Steve: Im a grown man, and my comment is a preference. I dont troll and play childish games on you tube. We all have our thing, yours is rockford and that works for you. As i said we all have our thing. we all have a love for car audio......
Love amp test Tuesday get a chance to show my son different amps he should have bought for his system. Thanks for everything you do got me back into car audio again after almost 15 yrs. of being out of it.
I appreciate you doing this. So many people get fooled into purchasing bad amps because of the false numbers they toss out. All be it peak numbers or just plain false to begin with. You're helping people out more than you know. Thanks again brother.
the actual reading is taken by the AD-1 right at the point it spits the number out. Each mode is a 15 second test, so when you see xxxx watts at (14.7v (for example), when it started at 15.5 or above, that is only because it took final readings at the END of the test. The 10a battery charger is not a big factor. It just keeps the 14v bank topped off. Some of the larger amps i am going to test soon will be ran directly out of the Tahoe, off my 4 alternators and 10 batteries. :)
nope. Im gonna test the good, the bad and the ugly. It's my channel, that's how i do it....how i wanna do it :) It's my opinion that people need to see that the cheap amps don't perform as claimed. It's also my opinion that i think the good companies should be praised. I do both because again, it is my channel. Thanks.
We weren't sure at first. But we determined he got his entry in before the time you said and his was closer than mine. So he won. I messaged him to email you. You are a great guy Steve.
i run all my RF amps @ .7 ohms. The thing is though, when a speaker moves, the impedance changes......so that could be anywhere from .7 to 2 or 3 ohms while it is playing music.
Wow, easily did rated! Good job DC Audio! Great test, these amp test Tuesday's are fun. Maybe do one on Tuesday night and stream it live and have people guess the ratings as you are testing...or battle, Sundown vs. DC vs. Skar or something (same rated wattage)
being a 10a intellicharger (not power supply), it really isn't affecting the outcome at all, other then the batteries get topped off in between runs. 10a on a 1200 watt amplifier isn't really shit, as you might know.
Very good work with this series. You definitely do a good job making sure there's no loose ends such as explaining your set up and why the system reads 15 Volts. I would love to see you test the Hifonics.
agreed Steve on the idea of sound. I run focal berilliums in the entire vehicle. All areas are sealed and tuned just right. Yes , your equiptment helps, but like you said it takes more than that. I think im 5 years into this project and tuning and damping are critical.
no it won't. It will go into protect or pop the fuses. The higher models of DC amps might be ok, i don't know, but i do know that this one does NOT like anything lower then .6, even in burst mode.
you forgot to watch the video where i clearly explained it. That little surface charge isn't making a big difference at all. They are just fully charged 14v batteries. A 10 second sinewave chews up that little surface charge up and spits it o ut.
Steve: I spoke to mathew at mechman, he has given me the information needed to fix my problem. Its nice to know that although I dont run Mechman, he is looking out. It also creates goodwill. Good company Mechman, great bunch of guys.
i didn't mean "blow you away" as in "beat you" or "win" something vs you.....i meant the sound itself would blow you away. There is a lot more to making a system sound good then JUST a brand name. It helps to have great equipment like RF and JL......and all the "trendy" "high end" names too.....but you STILL have to do the work to make them sound good. SQ is not plug and play.
the 1.2k didn't like .6 or .5 ohms. It blew the fuses @ .5 and protected at .6. Did good at .8 though. The other models i think can go down to .5, but i have not tested them so i cannot say for certain.
not sure, i was probably answering one of the 100's of people asking me to test "brand x" next - when i don't have "brand x" LOL. I can test anything i want but i am limited to what i have already and what i am willing to go to the store and buy, which isn't going to be anything expensive anyway.
inferior? this amp kicked ass. You want me to do kicker, jl, mtx....send them to me. I already did a oldschool soundstream. Not sure how a new one will do - i will keep my opinion on that to myself till i test one.
I'm sure he can get his hands on one of them but they're extremely rare in the USA. I have one of them pushing 4 MTX T810-22s in a sealed box @ 1 ohm. Amazing bass and sound quality.
i can tell you from almost 30 years doing this that your Pyramid amp has a 99.99999999 % chance of not being anywhere near its "rated" power. Sorry bro. I will do one eventually just to show everyone though, but im just giving you the heads up. Anyone over 25 years old probably agree's with me LOL :D
Depends on how much power you want or how many amps your planning on running. RF is Great quality and so its DC. If you only want 1 amp with alot of power (such as 5000 watts or more) id go with DC. Either way you cant go wrong with either choice.
what's that? the deck? i didn't look at the model number i just grabbed it off the shelf. Seems like a nice lil deck though! I like it better then the Kenwood i had in there. Now if the CD keeps ejecting smooth for a year and i don't have to use needle-nose to get my cd out, like the fucking kenwood, then we will be all good here! I am sorta glad i accidently roasted that thing because it was pissing me off. lol
i am a pretty cool guy and i have no idea what you are talking about other then that....and sorry, i am not open to the public, per say - this is my man cave, not my stereo shop. Sorry!
Always watching your amp tests so i know what to buy and what to stay away from. Looking to upgrade from my MTX 4501 it does 756 according to the birthsheet at 2 ohms. Honestly considering this dc audio now. Thank you steve dont stop being awesome...oh ya one other thing fuck the haters
I agree with you completely, I just would like to see what it actually is in one of your vids. I know a lot of people buy it for a "budget amp" I wonder which is the best amp on a budget.
Hey, I didn't understand what I saw in the video 'cause I don't know anything about amplifier etc.... But I wanted to say that your video looks really helpful and I respect that, here, have my like !
