Everyone talks about Jeff Bridges great performance in this movie, but Chris Pine’s quiet and understated performance is noteworthy as well.
I'm a huge fan of Ben Foster
Chris pine is playing a man who's spiritually dead. It's the only way he can continue living with the things he's done.
aCToRs r gUd
I'll be honest I didn't even recognize him in this role.
these days when you want another one, watch outlaw king, great movie with chris ,too.
I love Hamilton and Parker's relationship in this movie. You know their friends by how brutally they just shit talk eachother.
"Sometimes a blind pig finds a truffle " 😂
They're or they are, not their. 🙂
Idk man. The native/Mexican guy was just treating an ignorant white man like all minorities have to. White guy is maybe not being nefarious but he sucks still
It felt like the native wasnt bantering back anywhere near as much though, most of the time he was just taking it and huffing, the hotel tv scene especially
they're*
When Parker went down, my jaw dropped. Completely caught me off guard. You're hard pressed to find a genuinely shocking scene in a movie like this anymore. I can't get enough of how great this movie is!
i remember watching and thinking, "its dumb how he just exposing himself to a sharpshooter movies are so unrealisitic.... oh dang, they called my bluff"
also you hear the zip of the bullet before the shot
3:10 the look of shock and sadness on Bridges' face says it all.
If you haven't seen it watch The Departed with Leonardo dicaprio
How did his death even remotely sneak up on you?
This movie is a hidden gem. It flew under the radar somehow
It's the Chris pine effect lol.
this movie is basically a discount sicario or no country. both are better films. still good tho
anyone who had been paying attention (i.e. watched sicario) saw taylor sheridan's name attached to this project, anticipated it, watched it, and loved it.
@@funkndonut you're more well informed than I am my friend. All I remember from that summer is X-Men apocalypse and Suicide Squad dominating the theaters. I didn't see Hell Or High Water until it was streaming
@@ILOVEGOOOOOOLDIt went under the radar due to marketing being low. The movie is a cult classic in the Neo Western genre.
Man, this movie does a great job having characters on both sides of the narrative you really don't want to see killed.
That was a shocking death, so quick, and to a character you came to really like
Jeff's reaction is heartbreaking.
3:13 such raw emotion, disbelief, sorrow, anger, that was his brother in arms ain’t no mercy for that crook on the hill
Heard good things about this movie when it came out and was lucky enough to see it in a theatre. One hell of a good movie. Bought it on DVD too. A real modern day classic. Jeff Bridges is a great actor.
Either you don’t want the green beans or you don’t want the corn on the cob.
Ain't nobody gonna rob this place ...I don't want green beans either.
What don't ya want?
"Give me half an hour and ill have him field dressed on the hood of my car!" That is the most West Texan thing I've ever heard They really nailed the attitude of the rough and ready people who live in that region, I say that as a Texas native who's traveled through West Texas a handful of times.
this entire movie ( and just about everything else he does) is pure Taylor Sheriden.. Wind River.. Sacario .. oh yea... TV's Yellowstone universe ( 1883 , 1923 and now the story of the "real" Lone Ranger : Bass Reeves )
@@pattipelayo1389 Psyched out of my mind to see Bass Reeves. There's only 5 people in the Hollywood industry I trust to properly handle a western story: Sheridan, the Coen brothers, Quinten Tarantino, and Kevin Costner.
I grew up out there. Not everyone has that attitude but I did know plenty
Not really
It reminded me of reading PA
The foreshadowing him and his partner talk about in the truck. Plays out exactly opposite of what he was asking for… the blaze of glory.. I noticed it on my second watch.
The film does everything to convince you Bridges will go down. It's a fantastically done red herring.
The music, the scenery and everything else about this movie is splendid. I love this scene, Ben Foster and Jeff Bridges are awesome actors for this film.
One hell of a movie, it deserves more attention.
