  • Boiler service is a very common job as a gas engineer and should be pretty straight forward. NOT on this occasion when we came across this Worcester Bosch combi boiler
    We will be taking a look at the Worcester Compact from Worcester Bosch. We have 2 boiler services to show you, a routine boiler service which is straight forward and the other boiler service has got to be THE WORST boiler I've seen on a boiler service.
    In the video you will demonstrate in the first part how to service the boiler from how to remove the front case, how to clean a condensate trap, how to put a Worcester combi boiler into service mode, correct fan pressure for a Worcester compact, minimum and maximum telegan readings and discussing common faults you may encounter when carrying out a boiler service as a gas engineer on this boiler.
    In the 2nd part we will see how to perform a full strip down service, how to replace a Worcester combi AAV (auto air vent) how to replace the sump seal and showing you the condition of the boiler. We also investigate Worcester boiler error code EA 227

      One problem we all face unfortunately is prise as to strip a boiler down for example the cdi I do the top burner gasket front door seal barring platt and electrodes comes to at least £100 + 2 hours Labour makes it expensive you tell people that prise and they go somewhere else so normally I do a standard service for new customers until I get to know them then explain why they need to have the full service etc

    I would love some companies to actually detail what gets done on a service as I've had several companies do a "service" on my boiler and the only thing that is ever consistant between them is the flue/gas readings. Everything else is hit and miss what one companie does to the next. Pretty much all of them dont bother with a full service.

    Mate what i do is take trap off completely, get a folding bucket in there and put a regin bung in sump. I use small/fine wire brush sticks like flue brushes and a hard brush and fill about a half a kettles worth of boiling water, get some bi carbonate soda and white vinegar. It will start to bubble up so dont panic lol. Whilst water mixture is in brush the hell out of it and then let it sit for 2 mins and then brush again. After about 20 mins youll get loads out and then use a pump spray bottle or small karcher cleaner and blast it through again. Those cleaning tools are wank and im actually suprised youve got one, as they are like hens teeth 😂😂. Those electrodes should of been changed there and then mate, they are really cheap aswell. How they are igniting the gas is beyond me 😂😂

    Hi, was you asking about the gas rates when you was at that meter?
    That gas meter you was at is an imperial gas meter so the eqatios are different from the metric ones. The imperial gas rate goes- one full revolution timed in seconds. Say 42 seconds. 3600 seconds in an hour divided by your 42 seconds gives you the cubiq feet an hour, 85.7. Then times that by 0.028 to get your cubiq meters an hour which for 42 seconds would be 2.4 cubiq meters an hour. Then you times that by the calorific value of natural gas which is 10.76. That would then give you 25.8kw gross and then devided by 1.1 will give you 23.4kw net.
    With the metric gas meters it's a 2 min test. Note your numbers on the meter 1st and then after the 2 min test. Subtract your 2nd reading from the 1st reading. Example after subtracting the 2nd from the 1st you'll get something like 0.085. Then you times that 0.085 by 30 to get the cubiq meters an hour which would be 2.55 cubiq meters an hour. You then times that again by the calorific value to get 27.4kw gross and then divided by 1.1 = 24.9kw net.
    I hope that's a help mate. The numbers never change so you'll always remember them and especially if you don't use an app.

    I had a propane cdi classic recently, not been serviced for long time and heat cell was cemented up. Two hours to scrape, removed 2.5 mugs of oxide, then rinsed out even more. Made boiler work again but cannot get fan diff near spec. Aluminium heat exchangers work if cleaned properly once in a while .

    What is it with servicing Worcester boilers, you have to buy seperate tools to clean the heat exchangers. Plus some are not cheap.
    Good work on a shite boiler.

      3 different tools I’ve got on van for Worcester boilers to clean them, no other boiler I can think of you need that many, thanks mate 👍

    Better to take heat cell out and blast it with high pressure washer in garden when it's that choked.

    • @bluebulldog_uk
      @bluebulldog_uk  7 месяцев назад +1

      It would be but it’s cost and time to do it, should be an easier way with them boilers

    • @raul835
      @raul835 7 месяцев назад

      @bluebulldog_uk I work almost exclusively on Worcester's.. so getting heat ex out and blasting it is relatively quick for me.. I'm not so quick on other manufacturers though.

    I hope you didn't charge your regular service charge. That looks like it's never been service, to be honest it's should be classed as more of a repair

      We did charge extra but spoke to customer first about it 👍

    when they have problems they all ways think a service will sort it out. if it was ok they would not have it serviced. come across a lot of people if it aint broke don't fix it

    • @bluebulldog_uk
      @bluebulldog_uk  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah I get people call with breakdowns asking for a service to fix it, unfortunately some breakdowns are avoided when serviced correctly every year

    I would take one look at that boiler and condemn it. I would nt work on it, walk away or fit now boiler. You will get called back to it forever

    • @bluebulldog_uk
      @bluebulldog_uk  7 месяцев назад

      Can’t really condemn a boiler because it needs a service, yes it needs some work but it’s working safely, reading all within tolerance, it will need new electrodes so I’m expecting that call but I couldn’t just turn it off, if it fails and dangerous then fair enough but 2 hours work and the customer still has a working boiler

      I bet mine's the same. 12yo baxi, never seen them take it apart and clean like that. Usual is test gas, combustion, pump up pressure cylinder and that's it.