are you calling this amp junk? Also, before you comment, you should pay closer attention to the last 6 amp test tuesday video's so you don't look so foolish.
What a jump from 1 to 0.8 Ohms! Where did you get the idea to push it that little bit extra? And would it last long at 0.8, or would an amp eventually overheat?
If you go to clipping with the amplifier - it's not because of the pre-out signals. it's because the amp got to clipping by its DC rails. I would think the pre-out signals would play no part in this at this level and by this test.
This clearly shows almost 16 volts in several of these tests. Steve, can you make a small video explaining how your dyno works between each test? I love ya man but I really want to see what these amps do at 14 or possibly lower. Shouldn't it start at 14 and then drop during the test?
nope. This amp is on a small battery bank with just 3 D1400. They are 14v batts. You saw "almost 16v" because it is on a 15a trickle charger and i am topping them off in between runs. A 15a trickle charger on a 1200 watt + amp isn't contributing much at all once i pull it down. In reality, you are looking at 14.5 volts when it comes down to it, just like if your car was running. It's the closest i can get since i obviously can't have an alternator spinning on the side of my bench. I figured i wouldn't have to explain that since it is pretty obvious and i already explained it several times.
i can totally understand where everyone is coming from, they want to see it ALL tested! yeee! me too!...........but i am with you also Jesseloc - i can't pull 20 amps out of my ass at any givin time LOL :D
when i get my alt situation corrected ill post the entire ride. i put up that video just so you can see im not a kid with an amp and sub, but a true investment and a passion for perfection
I actually thought after seeing a few of your videos and knowing your from 916 you would be a pretty cool guy. I couldnt undetstand why you blew me off, when I just needed a couple wires upgraded. It is what it is though. I thought you were open to the public
@meade916, I tried to send you a message about the Amp Test Tuesday JBL I think. The forum said you couldn't receive messages. The winner was posted. Not trying to bug you or anything, just trying to let you know. It was the hat and stickers consolation prize. Thanks Steve.
Everybody wants the brutus lol I say test new gen PPI I've got a bk1800.1 and she rattles quite nicely. Mr. Meade you give my life meaning. Have at her
Steve. I would like to see a comparison of all the sheets you have done vs. the price of the amplifiers broken down to watts per dollar. I think it would be educational in the spirit of AmpTT
I was waiting for ATT to come out. I check earlier and I was sadden that it wasn't posted. Went out for dinner and the first thing I did when I got home? Check out the RUclipss for ATT! I like the new format. Surprised that amp did what it say it would do. Keep the ATT coming!
i don't get the "child" comment...that is just crazy talk. As far as me "calling out" or testing cheap amps, you might want to look at the previous 6 video's before you start typing. If you only knew how foolish it makes you guys look when you say that. Ive tested the powerful, the meek, and the WEAK. I don't just test the good ones. Please pay attention next time. Thanks.
Hey steve that is why i always look at ur vids. I have bought boss amps and i have always been interested on how many watts they put out keep posting all kinds of amp brands......
He says it's on a charger which increases the voltage but not much amperage from them. Maybe one day Steve can make a video showing 2 tests, one with the charger on and one with the batteries freshly topped up but the charge disconnected. so people who worry about it can see the actual effect it has.
Right on brutha, I was hoping you would test a DC amp soon and that amp sure did not disappoint, VERY NICE!! Are those amps made here in the Reno area? Another AWESOME amp test and many mahalos as always!!
Good video and decent amp. How about a RF T1500-1BDCP... would be interesting to see how the AD-1 measurements compare to the RF Power Verification Certificate.
I've got an alpine mrp-m2000 on a ported RE Audio SXX 10 dual 2ohm running at 4ohm. Would love to see that amp tested to see what it could really do.......IF you just happen to have one lying around in that bomb ass shop. You're the man Steve :)
Thanks for everything you do got me back into car audio again after almost 15 yrs. of being out of it.
because it went right into protect. Once your speakers get moving, they aren't .5 ohms anymore, hate to break that to you.
Steve,
I love this new series. Keep the original content coming. You do great work and are about honesty which seems to be rare these days.
I appreciate you doing this. So many people get fooled into purchasing bad amps because of the false numbers they toss out. All be it peak numbers or just plain false to begin with. You're helping people out more than you know. Thanks again brother.
that was on a dynamic burst test. It is still RMS but a little easier on the amplifier due to the nature of the test.
between RF and JL, the only difference in SQ is going to be your install. They both make quality products.
I'm loving amp test Tuesday! Hope it keeps going for a while!
the actual reading is taken by the AD-1 right at the point it spits the number out. Each mode is a 15 second test, so when you see xxxx watts at (14.7v (for example), when it started at 15.5 or above, that is only because it took final readings at the END of the test. none of that matters. That is what the gain is for. Gains were set before i started.
YES!!! you finally put the music to the tests like I mentioned a few vids back!! Banging!!!!!!!! Adds a super smooth touch to the vids!
nope. Im gonna test the good, the bad and the ugly. It's my channel, that's how i do it....how i wanna do it :) It's my opinion that people need to see that the cheap amps don't perform as claimed. It's also my opinion that i think the good companies should be praised. I do both because again, it is my channel. Thanks.
I like the new edits. I liked the old style but watching a complete setup of the dyno every time took patience. Keep up the good work.
We weren't sure at first. But we determined he got his entry in before the time you said and his was closer than mine. So he won. I messaged him to email you. You are a great guy Steve.