That mix of emotions Bridges shows after killing a man - relief and regret and all sorts of others
Fantastic
Yea I see why they cast him in that role.😢
The little cry he let out when chief was killed was heartbreaking. He only let himself feel it for a fraction of a second. He composed himself and wrecked the shooter
Not regret. The show of emotion was because he finally had a moment to stop working and deal with his partner's death
@@brians9508 I agree but you know he was his wing man. A leader can move through emotions to achieve the goal and deal with death later...............real world experience. Perhapes you should join the arm service cump,
When you just go nuts as Trevor in the desert in GTA 5
I love how he kept talking after his partner was shot
The car almost not starting was such a ice touch
If Chris Pine had to get out of his car to look at the engine he would've been caught.
I've watched this movie atleast three times and could still watch again....
Sometimes a blind pig finds a truffle? They find truffles by scent lmao, if anything a blind pig would probably find them easier.
Girl have you been to the forest? It isn’t easier to be blind there. Get your life together, honey.
Semantically speaking, it still works - blinded can imply the loss of any sense
IDK what ending is more badass this or The Town, both played out the same way.
Den of thieves
This film is in my top ten all time.
1. No country for old men
2. Schindler’s list
3. Godfather II
4. Hell or high water
5. Donnie darko
@@jamesdavis-be9ri LA Confidential
Godfather I
City Of God--wow on that one.
Mine too
@@jamesdavis-be9ri Crimes and Misdemeanors
Great scene. And there's the writer/director Taylor Sheridan himself driving Jeff Bridges up to make that final shot.
Taylor Sheridan was the rancher they saw on the road during the brush fire. The fella that drove him and gave him the rifle was a different actor. 🙂
Underrated movie...amazing acting from everyone
This movie was so underrated!!! In so many aspects!
🤣
It was an old time western in a modern setting. A very good movie.
2:34 "hes got a rifle" sounds a lot like the GTA cop voice
You dump gas on your hands like that and light it your hands would literally burn up.
Fumes is what makes it dangerous. I've seen mofos change fuel filters with their bare hands and a smoke in their mouth
LiTeRaLlY
Not necessarily. Gas evaporates incredibly fast.
Not really. If there is not a huge amount, fumes will burn but hands won't be too burned or at all. I know from practice, as I set my hands on fire być accident after I spilled gasoline on them. No damage whatsoever.
@@Austin-dm1in He used it correctly.
Red shirt wasn’t the best fashion choice
This was a very well done movie.
Must of watched this several times and probably going to watch it later today
Awesome flick.
damn fine movie. glad I watched it.
Imagine if the car didn’t start after he got his ID back…
I was expecting that.
Me too. The cop asking him to step uot and open the hood so the cop could help. Would have been interesting.@@kiereluurs1243
Thought the same thing when he was cranking it. I even laughed. Would have gotten interesting real quick
Is anyone else here because of Nick Mullen's reenactment of Jeff Bridges?
Ruff ruff
Nah but now I'm gonna look it up. Also I'm gay.
I have watched this film so many times. Why it resonates so much with me remains a mystery.
Imagine if the police just drove around it
Most movies as these seem to not get the recognition they deserve.
I love this movie, but the truck rolling back in reverse for that distance and hitting its mark is to damn unrealistic. But boy, I love this movie. Jeff Bridges is at the top of his game here. Did I mention I love this movie?
You probably have that Texas spirit in you, sir.
@@DukeLitoAurelius Who'd have thunk it?
Add the two track in there, and it goes like a slot car. I know, I did it once with a rig tender and the bosses new pickup on snow. No explosion though.
There are two reactions to casualties on the two-way rifle range: utter shock and disbelief or indifference.
What's fascinating is you can imagine most scenes of this movie being played out a century earlier with older wild west technology.
When's Ben gonna get his due? One of the best actors for decades!
Not even the best sniper in the world can make a cold bore 500 yard shot with a new weapon with an unknown zero....regardless a really great film...Semper Fi
If he would have taken the Bronco out of park it would have been perfect.
Good Movie!
Great movie....
Great movie timeless awesome
LA MEJOR PELICULA DE 2016 DE LARGOOOO
😂 that checkpoint scene is hilarious ain’t no way
Cool movie, Chris Pine was awesome!
Good movie.
It reminds me of 'No country for old men'.
Taylor Sheridan definitely takes inspiration from Cormac Mccarthys work.
