Loved this! Thank you for filling me in.. been streaming on my phone & for some reason first 7 episodes of season 4 were coming thru in spanish really ticked me off just saying' thanks again!
Ruth gave me the absolute chills when she was screaming at Marty. I was stunned for a bit and just clapped at how good, real and raw that scream was. She deserves that 3RD EMNY
I was very disappointed with season 4.. seemed rushed and liek Covid had something to do with it. Only good parts was KC mob boss dying and following that up with Wyatt and his wife dying. Season 3 was by far the best season, 1 and 2 were also fantastic.. hopefully a bounce back with season 4 pt2, Jonah made me absolutely hate him lol, what a snitch of a family member, wished he got smoked instead of Wyatt, glad the old lady got what was coming to her, Marty, Ruth, Wendy are elite actors in this show. Ruth did fantastic at the end. Can’t wait for pt2!
@@BruceWaynesFactory you can’t be disappointed with season 4 because it isn’t over yet .. And I also I think it’s starting to become a trend to not like that last season of a show .. I see people saying this with every show .. Come on now .. Part 1 was really good .. The parts you named that were good is enough to say part 1 was good or atleast decent
@@Kaustic410 So far I’m disappointed with season 4 pt1.. I’ve watched every season, every episode, I definitely am not following a trend, when season 3 came out I thought it was the best yet, 1 and 2 were also fantastic, this one was disappointing, 7 episodes and just looked like they were out of ideas
@@BruceWaynesFactory well good thing that we’re all entitled to our own opinion and that you have yours and I have mine. And in my opinion, I really enjoyed this season pt 1.
Julia Garner will win every award available for her incredible acting playing Ruth. She steals every scene and commands your full attention. She's so important to Ozark's popularity. I hope the producers slip her a bit more money for her incredible efforts.
I got chills when Charlotte was low-key threatening Erin at the park.. She sounded “nice” but she basically said, ‘if you don’t keep your mouth shut, your entire family is going to die and I will willingly hand you off to the cartel for my family.’ She clearly has the Wendy gene..
Yes, finally someone has seen it too. She even told Erin that, the fact that they didn't have her mom killed doesn't mean they won't do it if they had to. She definitely has her mom's genes
Listen, I know it's all fictional, but my GOD I just feel so bad for Ruth. She had continuously told Wyatt that he's the only person in her life that she cares about. I hate Darlene for getting Wyatt into everything more than anything else she did. The way Ruth had to walk into that murder scene, too? THE very last straw. What a phenomenal actress.
Wyatt was a fool. She should of drugged his dumb ass, stuck him on a boat and got hell out of there. I mean once he saw Darlene straight up blast that driver across the driveway, he should have bolted. That would have shook me to the core to witness that and I'm a former cop. lol He's just a kid. No way irl would he have remained that calm. Just seeing it happen on TV fucked me up. Glad she's finally in hell, though. Poor Ruth. My favorite character.
@@Chris-js6oz And it's so sad knowing that Wyatt was actually close to leaving Darlene & going with Ruth! That kills me. Just conveniently had to have a child custody crisis RIGht before he tells her he's leaving. SO frustrating.
@@BryceEdwardBrown Agreed BEB! Subscribed to you AND Netflix because of this show. The acting quality of ALL the players in this series is OUTSTANDING! Jmo.
@@ajaini1709 I think there are some parts that are rewatchable, and there are other parts that aren't. If I watch it again, I'll probably skip through some parts/scenes.
I was never annoyed with the kids being rebellious. Actually, I was always on their side. Although I understand that Marty and Wendy are doing this to stay alive, that still does not change the sad fact that they are horrible criminal parents. Moreover, I’m down with Wendy being the final antagonist of the series. She feels way more dangerous than Javi. Even a psycho like Darlene gets scared of her lol
I know, it's like I can respect the acting of the adult characters, but that doesn't mean I'm going to side w/them over the kids. That's what I really don't get about some people being all pissed at Jonah, He's right, this shit is fucked up.
Charlotte's arc of trying to become emancipated did irritate me, but I was on Jonah's side this season. With that being said something felt off with Wendy, like she was being extra difficult.
@@TChalla616 Craziest part she wanted to use the power of the cartel to bolster her political capital and then become a power family and then what? She was so delusional. I hate how they portrayed her as some part of this cartel thing, Marty is the guy that does the laundering. Wendy got way to big for her shoes in my opinion. If the cartel took her out what do they lose? Nothing. Makes no sense why she is beloved by the cartel boss, he would only care about the job.
@@spenserswain953 I think Navarro respected Wendy's drive, ambition, determination, and ruthlessness when it came to handling things. He needed Marty because he's the genius behind keeping the money washed, but I believe he saw something in Wendy that he actually liked, something that would take him to the next level. That's why he told her he was especially disappointed in her when things started falling apart.
I don't think I've ever seen a character like Marty that gets himself caught between so many rocks and hard places. But he's a flatliner. Whatever is thrown at him, he immediately begins working on a win win solution. Although it seems someone always loses.
