To the Tau Air Caste pilot, this must no doubt be the greatest triumph of his career; flying a drop-ship escaping a planet in the middle of an Exterminatus.
@@attila535 I read the book. A Tau fleet of 40 ships turned up against the Imperiums 20, the Tau got the upper hand but then a truce was called so the Imperium could deal with Chaos.
I imagine the Tau kind of had an oh crap moment seeing what the Imperium is capable of with their fleet, then again the Imperium also saw what one fire warrior could do
[Tau dropship pilot reaction when he tries to drive his vehicle out to orbit as the Imperium rains a cascade of planet-cremating destruction around him] Tau air caste: "SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!"
+CelticMarauder Exactly, and since it's about the only Wh40k fps ever created, what's not to like. The only similar game is Space Marine, another very enjoyable (imo) game that so many people still complain about.
It's not a bad game, but it's not a good game either. It nails the atmosphere pretty well, for better AND worse. You really feel like you're a Tau FNG, even if being an FNG means alternating between fun interesting firefights and boring shitty repetitive trench warfare scenarios
Wijrobloxian According to warhammer wiki and lexicanum, the fate of Kais (from fire warrior) is unknown. They do see it as speculation. I welcome the thought that they are the same person, but i would like to see some facts (especially knowing that Kais is common name in Tau Empire).
I think they changed that later so that he was only seriously injured by the Tau :/ But he is not the current captain of the third company so who knows what happend to him ^^;
sync kills are the special moves that contain a special animation pairing certain characters together. you can see davians if you search davian vs bloodthirster, a perfect example, finer details that make this game so kick ass chances are her armour class will say "daemon" as all the monsters have that she must be that angel lady iseen, she looked pretty awesome
@SlyFox70100 That's Captain Ardias of the Ultramarines third Company (they have red trimming on their shoulder pads), the lightning in that place makes the armour look darker then it is.
A fire warrior is a warrior from the Tau fire caste from the Tau empire. "The fire warrior" you probobly think about is Shas´la Kais (dont remember which planet hes from so I cant write down the full name) and is the guy you play as in the game.
@davidiscool26 It's from White Dwarf magazine issue #131. A short story called "The Emperor and Horus: An epic conflict between the Emperor and his Arch-enemy, the Warmaster Horus" by William King on page 8.
Which method did they use for Exterminatus in this video? It looks similar to the one in Retribution, except at the end of the cutscene in Retribution they use that massive missile.
Good luck with that. The Air Caste are some of the most skilled pilots in the galaxy. And you can see from one of the cutscenes that a Tau cruiser can go toe-to-toe with an "Emperor" class battleship-one of the biggest in the Imperium's fleet.
@ski29851a Well that depends on how you look at it, Kais failed to save the Ethereal but he killed the greater demon (in the novel he had help from Ardias and a squad of crisis suits ^^; ) and the space marines bombed the planet since it was tainted by chaos (it was a Imperial planet btw), while the Tau go home and have cake... sort of :P
@TheFoilGuy Maybe... maybe not... Kais is a rather common name In the Fire caste so it might just be someone else who has the same name. heh did you count how many of everything you get to kill? :P and I think It's only one demon prince since the admiral turns into a spawn.
I hate to ask this, but...what happens in the very last level? There's a part near the end I can't get past. So what happens when you reach the bottom of The Pit or whatever? How does the game end? (before this cutscene, I mean) I don't remember the Ultramarine being anywhere near the Chaos temple, so it'd be nice to know how things went down =/
@AVIATIO well it is never said where Dolumar IV is located but since The Tau can't get very far the planet should be somewhere nere Tau space which is quite some way away from Earth. probably the programmers did not want space to just be black so they added it in and hoped noone would notice that detail :)
@SSeth123 I had not heard, will try to read up on that. If it is true, then I must salute Games Workshop yet again and hope the Tyranid breakfast is done by the time they release the next edition.
This game may not be the best made game, but it was my first experience with Warhammer 40k. I also enjoyed it at the time. I doubt I would enjoy a play through today. I do wish more games like this were made, but sadly that is not happening.
What if the article was originally incorrect and had been corrected by some knowledgable person, if you revert it to its original state, you could be erasing valid entries. For example, if someone messed up on the Strangelet article, and a physicist viewed and corrected it, how would you go about deciding whether or not the edit was valid?
what daemon do the sisters have and what sorta sync kills did they have? i was trippin they did sync kill with davian thule vs bloodthirster, i bet any much they stole that from kratos signature psyclops kill from GodOW
They do not register in Warp, if that is what you are saying. Siplier put, they do not exist for Chaos gods, they cannot corrupt Tau... with slight exceptions.
so... the tau fire warrior didn't kill the former SM captain that has now turned chaos? i like to know why he didn't... did chaos and tau work together for a moment or something like that?
there was max 1000 space marines during the battle of maccarage as it took place after the horus heresy but as you said during the HH there was no shortage as they did not have the max 1000 SM rule then.
@PROkiller16 You would be right if you were talking about the Black Templars and the likes, but philosophies vary greatly between Chapters. The Ultramarines and the Blood Ravens are far more reasonable per example, and temporary alliances between them and aliens versus a common foe are not unheard of.
Actually, if the Tyranids never showed up, the Imperium would have lost the crusade. As I said earlier, titans and surprise were the Imperium's greatest asset at the opening of the crusade. When the edge on both was lost, the entire crusade got bogged down. The meat grinder tatics of the Guard only work so well that deep in hostile territory. Concievably, the Tau could have destroyed the crusade utterly, but they are an enlightened race that don't see the worth of senseless slaughter.
#1 The space marines aren't as common as you say. Each chapter has only 1000 members. That's only as much as 1 Cadre, the basic Tau battle force. There are actually fewer space marines than Tau now. In just one major battle, most of a chapter could be wiped out. #2 The Tau don't care if they are vastly outnumbered by guardsmen, as they always are. Their weapons are so powerful that it basically negates numbers.
This is what the Emperor is capable of. "Bolts of force flicker as mortal gods clash, balancing the fate of the galaxy on every blow. Runesword and lightning claw ring against each other with a sound like thunder. Energies potent enough to level planets are unleashed." "He gathers every particle of his power, focuses it into a mighty bolt of pure force, more coherent than a laser, more destructive than an exploding sun. He aims it at Horus, a lance of power destined for the madman's heart."
A bit ironic, don't you think? He spends all his in FW working with the Tau, and he ends up dying in the pitiful crusade against them. The Tau owned in the crusade. The Imperium got as far as it did because the Tau didn't know how to fight Titans. When they figured out how to use Mantas to fight them, the Crusade got no further.
Kais is a common name it means "skillful" they never gave his personal name. In either case it is unlikely the Kais from Dark Crusade and Fire Warrior Kais are the same. Fire Warrior supposedly takes place some 250 years before the Damocles Crusade and Dark Crusade some time after. Also the Kais in Dark Crusade is calm, collected, and sane. The Kais from Fire Warrior would have been driven mad by his close encounter with Chaos and in the book of the same name ended up in a Tau mental hospital.

The use of Exterminatus on an Imperial world can be ordered for several reasons. Chaos taint, Tyranid infestation, Necrons, mass rebellion/heresy, etc. It is often resorted to when the world is deemed to be not worth the amount of men and material that would be required to reclaim it.
But what if it's an Industrial World that build weapons, ships and Titans? If only if any Psyker, especially a Space Marine Librarian can sense a Chaos Taint that must be contained before it spreads beyond to the point of no return.
