    12 years ago I lost my twin sister very unexpectedly, which was a major eye opener….. I realized materialistic things were not of importance and I needed to live my life to the fullest as if each day was my last. So I began to travel, it lasted for over 5 years. Sold my car, furniture (I was renting an apartment) and put my sentimental stuff in storage. I spent most of my time traveling the Hawaiian islands and parts of Japan. It felt absolutely wonderful and freeing not paying rent, utilities, car insurance, etc…. I met amazing people from all over the world that I’m still friends with. Personally I think everyone should travel as much as possible. There’s a big beautiful world out there and life is too short to not go see it!

    I just turned 60, but have been trying to declutter my house since 55. I recently was let go from a job end of March... it was bitter sweet, loved the work, but the organizational culture, abysmal, poor leadership. It is a relief... in the job search at my age lol but, yes, I have that same mentality of "you can't take your stuff with you." I have raised two sons who are in their mid to high 20's, ones moved out and my youngest is still with me, but I never really see him as he is not really home much. Children are expensive which is why I only wanted two. My boys were 3 sport athletes, travel fee for their teams and college is no joke.... with all that said, good luck to you, girl and safe travels. I need to getting busy living 💕

    So jealous! You are living the life. I'm single, no kids and I work to travel. I'd love to meet somebody that would be able to do that too. Nope, not rich, but have a job that allows me to work as much as I need to save for travel and pull back when I need and take off as much time as I want. I'm 55 and see myself retiring in a place like Thailand where I can live like a Queen on social security unlike being in the US. I go on cruises as my "beach vacation"... I never get off the ship either... the ship is my destination.. I lay by the pool all day, sip cocktails, read and just relax. Going on the Wonder of the Seas in October. Love it!!!
    Our culture is all about stuff... that is not life.. .living is about experiences and creating memories. Too much stuff = no freedom.

      So true, can't take our stuff with us and you are right, too much stuff = no freedom. I haven't been on the Wonder of the Seas yet. OMGosh I can't wait to go to Thailand. Someday that's where hubby and I plan to visit too. You are so right, everything we read shows how affordable you can live there compared to here in the USA. My mother in law's social security barely covers her rent here in the USA. It's ridiculous. In South America where we go often, we go to the local fruit and veggie market and literally get a WEEK'S worth of produce for only $20 USD. I can make fresh pressed juices multiple times a day over there and not go broke. Here in the USA, it's almost $20 just to make 1 fruit/veggie drink. It's insane. So much to see and experience in the rest of the world. Hope you have the BEST time EVER on your cruise! 💜

      @@GracefulBeautyWithSheri I think it is a bad choice to not own anything you are just wasting your money

    • @GracefulBeautyWithSheri
      @GracefulBeautyWithSheri  Год назад +2

      @AmietheSDREALTOR hi Amie, I am a Realtor also and an investor. So is my husband (for over 30 years). Nah not a bad choice at all...especially in this market. We sold 5 of our properties when the market was the highest in South Florida so trust me, we are doing just fine. We don't live off the monies from the sales of our real estate. We mainly live off my husband's retirement. We do plan to buy again when we're ready to settle down someday. But we may buy in another country. Not sure where we'll live but I know as Realtors we always encourage people that owning property is important but in reality, it is not, especially when you travel the world and no need to pay HOAs, utilities, insurance etc and when hurricanes come and you're out traveling, the fear of your homestead being destroyed is not fun. Our home was directly on the beach. We loved it but boy was it nerve wracking every hurricane season. Also values of the properties we sold have remained steady and some declined already so if we had continued to own, we would have lost a lot of money by now with overhead expenses while traveling. Owning is great for younger couples looking to build wealth and stay put and have tax write offs, but for nomads and people like us who even live in other countries for sometimes 6 months at a time, it is not cost effective or wise financially. Now if someone sells it all and then spends it all, then that is also not wise. But we are quite frugal and have not touched a single penny from the sale of our properties. My husband receives 2 pensions and multiple investments (and will soon collect early social security LOL) and I also have an income so that's what we live on and we live within our means. Owning a home isn't necessary for everyone. The only sorta negative part is we now don't get to itemize on taxes anymore and we used to be able to write off our tithes and offerings. But without owning a home, the IRS doesn't even allow those write offs, which kinda sucks but that's ok. I'll still give my 10% to the Lord because it's His anyways.🤗 Hope that helps clarify for ya. 💜

    Some of the elderly do that in Hawaii. A 10 day cruise cost one person $1,200 and it’s a lot cheaper than an elderly home which can cost $6-8,000 a month so 30 days at $1,200= $3,600 plus you always have a doctor and nurse on board plus it includes food. So you don’t have a water, internet and electric bill. And when she needs to see her doctor she will take an u er to and from the ship. So no car payment or depending on children who all live away from her. Makes so much sense plus she meets people from around the world.