for the money not worth the power it does can get way better power for same cost
You literally explained this in detail in the video...
Keep the awesome videos comin, man!
being a 10a intellicharger (not power supply), it really isn't affecting the outcome at all, other then the batteries get topped off in between runs. 10a on a 1200 watt amplifier isn't really shit, as you might know.

smoked the fuses at .5 protected at .6
Steve: I spoke to mathew at mechman, he has given me the information needed to fix my problem. Its nice to know that although I dont run Mechman, he is looking out. It also creates goodwill. Good company Mechman, great bunch of guys.
this amp goes straight into protect on the 16v battery bank. The larger DC amps can do it but not this model.
i run high end RF in my Lex and it will blow you away - but then again i have lots of tuning time in also.
i didn't mean "blow you away" as in "beat you" or "win" something vs you.....i meant the sound itself would blow you away. There is a lot more to making a system sound good then JUST a brand name. In behalf of all car audio junkies. Thanks for this work, you're doing for us. Love amp test Tuesday.
Glad to see the DC amp living up to the hype. I have a 3.5k in my truck on two level 4 12" subs
don't get your hopes up bro - Ill do a PA amp someday but it's gonna break some hearts when the results come in.
not sure, i was probably answering one of the 100's of people asking me to test "brand x" next - when i don't have "brand x" LOL. I can test anything i want but i am limited to what i have already and what i am willing to go to the store and buy, which isn't going to be anything expensive anyway.
i thought so too, thanks for noticing :D
i also explained why that is IN THE VIDEO. thanks!
inferior? this amp kicked ass. You want me to do kicker, jl, mtx....send them to me. I already did a oldschool soundstream. Not sure how a new one will do - i will keep my opinion on that to myself till i test one.
nope because the gains were set properly before the test started.

i actually was sick during part of this video. I shot part of it last week and then i had to wait about 3 days till i could talk again. :D
Amp test Tuesday always brightens my day. Goooood stuff!!
please pay attention to the video before trying to act smart. Thanks.
The honey badger put the boots to that dc amp and it passed with flying colors :-) amp test Tuesdays are fun to watch :-)
Depends on how much power you want or how many amps your planning on running. RF is Great quality and so its DC. If you only want 1 amp with alot of power (such as 5000 watts or more) id go with DC. Either way you cant go wrong with either choice.
please re-watch the video.
NICE amp there Steve! Well done mate - nice cut with the vid too. Much quicker pace.
sure i did, because everyone in the history of car audio thinks their amp does rated. The cold truth hurts some times.
what's that? the deck? i didn't look at the model number i just grabbed it off the shelf. Seems like a nice lil deck though! I like it better then the Kenwood i had in there. how about checking out last weeks Amp Test Tuesday before typing anything else? :) :D