Rarely do I ever get goosebumps watching a series, but Julia Garner's performance did just that. Outstanding is an understatement - best series on Netflix.
I know he was stupid but still it actually made my stomach hurt. It's also the way this show handles death; they spend so long building up or showing a character and then, abruptly, they get killed.
@@Jay-og4yb yes this show does that. Weather you like them or not they will kill of a Major character. I enjoy the crazy writing on this show. They do things sometimes that don’t make sense but are sure enjoyable.
Just finished season 4 part one. Holy shit that ending gave me chills. Julia Garner was absolutely amazing. Her acting literally shocked me. I could feel the anger and rage through the screen. Amazing.
I am flabbergasted that no one mentioned the actor Tom Pelphrey who plays Wendy's brother Ben. He should've been awarded multiple times for his performance in S3.
@@simeoda I found the whole story line with Ben and Ruth and his illness tedious, annoying and frustrating. I wanted to take him out long before Helen did.
Ruth's (Julia) acting is freaking amazing. The part where she screamed at Marty envoked so much anxiety in me it was like she was screaming at me. Well done. 👏👏
What an a awesome cast . There isn’t a dud in the entire show and it has been the first series I have become fully immersed in for many years. Kudos to all involved.
I agree, of all the seasons, I was disappointed with season 3 only. it was like running on a flat tire...season 1,2, and so far half of 4 is bad ass!! 💪😎
I laughed when Marty offered a mere 15% discount on a casket while in the midst of life or death drama. He _still_ tried to save money by going with 20% only to ultimately settle with 25%+ when he sort of realized it doesn't really matter! Jeeeezus Marty, priorities!!!
They are all great. But I never hated Wendy or darleen as much as this. And Wendy more. Jesus. Worst than darleen. That’s a lot. Wendy is pure evil. I think she always was
Why does Laura Linney always look like she’s about to cry in Ozark? Is she just that good an actress to make it look like she’s always anxious. It’s impressive honestly.
No I don't think anyone would be surprised that Darlene was straight up shooting people, that fact about her was never hidden nor downplayed, that's who she is.. Wendy though we all saw how she became who she was, the power craving even though subtle ever creeping into her... God I can never get enough of Ozark... Netflix please give us 2 seasons more. Am nt ready to let them go.. it is wonderful writing, great character development on all the cast...
I was not ready for Wyatt to go like that, or Darlene, who was awfully provocative for someone with no security. I wasn’t happy with how easily Javi was able to be in her house waiting for them. Where were her “men,” whom she boasts about in ep 4.1 when proudly and defiantly proclaiming her invulnerability to any potential threats from the cartel? Stable or unstable, she was never stupid, and didn’t deserve to be taken out so easily. I simply don’t believe she would be so loose with her shotgun, blowing away drug lords & greedy randos, revenge killing women by C-section, or shooting made-boy’s dicks off so casually without some sort of army commensurate to her considerable cojónes. Even though we rarely saw anyone, she behaved as though she had protection when she didn’t have so much as a Ring doorbell to alert her someone was in her home. This was a serious story-flaw that was disrespectful to the character they so deliciously built Darlene to be. I loved to hate her, and I hate that she was taken out so, so easily. Wyatt was tragic collateral damage to a death scene that should never have played out so flippantly. Ozark needed at least 5 full seasons to be as truly triumphant as Breaking Bad. I felt season 4 really came up short so far. The characters, the actors, the acting, all deserve better! #Ozark
@@jckofalltrades just a thought. All the men that she has for protection are not there out of loyalty they are there because they are being compensated. When she went to go visit the mob she owed them a lot of money but instead of paying in cash she offered up heroin as a payment. Which might be a sign that she didn't have much cash. She also was having a lot of trouble moving the product. Since her protection is based on compensation anyone could be bought off especially when you know that she just killed one of the leaders of the Kansas City mob. I know I am reaching here. As far as Wyatt goes I can't say I feel too sorry for him. After all how many people did he see Darlene kill and was still hanging out with her
@@davemartinez4143 you are right. I wish they’d shown that, or some form of it, …you could’ve written it, right there. Her demise was inevitable, but they made it way too easy. They owed it to the Snell storyline, if they wanted to make her so brazen, to make her equally as difficult to get to. They took a major shortcut, for shock value, and it left me feeling duped for believing she was savvier than she was, and certainly claimed to be. Every time she confronted anyone, or put a hole in them, it was with some form of ‘come and get me!’ Who knew it would be so easy? She’s portrayed throughout as nearly as formidable as any Mexican cartel, with home-turf advantage, but when the inevitable time came, she was a sitting duck, literally. If there was no one left willing to protect her, or the poppy fields, I wish they’d have let us know. And I find Javi, as the only villain left standing, too flimsy, uninteresting and new to sustain any real tension for the remaining 7 episodes. Wyatt, indeed, deserved his ignominious end, especially because he’d have known, more than anyone, how unprotected they really were from retribution. I was sorry to see Darlene go so easily and so soon, I thought the confrontations between her and the Byrdes were much more nuanced and tense and all-out sheer spine-tingling drama than any between them and the cartel, and like a flash, like a Helen…she was gone. It’s only because I love this show and these characters so much that I’ve become so critical of it. For the most part they’ve all done an outstanding job!
