I bought a Yamaha Royal Star tour deluxe for that reason. I wanted a real bike to enjoy and ride not be in the bar boys club with branded overpriced clothing to complete the look.
I own a 2014 Strat S, and it's basically a Roadliner most of the time, and a fully touring Stratoliner when I need it to be. I have two different height windshields, (Memphis lowers for buffeting), and a full-face helmet for riding without one at all, obviously the sissy bar is detachable, and I made the bags truly detachable without that ugly ass bar underneath. I just bought a 2006 a few days ago after not riding for years. Fell in love with it immediately, even through she promptly reminded me that I have a lot of ring rust to shake off before I can really handle her. The throttle feels a little touchy and turning at low speed is a little dicey for me, but my comfort and confidence levels are increasing quickly. Btw, I'm 5'7" and have no trouble with comfort or holding her up while stopped. The hardest part was just figuring out the sweet spot for feathering the clutch and throttle. Can't wait to get home from work this morning and take her out for a before-bed spin.
I sold my Roadliner Midnight and regret it. That bike got more looks and compliments than you could ever imagine, and to boot, it was an absolute beast and 100% reliable.

My father had one of these. It hauled ass for a giant cruiser. I couldn't believe how well it handled. It had a problem leaking oil, but I believe the dealer fixed it for no charge(maybe a recall).
I test rode a 2012 Roadliner a couple of summers ago: beautiful and powerful bike, but the one thing it absolutely needed was a windshield. I tried to find a Stratoliner to test ride for comparison but never did. It also needed a sixth gear. My 1600 Nomad cruises at a lower rpm on the highway than the Roadliner--which is probably why I didn't aggressively look for a Strat to test ride.

I want to get one. It’s a 2006 with 50.000 km ( 31.000miles). I heard some rumors that they have some issues with 3rd gear. What’s your opinion on this ? Thank you !
All Yamaha had to do on this bike was add a 6th gear and abs and it would have continued to sell. The 0-60 video shows that this bike with the Cobras may not be a comfortable highway cruiser at 80 mph. I still may get one after watching this video though....impressive machine for cheap $$$
I've cruised down the highway at 120 and it's just as smooth as it is at 80. It doesn't need a 6th gear. If you can find one for around $5k, it is the best value you're ever going to find in a big cruiser.

You obviously are a rider and not a biker, but I still won't hate. You're always worth a watch
So in terms of weight, seat height, general feeling (esp. when going slow), what bikes would you say this is similar to? I've ridden Road Kings, Harley Deluxe, the big Indians, Goldwings; just looking to get a sense
I'm 6'4" 420 lbs and it's perfect for me. Haven't ridden a bike that remotely compares. Sooooo glad I found this bike. Mine is a 05 Stratoliner and I mean WOW! What a bike!!! Good luck finding a Stratoliner though. I wouldn't sell mine. Ever
@@michaelmeabon3489 They didn't come out until 2006. I got the first one my dealer got in! I still ride it, Great bike!
@Bruce P Yeah, 2006, my bad
I can't begin to keep up with all the new bikes. But isn't there a 2.2 liter Triumph out there? Seems like I read about it a few years ago.
How much are motorcycle go for
Great review. Beautiful bike
Love this steampunk style dash.
I have the Raider and love my xv1900 burning that back tire off at lights and watching people's jaw drop
"What are these papers on the floor?!?" Lmao
Great videos. I have a '12 and LOVE IT! Would like to find a windshield that works for me for long trips though :)
That's the coolest intro ever
bad ass mirror set up
ive had my stratoliner for 9 years now and i never know that plate slid back and covered the key hole .___.
Be a more thorough review if you could post some rpms at highway and interstate speeds.
Take in vibrations and comfort. Some big bikes will have annoying vibrations 65 to 80mph.
Helo from México! Do You think that Bike is for a beginner men?
Awesome words of wisdom my brother
That bike sounds nice, you talk about the 2000...... Most don't realize, gears 1-3 are governed because the bike is just way too fast
Pride to have a roadstar 1700cc and a Rodliner 😊
I love this Video and bike 👍 thx
2 years saving for an MT 07, stolen over night last week... I do need some praying
Like watching your vids they are great and talking is great good job don't take any notice of the cheesy remarks
I use to subscribe and watch a lot of SRKcycles. But not being a religious person and with Sean's constant god bothering sermons before each ride.....I've turned away. Interested in the motorcycle reviews. Not extracts from the bible.
A roadking that looks good without bags. Nice bike!
Didnt Kawasaki make a competitor like this around 02/03? It was also like a 1900cc. Looked like a Dreamliner.
Shaft drive or belt ?
belt driven
