Here's how to change a right hand block on a Worcester, also known as the return unit.
Soak all connections in WD-40 for a few mins beforehand and use plenty of silicone grease on the new parts.
The block had split on the cold mains side so needed replacing. When replacing the right hand block I always replace the flow turbine adaptor because it always breaks when you remove it and the PRV as well whilst I'm at it. The new block comes with a new diverter built in so you don't need to replace that.
A lot of people struggle with the bypass, but if you see in the video, I wiggled it out of the left hand block by removing the gas pipe connection so it gave me more room to manoeuvre it out.
Part numbers given below:
Right hand block 87161064420
Flow turbine adapter 87161064330
PRV 87161064310
Just done my first RH block today following your excellent video.
I also did my second RH block straight after.
Both boilers were CDIs
Thanks for your easy to follow video.
I also used your flow turbine adaptor video during the same repairs.
Nice one glad it helped! 🙌🏾
As a installer not a breack down engineer I was able to follow this video and do the job thanks again
Nice one mate 👍🏽
Great video mate, top quality filming as well. I'd say this channel is fast becoming my favourite for gas engineer. This kinda stuff is super helpful for myself, I recently qualified as a gas engineer so trying to pick up as much as I can before I go out on the tools.
Thanks mate, glad you're finding it useful 👍🏽
Bro you’re videos are literally life saving. Thank you for sharing the knowledge brother 👊🏿❤️
Nice one 👊🏽
Love strip downs mate, done most of these but look forward to jobs I haven’t done yet. Keep them coming.
Thanks mate
Good videos mate helped me build a lot more confidence with repairs 👍
Top video, love these strip down repair jobs, keep them coming please 👍
Thank you very much for sharing this with us. Top video !!!
Nice one 👍🏾
Going to do one soon mate. Thanks for the video.
Nice one good luck!
Good video mate very helpful with a great talk through on what your doing and why 👍
Thank you mate 👍🏽
👏👏👏👏 top work once again CP.
Very clear 👍
Thank you mate 👊🏽
Great vid, just had this done as I was not confident enough, so wish I'd seen this...
Sometimes doing it yourself is the best way. The next time will be much easier 👍🏽
Clear and no BS.... well done
Thank you 👍🏽
Honestly your videos are excellent. Keep up the work bro
Thanks for sharing good job 👍🏻
You made this look so easy. The big question is how did you manage change the rh manifold block without cutting your hands. Worcesters pretty much always need a shock arrestor. Even if there isn't a water meter present. Slowly looking through your library of uploads 👍🏼.
Thanks man, black mamba gloves 😉
Thanks buddy done this job 1st time today your video helped alot job well done.
Awesome mate, hope customer paid for the block
Yup, I'd pointed it out already before I started on the plate so they knew
Very nice and topman keep up the good work mate
Thanks so much for this video I really can't thank you enough I wasn't sure whether I could do this and your video really gave me the confidence I needed. You're doing amazing thing
Fantastic, thank you
Nice one mate
Good work
Nice job
Nice job, fella. I hate Worcesters. I remember the first time I changed a left hand block, I was nearly in tears!😂
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
👍🏾
Nice video very helpful will start doing this to my boiler my flow unit is leaking, just want to know how much was the unit and where did u get it from ? Thanks
Did one today right hand block. Took me 2 hrs. Took all the block out. Riped my hands to bits.
Ah man, yeah they can be a nightmare. I try not to take the whole block out if I can help it
@@cputilitysolutions I really struggled with getting the nut to bite on the return valve. Think I might try your way next time.
@@cputilitysolutions Another highly appreciated video from yourself. How much to price up for exactly the same as this as a job? Thanks
@@-Anon-Ymous labour I charge 160+vat
Made it look easyyyyy
Nice.
Hi. What would you charge to do this job. I have a leak from exactly where you show in this video. I feel confident to attempt this as I have already replaced the flow turbine a few years ago. Just would like to know if it would cost a lot to get someone out to do it. Many thanks
Hi mate, for this job I would charge £160+vat labour plus the part
Thanks for your reply. Very much appreciated
Good job mate, how did you manage to get the return brass nut into the return manifold? Every time I do it, it’s a pain in the arse. Also what light are you using please?
Thanks mate, it took a lot of swearing and sweating! I tried to put it on a flat surface and then push the manifold onto it. The 2 lights I'm using are Unilite SLR 500 & 1750 👍🏽
Did one thurs
Great video mate. What are the part numbers for all the parts you changed in this video?
Sorry mate. I just saw it on the notes. Keep the good work mate.
Nice one 👊🏾
How long in real time did it take you ? Amazing video 👏
About 90mins
@@cputilitysolutions brilliant 👏 👌 👍
How do you fill the rads on sealed system?
With the filling loop
@@cputilitysolutions so 1 bar of water fills a whole system?
@@lostinthoughtscalminsilenc8167 yes
Nice Vid good if you name tools your using ☝️😀
How much should a job like this cost a customer?
I charge £160+vat labour
I've been quoted £390 all in
@@Marc-wg2mr sounds about right with the parts included
@@cputilitysolutions Thanks - just wanted to make sure I wasn't being ripped off!
I've just replaced the right hand block due to a leak.. I've set the pressure is at 1.2 bar.. I have 2 flashing resets to one flashing blue.. and its locked out. Any ideas where I should look? I've bled to top bleed on top of the silver cylinder.. that's all I've done. Please help me
Have a look at the MIs, the fault finding section will tell you what the sequence of lights mean 👍🏽
@@cputilitysolutions thank you. Whats the 'Mls'? Do you mean the hand book? That says the light sequence is 'ignition lockout' due to; gas present and pressure, gas valve- ohms etc, combustion CO2, flue condition, blocked condonation pipe, gas valve adjustment, ignition electrodes - harness/ connections replace circuit board.. Somethings wrong, I think the board.. it's 20 years old.. I'll let you know one I get my multimeter out
Yes that's it (Manufacturers Instructions). Check all the usual basics of ignition and you should be able to find the fault 👍🏽
@@cputilitysolutions You're so kind. I'll try my best today. I'm a hairdresser you see.. You've got a really good channel helping us all out.. I know my way around a circuit board tho.😉😉 all the 👌
@@cputilitysolutions I fixed it! I checked the MI, it mentioned PCB. The pcb was wet, plus mineral deposits in area's, I cleaned them away with electrical contact cleaner/alcohol and a sonic tooth brush. Dry and she's up and running.. Really good video.. You've saved me so much money I'm sure. Thank you so much for your great video and time. xx
The dreaded right hand block 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
How much do you charge to replace that manifold
£150 labour
@@cputilitysolutions thanks pal
Very helpful and tbh shows worcester for the over engineered junk they are.
Yup absolutely! Thanks for the feedback 👍🏽
Worcesters are terrible all have the exact same problems, cant belive I am saying this but I would rate an ideal higher than a worcester 😲