I've never had a show make me actually feel like I was being hunted by the cartel or something, like that real feeling of paranoia, just for watching it. Ozark was amazing and I cannot wait for the final part.
Yes please add a part two review. There is always something I missed and you explain it very well in detail. I'm so going to miss this show and all the great actors in it.
No part 2 recap of Season 4 part 1 needed, you nailed it. Also, the actor that played Wendy's brother deserves an award for his final 3 episodes. You literally witnessed him mentally disintegrate.
We definitely need a Part 2 to this video!! You discussed so much about Ozark S4 Part 1 but still didn’t get to breaking down Maya and Mel Sattem (which both might have a similar goal/path in S4 Part 2 👀). And even more about Ruth’s interesting season so far, and the difference in how Marty and Wendy treat her. So much happened in these 7 episodes
@@abeltesfaye_ uhhh... he literally asks us if we want a part 2 at the end of his video. being interested and pointing out that there is more to talk about isnt being ungrateful
Damn this guy really tied together every piece of necessary info of the entire series into this one video. There are little aspects here and there of people’s desires and intentions that get overlooked when you’re just casually watching. And this gift wraps it all together so perfectly
Man I really think Ruth will kill Javi , but you have to remember Javi knows about Ruth’s appearance and what she did to hurt the cartel working with Darlene. Ruth will surely die this season
@@kallivino8346 Nah. Don't see that. She may well take over Darlene's farm. Especially since she's now married into the family. But I think she gets out because she wants out. As for how things play out with Javi - I think it's very simple. Javi will make the same mistake everyone does with Ruth. He'll see a teesny, tiny "slip of a thing" and be completely blind to the threat. Because Javi is all about image and less substance. His cousin wouldn't make the same mistake because he's a realist and understands danger comes in all shapes and sizes. For instance - he chuckled at Maya who thought she was in control of the Byrds when nothing could be further from the truth. And don't forget - Ruth is now a parent. As Wendy pointed out to Maya, "Being a parent makes you fierce". I have no doubts Ruth and Zeke make it out. Less sure about the Byrd parents. Think both might die and the kids (along with Ruth) are left to carry on (with a big stash of money).
Nobody can explain it to him properly. Marty has too much on his plate to focus on his son. It's fire after fire after fire. Wendy is still grieving and was witness to another murder, someone who was a threat against them. She has no emotional stability especially when dealing with her son. Not to mention the opioid lie, I think Wendy has broken bad on new level.
I think Maya, her mother, and child will probably be killed. Javi feels untouchable and already is comfortable attacking agents on U.S. soil. The first half of the season made this whole point of Omar not hurting children, so I expect Javi will contrast this by doing just that.
@@creativejeans9983 my guess is less of character motivation and more that the baby will play into plot of the end. He still might too, especially if the kid is around Ruth when she goes for revenge. Can't wait to see the rest!
@@leftofyou Ah yes good point! And maybe when Ziek was crying he got flustered or distracted and just decided to leave. I can't wait for part 2! I just did a rewatch and I'm tempted to do it again!
@@TheClevelandSteamer I think the show has repeatedly shown over and over again that anyone Marty or Wendy try to help end up pretty dead. 2 babys have been introduced to show over the seasons. They will most likely play into it's ending.
Wendy is pure evil. Her manipulation and selfishness in furthering her own agenda will get them all killed. She's been so seduced by power she's willing to sacrifice her entire family to win. Truly a psycho.
Thank you for your explanation of Charlotte and Jonah. I have been having this same conversation with a bunch of people and saying mostly the same thing. Both their storylines make sense and they are acting like teenagers. Not to mention mom and dad are lying to them and being incredibly hypocritical. Plus I like season 4 how Charlotte is the family loyalist where Jonah is the one rebelling.
Appreciated the run thru. That last scene in S. 4 Pt 1 had me spellbound. Ruth is on a mission. Incredible performance. Her Emmy is surely on the way.👍
This was an incredibly detailed and thoughtful analysis of the characters and story arc behind much of this series. I have to disagree with you about Jonah however. You see, Charlotte was a petulant teenager but Jonah, who lost two people who are closest to him, Sees Wendy as the monster she is. When Jonah lost buddy he was incredibly sad however when Ben was murdered, Jonah was traumatized. His confrontation with Helen illustrates both Jonas bravery in defending what he sees as his justice while being both confused and feeling abandoned by his mother‘s act. As far as the conclusion of season four is concerned, I suspect that the parallels in this series will continue and that unfortunately Wendy will lose another child, namely Jonah, in this car crash. Which is doubly sad for me since Jonah has become easily my favourite character in this series. Thank you for your hard work in this analysis and in the preparation of this and other Ozark recaps.
