Tractor Supply should put you on payroll. I bought the wire after watching your video and have used this technique a few dozen times. It has saved me hours of time and my neighbor is now using this technique. Great video!
I watched a few videos for some fresh ideas. Yours is by far the best no splicing etc. Why make it any harder than it is. My personal philosophy is to not make work for myself. And it needs to look like it never happened. Smooth and clean repairs for looks. You practice the "KISS" method. Just like I do. I have done it by pinching wire with the tip of fencing pliers and twiisting it to tighten wire.
Thanks brother. New to the life but trying to learn. This will surely help me tighten up the fence in the pasture. Needs to be done and no one's done it, so ima do it.
I had 2 dead trees fall on my fence& 1 tree that fence was mounted on was cut by some vandal. I spent nearly 3 hours today trying to tighten the wires. I started by trying to use twisting tool. At 70, I don't have strength I used to, so I went & got come a long. Fence been there too long! I am going out to try your tip. Got too much to fix & dark coming on. Thank you!
The reason most wire gets loose is how it’s wrapped around the corners. Most folks wrap twice around corner post with no tension on that part of the wire. When you take the stretcher off all the tension goes to the corner wrap and loosens over time. Best way is when you build new fence pull the wire from the back of a tractor or truck and staple wire to post as you tightly wrap it around corner post. All wire will loosen over time but not as bad if you get those corners really well stretched and stapled.
Just my $.02 If I was making one of those tools that has the holes in it, I would make the top hole the size to fit the wire used most often, your 12 gage wire hole was your bottom one.
Angela Janson it is called a DARE wire twisting tool I believe. I got mine at tractor supply for about $3 I think but you can get them anywhere pretty cheap. They are pretty nice.
Hey everyone! I put links in the video description for the tools I used in this video. I would highly recommend having a set in every vehicle and 4wheeler that you use on the farm. Make sure you go check those out.
I have used claw hammers before to tighten the fence. Hook the claw on the fence and twist. It is not pretty and it probably weakens the fence. Your way looks better.
The principle is the same but whether or not it would work I don’t know for sure I know that some wires are more brittle than others and will break easier. Sorry I wasn’t much help
Here's another great fencing tip that I think everyone should know Check out the link below. ruclips.net/video/IGpwMkyBjPU/видео.htmlsi=tj64BmzfPqFkbIm-
Wire fence tool But I'm not real sure But if you type that in on Google you should see what I was using. I'm sure you could find both of these tools in any tractor supply Or farm store
.75 cents ea. Some body done seen ye-a c0ming! Lol, Great vid tho & be careful that barbed wire is like yellow pages it will reach out and touch you/or someone you knowq!!!
First thing, invest in American wire. The Chinese junk is poor and will always stretch-break. Look at a Texas Fence Fixer for a nice clean mend. An American quality product.

What is that little metal bar with holes that you used to twist the cable? I'm trying to find it but I don't know the name. Thanks for the video.
3 hole Wire twister.
Your cows are like where’s my hay? Where’s my corn?
Great video...but i think you put the tpost clip on upside down
Great tip!

What tools are you using for this? I love it! I'm just not sure what the tools are called.
I have only ever heard it called fencing pliers.
The other tool is called a 3 hole Wire twister.
Sorry It took so long to get Back with you

Can you do an updated dated video to this , its hard to see exactly what your doing with your hands please.
Yes I will and there is a amazon link for the tools I'm using as well.
I will try to get that video out as soon as possible. Thanks for the comment
God bless
Can this work with a particularly extra loose fence? Can you just keep turning until it tightens as much as you would like?
You can tighten it A pretty good bit. But I've never tested it to its max.
you can also just go along and bend a few 90s in the wire
@@danthedewman1 Yup and 3 weeks later, a cow will push it back out.
Sure...and in doing this you score / cut the wire. Next time you bend it it will breck !
hi there. would the tightening method work on tightening #8 wires?
The principle is the same but whether or not it would work I don’t know for sure I know that some wires are more brittle than others and will break easier. Sorry I wasn’t much help
What’s that second tool that isn’t necessary called
I believe it's just called a 3 whole wire twister I got mine at tractor supply
@@johnscarboroughregenerativ7240 you sir, are a life saver, god bless you and thank you!
Bubba doesn't need any of those fancy tools!
I would like to see a video. Thanks

ruclips.net/video/IGpwMkyBjPU/видео.html
Just tried it and broke the wire
If you are using cheap barbed wire or old barbed wire it is more likely to brake. You also made me twisting it too many times

You really should take care of the noxious weeds before making a video! "multiflora rose"
🤣
You talk to much.
Wow some people. If you would actually listen you mite learn something.
Awesome video John. Thanks for the info 👍