    35 sunscreens!!! I love how you guys are traveling and your lifestyle. It is very much some thing that I would like to share this video with my husband so he can listen. I have my house here in Highland California that’s paid for. My husband has a house in Louisiana that’s not paid for. But we want to acquire some property or a place to live besides the United States. So we’re entertaining the ideas of traveling around and possibly looking at property in Argentina or Portugal. Italy is too complicated, but I am Italian and I do speak the language. But how interesting that you guys are on back to back cruises on a boat. Sailing doesn’t blow my skirt that much but I get why you’re doing it and how you’re doing it. I can be frugal, but I’d have to pair down a lot of my clothing! Anyway, I’m gonna let my husband listen to your video because this really impressed me. I’d like to see more and more. I’d like to see your next cabin. And besides reading a book on the boat and seeing the vast ocean, what else to do on the boat? How do you control your weight with all that free food? It’s really not free. You paid for it in the price of your cabins.

      @@GracefulBeautyWithSheri Depends on what you guys wanna do. Hurghada or Marsa Alam if you enjoy beaches, swimming or scuba diving.
      Cairo & Giza museum tour & the traditional pyramid visit is a must. If you enjoy historical sites then Luxor & Aswan (queen & kings Valley, variety of temples etc) and you can even take a nile cruise between the both of them.
      If you enjoy camping & mountaineering then you need to visit Sharm El Sheikh (there are beaches there too & more of a boho vibe) and climb mount st. Catherine.

I cruise also, from the bedroom to the kitchen, bath and my favorite stop is the living room... LOL. I, like you, will go to great lengths not to shop. I have had friends that could shop till they drop. I usually in a nice way have to tell them if you want a friend to shop with, I'm not that friend. I have what I think is quite a bit of skin care, but I find it confusing the more I have how to pair them up. Since you have so many products, do you alternate a lot? With using the Dermalec can you skip separate VC's and certain acids and how often do you use it. Can it be used the same night as tretinoin? Stay blessed, safe and continue enjoying your journey through life. Like you said, we're not going to be taking stuff with us in the end.

    Oh gosh, so inspiring to free of STUFF. BUT for things like your mattress, family pictures or winter wardrobe.... where do you keep that? Do you spend $$ to keep those things in a storage unit? What about mail? P.O. box? Im retired too and I have a dream to rent my little property as much as possible (I live at the beach) and travel during the time it's rented out. This would allow me to generate money to take care of maintenance, property taxes and utilities.

      We have a small 10x10 storage unit in Florida with our mattress and essentials. But we got rid of everything else. For mail, we send everything to Texas at my Mother in Laws home but I don't get much mail anymore since I stopped almost all paper statements with the bank and receive mail online mostly. But there is a way you can set up mail via online if you're a nomad. There is a fee but I've seen it online and you can have the service open your mail if you need it opened etc. I think you only pay for when you have them open the mail, otherwise you don't pay. I think it's fairly affordable. I'd just google how nomads do it and I'm sure it will pop up. It's actually quite nice not dealing with mail anymore. Most of it is junk mail anyways. LOL

    • @coffeebeforemascara
      @coffeebeforemascara Год назад

      @@GracefulBeautyWithSheri Fascinating about the mail service. Yeah, I don't receive any bills by mail anymore except perhaps that one primary care doctor I have that STILL doesn't have a patient portal yet...lol. I would need a small storage unit too. Dang! Your makeup collection must be, well, not a collection! You must have just the essentials that you can pack in your suitcase and that's it.... I'd have to pare down my 30 eyeshadow palettes to just what I REALLY use. 👀. This makes me give second thoughts to buying the next fabulous makeup thing.... again, turning down the dial on commercialism and 'stuff'.

    • @GracefulBeautyWithSheri
      @GracefulBeautyWithSheri  Год назад

      Oh no, I've read a couple reviews where people said that. It's never happened to me. But are you referring to product suddenly not pumping out when you push it out like normal but you know product is still inside? If that happens in those type of pumps put your finger OVER the holes where it comes out and keep it there (like make an airtight seal) while you press down to pump it and keep pumping while you cover the hole tight and it will end up coming out after a few pumps. it just bleeds out the air that's there and kinda resets a pump bottle. It can happen in any type of airless pump bottle. But I'm not sure if that's what you are saying happened. But if that ever happens again on any of your skincare bottles, try that and it should fix it. I wish companies would make that more clear. Those type of bottles are necessary because you don't want air or light getting near the product but golly that's a lot of money wasted if someone doesn't know how to correct it. I hope you still have the bottle to try to fix it. Also next time anything like that happens, call the company (not where you bought it but the actual brand) and they will help you too. 💜
