My favorite ship in the game. My first Cutter earned me enough money to buy a carrier, which then made me enough to buy and outfit 3 more Cutters and park them in my carrier. They’re all outfitted for specific purposes. Cutter money making supremacy is real.
yo, old comment, but what are your cutters outfitted for? and what did you do with that first cutter? andd how much time did it take you to get to the FC? thx in advance
Yes- it is so worth the money (and the grind, if you wish to call it that). I use it for trading (shieldless) and mining. Also, if you want to go visit the Titan, I recommend a cold build clipper. You’ll have access to that now; and it makes it a very easy to farm/ mine the titan. Congratulations. I like my federal corvette for fighting; but I just love my cutter for more relaxing gameplay.
Imagine gaslighting the concept of grind in ED. Grinding definitely exists, don't be toxic and act like it doesn't. Everyone who upgrades parts knows grinding exists. Crazy gaslighting.
So you run greedy. Aka shieldless. I used to in my T-9 "Greased Doorstop" but I switched to the smallest I could and still have shields. With anything but gankers it's fine, and my flying still makes up for that with the gankers.
Just decided to finish my rank grind from about 50% through. Took just a few hours, then spent around 800 million credits fully kitting it out for defensive mining - after also unlocking the engineered 1D mining lasers x 4. Pretty happy with the result - other than the enormous cost. It also inspired me to re-fit and re-engineer my T10 more appropriately, so it has 2400 shields and 4500 hull for sitting in resources extraction sites, casually killing pirates and collecting mats. Thanks for the video.
I own a Cutter and this is a ship for everything. It can gank players and even kill an ATR, jump 50+ LY, haul 640 tonnes of cargo with decent 6A prismatic shield to go through Open play, and many more things. I traveled with a Cutter to the Colony and Sagittarius A, made triple Elite, King and Admiral ranks. It is just fun to play.
Had my Cutter for years now and always use it to ship goods between stations, works a treat for those delivery focused community goals, the last FDEV community goal was disgustingly unprofitable but I won an anti Thargoid related piece of kit so the Cutter did its job, that cargo hold will undoubtedly make you a very rich miner. I recently bought a second Cutter I plan to turn into a Thargoid combat ship, the Cutter makes me a good chunk of money and so far has generated billions, in Elite Dangerous the Cutter is easily one of my favourite and most used ships.
I replaced my Type 9 with the Cutter and never looked back. I've only been mining once, and I used my cutter -- other than that she's my Fleet Showpiece. She potentially has the speed to be able to outrun any NPC pursuer as I submit, then run away, much easier and faster than the mini-game. Mine is outfitted to haul 730 tons of goods and that's with a small navigational shield, which is highly recommended as the operating costs can be quite steep, especially if you bounce it off the walls during takeoff / landing. The nominal Class 8 shielding carried in its standard setup coupled with the armor package affords the Imperial Cutter insane levels of protection. Arrive at the billionaire's club in style! The Type 9 heavy perhaps may be more practical, but the IC is simply more fun to fly (once you get past its huge drift tendency)
I have 2, a simple build I use pretty much only to refuel my carrier when the other Cutter is parked elsewhere, pretty much just a huge cargo rack with engines on it. That "other Cutter" is a multirole build. 544t of cargo space, fighters, SRV, surface scanner, a 6A scoop, 40ly+ range (still above 30 with a full load), 500m/s boost and enough weapons and shields to clear a high intensity conflict zone with a full load of cargo if that's what I want to do. I use lightweight alloys because it's much cheaper, helps with speed and range, and it's not like any pirate will get through my shields anyway. It's also great to fly in a convoy with squadron mates, because I can swap my SRV for an interdictor and deal with any pirates that want to mess with our purpose-built freighters
Congrats. Best hauler in the game. Paired with rockets and plasmas can surrender to Elite pirate and kill him just to have extra cash and some mats with over 700t of the cargo onboard. I had T9 prior cutter to deliver tritium to the carrier. Pirates killed me couple times, so I focused and finished ranks. That T9 became laser-miner, and cutter is my armed hauler now.
The Cutter is 110% worth he grind to unlock it. Breathtaking ship in terms of looks, and can fill pretty much any role you want it to. That versatility is why this is my favorite ship. The *Patron Saint* (my Cutter has the Asemic Black & Gold paint, I'll let y'all guess who my NFL team is, haha) started her career as a miner, but over the course of time has served transporting cargo, as a data courier, bounty hunting, as a passenger liner, in AX combat, performing AX evacuations, supporting raids on surface bases, and some light exploration. While the Cutter does have its shortcomings (not the most nimble thing among the stars, difficult to land on planetary surfaces, and very expensive to acquire/maintain, to start), the ship can excel at pretty much everything in the game you would want it to do, and you're going to look damn good doing it.