I really don't expect Wendy to make it to the end, noting her actions and Navarros telling her how she disappointed him. Navarro doesn't handle disappointment well.
@anthony silva. I agree. The first accident losing a child mirror and Wendy telling Jonah he doesn’t have to go. Jonah is the only “innocent” Byrd left. The damage to the family could be the impetus for a final arc.
Sadly, I agree that I think Jonah will either die or be maimed in the car accident. You don't have a car accident as cold open to the season for no reason and the first half was very Jonah-centric. I hope we're wrong bc I have no interest in that storytelling. I don't want Jonah to die or be brain dead or something, but I especially don't want it to happen in lazy car accident storytelling. But, it has to exist for a reason. My fantasy is Jonah is unhurt but Marty sees a chance for Jonah to fake his death so he makes him hide in the woods or something to make contact with Ruth to get the hell outta the Ozarks. Remember, Marty trusts Ruth to take care of Jonah if something happens to him. Otherwise, this car accident is just straight dumb.
@@jennifercorozza7002 You have a car accident as cold open when you want people to have something to discus and debate until, possibly, the end of the show, and that has happened.
I would love to see a Part 2! One aspect I was hoping you would cover was the undercover detective. The 'detective' was rather interesting and may be an integral part to S4 Part 2...
I agree, I thought it was interesting how he swore all season he just wanted a signature until he called Maya, saying he was investigating the Byrdes. It's clear his priorities have shifted and he's determined to figure out what's going on
Great breakdown, love this show, and really sad it’s only got 7 more episodes left; but it’s the best thing since Breaking Bad, and I hope it delivers like BB did in its finale season,
@@acres90 yeah, it’s been confirmed that this last season is 2 7 Episode parts; just like breaking bad did it’s finale season in 2 parts. Released up to a year apart
Thanks for saying exactly what I was thinking. And the last 7 episodes are dropping on April 29th. Set your calendar. (Though you may know this by now;)
now that i think about it its a huge possibility marty kills his wife. like they get away with everything at the end but the wife is still power hungry and marty have to make a choice. similarly to game of throne with daenarys and jon
Idk if he ends up killin her, but I def see her as the big bad in the show. Even her father hints at it when the PI goes to see him, saying she has always been like this. The show is def portraying her negatively for a reason. People compare her to Skylar from BB, but she's nowhere close. Skylar did everything to protect her family. In Wendy's mind, she's doing it for the family but its really satisfying for her and she gets off on it all realistically. I do think she dies as well in P2. Can't wait. Amazing actress, absolutely hate her character though lol.
This was AMAZING so far. I have to say this is about the only show where I like almost every character. Only character I do not like is Darlene (she’s a psychopath and ew for sleeping with Wyatt) but man this show is amazing, the way they write for these characters and you can honestly understand all of their motivations even if you don’t agree. I feel like we’re going to find out some kind of twist in this second half, I’m excited to see and idk I might be in the minority but I do want the Byrdes (mostly Marty) to get out of this okay he was only ever trying to protect his family.
Omg I was literally just ranting to someone today about how I have NEVER hated any character in a show more than Darlene. I haven’t finished the show yet so I don’t k ow how it ends but I also hate the fact that she has Zeke
I love the character she played! Absolutely fantastic! Crazy or not, the acting was great and her character was perfectly portrayed. So good, wish they kept her alive!
Think I have cracked it! Flashbacks to the beginning mean that right from the start Marty started working for the FEDs undercover ( didn,t even let the family know) and went through the whole thing in order to bring down the Mexican Cartels, Kansas city mob, and Darlene's Heroin setup. The end scene is a staged death for all so the family go into a witness protection program. Hoping he actually saved Ben somehow ( never saw body )and he and Ruth live happily ever after. Hints- kids talk about living anonymously somewhere in the Mausoleum scene.
@@anitrachere7024 Pretty sure Marty saved ben somehow that's why he keeps telling wendy to stop talking openly about Ben.It might make him come out of hiding to refute the claims he was a drug addict.
@@kallivino8346 Mmmm🤔 That’s very interesting. I never thought about Marty saving Ben. My theory was Wendy paid Nelson not to kill him and secretly had him committed to a mental institution again. That’s why she was so distraught in the parking lot, because she knew Ben hated it. She’s just playing along with the idea of him being alive because Darlene put the posters up. I think she went to Knoxville to make sure it wasn’t Ben, because she knows he’s alive. She’s trying to keep him away from Ruth. But hey, your theory makes sense as well. I can’t wait!!!
Good commentary. Kudos to Netflix for not only such a great series, but also for the multiple episodes (at a time) delivery. The one-episode-per-week model others use is so annoying and outdated.
