The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Diana Ross had worked very hard to become Diana Ross by 1969. As we know she was getting ready to fly high, which still have people bitter. The Supremes went on to have a good career in the 70s and Diana Ross was added to the list of Superstars.

If you HAD been there, you would have known that the name was only changed for about "15 minutes" before Diane Left the group. The original trio had already recorded 10 of their 12 number 1's BEFORE the name change. Finally, until the day that Diane left and the name was changed back, it was never DIANA ROSS and The Supremes. For that short time, it was only ever "Diana Ross and THE SUPREMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" WOW, after all these years a new never before seen clip of the Supremes is posted on You Tube, and WHAT A CLIP! This is a truly stellar performance of the Broadway classic. The Supremes performed this showstopper as part of their stage act. They performed the song in November that same year during their Royal Command Performance in London before Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, Princess Margaret Prince Charles and Princess Anne. Unfortunately the tape was erased so no record exists in the archive. Motown missed a trick, they should've released this as a single- it could've been massive as the song had a wide appeal well beyond the Supremes fan base.

Her voice was perfectly suited for this arrangement. Motown knew exactly what they were doing when they miked and mixed these shows. Just like on some of the records, Mary’s voice was more prominent because it brought such a rich wonderful texture, there were other times when Florence voice was more prominent because they needed that punch. Diana ross walks off with the honors in this video, she’s already a superstar here. Magnificent.

    originalTo dream, the impossible dream
    To fight, the unbeatable foe
    To bear, with unbearable sorrow
To run, where the brave dare not go
    To right, the unrightable wrong
And to love, pure and chaste from afar
To try, when your arms are too weary
    To reach, the unreachable star
This is my quest, to follow that star
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far
And to fight for the right, without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell, for a heavenly cause
And I know if I'll only be true, to this glorious quest
That my heart will lie will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest
And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove, with his last ounce of courage
    To reach
    The unreachable stars

Like a mirror it Showded me my handling.
    I have to change something,
    If i want to.
Every step in life has its consequenzes.
And the chainreaction made me checkmate.
A picture of a man showed me.
He walked alone in the desert.
    He turned to me,
    If he could sees me.
    But he was silent!
A saw a light When I wanted to go to sleep.
I didnt want to follow ist, didnt want to go inside there!
    Compulsive i stayed awake.
Till i fighted fear and decided me for the light.
    I thought I would die.

I was opened for everything and nothing.

Diane and Mary both had successful solo careers.........Cindy was brought in as a second class, substitute SUPREME who was supposed to stand there, keep quiet, and don't make waves. She was picked due to her lovely personality and former girl-group experience............Cindy did her job well.

If Cindy is so untalented, then why did Patti Labelle share a stage with Cindy for six years before Cindy joined the Supremes? And then why would Diana Ross consent to share a stage with Cindy for four years? Remember Motown went after Cindy to replace Florence so Cindy must have had something special to have sang with such special ladies like Miss Labelle and Miss Ross for so many years.

@@jackjules7552 Cindy was professional, personable, and experienced. Her pleasant disposition is what The Supremes needed when Flo was forced out...........they needed PEACE. Cindy can sing; although, she doesn't have a strong voice like Flo's. Cindy was also 5 years older than Diane and Mary and her look gave a more mature, sophisticated look to the group. During the late 1960's Diane's voice was going through changes and Mary's strong alto overshadowed Cindy's softer 2nd soprano voice. As a result, the sound of The Supremes suffered. When Flo was there, her first soprano sound soared over Mary's with Diane's voice in the middle. That was the original, classic sound of The Supremes. Cindy was a wonderful member of The Bluebelles; however, there were three harmony singers with Cindy's voice sandwiched between Sarah's and Nona's. In that case, with Sarah and Nona carrying the sound, Cindy's weaker voice didn't hurt the group.

Untalented Cindy? Her solo show at London's Hippodrome in 1987 says otherwise.