The imperial Cutter is the best and as you said glorious way to fly. 1 plus Bill CR for a military fitted, 500 mill for a hauling cutter, 500 mill for mining cutter. The grind for the rank isn't a grind if you do it being connected to the background. As an imperial citizen you focus on gaining as fast as possible on your imperial reputation, choose reputation over credits. Once allied the payment is very high. Play for a group like Lavigny's Legion. And then you have got connection, goals, success.
"Is it worth the $200 million price? Hell ..................................................................................... yes." I heard an existential crisis in that pause.
I bought my first cutter - Pale Horse, a year ago (May '23), to do large cargo missions, AND knock the crap outta any would be pirates. Out of all the ships I regularly use, this is the only one that's never succumbed, in battle. My next cutter - Goodnight X, was fitted out just for the fight, and it is BRUTAL. I have 3 now, and can't decide what role to give no' 3. Although I think I'll use it for experimenting with torpedoes, rail guns, 'n' other weapons I haven't used, to see where I go. It wont be used for mining though. I've got a corvette for all that.
So first thing. Welcome to Elite! Its fun following someone who is relatively new to the game. I started not long after launch and its changed a lot since then. I have two ships kitted out for mining. My python is used to do core mining as core mining requires a more nimble ship. Laser Mining is done with my Type 9. Due to its speed the cutter imho is wasted as a miner. I use my cutter as my goods hauler. Once properly kitted out with A rated thruster and shields (better yet prismatics) and engineered then anything that can catch it cannot kill it and vice versa. As one of the largest ships its very difficult to mass lock it as well.
Thank you, Commander. Mining is my fav activity so I'm trying out different ships and builds. I was looking forward to turning a cutter into a mining rig
i just bought my third Cutter. the first is my CQ cargo hauler, the second Cutter is a ' shield tank", as its rock 8A prismatic shield....the latest one bought last week, is rocking a 8A fuel scoop, its going to be an explorer build
Congrats again on getting a Cutter! I've got a couple of them myself; "Pork Chop Express", my shieldless dedicated cargo carrier for back-and-forth jobs on my fleet carrier with 784 cargo space and "Indomitable", my shield-tank combat Cutter with more than 16kMJ of shield strength with all resistances at over 50%. I hope you used the Ngalinn-Mainani grind method for Imperial ranks, makes it pretty easy if boring. Another method you can use for money grinding is kit your Cutter out for cargo space and buy-low-sell-high Agronomic Treatments. You can make just over $20mil per haul with that, although it's much more efficient to run that method after you already have a fleet carrier.
@@lootandgrind The reason I'd suggest a Cutter for your cargo ship is the same reason I replaced my Type-9 as my cargo ship; interdictions. The Type-9 can't escape from interdictions period and doesn't have the speed fully loaded with cargo to always successfully escape every time. While the Cutter has the same maneuverability in escaping an interdiction (i.e. none lol), it can boost to almost 500m/s even fully loaded down (with 8A thrusters engineered to Grade 5 Dirty Drag Drives). It can also carry more cargo then the T-9, but it does so without carrying a shield. But it doesn't actually need the shield since after you get interdicted and the pirate gets their guns out, you've already boosted out of weapons range, lol. The T-9 can also get mass locked by larger ships (pirate Anaconda for example) whereas nothing mass locks a Cutter's big booty. And, as you mentioned, the Cutter just looks so cool. Why deliver commercial goods with a dirty freight truck when you can do it in style?
Love my cutters, yes two. I've got one spec'd for mining and the other for cargo. Just recently picked up Ody though in that last Steam sale, so I've started working on mat collections for that to upgrade/engineer them.
I have 3 Cutters (all A rated and engineered) Combat - 918m cr Mining - 593m cr Cargo/Passengers - 570m cr My mining cutter has the same cargo capacity as yours and I made 150m cr mining platinum in a single trip a few days ago (my Merchant rank is Elite V now). A while ago I was using my cargo Cutter and fleet carrier working with a squadron to manipulate the influence of factions so we could get into the system and was moving 18,000t of cargo a day for over a month. In the end we were able to get into the system and take over.
@@lootandgrind I bought my fleet carrier back before mining was nerfed and Painite was selling for close to 1m cr / t, made 4B cr in a week with my Cutter. Another way to make good money is in a wing doing multiple trade missions worth 50m cr at once though I haven't been part of a squadron for a while. When you buy a fleet carrier I suggest having about 10B cr as there area few modules you will want to have when you buy it (bare bones it is pretty lacking).
Unlocked the Imperial rank requirement, currently saving up to buy the hull and outfitting. I'm planning to use mine to run Tritium to, and mined cargo from, my fleet carrier. I was using a Type 9 for the task, but that ship was so unwieldy and poorly armed that flying anywhere with a full cargo hold was making my skin crawl. Not to mention the jump scare every time some npc passenger liner decided to waffle in the system chat The planned build should do the trick. Plenty of turrets, shielding, and a fighter bay for NPC pirates, and still over 600 tons of cargo bay! Look forward to the vid comparing mining ships, to see if the Cutter is an improvement on the mining 'conda
Yes I also own a cutter and believe it worth the money and more. I use mine with cargo 624 to do space trucking and combat. Use mostly turrets and a 6a shield with it and it does wonders.
