Just found one for my 9th grader at goodwill with no batteries for $35. And after an Amazon search for a battery and charger, it turns out it works! Kinda stoked. Glad I didn’t fork out hundreds for a first camera. We’ll see how she does with it.
Thanks for the review, just got mine from a second hand store and I’m pretty excited to use it. Btw, the first second of the video with the “ohw, Hi!” Are one of the best intros I’ve ever seen
Quite true! I miss the days when nearly every digital camera had a viewfinder! Especially for those bright sunny days that make the live view LCD kinda challenging to use.
Whats the best setting for a high school football game in the evening from the bleachers. Im a parent and beginner. Id like to do video and pics.....Thanks
I would start with Auto mode just to get an idea of what that does, and then next, I would try Tv" (Time value (AKA Shutter-speed Priority) mode. This allows you to select a shutter speed that's fast enough to stop the action- or slow it down for a blurred effect- while the camera adjusts other settings, such as aperture. You can adjust this to create some pretty nifty photos.
I think either would work great! The a900 used is about double the price of the sx530. I would lean toward the a900 because of it’s more compact size and still great 35x zoom
I think you could go either way, in fact, cameradecision (an informal ranking based on optical performance, etc) has them tied: cameradecision.com/compare/Canon-PowerShot-SX530-HS-vs-Nikon-Coolpix-P520 The SX530 optical zoom is slightly better at 50x vs 42X on the Nikon. I think that the video capability on the SX530 is a bit better too based on my personal experience, so I might just lean Canon SX530 slightly.
Thank you for the great review! I currently own a canon powershot sx540 and considering a upgrade to the sx70. Can you do a review with sample images for a sx70?
Very cool, I've shot with the SX530 and SX540 quite a bit. I don't currently have an SX70 to do sample image review, but from my experience, the shooting capability is nearly identical APART from the extended optical zoom range, which does bring in some light astrophotography options (with a good tripod!) Another cool camera too look at is the Panasonic FZ80, great optical range there too
Just got one for less than a 100 bucks, planning some bird watching this spring/summer and for this price range i think its a perfect basic camera (no no for videos, truth be told)
Its a lovely little camera. Im lucky to have one. I recommend saving up a little and getting a sx70 or nikon p1000 instead. But for budget cameras, i couldnt find a better one than this sx530.
I am very disappointed with this model, cuz we can't record out using HDMI to any software. and there is no way around to make it happen. canon should make that HDMI useful for the powers hot sx530 model. thanks for nothing canon.

I'm looking for one myself. This side they pricey. Help a brother out.

Thank you kindly! Hope it's working out well for you!
Thanks for posting 👍
Just the breakdown that I was looking for. Think I'll start using my Powershot again. Just been sitting in the drawer.
Very cool!
This video was very nice!! Pls do more I have this camera and no clue how to use
I’ve got the model after the SX530-the SX540 with 20MP and I can capture some awesome pics with it!
Nice! Yeah, they are quite similar, just a few small differences. Great optical zoom!
I was gifted one and hated it ! Now I realize I probably don't have it set up properly. Thanks for posting 👍
I’m about to do film photography with how this camera takes pictures it should be perfect for converting negatives 👀
Kann das Objektiv bei der Sx530 ausgetauscht werden?
Great video! Thx!!
Thanks Richard!
You could benefit a lot from a lavalier mic. Sound quality would skyrocket! I recommend boya by-m1 if on a budget or a sony one.
Love it. Just wish it had a view finder. I have to completely trust the auto focus with my eyesight and glasses.

Can you use this camera as a webcam?

Can you compare Nikon A900 and SX530? Which one would you recommend for travel photography ?

Hey, I'm torn between this one and the P520 from Nikon. Which one is the best?

@@pricklypearcamera thank you very much!
Are you able to tell me what mode is best for sports (basketball)? Manual? Idk
Do you know what is the size of the lens cap of that camera?
I *believe* the lens cap size is about 58mm, but there are exact Canon sx530' lens caps on eBay in the $5-8 range
Can you add an adapter to use interchangeable lenes?
No interchangeable lenses, but there are aftermarket magnifying filters.

Microphone?
The SX530 unfortunately doesn't have a microphone jack.
What of a new cord adapted, or the new Bluetooth mics.? Idk
@@Icebluehalo Sorry, this won't work to my knowledge.

Very cool! I think it would do a more than serviceable job with good light!
can you add lenses to this camera, im still new to using it and am unsure. also, if you are able to do that, which ones would you recommend?
No
You can’t add lenses to it unfortunately
can this camera be used for webcam
No
Do a comparison to ev10 sony
Is it good for insect photography? If not whats a budget friendly camera to capture insects?
Hey, yes, it has a macro mode that does well for that type of shot! I have taken quite a few bee pictures with the sx530 on my rosemary bush flowers.
@@pricklypearcamera Thank u!
How’s the camera audio?
It's fair I would say. Tiny like microphone built into the camera, no microphone jack.
👍👍👍👍!!!
Yeah 100$ for this. With time you can take some really nice none noise photos.
Yes, it really is a good value if you can find it used for a good price! Thanks for the comment!
