I have got -7 inch pliers wrench -10 inch pliers wrench -10 inch cobra 3 pairs -twin grip pliers which I love! So handy! I just got the wire stripper. Life is good
I am in industrial maintenance and once I started using Knipex tools it was a game changer. I no longer even carry an adjustable wrench, never knew what I was missing out on until I tried Knipex lol. Now I have a 12” cobra, 2x 10” cobras, 2 10” pliers wrenches, 10” diagonal cutters, a pair of twin grips and a pair of step cuts, no other brand comes close on those tools. I still prefer my snap on crimper strippers and my Klein linesman’s but everything else is Knipex
@@cbzeej depending on the most common size of pipe that your friend uses of course, but the ones I use most and would recommend as a set to cover most things for a pipe fitter would be a 12” cobra and a 10” cobra plier.
We agree on 4 of the top Five Knipex ever. Knipex Twin Grip 8", Wire Stripper 8", Cobra 7", and Utility Knife. They are on the permanent spots on my tool belt, always within my reach. Plier Wrench is a bit heavier, so stays in the bag.
I have quite a few Knipex but I don't care for those "comfort" handles, they just seem to get in the way in tight working areas. I do really like the Pliers Wrenches, as they call them, but with the other handles. The leverage and design is extraordinary and allows you to do things you couldn't with any other hand tool.
Totally agree, I own almost every knipex tools, some of the same tool I even own two. The comfort handle version just takes more space in tool pouch and you can hardly feel the difference.
I could see that. The only comfort grips I have are because they're vde, or on the twin grips (and I think that's the only option on those). Only thing I hate about the pliers wrench is that they don't lock. So if you get some real high torque stuff you'll need a different tool. But for most things they're invaluable. I carry Cobras for work though, cause I'd rather save weight and find a rag to save the chrome finished stuff than not have a grip on the stuff that needs those teeth.
I use the Twingrips at our OLD stables too. So many ancient, rusty nails, screws, bolts in the barn, fences, you name it. This thing just yanks stuff out. And I agree, gotta have the comfort grips on these... I wouldn't have known about them without you of course, thanks!
I actually used my small 5 inch Cobra pliers not to long ago to help pull off a plastic tag that was stuck in one of my new sockets I had bought pulled the tag right off real quick they have so many uses I love mine my one drawer in my toolbox is all Knipex pliers I think I have 10 all together.
I was turned into both Knipex and Wera by World Cup mountain bike mechanic, John Hall. I personally love Knipex’s mini XS wrench and their wire rope cutters. I personally don’t like the extra bulk of the comfort grips but I love the suggestion when having to really torque down on something you’re working on.
Great top 5. I started with the cobras and pliers wrench as well. Then got hooked. I do building controls. By far most used Knipex is the 6" diagonal cutters. I've used them for everything for 3 years and they'll still cut pull string like scissors.
I have many knipex tools but the cobras and pliers wrench are amazing. The two replaces so many other pliers. Everyone should own both. I also prefer the regular plastic handles myself.
I use the 6 inch cobra DAILY on so many applications doing commercial refrigeration and they have never let me down.. the 10 and 12 inch pair ehh there nice to have to look at
The only nips I used when I was a steel fixer was the Knipex end cutting nippers 200mm. They were good for about 3 to 4 months on 5-6 days of work per week.
In the last month I started changing over all of my other pliers and wrenches to Knipex . However I did make a mistake when I ordered the double grip pliers I did not get the comfort handle. You absolutely want that handle if you have bigger hands because those are thinner and aggravate my palms the comfort handles are incredibly comfortable and don't have any of these problems. I know a quality that's why the first time I used one of these changed everything for me next ill get Whia Screwdrivers and PB Swiss
I hadn't seen or heard about the Knipex Twin grip before, it looks really promising! I've already familiar with the other ones, but I needed to watch a bunch of different videos to get a hold of what kind of difference there was. Their own page doesn't make it a lot easier, so then I just leave it be, but now I know what I want and I'll buy it. I see you've got some Wera tools as well on the wall, that's also one of my favorite brands.
i took your advice and ordered 3 knipex tools the pliers wrench as well as the cobras and the twin grips really looking forward to trying them out when they arrive
Based on this video I bought the utility knife for my attic insulation project. That knife is awesome! It cut the 1" foam board insulation very well and that spine gave the blade plenty of strength. Incredibly happy with it!
Personally I find a lot of these imported tools are over hyped (wera especially), but not knipex. They are worth every penny. Get a set of pliers wrenches and be amazed. It’s the most used tool in my bag.
As a german i can say wera has very good quality but isnt top notch like other brands. You dont need to pay the premium when you can get good american screwdrivers or even some wihas when you want "german" Tools.
@BrainTimeOut as a German I'm curious if you have every used Klein tools from the US and had a comparison to the German counter parts. I've heard everyone talking about these German tools and my step dad is German and swears by German made tools but I was born and raised in the US. I've used Klein since I started as a young apprentice.
Amazon sent me a $60 Knipex wire stripper when I ordered a 6” Cobra. Too nice to send back so I order another Cobra. The 4” and 5” are great EDC’s too.
I have a absolute slew of knipex handtools but the itch I need to scratch are the plier wrench, just hit Amazon and it will be here Sunday! I hear too much about those things not to try, I’m a plumber and will mainly use them for adapters on top of the water heaters! Can already see me enjoying them.. great vid
I like that they're finally making the cobra with chrome on it so they don't rust up as easy as I mostly use mine for plumbing. However the rust does not affect the work the pliers do. However they're not making a comfort grip handles I don't think with the Chrome yet. Unless they just came out or something
The pliers wrench is extremely versatile. I use mine for ocy/ace/nitro regulators and to crimp off old compressor lines. The cobras are amazing to get copper tubing where I want them to go. They're the quintessential tool to start with I think. The strippers are nice, but I have found that the Klein Auto Stripper is incredibly fast and convenient. The Twin Grips are awesome as a regular slip joint and as a "grab anything" plier. They were my first Knipex, and I'm very happy to still have them. That knife is awesome, but I'd replace it with the Knipex Raptor in this list. The Raptors aren't that well known to newcomers, but they were copied by the appropriately titled Icon Parrots and complement the first two tools in this list.
I have to admit the first knipex i bought was the cobras and boy you are right. Instant satisfaction when the money you spent is well spent. Replaced my pipe wrenches. Always reach for the cobra

The 150 I've found is the best all around size. The dark horse of the pliers wrench. It's light enough for the pocket but powerful enough for pretty much every day maintenance jobs.

I have some Channelocks and I compared the size of the jaw openings on my 5 inch Cobra pliers and my 10 inch Channelock and the little 5 inch Cobra had a wider jaw opening which is amazing I always carry the 5 inch Cobras in my pocket along with my utility knife wherever I go.
First Knipex tool I bought was actually cable cutters for bicycle cables. I also have pliers wrench and cobra wrench in 180mm (borrowed from my dad and i wont give them back 😂) next tool I'll buy is gonna be Wera zyklop set
Yea I agree with the Cutix. As an electrician we all use the basic flip open or full size utility knives - but, the Cutix works even better, even for stripping big wire! I just wish it has a pocket clip!!