Only thing missing: Anton tossing a quarter, "Call it."
Best line of movie... I'm ready 4 this to be over...You'll never be over this son it will haunt you for the rest of ur days. U won't be alone though, it'll haunt me too
I always felt bad for Ben Foster's character, I can't hate him for this honestly.
this whole movie I wanted both them both to get away with it. But when this happened, I knew Tanner was going to get it
I like how at 2:00 they parked the car long ways across the road for that perfect Hollywood explosion.
Ben Foster did a great job in this movie btw
Who else thought his car wasn’t going to start???
there is something so redeeming about this; he knows he’s going to die; he is sacrificing himself for his brother…
That hole in the back of the rangers hat!
Its the MOVVVIIEESSS!
That left hand would SO be on fire.
Lotta snowflakes in these comments. Enjoy a movie ffs
To be fair, it's mostly just a single guy repeatedly commenting.
They voted democrat
We call.them.would be directors.
This would be a helluva double bill with "No Country For Old Men"!!
little trivia: Parker also played Ghostalker in real time strategy game Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun.
I loved that C&C game!!! And the movie
Damn. Dumped everything Parker was into his Stetson.
"No Country for Old Men" light.
That's not a dig! Great film.
That open bolt on that rifle is killing me… empty gun, empty head 😂😂😂
Someone is going to have a Bad day its Texas Rangers Time 😎
Specially if that bad day is in Uvalde amirite? They'll definitely show up there and not do nothing for an hour
Can’t wait to treat myself to a new Stetson straw hat next week. Can’t wait to wear it to the range all summer. Gonna be a fun season this year boys!
It's Called Cinema 🎥 🍿 Folks , real cinema 📽️
Americana Masterpiece!
This isn't accurate: the police in Texas are running towards the danger
Californian police haven't moved there yet
You know how I know you're a lib? Because you think you know things based off one incident. You're probably one of those "self defenders dont exist" guys 😂

Those police officers were not messing around....right until he said "have a nice day"
G.D. Bridges is monster 👺
"field dressed on top of my truck"
I like this Ford commercial
Why would the truck explode that quick lol
That ranger wasn’t going to do much shooting with no BCG IN THE AR15!!! lmfao.
This was when movies started going downhill drastically. This was the one of the last amazing movies I've seen. 90 or so minutes of beautiful storytelling mixed with amazing performances. Ben Foster was firing on all cylinders in this movie. Top 5 movie on my list.
3:40 that’s Taylor Sheridan 😂
That poor Ford Bronco
GOD damn right
We don't no trout here, just tbone steaks
Nick Mullen brought me here
Guy dies (hell or high water)
That makes me a Comanche !
This was a good movie but it was beyond obvious that Parker was going to die. Almost every scene with them was throughout the movie was some variation of “Well when I eventually get old enough to retire” or “Yea me and the missus are going to do such and such a few years down the line after I finally retire”
Essentially almost every version of the movie clichè “This dude definitely isn’t making it to the end of the movie”. Like the a scene in a Vietnam movie where that one squadmate talks about how when they “finally rotate back to the States” and then gets iced in the very next fire fight
I guess cool guys do look at explosions
The world's first F-150 molotov cocktail?
“It’s better to live one day as a Lion than 100 years as a sheep.”
One scene fascinated me. Guys stopping and talking while miles away it looks like the whole state is on fire. Nobody even pays attention. It's just a thing.
What´s the song he´s singing at the start?
I too was shocked when this happened. But the angle was wrong. Hit him in the left cheek from way high up it would have exited out his lower neck or upper back.
that's how you go out
The more you keep doing whatever right or wrong!
The end will eventually come to you!
The fact that the rifle the ranger had can easily reach out to the distance he was shot from is another inaccurate representation of the capability of the 5.56 round.
Taylor Sheridan…nuff said.
Man, broncos are cool.
I guess driving off the road sideways didn't occur to them. Like the dude in front of the steam roller in Austin Powers.
The cops couldn't trace Chris Pine’s blood in the car back to him and arrest him
This death was extremely realistic unfortunately
