I love the whole set I highly recommend it
That 1st ratchet is cool. I'll have to get one of those. I love the Snapon design flexhead ratchets. I have the Snapon and Pittsburgh tool versions of those.
I run my Klein nut drivers on a Wera Turbo ! The older I get the more I like Wera !
Love that brand! So innovative
The wera bit holder is so nice too. I use mine as a hybrid ratchet/nut driver/screwdriver in my car tool kit. I can fix about everything in capable of fixing myself on the side of the road with that kit.
That last one is going on my zombie apocalypse equipment list.
I'm just getting into the Wera Zyklop mini ratchets. Perfect timing on putting this video out now because I was just thinking about that 8004 A a few days ago. Now I definitely want one.
Your video on the Wera Joker wrenches got me to buy them. previously to start my Wera tool collection.
I keep finding myself watching your tool vids so I finally subscribed 😅
Well welcome! I’m glad you’re enjoying them 😁🔧
@@MillisConstruction you're doing a great job. Good info, and interesting stuff
One thing I never hear on people’s reviews is how much better the German tool steel is. I work out of a tool truck, and when I was early in my career I worked with a fellow with 1/4 3/8 1/2 and 3/4” chrome snap on sockets took two massive drawers in the service truck and he got a new truck in the middle of winter, and unfortunately the front compartment (where the tool box is commonly located) wasn’t sealed properly and leaked, a decent amount. Maybe 1/4” of rain in the bottom of the compartment if driving through a storm. Anyways he did what he could to get the water out and immediately got an appointment to have the truck company reseal it. Anyways just one storm and a few days in a damp compartment and his sockets took an absolute beating. Talking 4-5000 in sockets and they looked like steampunk chrome sockets. A chrome cow with rust colored spots. Impact sockets no one expects
To be weather resistant but for $800 for 13 1/2” dr sockets. my damn grandkid better not see a sign of rusting.
Anyways knipex we’re the first German bastards to start putting this “matte chrome” on their tools, and too be honest I never heard anyone even mention it as being some new super alloy, but after a few years and a couple wet winters I couldn’t help but notice how they were holding up. And of course wera has came along and picked up the Baton from knipex and began filling in the rest of the hand tool categories with this same super alloy, developed by guilt striken German engineers as a peace offering to the world. To which we say, it’s good but you still got a bit to make up for lads.
But I digress…
I love me some Wera
Always wondered what the hype was with these. You sold me.
Hopefully you like them! I like trying to explain unique tools better then they were explained to me when I researched them. Have a great weekend!!
The hype is a part of their marketing strategy. Just try real german tool manufacturers. For example Hazet, Stahlwille, Gedore. They offer MUCH smoother ratchets which are thinner and all in all the best option. Btw: Wera produces in Taiwan and Czech Republic. Too expensive for their foreign production.
Thanks Josef 😎🛠️😎🛠️😎
I really love wera stuff. I just wish the switch on the ratchets were more durable.
I’m really impressed with those tools. I’m going to have to invest in some of them once we get past this stage of starting our home construction which should be sometime in the next six months. We just applied for the mortgage today.
Awesome! I’ve been enjoying following that journey of yours 😁 hope you end up
With a great space to create in!!
Mills construction I just bought that same set boy my enjoying it
They’re mighty handy aren’t they!
I really like mine , I used to be a Snap On fan ! Wera is far more cost effective !
Tried a cheap knockoff to this wratchet but returned it and just got a nice combo set. After 4 years using my it for service work i jusy couldnt handle anything less for my personal handy tool. Will last me forever
so far I have the tool check plus rachet like you said, and the 3/8 speed rachet. I use them both daily and they make my tasks efficient and efortless. couldnt recommend these enough. I'll be looking into getting the 1/4 speed rachet next for my EDC
These make great Edc items. I’ve just enjoyed how many tools they can eliminate from a bag. Really helps with lightening a kit up
Ya all I have is a screwdriver with some bits in the handle to carry in my pocket it's a little thicker than I'd like but it's not bad I mean I replaced a like $5 screwdriver with that wera that was like $40
This for when you can't get the flywheel off with a puller and need to hammer it off lol!
It would be great if the 8000-A had a magnet inset at the end of it's anvil. That would eliminate the nut drivers in my bag. Doing HVAC and Electrical for a living dismantling and reassembling equipment upside down, on my side, or in the pouring rain is a pain when the screws can just fall out.
That is true. My normal 5/16 1/4 and I think even 3/8? Now are all the Malco flip bits that I use for most of that type work and they’re magnetic
Can also use the little Rapidaptor. Depending how big the screw is, the magnet in that is usually powerful enough to hold the screw in place through the bit.
i have some 3/8 impact sockets on one of those wera rails, rarely do i find them not attached when i fish it out of my tool bag. much better than the standard rail. im keen to try the koken version
as for rachets, cant go past my stahlwille and hazet
I just picked up the bit ratchet. I like it so far but the mechanism was really stiff. The machining and finish are superb, better than the felo mini in my opinion. The mechanical holding of the bit is stronger and can be used with stainless bits.
I understand why the 1/4 " socket adapter is so long, so you can actually remove it but i wish they had an even stubbier one.
I’m guessing you could pick up about any ratchet adapter if you found a shorter one since it accepts regular driver bit size. Just a thought. I bet someone makes one
@@MillisConstruction i didnt even know about bit drivers until recently. Finding new things every day. I will probably make one.
That giant ratchet is something else
Not sure if you ever got the answer or found it yourself, but they do have a stubbier version of the extension. The one he displayed is the long extension; the stubby is about half the length.
The chrome plating they use is one of the most understated and absolutely incredible features.
Can you unlock the Zyklop's swivel head so you don't have to hit the switch every time?
Any alternative tools like this? I want this, but the price little high for Indonesia
Hey mills, what do you use for your audio recording? Just starting my channel and I’m looking for some ideas on equipment etc. love the channel :)
Absolutely! Feel free to message me on Instagram anytime too id love to help!
My audio is Rode Videomic NTG microphones. I have one set on a boom for doing the shorts and reels and my main YT one is on the Sony Camera in front of me.
@@MillisConstruction thanks man! Yeh cool I’ve dropped you a message :)
I have the whole wera joker collection of wrenches and ratchets. I want I didn't like added a whole collection of zyklops is 1/4 ratchet it failed the first day I used it.
They have a pretty good warranty on them, have you messaged their warranty department?
I just had it returned to Amazon have plenty of tekton tools and crap-on ,Mac to make up for one little ratchet.
I gotta say the tool check plus is kinda ass. $100 for that, nah. I bought the 3/8 zyklops set very nice
That 3/8 ratchet is solid!!
I could kick myself in the ass , for all the money I wasted on Snap On !
Like the Weras better?? I’ve always heard great things about snap on especially ratchets and wrenches
@@MillisConstruction yep more cost effective !
@@MillisConstruction Snap On makes some indespensible tools for specific automotive applications ( in some facetts of that trade , they are one of the only game in town . For general , they are well built , but not cost effective !
@@MillisConstruction By way of example , their Drivers are grossly inferior to PB Swiss , If restricted access isn’t an issue Wera wrenches are a much better idea ! They also try to debt trap users , knipex pliers are far superior !
I can't help but wounder how much they this guy to advertise for them
Wera has never paid me a dime or sent me a free tool of any kind 😊
If you have to explain basic operating instructions for the tool… then Wera is overpriced for your need.