I thought Navarro’s comments to Wendy towards the end was a sexual innuendo telling her to think of him when she is “alone… bottle of wine empty” . But that was just my take, I see your take on it being about remember the good times/powee
Nah i would go as far as love. He respects her because of what she does to hold on to power. Probably the best female character written in the last 5 yrs
Nice recap! Reminded me of things I had forgotten about in earlier seasons. I think I will go back and binge the entirety after season 4 part 2 is released!
Darlene is a stupid character. If I was the writers , Season 2 she would be gone. Jordana Spiro character, now there’s a believable story line. Season 3 was awful in general. Need to put a fork in it.
YOU just did the BEST JOB EVAH of recapping the CRAP out of Season 4 Part 1 !! THANK YOU !! AND you have just the most sooooothing voice too !! LOVED IT !! You must do voice over work all the time ... RIGHT ??!! ;-)
Really great synopsis! Just finished S4 pt 1 last night and tbh I wish I had gone back to watch the first 3 seasons before starting 4. You pointed out a lot of nuances and foreshadowing that I hadn't thought of. Well done.
Navarro also threatened Wendy when he said, "don't forget me". In summary, he said when you are alone and feeling at peace to remember him. Clearly inferring he will be a threat to her.
@@johnhopkinson7573 "Did you actually watch the show?" Well welcome to the party pal..Now leave your weird ego trip comment at the door. It's never said that they're dead and they werent even arguing. So much for poetry. Maybe watch it again. Or maybe YOU didn't really watch the show the first time. It's also never shown who was driving the semi truck and Marty didnt even commit a traffic violation, the truck came in to their lane by crossing a double yellow line, going the wrong way along a curve. Things are maybe implied, but you're reaching if you believe you already know how, when or even if they die based off that one opening scene you clearly didn't digest that well before talking shit.
Don't forget how he told her how disappointed he was, especially with her. I do think Wendy dies, and Omar either does it or he orders it. I would think he does it himself. The only way this doesn't happen, I believe, is if she knows he's going to kill her and she gets him first.
And I thought it Navarro had a crush on Wendy... and almost deep admiration for how much potential 'dark' potential she has... convinced that Wendy will find the straight legit life absolutely boring!! My take.... Its nice that we are interpreting it differently. Its a marker of good writing!
The only complaint I have with season 4 was Darlene. It is known that she is a nut-job and a loose cannon yet cold & logical people like Navarro & Wendy allow her to remain in play as a likely variable in their plans. Navarro & Wendy whacked Wendy's own brother because he was a liability but they let Darlene live? Furthermore, it isn't believable for Javi (who is known to be a loose-cannon) to let her live for as long as he did despite there being (in his eyes) no perceived gain beyond obeying his uncle. To compound this, characters constantly antagonise her, knowing that she's more than happy to pull out her shotgun and fire at any slight. Frank Sr. *a mob boss* going alone to her home to threaten her made absolutely no sense and felt like shoddy writing.
I disagree. Especially with the Frank Sr. point! He felt that he was in a power position because of Darlene’s desperation of having no one to sell too and already being in debt. Plus blind rage!
Them living through season 2 was already retarded. Loose canon phychos do not last in the Crime world. It's been proven time and time again. The snells didnt even have a army of guards it's always just been them. Their plot armor was non sense.
The Snells are the Ozark's first family. That kind of reverence is why Darlene was allowed to operate with impunity. KC Mob boss doesn't know what we know. He doesn't know who she killed. You have to remember that the audience knows Darlene as a wackjob, not her business partners. He knows she shot off his boy's dick, but he'd never think in a million years that she'd kill him, due to his position. That's not bad writing, that's just a character being blindsided by his own self importance and power. Darlene was worth nothing dead. Javi is a loose cannon who wants to end anyone he perceives as a threat to the business. He's a prime example of the millennial mindset of inheritance and privilege. Now that he has even more privilege than before he's the most dangerous character in the entire series.
Ya, I always thought it was weird how Darlene has no problem killing anybody but the worst thing she does to the Byrdes, whom she hates, is cut Jonah's hair???
I recently saw Julia Garner. (Ruth) on a talk show. She is totally different from the character she plays on Ozark. She is sweet and humorous. It blew me away. It should not have. That is what good acting js: The performer becomes someone else. As I was watching her I was thinking, She probably never uses the "f" word. She is the best I have seen in a long time. Thus show keeps getting better with every episode, and very soon it will be over. Ozark and Succession. The best TV.
Ok My theory is this: Ruth Will be on danger and Will be Saved by Marty. I believe this because Ruth always points out to Marty that he doesnt cares about her. My hope is that he does that at expense of Wendy. Se annoyed me a lot this season.😝
Great rundown of Ozark! Ty! It's the BEST show out there and you just made it even better for me. I've watched all 4 seasons twice and missed certain things until you just pointed them out. Awesome commentary. Ty again I'm definitely a new subscriber now!!