I have 5 of them kitted out for various roles, I love the Cutter. I'll be building more Space 1999 Eagle designs in Starfield. The X Ship in the Japanese Brian May theme tuned Starfleet is my ultimate ship play. The Cutter is a fantastic ship when kitted in different configurations. Laser placement selection is important for finesse. Fleet Carrier only Cutter with 1.3 ly range maxxed thrusters, minimum jump engines and maximum cargo no shields yields perfect easy Asteroid Cracking. Starfield Mining I'm looking forward too underground mining and space mining. I will always play Elite Legacy, it is a Gem!
The Cutter is a fantastic ship. I (embarrassingly) have 5 - a laser miner, human combat, AX combat, shieldess cargo hauling (792 tons cargo), and a shielded AX cargo hauler for use in the thargoid war. Just wait until you get those drives to grade 5 dirty drag drives, boosting that beast to over 500m/s, but she does take a LOOONG time to stop. I've been enjoying your videos mate, good luck with the carrier grind.
I would love to see a how-to from this channel on how to be successful at rescue missions. Having trouble benefiting from other people’s videos in this regard glad you’re loving the cutter!
Rescue? There are two types of rescue that I know of. One is damaged space stations, the other is hostage rescue, I use a cutter for both. Damaged stations you'll need to practice landing a medium to large ship quickly with no docking computer and at least 2 economy cabins. For hostage rescue you just need hatch breaker limpits and cargo space. Use your left panel to target engines first.
Gave up on Elite some time ago after the "incident". Been checking out the patches as they come out just to see where the game is at. The last update, 15, seems to of got the game up to a good standard so I am giving it another go. Like you, I always wanted a Cutter but could not stand the thought of the grind to get it up to a reasonable standard. While the buy price is 200 million the fit out cost is more than triple that! I have spent most time in ages grinding through the ranks and collecting mats and eventually got the Cutter after a couple of days. It is a nice ship to fly just as you say. It runs so cool and though it handles like a whale it is a very nice ship to fly.
I had like 30-40 mins per day to play the game. So it took a few days to grind the Imperial ranks. I think you could get it done in a day or two if you really focus on it. For this mining build, it cost me 500 million, including the ship cost.
Did the imperial grind at Ngalinn taking stacks of data courier missions all at once. Took no time at all. It’s the fed grind that’s gruelling. But, with a cargo cutter it’s possible to stack transport missions between Canopus/Exphiay and make a whole load of credits at the same time. Make sure those thrusters are G5 engineered though. And the Corvette is SO worth it!
Yea, the current meta for fed rank is bad, or I'm using the wrong meta. The ochosi route gives me maybe 4 missions a trip if I'm lucky, and I can only be there for about a half hour before I run out of missions for the day
@@Wither_Strike I'd rather recommend to do whatever you like to do in federal space and have a look if you can combine it with missions you also like. That way you just play the game and have fun while your rank with the federation increases. Might be slower, but definitely less grindy.
@@cmdrandreyuenari4150 the only thing i like in this game is exploring the void, kinda hard to be in federal space and several hundred lightyears from sol at the same time. might find a good starport to sell exploration data and see if that gives me rank but i dont think it does
I bought one just to ferry tritium to my carrier... or transfer tritium in my carrier.. I bought another one just for a sleeper AFK "pirate trap" in Qi Yomisii @ a (resource extraction [Low]) after taking missions nearby at Tesla keeping under threat lvl 7.. Fill all 20 missions AFK, mostly WING missions too.. I use a Tai Pan gimbal beam laser fighter on my AFK ship(s) because they last longer, & I trained pilot from lowest rank paying only 10% for Elite Ranked Pilot.. Fixed Gimbal is better for PvE or PVP when you are present.. Pirate are great for collecting materials too, so bring lots of limpets!! I keep the same 8 Bauxite to lure the pirates.. I use mid weapons set as beam laser(range & oversize) and large weapons I use multi-cannon(oversize & extra ammo).. I ALSO use a type 10 defender for "sort of" AFK when I am doing other things near my desk. Type 10 Defender works great if you haven't grinded factions for rank to even get a Cutter or a Corvette, Anaconda can work as well..
The Cutter is a multi purpose Ship. When it comes to the Fleet Carrier, I have one. It's not only expensive to buy an FC, it's also expensive to run. Weekly upkeep will drive you insane....
congrats for your cutter cmdr! Best investment in my game. Spent over 1 billion on it, but it brought it back 6-7 times already. It's a great multi role flagship.
