This was very helpful. New to ranching and fence repair. Good to see a comprehensive explanation. Most tutorials cut corners in explaining details. Most men often don’t want to address difficulties. Make things look easier than they are. Good job

What a find! I have the same old stretchers and fence pliers and I hadn't used them in forever and was forgetting some things about how to use them! Thanks so much for showing me how to correctly and confidently use it again! Now for a nice long stretch! Thank God for RUclips! 😀

I like using a Come Along for stretching an entire strand of wire. Also, when you’re wrapping the wire around the post, you can use a small crowbar to really get the wire tight around it. If you’re worried about it slipping loose while you’re wrapping it around again, you can use a staple to hold it in place.

For these tie off posts, having diagonal braces keeps the tension on trhe fence from pulling the post too much sideways, and helps keep a tight fence.

Run a 2ft tag off the post with med tensile plain wire, strain up the main wire and make a small loop and terminate loop, pull the plain wire through the loop and terminate that, if you ever need to re-tension the small length of plain wire is easily replaced and main line pulled tought again.

We operate a 200 head ranch, but we rotation graze so we have quite a few cross fences to maintain. Unfortunately it's quite the challenge to keep nice fence lines due to the trees and rocks. Thanks for stopping by and commenting!!!