Maya has something up her sleeve. She dismissed Glenn Morshower’s character (FBI boss) in front of the Marty and/or Wendy. She then has Omar arrested. Maya is not one to be told to “know your role” and then just becomes a pushover. I think this sets up something interesting in part two. Maya is too smart to put her family in danger. I don’t think Maya will get killed especially with her mother now in town to help take care of her son. It feels like she worked something out with Omar, Wendy or Marty go to jail to keep him safe while they take down Javi and the rest of the cartel. Javi is out of control. Also, why would the sheriffs office want Omar? Is Javi going to frame Omar for killing Nix? Think about how Javi smirked at that billboard when he drove by it.
This is (to me) the best Netflix show ever! I don't care man, I love a lot of Netflix shows but at the same time I've been kind of disappointed with a lot of things they've produced, but this show is the fucking BOMB! It's so immersive, well written and amazingly acted! Every performance is amazing! Props to Alfonso Herrera (Javi). He makes me hate that son of a bitch a lot which is something a good performance can do. He's very famous here in Brazil because of the mexican telenovela Rebelde and their music group called RBD. This was an amazing casting!
Season 4 seemed a bit different too me. 2 mistakes I’ve noticed in the writing of season 4 was how they wrote the big bosses. First the kc mob boss goes to Darlene’s house knows she’s crazy and could easily kill him. It bothers me how he showed up alone on enemy territory. A mob boss would never do that. Also the cartel boss. Season 4 he literally breaks his family code. Something you’ll never see from Navarro through season 1-3 he literally throws his family under the bus for his own safety. Makes no sense. But rather than that the show was beautiful. Season 1-3 will remain the best of the best this show has to offer.
I partially agree with some of this, mainly with Frank Sr. going to Darlene’s alone. I never thought of that. But I truthfully think Navarro’s progression through 4 seasons makes sense. The last minute of season 3, with Navarro choosing the Byrde’s over Helen, and the first 15-20 mins of season 4, immediately show you Navarro is Team Byrde and he is hesitant of his nephew. Javi was TOO close with Helen and that’s an internal family issue. Nelson is a thorough bred, through and through. You don’t think he was tight with Helen lol? Javi is emotional. He’s the only member of the cartel giving Omar issues. If Javi doesn’t kill the cop, he doesn’t turn against him. He doesn’t cave in to the FBI wanting him to give up something in exchange. All that being said, I would be on your side IF Javi didn’t fuck up killing the sheriff. That was the catalyst for Navarro’s writing from eps 2-7.
Season 4 writing was a bit sloppy. I mean Navarro is so guarded, and gets caught so easily... Didn't make sense. I agree with Frank Snr as well. I mean they all know Darlene temper... Come on!!
So great to find this! Your channel is rocking. So, I think Jonah understands what’s happening with Wendy. She’s just as unstable as Ben or Darlene she’s just hid it until now she’s breaking. I think Wendy has always had a little tiny bit of darkness since she was a child. Now she’s explored it to the max, Navarro could see it too. Wendy did not have to have her brother killed. She’s part of a drug cartel, you mean to tell me she couldn’t get his lithium or what have you? It was just her crazy showing, she’s solving things with intensity and emotion like Darlene. I’m fullyOK with Ruth inheriting all the Darlene stuff. I hope she does. Ruth worked both k like a slave to Marty and like a daughter. She deserves a powerful life even though it’s full of crime but that was her whole backstory anyway. Anyhow thanks so much for so much to chew on LOL.
Not everyone in this world is about self preservation. Some rare people like Jonah and Ben exhibit morals and values that go beyond that. Simply put, for them their values are worth more than money or survival. Jonah and Ben are the types of people that would risk their lives during WW2 to save Jews because it's the right thing to do, not because it's the "smart" thing to do.
What an awesome rundown! I had forgotten so many first two seasons Bryce did a great job tying everything together to wrap up Season four, part one. I forgot about Jacobs meeting with Marty, as he asks Marty, “What do you do, when the bride who used to take your breath away, becomes the wife who makes you hold your breath in terror"?!!
I hate Maya. If she lost faith in the bureau she should have accepted Marty’s offer of a Position with the Foundation. What a Selfish and Pointless move.
Continue you broke this down like a piece of bread. Your commentary was amazing things that I missed all the little nuances you captured great job. I’m subscribing for sure. Thx ❤️
Why would Frank Sr., the HEAD OF THE KC MOB, go to Darleens house all alone to threaten her? Why wouldn't he have several people with him with guns, or he could have just sent a goon squad and stayed home? That's the only major flaw I saw this season, but I loved it.
He thought that he was untouchable because of his position. The way he talked to her before he was killed, you could tell in his voice that he wasn't fearful of what she might do to him.

I thought for sure Charlotte was gonna pop her!
Nah she overrated
You don’t know how anything works.
definately over-rated, she's got better through the seasons and was great in the last episode but her accent is awful, laura linney is the standard.
Shes good in all her roles!
Shed really sexy too
I got chills when Charlotte was low-key threatening Erin at the park..
