Owned a sweet 1982 12A GS. Oversteer almost killed me a few times, but what a blast to drive. Old school manual choke, fairly easy car to self maintain, oil, air filters. Couldn’t afford a 944 and thought the Z was too big. Not a fast car, but the joy it brought me was priceless. Fellow RX7 drivers used to activate our pop headlights as we passed each other on two lane roads. Driving down PCH1 on a sunny spring day while listening to the Footloose soundtrack on my cassette player was peak 80’s. Thanks for this!
I would love to to see some more of these review type of videos, where also some of the engineering and technical details are explained or at least touched upon. Even though I have to admit, I'm just as curious to see what's become of the kenworth
Looked at one in the early 90's. Sadly I decided it wasn't a good combination with Swedish winter and my use of car as transport vehicle with the scouts. Black with wine red interior and a targa roof. But it sure was fun to drive and surprisingly comfortable for along guy.
cool video, super cool car. I was always surprised these early RX7s had steering box still - seemed like a strange decision given it was a sports car. But I suppose most things still had steering box back then.

My first car was an '83 base S model. All the work done on it was by your Dad.
Great analogy with phantom weight versus heavyweight boxing... would love to see you do a review on the RX8

Great vid! Such a clean example
I would like to find a nice 1985 GSL-SE. would go nice with our FD RX7 and R3 RX8. :)
It definitely would be nice addition!