I resisted getting a Cutter for a long time (I'm a Fed) But now I own 3, one for Trade and PvE (not a bad jump range either - good for piracy/BGS), one for Thargoids and Maelstroms (very cold), and one for pure combat (one billion credits!) I hate to admit it - but I love em! Best multirole in the game o7
its a great ship, shieldless trader with some point defense, just hit boost and outrun all npc pirates, including mambas. hauls alot of cargo, it vents heat better than all other ships. its also great for mining becuse its faster in the asteroid fields, but i prefer the Type9 and Type10 for mining because of the better view. i still use my fully armed Type9 for hauling as well because i like the challenge. the Cutter would probably make a great maelstrom ship and possibly a medium range expedition/explorer ship
I was using the Keelback for my mining ship, but bought the Krait MKII and didnt like it what I bought it for and turned it into my main mining ship, it works great for that. I havent really been playing ED that much lately, because the company seems to only care about the Thargoid war and adding nothing else for the other 90% of players. I really want to own all the ships and see what they can do and some like the Cutter just look awesome.
Do a bit of everything, set small goals and make a space adventure of each of them. Right now I'm unlocking on-foot engineers which will culminate with a trip to colonia (to unlock the engineers out there) then I'm going to Sag A for exploration out there. Then I'll go back and get back into the thargoid war. After a bit of that, I'll do some station repair stuff.
@@lootandgrind Have you tried the passenger rescue missions from the systems under thargoid attack and alert? You don't have to engange in combat activities and make a lot of money from that. It's recommended to make the Cutter as fast as possible though, so that you can escape easily in case of a hyperdiction.
Congratulations. I just got mine last night. I don't really have it properly outfitted, yet, and my cashflow has been stagnant from all the donations I made in the faction grind to Duke. I need to get a 7A FSD, still, and a few other odds and ends, but I will need more credits first, and raw materials for the engineering (I'm good on manufactured and emission, I think), so the Python still has some more work to do.
I use mine for trading. I've installed a Guardian FSD booster and engineered the FSD further to pretty much mean I can get to any kind of station within a single jump. It's a good time.
Love my Cutter. Didn't expect it would be great for exploration, but it really is. Everything I need is on board; 4 SRVs, 6 fighters, loads of shielding, 2 heat sink units, big AMFU and more. And with all of that it still jumps over 42 ly! Only downside is the upwards thrust isn't that powerful. No biggie thanks to the shields though.
@@andresespana3216 Unfortunately long gone. I no longer play ED, but even if I was I would not need a Cutter for exploration anymore. I got myself a fleet carrier at some point so there really wasn't a need for a heavy ship with everything on board anymore. The Cutter became a regular mining/trading ship and smaller ships replaced it for exploration.
I have two Cutters now. One is outfitted for maximum cargo space (and a docking computer as I'm lazy), so about 790 tonnes, and stripped down for maximum jump range (light armor, no weapons or shield, and mostly D grade equipment). This I use mainly for cargo based CG's, where I can easily get in the top 50% (or higher) with only a few trips, and that's after starting a day late on a Friday. My other Cutter I have outfitted as an armed transport. I first made it a combat build, then added a lot of cargo racks. So I can use it for combat or cargo missions. It's one hell of a shield tank once set up right. I used my CG Cutter to make my money for my fleet carrier. I already had almost enough for one, but after the insane Tritium CG a while ago, I made enough for a FC, plus outfitting it, and had some spare credits left over. I was making over 250 million in pure profit each run. Can't wait for another like that one! 😊
If you are looking for raw mining profits, and not trade rank, the best deal in the game is laser mining bromellite. There is a high buying fleet carrier in Bhotho, with hotspot in same system.
@Loot and Grind For short-range mining like this example, I actually find an Anaconda is superior. It has less overall cargo than a Cutter, but a ludicrous number of module slots for ridiculous amounts of collectors. You can zip back and forth to the carrier for unloading. My record was 21, I think.
I've bought 1 cutter recently and am speccing that up for an ax rescue/evac/cargo supply ship. Am considering buying another for a npc combat build, not ruling out an ax option even though I got a ax krait2 too. Like you recently got to Duke rank with the Imps and have made well over a billion credits doing evac/rescues so sort of treating myself. Already own a FC and I achieved that by doing A LOT of winged mining missions valued between 38-50mill a mission, but from where you buy commodity from market (gallite/bauxite, bertrandite, etc).
I use mine for trade With a 6A Prismatic, 6 Shield Boosters and 2 Grade 5 Guardian Shield Reinforcements in the Military only slots, I just ignore pirates. I don't even bother popping a Heat Sink. Just stroll away. I did get one for mining but I don't have the patience to fill it up. Python is perfect for mining. I have not tried it in combat as I prefer the medium to small ships for fun but I understand if you die in PVE, it's your fault.