For sure
They portray Charlotte like Wendy and Johna like Marty. The scene on the trampoline was the end of their innocence. They looked like their parents
I loved that part Dont be surprised if she goes after the Byrd family
I think it was a warning not a threat.
Ruth’s actress is phenomenal. She will be very highly rated once it’s all said and done.
Love her!
Julia Garner!
Julia garner. She won an Emmy for that role 2yrs ago ,I believe.

You stole that joke... we've been saying "Ruthless" since last season
@@abeltesfaye_ You may have been saying it, but it was not theft in any way, shape, or form.
You feel so bad because you are so invested in the characters and that is because the cast is so ridiculously talented. What a great show.
Poor Frank junior, he didn’t do anything and he’s got Ruth really pissed off at him. Frank turned out pretty good considering his situation.
@@Chris-js6oz And it's so sad knowing that Wyatt was actually close to leaving Darlene & going with Ruth! That kills me. Just conveniently had to have a child custody crisis RIGht before he tells her he's leaving. SO frustrating.

Same here I was actually on Johan side he and Ruth was pro5 my favorite parts of the season. Wendy annoyed the fuck outta me.

I agree
Wyatt took “Till death do us part” a little too seriously 💀
Tragic ending to his character for sure
Just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Javi even said sorry before killing him. I guess at that point you can't leave a witness
I just got finished watching it less than five minutes ago. Ruth’s actress deserves all the awards. Ozarks has been the best show ever.
Why don't you make a video then? Don't be ungrateful, this video likely took weeks to make - stop requiring more and more just to be satisfied
Its either Javi or Ruth
Ruth and the baby will be the last people standing when hell freezes over.
Same. It's either Ruth or Javi. But let's see.. al
If Ruth really does kill Javi she will be the biggest badass of them all. Maybe she clutches the cookie jar ( Ben) and takes over the Mexican Kartel!
Since Friday I've been seeing each and every analysis on this season and yours is the most complete yet. Thank you.
Yay, so glad to hear! Thanks for watching maximuscesar!
This is probably the best recap and review for Ozark on the internet. Period.
I get Jonah's anger, but why can't he see how Ben being free literally would've gotten his whole family knocked off?
Although when Javi killed Darlene and Wyatt I'm wondering why he didn't kill baby Zeik?
@@creativejeans9983 my guess is less of character motivation and more that the baby will play into plot of the end. He still might too, especially if the kid is around Ruth when she goes for revenge. Can't wait to see the rest!

@@TheClevelandSteamer I think the show has repeatedly shown over and over again that anyone Marty or Wendy try to help end up pretty dead. 2 babys have been introduced to show over the seasons. They will most likely play into it's ending.

she definitely has
I can definitely see that haha
100 % and she hides it as "I'm protecting you" but she doesn't listen to her children or what they want.
Wendy is pure evil. Her manipulation and selfishness in furthering her own agenda will get them all killed. She's been so seduced by power she's willing to sacrifice her entire family to win. Truly a psycho.
No way. Marty’s wayyy to soft this season. That why MAYA got over on him. Wendy is a super C@nt. And I love it!!
Laura lenny is one of very few actresses who hasn't ruined her face with plastic surgery and she absolutely beautiful!!

Can't wait.
Yeah! I don’t think Ben is dead either. I think the snoopy PI guy is going to find him.
this sounds like a great ending but probably not going to happen since navarro's nephew is on a killing spree

I think she went to Knoxville to make sure it wasn’t Ben, because she knows he’s alive. She’s trying to keep him away from Ruth. But hey, your theory makes sense as well. I can’t wait!!!

I can wait for part 2. Hate the thought that it will be over.
Same, hopefully it comes out later this year like they've been saying!
Good commentary. Kudos to Netflix for not only such a great series, but also for the multiple episodes (at a time) delivery. The one-episode-per-week model others use is so annoying and outdated.
This was the absolute best recap, thank you!
I thought Navarro’s comments to Wendy towards the end was a sexual innuendo telling her to think of him when she is “alone… bottle of wine empty” . But that was just my take, I see your take on it being about remember the good times/powee
I think Navarro loved her.
Nah i would go as far as love. He respects her because of what she does to hold on to power. Probably the best female character written in the last 5 yrs
When Navarro said he was most disappointed in Wendy when things went sour, it felt like he had at least developed a deep trust in her.
That’s what I thought too
Nice recap! Reminded me of things I had forgotten about in earlier seasons. I think I will go back and binge the entirety after season 4 part 2 is released!
Adore Julia Garner as Ruth in this series but Lisa Emery as Darlene has been amazing, I even felt sorry for her a few times
Yes! Lisa Emery is so good...I'm going to miss Darlene lol.
Darlene is a stupid character. If I was the writers , Season 2 she would be gone. Jordana Spiro character, now there’s a believable story line. Season 3 was awful in general. Need to put a fork in it.
Loved her crazy character! Fantastic!
