    This is it! If you're going to swim a lot, this is the no. 1 way to avoid shoulder problems. I though I had good rotation but now my shoulders are shot and I miss swimming so much.

    That's quite a bit of thorax rotation. Should this be applied for sprint only? Feels like it could be a "sinking" factor for distance swimming?

    His wrong rotation swimming is still so much better than what I can do... 😢 I watch all these videos then get in the pool and am still extremely slow. It's hard to put into practice when your muscle memory from years of bad technique is messing you up... still love swimming though.

      Just keep in mind that he's wearing fins. So most of his propulsion is from the legs. That's what gave the impression of such a smooth gliding through the water with very relaxed arm rotation.

    This is really helpful- focusing on the full rotation engages more of the pec and lat muscles in the pull saving undue stress on the shoulder muscles- you can tweak it based on sprinting vs. long distance swimming.

    Honestly i rly don't like that "Correct rotation". Your recovery hand is basically straight. Its good for sprinting but anything else i cant imagine anyone swimming longer distances with straight hand recovery. It would be nice to see some pro/coach comment on that but it look rly awkward for me.

    Its a bit misleading I think.. do you mean the shoulder should lead the rotation... isn't that for sprinters only? I am just 2 year into freestyle and 34 year old masters swimmer trying to get better at sprinting....my coach told me to focus on my hip rotation and forget the shoulder driven style for now..he said expert sprinters (like you) already rotate their hips very well..so when they say/show their shoulder driven..it can feel misleading to newbies. His tip was t t to first learn to rotate on the hips properly and use the hip driven style..then do the shoulder driven stuff. I think its practical and I got good results with learning to rotate the hips first..if I did directly as you do, I would injure my lower back

    • @yangzhang5870
      @yangzhang5870 3 месяца назад

      This has less to do with shoulder vs hip-driven rotation. He's rotating from the shoulder only in both. In the correct rotation, his shoulders stay in the same plane

    • @rothgonch1174
      @rothgonch1174 3 месяца назад

      the drill tourniquete , screw, mean like you said, must be a natural rotation no only shoulders work and the only no movement piece its head, showld be straight to inline upper body and keep it the most consistent over water with a fluent breathing its what let ore floate effectively