That was a SOLID dyno test!!!
This just proves you get what you pay for DC is a solid company diffidently worth the money.
Thanks for the vid man! Amp test Tuesday is the best!
some weeks i might skip a week or two. If i am in the mood to do it though i will :) thanks!
I agree with Chris hunter. I too would like to understand the ohms more.
I really appreciate these videos I like the way you are you doing these videos please keep them coming Thanks
easier then scribbling it on paper each time :D got tired of doing that every time :D
What a jump from 1 to 0.8 Ohms! Where did you get the idea to push it that little bit extra? And would it last long at 0.8, or would an amp eventually overheat?
I love the amp review videos Steve great info and a ton of helping when deciding on an amp.
yesterday it was.
yeah i guess your right the 9k's ive seen ran down to .35 i tried running my 5k's that low and went into protect..
If you go to clipping with the amplifier - it's not because of the pre-out signals. it's because the amp got to clipping by its DC rails. I would think the pre-out signals would play no part in this at this level and by this test.

i can totally understand where everyone is coming from, they want to see it ALL tested! yeee! me too!...........but i am with you also Jesseloc - i can't pull 20 amps out of my ass at any givin time LOL :D
already knew dc audio would hold up their reputation
Nice editing Steve. Getting pro ;) love the tuesday amp tests. Get a good bang for your buck on that 1.2k keep it up Steve. :-) Big fan from Norway..
Next is a audiopipe mini 1500 watt amp. Id be curious if they do there power. some people have got them do there full power. Good shit steve!
Love the amp dyno tests by the way!
when i get my alt situation corrected ill post the entire ride. i put up that video just so you can see im not a kid with an amp and sub, but a true investment and a passion for perfection
You are the man Steve I love your videos I been a fan for years
Nice talking with you bro. I didnt mean to come off in a bad way. i dont like social networking. Im 38 we come from the same era , old school. :)
I actually thought after seeing a few of your videos and knowing your from 916 you would be a pretty cool guy. I couldnt undetstand why you blew me off, when I just needed a couple wires upgraded. It is what it is though. I thought you were open to the public
hell ya bro glad you like :)
Steve, Thanks for taking the time out of your day to perform these test. Whats your opinion on Kicker amps?
You listed the final stats of 0.8 as 14.4v, but it was running at 16v, what gives? Still, great test.
sure, if i had one.
@meade916, I tried to send you a message about the Amp Test Tuesday JBL I think. The forum said you couldn't receive messages. The winner was posted. Not trying to bug you or anything, just trying to let you know. It was the hat and stickers consolation prize. Thanks Steve.

Dope!! that commercial at 1:25 made me hungry
you are the man.... need some AUDIOPIPE amp tests
Steve. I would like to see a comparison of all the sheets you have done vs. the price of the amplifiers broken down to watts per dollar. I think it would be educational in the spirit of AmpTT
Love this series man! Keep up the good work!
his amp dyno rig doesn't need high the high pre outs, have you seen his video on the rig? its quite a rig
Have you ever thought of buying a Excurion limited to put all of the speakers and amps you want in!
I was waiting for ATT to come out. I check earlier and I was sadden that it wasn't posted. Went out for dinner and the first thing I did when I got home? Check out the RUclipss for ATT! I like the new format. Surprised that amp did what it say it would do. Keep the ATT coming!

Awesome idea these amp test tuesdays thank you for doing them
enough said n seen! DC Audio puts out what they say not just some cheap ass lie!
my next system gonna be DC Audio!
Hey steve that is why i always look at ur vids. I have bought boss amps and i have always been interested on how many watts they put out keep posting all kinds of amp brands......
sure it is possible, if i had one. Thanks! :)
He says it's on a charger which increases the voltage but not much amperage from them. Maybe one day Steve can make a video showing 2 tests, one with the charger on and one with the batteries freshly topped up but the charge disconnected. so people who worry about it can see the actual effect it has.
i can predict with 80% accuracy that you will NOT like the outcome of that test.
Might I suggest a Punch 150HD? One of my all time favorite amps. If you can scare one up!
I've got an alpine mrp-m2000 on a ported RE Audio SXX 10 dual 2ohm running at 4ohm. Would love to see that amp tested to see what it could really do.......IF you just happen to have one lying around in that bomb ass shop. You're the man Steve :)
no offense bro but why.....or a better question HOW would anyone here be able to help you? Call Sound Quebed, or whatever the new name is now.