@@gabriellagrace4734 Love the actor, but hated that bitch. Loved when Wendy nearly gave her a stroke. I would have left her for dead.
@@Solitude47152 you're a weirdo
We definitely need a part 2. This was awesome!
You’re saying that as if they didn’t already shoot part two.
Hopefully soon! Thanks for watching Viva la Melanin!
@@user-ux1vj9vx7s I think she meant a part two of this review....here. After the Ozark S4 Pt2 drops.
This show is one of the best on Netflix.
Great story line and superb acting.
Twists and turns throughout make this a very addictive show.
YOU just did the BEST JOB EVAH of recapping the CRAP out of Season 4 Part 1 !! THANK YOU !! AND you have just the most sooooothing voice too !! LOVED IT !! You must do voice over work all the time ... RIGHT ??!! ;-)
I love how they add that nice "shtty video compression" look on this show. Great artistic choice.
I see the obvious ending. Marty and Wendy will die in the car accident. Leaving their kids in control making the decisions. BTW. Great Scream video.
@@sedevacante0027 I don't know why, but that sounds horrible to me. I hope that isn't the case.
@@sedevacante0027 I hope Marty survives.
@@sedevacante0027 They will not die LOL
@@sedevacante0027 In the first season they "lost a child" in the car accident. In the car accident in season 4 they will "lose a child."
@@johnhopkinson7573 "Did you actually watch the show?" Well welcome to the party pal..Now
leave your weird ego trip comment at the door.
@@Nangondo Agreed
Agreed.
Was surprised to learn she's Married to Mark from 'Foster the People'. Looking forward to her new show 'Inventing Anna' .
This is probably my favorite show ever every episode leaves you wanting more an wanting to see what is coming next.
Ok My theory is this:
Ruth Will be on danger and Will be Saved by Marty. I believe this because Ruth always points out to Marty that he doesnt cares about her.
My hope is that he does that at expense of Wendy. Se annoyed me a lot this season.😝
I hope this too
I hope marty kills javi and saves ruth. That would be awesome
this would be a great ending marty saving ruth killing javi and letting wendy die at the hand of javi
Good to see all the support for the actress that plays Ruth (Julia Garner). Her acting is unmatched in this show.
Really well done…a perceptive and profoundly accurate discussion of the characters and their motivations.
I look forward to future discussions.
Ruth has always been the strongest actor on the show (outside of Bateman). Whoever plays Omar is also a very good actor
Julia Garner.....her acting was chilling and award worthy. I had to replay the last few minutes over and over again.
Ruth was absolutely phenomenal all through the show, but the end......OMG!!!
Bravo. So happy i found you. Keep doing what your doing. Your thoughts are sensational
Thank you!!! I feel the EXACT SAME WAY!!!!!!
Adrian I thought the same thing about Frank Sr. I thought Frank was drunk.
Amazing breakdown. Thank you.
Thank you for watching Timothy Torigian!
Loved this! Great insight and really appreciated the references to prior seasons to substantiate your analysis; please do this for Season 4 part 2!
Not everyone in this world is about self preservation. Some rare people like Jonah and Ben exhibit morals and values that go beyond that. Simply put, for them their values are worth more than money or survival. Jonah and Ben are the types of people that would risk their lives during WW2 to save Jews because it's the right thing to do, not because it's the "smart" thing to do.
an easier example..... teachers

Thank you Stephanie Michaud, glad to hear!!
Amazing recap! Opened my eyes on so many things I hadn't considered. Yes for a part 2 of season 4 part 1 recap please!
Ruth is a great actress as well. So much emotion when Wyatt got killed
What an awesome rundown! I had forgotten so many first two seasons Bryce did a great job tying everything together to wrap up Season four, part one. I forgot about Jacobs meeting with Marty,
as he asks Marty, “What do you do, when the bride who used to take your breath away, becomes the wife who makes you hold your breath in terror"?!!
I'm excited for part 2
Same! Hope it comes out soon!
These are very GOOD!!! THNXS!!!! Make more!!!
I hate Maya. If she lost faith in the bureau she should have accepted Marty’s offer of a Position with the Foundation. What a Selfish and Pointless move.
I hate her too her whole presence annoys me
You do realize the character has to make those decisions to further the plot right?!😄
That women doesn't give a damn thing bout her baby or her mum. She put herself in danger if she gets killed, lesson learned.
@@theTruthSeekerishere The plot could have been written in a variety of ways. It was a Decision from the Writers Room and Showrunner.

Ruth’s acting was freakin awesome. I always enjoyed her role but that last scene took it to the next level.

Julia Garner was fucking phenomenal in that final episode. I see another Emmy in her future 🙌🏽
Great video. Ozark will be missed. We are binge watching all seasons now.
Thank you!!
Not a flaw at all he felt no threat to his life when approaching Darlene
I thought the same thing.
Exactly. At that moment I was like … there’s a shot gun in your near future.
He didn't know Darlene was crazy enough to kill him.
