      Thank you, Ryan. We hope to return to making videos soon. Caring for my parents has made it difficult, but we are working to make it happen.

    The following comment was accidentally removed and is reposted on the behalf of Joe Bassett. Joe, I hope if you read this you will post again. Thank you.
    "Matt, thank you, you did a great job. My brother is the dealer in Connecticut and this model is very hot, we have three on order and potentially a fourth, I might have just sold another one today. I will use your video as a sales tool. Very informative. A tip of the hat to you! - Joe Basset, JD"

      StrikeForce K9, if you go to the Cutwater Web site you can "build" one for yourself and select the options you'd want, and it will give you a current price.

    Thanks for the great tour @matt! I'm looking at the 24 and have a couple of questions. How many people do you think could comfortably fish off the back? Is there an option to get a larger fuel tank? Lastly, is the fridge 12V?

    • @mattseclecticreviews3614
      @mattseclecticreviews3614  3 года назад +2

      Hello Efren 181, thank you for watching and for your questions. Your question for fishing is a preference issue. I have seen 5 guys with lines in the water from a 14 foot skiff. I personally prefer a lot of room, and the outboard definitely takes up some of the fishing real estate. If I were fishing from it I would fish two off the back. There is no official option for a larger fuel tank that I am aware of, and after my inquiries for some custom considerations for a new C28, I would not expect a favorable response to the request. The issue is that they can barely build them fast enough to meet the current demand, but maybe when things slow down they will be more accommodating. Often the boat construction is engineered around the chosen tank so a custom sized tank may still not be an option. As for the frig, it is 12 volt.

    What sort of differences are there between the older 242 and the modern 24C / 248 series?

    Nice review. What was your opinion of the overall build quality? I love the layout, but from the few videos I've seen, the fiberglass work looks a little messy and all visible hardware appears to be on the cheaper side.

      Greetings Incorrigible Aaron. Thank you for watching and for your comments. I am not certain what you are picking up in videos that I missed. I did inspect the overall hull and did not find any apparent mold deficiencies. The Gelcoat quality appeared on par or superior to comparably priced and equipped vessels. I did observe some inconsistencies in the non-skid which I have observed in past boat purchases I have made.
      Assembled components fit together nicely and are aligned well.
      The hardware is what I typically see in the price point, not top of the line but it should wear well with normal use.
      Overall I would say that build quality is very good for the price point and the target market.

    I’m not familiar with this brand...on a scale of 1-10, with one being cheap and 10 being the highest quality, what number would you give it?

    • @mattseclecticreviews3614
      @mattseclecticreviews3614  3 года назад +2

      Todd,
      Thank you for watching and for your question. Wow, I was not expecting to quantify it in that manner. Thank you for the challenge.
      My personal opinion rating:
      Overall Quality - 8
      Design - 8.5
      Overall Performance - 8.5
      Versatility - 8.5
      Value for Dollars Invested - 9
      I have yet to see a production boat that warrants a 10 in the preceding categories, so the Cutwater rates well in my opinion scale.
      Hope this helps.

    This has become my favorite boat. I’ve always been a Sea Ray fan and buyer and just imagine if they could have gone this route in a cheaper version of this in a Sundancer or Express Cruiser-type boat instead of whatever they want to call what they’re making now. I always buy used and I’ll be searching for one of these in a few years, even if they’re not readily available in the the Great Lakes region.

      Thank you, Steve, for your comment. I agree. It has been my experience that most factory offered Bimini’s do not compare in rigidity and strength. A custom Bimini is a good alternative to a hard top as a cost saving alternative.

      @mattseclecticreviews3614  4 года назад

      Thank you for your comment and I completely understand your frustration, especially since they have offered an inboard engine option in the past. Not everyone desires an outboard.

    • @seikibrian8641
      @seikibrian8641 4 года назад +1

      The original C-24 was designed for an inboard engine with Duo-Prop sterndrive. When the C-242 -- the outboard-equipped version -- was offered a few years later, the sales numbers spoke and so the underperforming inboard model was dropped shortly thereafter and the name of the outboard models reverted from C-242 to C-24. Cutwaters are production boats, not custom or even semi-custom, and costs are kept under control by economies of scale.

    • @mattseclecticreviews3614
      @mattseclecticreviews3614  4 года назад

      Robert, thank you for taking the time to watch my video and prompt me for information. Depending upon how the boat is equipped, you can expect to spend about $130,000. This is not a bare bones model. It is packaged as Sundance Yachts in Portland Oregon recommends for comfortable cruising. Price does not include the trailer. Expect to spend about another 8K for a good galvanized model.
      Fuel Burn Stats are taken from BOATING Magazine - Quoted for 300 HP upgrade:
      3500 RPM yields 16.6 MPH at 10.7 GPH
      4000 RPM yields 25.3 MPH at 13.2 GPH
      4500 RPM yields 37 MPH at 16 GPH

    Do you actually shower on the boat?

    • @mattseclecticreviews3614
      @mattseclecticreviews3614  4 года назад

      Thank you Merle for watching our video and taking the time to write me your question. Yes, we actually do shower on the boat. I am 5' 11" tall and weigh approximately 210 pounds, and I am most comfortable showering while seated on the marine toilet with the seat cover down. The shower enclosure has a curtain that stretches across the door to protect it. The toilet paper is protected by a cover that effectively shields it from shower water. The shelves are back far and high enough that their contents stay dry. For a boat with a 8' 6" beam, the head and shower enclosure is nice sized and functional.

    As a lifelong boater that has owned many different sizes and types of boats, I think this boat has amazing engineering and design. That said, I have to question if there are too many compromises. On the surface it seems this boat can do a bit of everything, but in reality I think because of that it has too many compromises, meaning it can't do anything really well. Granted I haven't researched this brand and offerings fully, but hopefully they take some of the best inovations of this and offer models based on the hull design that will be more focused on certain uses and to maximize those. I can't help but think many people, especially less experienced boaters will be drawn to this boat thinking it can do everything and then after a while realize what they truly use the boat for and that there are other boats that do those things better because they have less compromises.

      Thank you for taking the time to watch our video and comment; you raise some interesting points/questions. I have always claimed that the ideal boat is the best compromise. If you do investigate the boat further, I would be interested if your opinion remains unchanged. Best of boating to you.

      @@mattseclecticreviews3614 I actually have looked at more of the models the brand offers now. Looks like they do offer models that are more dedicated for given purposes and those look really appealing. IMO, these models are still too much of a compromise for most more experienced boaters. One would be better served by having 2 more dedicated boats. I do see how these models can greatly appeal to many, especially newer boaters. True that all boats are compromises and each persons comprises are different. Sometimes too much compromise becomes counter productive.

      @@seikibrian8641 If you can afford the boat in this video you can. I have 4 boats currently with a combined value of less that this boat, granted the 26' boat I have has depreciated as it is 13 years old to make this a true statement.
