Beyond the creativity of presentation, it's also great from a Paleontological perspective. All of the discovered species are twists on actual extinct species with cool speculative evolution ideas.
That also makes some parts even cooler, e.g. the Tea Lily isn't a plant but an animal that's taken up a plant's role. Crinoids are relatives of starfish.
Yeah. It was so interesting to see it stick to some real grounded speculative biology. So cool to see
The Dig is one of the best point and click adventure games of all time, I kept thinking of it during this S.C.P. so hearing you mention it at the end was very cool.
I still think the Myst series beats it out, but only unless you break it up into sub-categories and are going for a more sci-fi/action angle as supposed to pure puzzle solving.
It definitely depends on what the player is looking for. Both do a phenomenal job of showing what different designs of a point-and-click game can do. Obsidian is one of my own favorites, a "Myst clone" at its core but a perfect mix of puzzle, storyline, and uniqueness.
The Dig is excellent, it's a shame that so many people dislike it just because it hasn't got the jokes of Monkey Island or Indiana Jones.

Huh. Y’know, despite the possible “bad endings” this one was…refreshingly mundane from a story perspective. Love the presentation, and honestly love the “yea sometimes anomalies aren’t world ending or catastrophic, sometimes they’re just *there*.” Vibe of it all.
I love how simple this article is. In other SCP tales, u hear researchers talk about how mundane their day to day work is JUST before an apocalypse but this experience kinda sells to me the idea that it's not all drama all the time. Sometimes, they have to just sit around and look at stuff until help comes.
I think the canon is the researcher did survive. While there a number of article with why is this guy even hired, we would not be getting anything contain if every personnel is like that.
I have been litteraly looking for this scp article for so long I never got to finish the gane when I first came across it
I think what makes this memorable is that - at least in the first ending - she actually survives, learns some new things and the SCP ISN'T the end of the world
Honestly, the way this one is presented goes WAY far into making it one of my favorites ever. So well done, and I have to applaud IronShears.
This reads almost exactly like a Warren Fahy novel, with a cave full of unknown creatures that have created their own biome over hundreds of millions of years.
I really like SCPs that are games. Makes me nostalgic for the free companion games you could download for Cat Ghost, they were really creepy.
Been a while since I looked into the SCP wiki. When I checked this SCP out, I wasn't expecting a cool browser game.

The SCP universe is actually a pretty good fit for adventure games. Anomalies are inherently puzzly in nature, there's always something that has to be "solved", and there's a lot of story that can be delivered through dialogue or documents in a way that doesn't feel forced.
Definitely don’t want to just click on everything in a SCP point and click game.

Found it on the "recent highly rated" section a while back, played through it, just about had a manic fit when I realized what the animals were.

I like the skip and the point/click format. But what really excites me are all the amazing creatures in this story. The tea lilies are actually a species of crinoid, not plant at all. And a terrestrial radiodont is amazing. I want to know everything about this ecosystem! Conodonts and euryptids and trilobites, oh my!

Now here's a story that tuned out to be a lot of nothing. Which was a lot of something. For once, it was not about the anamoly being the main focus. In fact we really don't know what it is
Could Ordovician creatures live in today's world,? What was the air like then? Could someone from today live in the Ordovician? Would creatures from the Ordivician find modern poisonous or even palatable and vice-versa?
I wonder if the spacial anomaly is also temporally anomalous. The "new" species being discovered are actually ecolved versions of the older, already discovered ones.

Me when a new scp vid is posted (iv watched all of them)
Reminds me of the old *Infocom Games* as in their *Zork Series* of I, II, & IIV that were all texted based where you'd needed to use them to unlock the puzzles, ie *Light* the candle, *Read* the book, *Ring* the bell. _You've unlocked the door_ ... You first needed to find the items in the area around you to be able to open the locked door... finding one part needed in a hollow of an old oak tree, etc. ...and if you didn't use them in the right order a gust of wind would blow out your candle stopping you from reading the book.
A good thing about the games is that you could get away with playing them in school or work since they were all text based they had not graphics. And I'd bet they're public domain, because of their age of over 50 years. And yes if you see them they'd still be worth playing if you like to read and solve puzzles.