Love my cutter as well. I think if i had to be stuck with only 1 ship in the game, this would probly be it. or pretty close to it as it can do just about everything. And I use it for literally just about everything from mining, cargo hauling, fighting, bounty hunting, you name it. hands down one of the safest ships in the galaxy to be cruising around in as the things nearly unkillable and impossible to mass lock. youd have to be really... REALLY dumb to ever get killed in one of these. basically, if you want to leave.... YOURE GOING TO. and no ones going to stop you.
loving the cutter so much, its smooth n sounds great not bad at all at the jobs it does and well as you said it feels good to pilot. trust the fact that if you buy a cutter you will eventually own at least 3 as i do. 1 for mining well bcoz it does have the biggest cargo hold comparable to ONLY Type 9. 2 ya gotta have a cargo hauler and the cutter does it best. 3 the big bully just put on a shield and a few weapons of your choice and ya got yourself a big bad wolf of a cutter that can blop anyone! the grind to get the cutter is in my opinion worth it. yeah sure anaconda is built to do everything the game has to offer but can it haul like a cutter can? and when you have a carrier finally your gonna want a cutter hauler on board to fill it up faster and smoother for sure!
After more than 6k hours of gameplay, credits are no longer an issue. I already have all the ships I want to have, as well as a fleet carrier... and more credits than I can spend! I have two Imperial Cutters, one for transport and the other multi-purpose, although the latter is currently equipped for combat. Despite "turning like a planet", as you say in the video, in combat it is one of the hardest ships to shoot down... it has the strongest shields in the game and a lot of hardpoints for weapons. Also, none of the big ships are agile, surely no one uses big ships in combat for agility, right? Initially I used the Cutter for mining, but with the fleet carrier, it became unnecessary as I no longer need to carry a lot of cargo from the mining sites to the stations... I prefer to mine with Python and deposit the materials in the FC. In fact, that is one of the advantages of fleet carriers, the ability to store the materials we mine, giving us the possibility to sell them when the circumstances are right, that is, when prices are the most favorable. However, there are three things that, in my opinion, are unbeatable about the Cutter: it is the ship that carries the most cargo in the game, while also being one of the fastest and, finally, the most beautiful ship in the game ... by the way, like all imperial ships, they are all beautiful ! In addition to everything I've mentioned, there's no denying it... being able to buy a Cutter and equip it is one of the most memorable moments for any ED player. I'll never forget the feeling of riding the Cutter out of a station for the first time.
I'm a BGS player for my faction. So yes... A little bit hardcore... (My problem I know ;) ) The cutter is my go to for Black marketing especially. But also my main ship to move cargo. The Type 9 does the job very well. But it is to slow...
Right now I am grinding rank for the Cutter to use as a cargo runner. Then I need to decide if I want to keep using a Type-9 for mining or something different.
I use it for cargo wing mining missions. About a bil per day ani I buy the commodity not mine it. It turns better and is faster, better for interdiction than a t9.
I had one first time i got it but i crashed into the ground and was like am i able to get the starter ship but still get the cutter back but turns out no im not now im back with the type 5
I bought my first and now I own 6 cutters. My favourite is my cargo runner. 672t jumping 35ly. My passenger cutter jumps 48ly and my mining cutter can refine 400t of deep core. I spent every credit on my first cutter, I now have 4.5 billion. The cutter is a work horse that can do everything
Great at trading, combat , and mining the cutter is a close second , on my list of ships. Where you mining at btw ? I haven’t mined since odyssey but have enjoyed it in the past. 112 Herculis is one of my favorites for metallic and core mining. Although, you’ll need a fleet carrier.
I genuinely couldn't care less if it's worth it or if it's the bestest option for any particular use. Have you seen it? It's kind of the same thing as a Bentley. It may not be any better than a Honda at anything, but it's a Bentley. Anybody can own a Python, or whatever the plebes say is the comparable ship. How much is a carrier these days? I may have to get busy and buy one. I need more Cutters so I don't have to keep refitting mine every time I want to do a different mission.
I got the cutter years ago and have been trying to grind for fleet carrier till today. How are you planning on making 5-8 billion fast? Am really getting burnt out with the grind. And yes I tried exobio its just not as fun as mining for me anyway.
I'm doing a rotation of mining, trading, and Exobiology. Whenever I feel bored I switch. I know there are faster ways to make money but I'm in no rush. Just enjoying the journey
Mining can be relaxing but doing it constantly can get old. To supercharge your credit making rate, filling team mining missions with purchasable commodities such as gold, silver, bertrandite and indite can make you so many credts that you won't have to grind credits again. But I don't have a full team you say. I can give back all credits thru the FC market that you share those missions with up to 3 of my alts. Or give me a few days and I'll stack 20 missions on those alts and we can share all 80 of those missions and quadruple our rewards. Keep on mining if you get joy from doing it.
@@lootandgrind the same method of doing team missions but on foot can get you loads of data. If you're interesed I know of a system with only 3 anarchy factions. All on foot missions are located in system and you always have the option to kill unless it's a clean mission. You just have to avoid the staion elevator bug and turn in your missions in your ship. Once the mission objective is done, you can't reshare your mission. Remember that all on foot missions can be shared. Once again quadrupling your rewards. Follow me, Pharmer Jon, for more farming methods... 😆
hard yes... best AX cargo and refugee hauler... has the speed to outrun the Thargoids... In about 4 months I made around 8 billion doing mostly that...
