    I just started riding 6 months ago and this was the first bike I got. I was a little intimidated by the size and power at first but it really doesn't feel as big or as heavy as it is. This bike carries its weight beautifully and that engine is superb! Its an 07 and had about 14,000 miles when I got it. I've already put 9,000 miles on it and it still runs beautifully at 23,000. I'm so glad I decided to get this big cruiser rather than the more common "beginner" bikes, that decision kept me from having to upgrade from a smaller bike to what I have now. Hopefully ill still be riding my Stratoliner for many more years to come :)

      How was the test for you and have you dropped it? I'm thinking of picking up one as my first bike cause I want to cruise and do a trip from LA to Vancouver eventually and I feel like this is a bike I wouldn't have to upgrade that much to make that trip

More bikes more fun too you know?

    I’ve owned 7 bikes in three diff categories, sport naked, cruiser and ADV, the Stratoliner was my favorite, if I could justify more than one bike I’d add one to the stable again. I had mine fitted with a Barons Big Air Kit, Vance and Hines exhaust, and power commander…126 Ft-lb of torque at the Dyno!

    I am shy of 1380 miles to go over the 600,000 safe riding miles. I have taken the motorcycle defensive course, never gotten a speeding ticket, never dropped the bike, and safety comes first. I am a Yammi man. I have owned five Yammis, and I presently own a 2008 Strato S. I have been told that for some time now. It is the bike that has the most miles when I bring it in for service. It almost has 80,000 miles. My wife and I have covered 30 of the 50 states on bikes. .-.-.- The speedometer needle was not registering anything because due to moisture inside the clock, the needles tend to stick. A little tap will fix the initial problem, if not you have to take it apart. The same happens with the gas gauge. All you have to do is recycle the key until the needle moves. This only happens if you have gas in the tank. Do not expect the needle to move if the gas is empty

The Stratoliner is a powerful bike, there are not but one or two bikes more powerful. If the bike you were on was not pulling you backwards, then there was something major wrong with it or you were barely twisting the throttle.

However my yamaha raider has the same 1900 motor except its geared for drag racing from stoplight to stoplight and would rock this bike. Sean meantioned the m109 and the vtx1800 which both are faster then my raider

    • @DarrenWrightPBOoutlaw
      @DarrenWrightPBOoutlaw 6 лет назад +2

      I agree Ted. I've ridden just about everything, and at 310 lbs, I've never had a bike try to flip me off the back the way this one does. I have an '06 and when I twist the throttle hard I hold on tight. She is the smoothest bike I've ever ridden. Balanced perfectly, for me. And to Joe D's comment, this is a fast bike. Mine will go 0 to 60 in just over 4 seconds(with my 310# tail) and I've laid her ears back at around 120 mph with much more throttle to go. My bike certainly isn't tuned down.

      Yeah bullshit. 1st gear tops out nowhere near 60.

    @Srkcycles, I saw that you've reviewed both the Strat and the Royal Star 1300.
    How would you say they compare?
    I commute 45mi (pure highway) and ride 2up with wife quite a bit.
    Would the v4 be working harder at 70-75?

      J.Michael B. I have owned a 98 Royal Star Tour Deluxe for 2 yrs now. Its a V4 so is a way different beast than this V twin. BOTH are good at 2 up. If you want to do alot of interstate, try the VENTURE which is the RSTD on STEROIDS with ALL the comforts one could want. But may be a bit HEAVY and Burdensome for commuting in city. All 3 bikes are PIGS and not nimble for slow turning. GREAT for Hiway and cruising. The Strat is a Longer bike. I'm 6'6". My RSTD stock seats are made for shorter people ??? I'm too close to the tank. So after market seats put me back better. But it's a Big heavy bike. Very high revving and likes it that way. Not like a Vtwin at all. Its a Beautiful bike. We are now also buying a 2006 Stratoliner. Also a Large-LONG bike. For me, it fits way better. There is more bike out front. And it is a Beauty. Its alot more " SWOOPY" is what I call it. My RSTD is more "Muscly" feeling. Not ridden the STRAT yet but sat on a few . We scored a great deal online so hope it looks like the photo. Only 10,000 miles on it so was my 98 RSTD when I got it. BOTH should run 200K mls if properly taken care of. They are BOTH, Works of Art and people who have either bike, swear by them. Really depends on how CURVY and SPACEY ya want your bike to be. Either is a good choice and either are CHEEEEEEAP now. You can get a Great Bike with under 25,000 mls for under $5,000. - $7,000. To hell with them HARLEY's ! Lastly, aint nuthin like taking your time and checking both out. I'd see if a local dealer has one to try on. But buy private. You'll pay at least $2,000. more at a dealer. Hope that helped. ALSO : Check out the Yamaha Pages on Face Book - dedicated to either bike . There are several and the folks on them are very helpful and knowledgeable. WINTER is Great time for cheap bikes. Save a grand or 2 . GOOD LUCK !

      @@johnbrockafeller thanks for great info. Yes, I'm sold. I have aBMW 2018 RT1200. Awesome bike. But I want to pick up a big cruiser. Thought I wanted a Harley till I rode one. I kno I would love one of the Japanese knockoffs (for lack of a better term) ...think I'm headed in the correct direction. Fk "peer pressure". I've always said "the masses are asses." No offense. Perhaps stubborn? Ignorant? Your ego is NOT your amigo🤣😭
