I love this. Trying multiple ways to play shots helps not only find what works best for the individual, but gives so many options for different lies or green conditions.
I agree with having only 1 or 2 wedges. I have a 52* wedge and use it for everything 100 yards in. I had a 60 but found that I just couldn't control it as well as my 52 so I took it out of the bag.
As ever Steve excellent video and start of vid Ailsa fits in well with your humour and approach. My other half is usually strong on chipping but of late lost all feel and confidence. Been out today after watching Aisla and out into practice her instruction and ignored your bit about tigers release. Hey presto chipping it really well and found the content really informative and easy to follow. All ROCK SOLID thanks to Ailsa if you see where I’m coming from 👍👍😂
So i play 4 wedges (PW, GW, SW, LW) and in reality, I almost never hit my SW. I don't think I could live without my GW or LW, but I could definitely see myself swapping out my SW for a driving iron or just having a lighter bag :)
I would agree that the 4 wedge concept has confused amateurs no end, they simply do not have the consistency of strike to keep distance control in check
Dave Pelz and his short game bibles from 20 years ago influenced a generation of golfersto carry PW/G/SW/Lob and sometimes even a 64 degree…he also had (and continues to run) short game schools across the US which have influenced technique as well as gear. His first book on putting was very eye opening for me when it first came. Bring science via his background as an engineer made understand line and speed much more understandable.
grew up with just the PW and SW. These days it’s 50;54;58 and often use 4/5 hybrid and 7w for chips around the green. In reality probably better off dropping out the 58 and putting in a chipper! 😳😄👍🏼
i picked up a chipper at a rummage shop to try and this particular one had way too much loft and i could only hit it about one distance and hared it so i gave it back. i would like to check out the green one i've seen, i think it's called pure strike maybe. have you tried any of them?
One reason we have more wedges than before is because the stupid golf club manufacturers decided a few years back to strengthen their lofts to fool us into believing we could hit their 6-iron further than their competitors 6-iron. Therefore we needed a gap wedge between the now stronger pitching wedge and a sand iron with the original loft. I used to chip with an 8-iron but chipping with wedges allows you to use the bigger bounce for a more consistent shot. On a tight lie, chipping near the back foot has risks of digging in and hitting fat shots. Move the ball forward and use the bounce Luke. (It's nearly May the 4th!)
Maybe not but then you have a gap in the lofts thatwas not there prior to the manufacturers strengthening the lofts. I suggest you need 3 or 4 wedges to be good at golf because these are the scoring club. At the other end, few people buy a 3-iron because (and I've just compared my old and new sets) today's 4-iron is yesterday's 3-iron.
Get out and do 6 holes with this nice lady...ask her what her thought process is pre shot routines etc. Also, lady pro v stevie pro, matchplay on your hcaps ..Who will win 😊😊,it would be very watchable👍

Nice stuff. I use the motto for the follow through "hands low to let it roll; hands high to the sky to let it fly".
Again gr8 video steve so many options to try out 👍as always keep up the good work
Thank you both! Love TGM on hinging
Great video, very informal, but informative.
We need to see more of you two on the course.
Great video, enjoyed the chat, perhaps a 3 hole challenge is needed!
Just watched the video what a game changer, went and had a round afterwards made a massive difference Thanks
I’d love to just sit and listen to you two chatting about golf over a pint. Lovely voices and a nice energy between you. 💜
Drift away sometimes but always come back to eureka. Thanks Steve. USA
That’s golf👍👍

How long do you keep a closed face in the back swing Stephen hcp 8 thanks 😊

Great advice, decision made, no need to add a 50 wedge, away to practice rolling the club over 👍
Could you show more short game tips from gnarly tight lies please.

Some quality chipping 👌
From 75 meters in i only use SW for evrything only time i get GW around the green if the ball is burried deep in the grass
I wish I could chip like Alisa does. Awesome.

You’ll have mastered it then?
@@jimgavin1726 No only carry 2 wedges, one for chipping, one for bunkers

Great video. Thank you for the lesson. Just curious … how hard are you gripping the club? 1 = barely holding it, 10 = gripping with all of your might.
Need to do again,, never pick up any sound on mine,,, cheers Alan 🤔😊
I have a 47 and a 56, and that's it. I reckon there are definitely many wrong ways, but quite a few right ways. (I know a lot of the wrong ways, lol)
I think Ailsa definitely schooled you Steve!

Well described lesson.
Is your stance square or do you set up slightly open?
"Apologies for sound quality du to.. ACCENT! 🤣

Nobody is forcing you to buy all those wedges🤣🤣

@@simonleach3812 I am scratch and i don’t have 3-4 Wedges🤣🤣
So you don't have at least a pitching wedge, a sand wedge and a lob wedge. Good, you're my hero. Seve Ballesteros could do everything with a 3-iron!
@@simonleach3812 i got PW and SW

wish my pitching was as good as hers....
Soon
from the thumbnail i thought it was micah morris from good good lol
Can we have a translator please? 😂😂😂 nice helpful video
My knees. Very weak.
It looks like you open your stance just a bit. Yeah?
If golf is “this easy” then you would be playing on PGA tour winning every week and raking in the money instead of making RUclips videos🤣🤣🤣