Make a video how to make good money mining please I own 2 cutters one for trade and 1 for mining but I can't seem to make enough mining platinum all day
Is there any non open players here who like mining trading and bounty hunting that are solo or willing to make group in private. New to pc but ultimately this is my 4th account. My xbox friend haven't came over to pc
I have gone from zero credits to owning a fleet carrier, cutter, anaconda, krait phantom and MK2 as well a python in the time u have been mentioning u where saving up for a fleet carrier.... the quickest way to get credits is first foot exploration.. in 1 hour i could get up tp 400 million sometimes more.. mining is shit, i only do it to do something different not to earn credits..
That's impressive. Congrats. I recently made 350mil from exobio on first footfall planets. It was fun. When that gets boring I do mining. As I always mention, I'm not in a rush so I do what I enjoy in a given time. Plus I only have like one hour per day to play games.
I've made a Cutter for mining, and it does great , i mostly do deep core mining as it is the mining i enjoy the most, filling that cargo hold allow really long mining trips, it's pretty nice. but overall it's not a ship I'd fly daily, having the cockpit in the front is my main issue with that ship, my first big ship was the anaconda, and it's still to this day my main traveling ship, I find it much nicer/easier to fly. I really wish we could have some SLF with other purpose than fight in elite, would be so cool to deploy SLFs and have them do some mining with the while the mothership collects.
In 20% of the time it took you grinding rank you could have pirate killed yourself the 5 billion 😊. Yes, the Cutter is of use, as a Cargo ship, miner, AX combat ship, ... I own a cargo and mining Cutter, no AX one because I prefer small and medium ship combat. 2 Cutters because I hate to swap modules for a different usage pattern. It's nice to kill the pirates in mining spots instead of running, enough Hardpoints for that left 😂
@lootandgrind ...that's the one ship I didn't manage to find any use for. I have one but rarely fly it. Sometimes, very rarely, to lazily kill a wing mission pirate that usually comes highly engineered and in a nasty wing. But I prefer a FDL for that as well, just a little more work. The Anaconda or Cutter are just better in everything, maybe but combat. And combat sucks in any large ship, I prefer the agile Vipers, Vultures, Alliance ships and FDL, all come without rank grind. Rank comes with time anyway, I recommend against any grind in Elite. Before you know you are King and Admiral without ever grinding for it.
Congrats on the Cutter! (One) Cutter is my comfort ship in Elite. It was the ship I saw on screenshots before playing the game and knew I needed to have one. Years later, I have three dedicated builds. A hauler/miner. An evacuation build for the burning planetary ports. And my explorer. The explorer is the special one: It was that one I got first. It was the ship I took on the 5k LY engineer unlock trip. Which made me discover I enjoy exploring - and taking screenshots. (Unfortunately, I now can't take any other ship exploring. It just feels so wrong...)
dont buy the carrier, its very, very overrated, and it will turn you into its slave, u will have to gain weekly credits just to maintain it, and if u fail, or pause playing for a while, u'll lose the carrier.
Idk if it's worth it, you never answered the damn question. How much more would would it have been to type out the answer when your using a crappy ai voice?
Absolutely it's perfect for a relaxing mining session
Imagine gaslighting the concept of grind in ED.
Grinding definitely exists, don't be toxic and act like it doesn't. Everyone who upgrades parts knows grinding exists. Crazy gaslighting.
I also use it for mining and shieldless for bigger profits I'm also in the process of building It for ax combat
It's also built for hauling
So you run greedy. Aka shieldless. I used to in my T-9 "Greased Doorstop" but I switched to the smallest I could and still have shields. With anything but gankers it's fine, and my flying still makes up for that with the gankers.
I enjoy the cutter as a miner and a cargo hauler. It can hold 798 tonnes for CGs or 522 tonnes for mining. It's excellent.
That sounds awesome o7
That's awesome
That's awesome. I'm keeping my T9 for trade runs and using the Cutter for mining.
@@lootandgrind Yeah. If I still had my T9 she'd be strictly a tritium depot runner. I may re-visit this now that I own a FC.
Yep it's like the ship is made for mining and cargo
Hell ..................................................................................... yes."
I heard an existential crisis in that pause.
Thank you. I already have a T9 with 750tons for cargo runs. But I'm considering getting another Cutter just because it looks so cool lol
I have 3 Cutters (all A rated and engineered)
Combat - 918m cr
Mining - 593m cr
Cargo/Passengers - 570m cr
My mining cutter has the same cargo capacity as yours and I made 150m cr mining platinum in a single trip a few days ago (my Merchant rank is Elite V now).
