  • If you're eating AIP and on-the-go and suddenly find yourself hungry and without a snack, what do you do? Or if you've traveled somewhere and haven't had a chance to prep any food? Don't let panic set in, just use this list of foods you can get at most grocery stores, Targets, Wal-marts and even some gas station convenience stores.
    Note: This list is primarily focused on what you can get in the US, but if you are located outside of the US there are still quite a few things on this list that you should be able to find.
    I refer to my 25 AIP Snacks video, which gives you snack ideas for the Autoimmune Paleo Protocol (AIP). Many of them have to be prepared, but it's a good list if you're looking for non-emergency snack ideas: • 25 AIP Snack Ideas (fo...

    I love organic apple sauce and I put cinnamon on top. Avocado mash with plantain chips. I bought a dehydrator (love it!!) so I make dehydrated apples with cinnamon and thin strips of beef with Celtic salt. I only eat cooked veggies but I often bring boiled carrots mixed with sweet potatoes and drizzle a small amount of honey on top. Organic red grapes and one naval orange contains your daily dose of vitamin C. 👍 Also soup in a thermos stays warm all day. I always bring an insulated tote with me!

    Good list. Just gets me thinking. Some days I really don't leave the house because I know I will stop and get an ice cream. Know what I mean? I need to put some of these snacks in my car!

    My favorite snack is dried seaweed. Comes in 10 individual packs. You gotta have a taste for them tho I’ve tried sharing with others and they didn’t like it 😭

      It sure is, but so easy to forget sometimes in our world of fast food meals. But that's it - FOOD is there. Not fake food or processed food or stuff that really won't nourish us.

    I wish I would have found this earlier in the week. My biggest challenge is that I’m picky. I don’t like most seafood, meat, mushrooms, olives, radishes, beets, I could go on. Bone broth creeps me out.🤣 I’d rather starve than eat a canned clam or oyster.

    👍☺ The only thing I would add here is that any packaged food you pick up, turn to the ingredients list to be sure there's nothing in there you're sensitive to. Super important!!

    Info please honey. So if you can eat tinned crab 🦀 I take it that you can eat tinned wild salmon and tuna etc ?..great to keep in the fridge for easy snacks or salads. Thank you 😊 I’m starting later next week. Waiting for my AIP compliant foods to come and lots of batch cooking to be done. Xxxx💖💖💖

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  5 лет назад +1

      you should be able to eat tinned crab - just make sure there aren't any weird ingredients in it. I had a hard time finding any at my local store without a bunch of bleaches, etc in it, but if you can find a clean version (ideally just water and salt, etc) then that's fine.

    They say that Hashimotos disease is often caused by the environment and/or heavy metal contamination in the body, with mercury being a common offender. So I think canned sardines would be much better then high mercury fish such as canned tuna...

    All the pork rinds I find has one or two E-numbers in them; supposedly it’s an antioxidant. Is that alright to eat?

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  5 лет назад

      Hmm, I’ve honestly never heard of that! You’re not in the US, right? Do you see that on any other types of products?

    • @linef.nielsen9998
      @linef.nielsen9998 5 лет назад

      Michele Spring nope, I’m from Denmark. Hmm... I don’t usually snack a lot but going on the AIP to heal my stomach infections and having my chocolate taken 😂 I don’t have a lot of options. So, honestly I don’t know if it’s used in other things.

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  5 лет назад +2

      @@linef.nielsen9998 so I was curious and did a little searching - Wikipedia was actually helpful in this regard - it lists each E- number and what it supposedly represents. Some are naturally occurring components in food and some are additives. The additive-variety I'd avoid, but if it's a naturally occurring one I'd say they're fine. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E_number.

    I found green tea on the no-go list for AIP.🤔

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  2 года назад +1

      nah, green tea is fine. You may not want to drink gallons of it at a time as there is caffeine in it but AIP is not a caffeine-free protocol. The only reason coffee is not allowed is because it's a seed.

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  2 года назад

      Oh- and the list you saw may have been for Amy Myer's version of AIP - the one I talk about is for Dr. Sarah Ballantyne's version (which is the more prominent version you'll see the majority of recipes for, etc on the internet). They're pretty much the same thing but there are a few items that are allowed on one and not on the other, etc (like black pepper for instance is not allowed on Dr. Ballantyne's version but allowed on Dr. Myer's version)

    Canned. Clams ?

  • @musicalatv
    @musicalatv 3 года назад +1

    I thought black, green, and white tea was not ok because of caffeine. I thought only herbal teas were ok .
    Also I've been having a hard time finding coconut milk without gar gum. I also have not found any canned oysters or clams etc that have AIP acceptable oils.
    I live near Seattle.

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  3 года назад +1

      AIP isn't a caffeine-free protocol, so it is ok to have small amounts of it. But it definitely is a cautionary one - if you notice any effects from drinking it (other than being more awake/alert) then you should definitely stop. And let's see - this is the coconut milk I typically use - and I get it from Amazon: amzn.to/3nYJUJb and many of the Crown Prince brand of canned shellfish are good (though watch out for pepper, etc), like this one: amzn.to/3o1ntTE . I usually can find these at Whole Foods, Sprouts, and Natural Grocers if you have those near you, though Amazon works for them too. And one other place to check that's great is ShopAIP - all AIP-compliant stuff: partners.shopaip.com/idevaffiliate.php?id=180

    • @musicalatv
      @musicalatv 3 года назад +2

      @@MicheleSpring I thought I saw something say no caffeine, good to know. I have loose leaf tea. Thank you for the information! I also have hashimoto's. I have not been tested for celiac, but I feel like I get cold like symptoms when I eat gluten. I started AIP 2 weeks ago and got your 21 freezer meals and 4 soup meal plans. They have been helpful, but I don't know how a full season of 7 meals can be prepped in 1 hour. Took me at least 2.5 hours to prep 6 of 7 meals.

    Can we eat apple gate organic bacon?

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  5 лет назад +3

      yes, the Organic Sunday bacon is ok. You just want to make sure there is no pepper or that it says "spices" on it. Celery powder and sugar are ok as they're used in the curing process and AIP isn't a sugar-free protocol.

      @@itsmeagain6407 well actually, sorry - I forgot they had more than one organic one. My stores only seem to carry the Sunday one so that's how I know about that one. But looking on their website, is it the No Sugar one? That one's fine (both the organic and natural)

    Would Spindrift sparkling water be AIP compliant?

    • @MicheleSpring
      @MicheleSpring  3 года назад

      I believe it is one of the ones that IS compliant. Unless they've made changes to it since I last checked, but as long as it say: Water, Natural Flavors (or Essence or whatever they call it) I believe it's ok.