A while ago I was using my cargo Cutter and fleet carrier working with a squadron to manipulate the influence of factions so we could get into the system and was moving 18,000t of cargo a day for over a month. In the end we were able to get into the system and take over.
Wow congrats, Commander. I hope to get there someday soon. o7
Not to mention the jump scare every time some npc passenger liner decided to waffle in the system chat
The planned build should do the trick. Plenty of turrets, shielding, and a fighter bay for NPC pirates, and still over 600 tons of cargo bay! Look forward to the vid comparing mining ships, to see if the Cutter is an improvement on the mining 'conda
Cutter is definitely better than T9. I got mine equipped with some weapons to take on pirates so I've been logging out and jumping right into mining
5 Cutters? Wow lol
I would love to see a how-to from this channel on how to be successful at rescue missions.
Having trouble benefiting from other people’s videos in this regard
glad you’re loving the cutter!
I haven't really done any rescue missions yet but thank you for the suggestion. I'll keep it in mind for a future video
I will keep that in mind if I decide to go for the Corvette someday. o7
@@cmdrandreyuenari4150 the only thing i like in this game is exploring the void, kinda hard to be in federal space and several hundred lightyears from sol at the same time. might find a good starport to sell exploration data and see if that gives me rank but i dont think it does
@@Wither_Strike Well, then you don't need the Corvette, do you?
Or drive you to AFK... Works wonders when you just want CR.
@@perilousrange I have a T-10 AFK build for that one.....lol
congrats for your cutter cmdr!
Best investment in my game. Spent over 1 billion on it, but it brought it back 6-7 times already. It's a great multi role flagship.
Thank you, Commander. o7
cutty is great especially when you engineer them thrusters, i had 4 of them till i unlocked the corvette, i still have one for mining
I resisted getting a Cutter for a long time (I'm a Fed)
But now I own 3, one for Trade and PvE (not a bad jump range either - good for piracy/BGS), one for Thargoids and Maelstroms (very cold), and one for pure combat (one billion credits!)
I hate to admit it - but I love em!
Best multirole in the game o7
She done all
Thead (my have less 20ly jump)
Combat
Maning
Very fast 500 km
But driff (not bost when came for lrand)
its a great ship, shieldless trader with some point defense, just hit boost and outrun all npc pirates, including mambas. hauls alot of cargo, it vents heat better than all other ships. its also great for mining becuse its faster in the asteroid fields, but i prefer the Type9 and Type10 for mining because of the better view. i still use my fully armed Type9 for hauling as well because i like the challenge. the Cutter would probably make a great maelstrom ship and possibly a medium range expedition/explorer ship
My cutter is the dedicated forklift for my carrier. Perfect use case. Lots of cargo and high defense.
Pve for me is best done in the Vette.
I understand. But There's still a lot to enjoy in game. I chose to ignore the Thargoid stuff and been enjoying other activities much better since
Do a bit of everything, set small goals and make a space adventure of each of them.
Best use I have found is for NPC piracy. Plenty of space for hatch breakers and the shields can tank any defence
I spent like 50 million on donations too lol but in the end it's totally worth the grind
No biggie thanks to the shields though.
yo, old comment but I'm really interested in your build
@@andresespana3216 Unfortunately long gone. I no longer play ED, but even if I was I would not need a Cutter for exploration anymore. I got myself a fleet carrier at some point so there really wasn't a need for a heavy ship with everything on board anymore. The Cutter became a regular mining/trading ship and smaller ships replaced it for exploration.
@@nopizzanoglory fair enough, thx for the answer
That's awesome. I'm looking forward to hitting my 6 billion goal with it
If you are looking for raw mining profits, and not trade rank, the best deal in the game is laser mining bromellite. There is a high buying fleet carrier in Bhotho, with hotspot in same system.
Thanks. I'll check it out
@Loot and Grind For short-range mining like this example, I actually find an Anaconda is superior.
Sounds like a plan
Completely agree. Flying the Cutter for the first time was an incredible feeling. Thanks for your comment, Commander. o7
I'm a BGS player for my faction.
So yes... A little bit hardcore... (My problem I know ;) )
The cutter is my go to for Black marketing especially.
But also my main ship to move cargo.
The Type 9 does the job very well.
But it is to slow...
Sounds of Cutter is really great, i think i'll buy it eventually, this thing will replace my mining Anaconda so i could put her to other stuff
The sounds alone make it worth it for mining sessions
Doing the imp rank grind right now :) Great video!
Right now I am grinding rank for the Cutter to use as a cargo runner. Then I need to decide if I want to keep using a Type-9 for mining or something different.
the cutter earned me elite status in trading last week. Love it.
Congrats
I use it for cargo wing mining missions. About a bil per day ani I buy the commodity not mine it. It turns better and is faster, better for interdiction than a t9.
I had one first time i got it but i crashed into the ground and was like am i able to get the starter ship but still get the cutter back but turns out no im not now im back with the type 5
Still working for mine but im gonna do a hybrid of laser/core and tradeing because thats all i do saving corvette for combat
Just bought mine a few hours ago , worth every penny 😊
I used it for as a heavy shielded hauler. If something tries to stop me i just ignore it and go on.
Using a Cutter to transport power play materials and random trade missions for federation rank.
That's impressive
Cutter is super worth it for bulk transport and mining...makes a mean haz rez/cz ship too
Yep I'm gonna push it to the limit lol
Great at trading, combat , and mining the cutter is a close second , on my list of ships. Where you mining at btw ? I haven’t mined since odyssey but have enjoyed it in the past. 112 Herculis is one of my favorites for metallic and core mining. Although, you’ll need a fleet carrier.
I mine mostly at Omicron Capricorni B
@@lootandgrind , cheers . If you ever want to run wing missions just let me know
Thanks for sharing this :D
Once you get her fully upgraded she is a beast.
o7
Yes, I own the Cutter too :)
And using it for tririum suplise for my FC :)
500 m/s at boost and 720 t. of cargo ;)
Its super ship :)
Awesome 👍
I know its hard but it would be nice if you make longer videos
I agree,, but only because your delivery is fab !! congrats on the Cutter purchase
I will consider that for future videos. Thanks
Thank you
what is your primary space sim game now ?
Elite Dangerous
I would take out all those drones and put only 1 multi 7 drone, it is the one that brings all the types of drone, and it would fill the racks
That's a good analogy lol it's about 5 billion for the carrier and you'll need another 2b for the modules.
Pretty ain't it?
And, yes, i do own one. In fact, i own two. Main use is mining but i also use one for anti-piracy missions and haz-rez locations.
Don't have it yet. Plan is too make it into, what it looks like it is for. As a Luxury Yacht. Transport for paying customers.
Can't wait I won't one it looks awesome
I got the cutter years ago and have been trying to grind for fleet carrier till today. How are you planning on making 5-8 billion fast? Am really getting burnt out with the grind. And yes I tried exobio its just not as fun as mining for me anyway.
I'm doing a rotation of mining, trading, and Exobiology. Whenever I feel bored I switch. I know there are faster ways to make money but I'm in no rush. Just enjoying the journey
i want all out on the Empire/Ranks and reached King and doing the same on the Federation/Rank to, i use my cutter for trading.
That's awesome
How many limpets on the go at any one time?
I think it's 9 limpets. I didn't have to wait after the rock is depleted to load it up. It was fast.
That's true but when it gets a bit repetitive I switch to a different activity or take a break for a couple days
In terms of efficiency the Cutter is not much better than the Type 9 for mining, but it can defend itself.
Oh yeah I made sure to add a few weapons to it
I hate big ships, supercruise handling is painful as is normal space. The corvette handles the best but is slower than heck.
hard yes... best AX cargo and refugee hauler... has the speed to outrun the Thargoids... In about 4 months I made around 8 billion doing mostly that...
I have a cutter and I use it for hauling
Looking to recruit new player for squadron 160 SOAR .
Make a video how to make good money mining please I own 2 cutters one for trade and 1 for mining but I can't seem to make enough mining platinum all day
Will do
@@lootandgrind thank you
I have a cutter use it to run cargo 792 cargo cap
Got mine 2 weeks ago ish then i got burned out and only did some work on it i think it was worth it
Is there any non open players here who like mining trading and bounty hunting that are solo or willing to make group in private. New to pc but ultimately this is my 4th account. My xbox friend haven't came over to pc
Go to Inara or Reddit and look for Squadrons to join. There are plenty
Where u mine? Cus I can t finde a great spot :(
Omicron Capricorni B. The B1 plenet has a ring with double platinum overlapped spot.
I don't have it yet, but want it.
Go for it it's a great ship
Also I'd like to buy a Clipper, but I think it should be a midsized ship...
@@volodymyrkudriavtsev Can confirm.
but i do like ur videos.. good luck
Is it just me, or does it kinda sound like a Romulan Warbird?
Cope ship acquired. congrats!
Yeah I'm still trying to get used to handling this thing. It feels gigantic lol
Good idea. Maybe I'll try that to get the Corvette
Before you know you are King and Admiral without ever grinding for it.
i got it in 2 weeks when i started playing XD
basking. i use it for basking.
That's very impressive
200 million? 🤯 0:44 200 million what, pesos?
Oh, credits.
Bitcoin 😂
yes, and next time its on special, buy 6 like I did
wow lol
If you want real Modules, the Cutter will easily break the 1 Billion Credits barrier.😉
dont buy the carrier, its very, very overrated, and it will turn you into its slave, u will have to gain weekly credits just to maintain it, and if u fail, or pause playing for a while, u'll lose the carrier.
I know. But I like setting goals. It gives me a purpose to play and chase after it.
Its also got such… such BS shields for combat.

Idk if it's worth it, you never answered the damn question. How much more would would it have been to type out the answer when your using a crappy ai voice?
