Nowadays children have so much pressure to get things right the 1st time when they don't I think it really affects them. I have explained to my 11 year old son that FAIL stands for: First Attempt In Learning.
Having learned how to stock a pantry from my grandma is such a blessing! That way I know that I have plenty of ingredients to feed my family. I also have a freezer well stocked with bone broth & meats. It is all about being creative & not being wasteful!
Congratulations on the 175 K subscribers.. My husband and I really enjoy your channel.. My husband is 63 and I am getting ready to turn 58 in June.. Your videos give us something to look forward to.. We love the way you treat your animals and your wife and daughter are very sweet.. You and your family are doing an awesome job home steading.. I hope you make videos for many more years. Thank you so much for sharing your life with all of us. God loves you all. May God continue to bless you all...
I got teary eyed. I love how you care for your critters. When you stopped working to pick up and love on Figaro it just warmed my heart. Our schools are delivering lunches here too. I could not believe my eyes when I saw a big school bus go up my neighbor's drive across from my steam. I bet he had a really crazy time trying to turn around up there in the woods! Yay! I said 13 eggs! I can't wait to see Olivia's chicks! Blessings to all.
Good Morning, Lumnah Acres. The goats are super frisky this morning and it's good to see. Little P has an affinity for height and high places. Have a good and safe weekend.
As a former school principal, I always told my teachers that there are at least two ways to learn: first is what to do and the second is learning what not to do. Many times the not to do lesson was more valuable than the to do.
Hello Al, Our hens didnt seem to like the wooden dowel we first purchased for their roost, so we used a branch like you did. They loved it! (Little bigger around and more to grip, I guess.) When we first got them as chicks, I had a bit of trouble with them scooting out the door when maintaining the coop/brooder, so I made a 24" high drop in screen that fit across the inside of the door. Sure saved this old man a bunch of running and I could move it to the side when not needed! Keep up the great work!
CONGRATULATIONS on the 175,000 subscribers. I planted Aloe Vera seeds the other day. Hope that they come up. Said it could take 1-3 months. Waiting for Olivia's chicks to come. Not much longer for baby goats. The new roosting poles are are going to be awesome. Much love from OHIO ❤️❣️❣️❤️
Can't wait to see the new chicks. That stew looked really nice. We're certainly living in extraordinary times. I'm so grateful I had a good pantry stock, it's allowed me to help other members of my family, as well as putting less stress on local food supplies. I'm glad school meals are still getting to the children in need where you are. 🙏 I'm having to self isolate due to being in a high risk category of complications, so your videos have certainly helped give me ideas and hope. Thank you.
Weather is weird here in Maryland. High of 80 yesterday; only 50+ today. Might see rain and snow showers on Monday. You all have a great day! God Bless.
Morning, always watch you do chores the head out to mine, so glad I have hens and a garden during this time. I live in a small town and there are a lot of people with chickens and gardens. Stay safe.💕🙏
I am impressed that Gina is wearing chainsaw chaps. I see so many folks on Utube operating chainsaws without them. Hi from the UK my wife and me are in lockdown as we are over 70.
Gina really seems to be getting more comfortable in front of the camera :-) she just doesn’t realize how cute she is 😉 Kudos to you Gina for cooking for your family on a daily basis!
To respond to your challenge, Al..... I won't be planting a Victory Garden this year.....but..... I'm planning to celebrate with the rest of your patrons... the following year with my new homestead... it's exciting to be part of such an important and life changing movement. And, by life changing I mean... LIFE changing.. *hugs to everyone..
Hello Lumnah family, hope you're all doing well considering the times were living in. Regarding the stew, I grew up on a 10 acre farm and was always taught that stew can be made of anything and everything, especially left overs in the fridge. Nothing ever got wasted. If it wasn't used for cooking especially stews & soups, then "less than perfect" vegetable etc, was going to the pigs or chickens, or compost for the gardening. I always cut vegetables & potatoes a bit on the bigger side when cooking them over longer periods of time, other wise they could turn to mush and sort of disappear into the stew. Hope you don't mind me sharing that.
Glad to see that snow is melting. Thanks for the explanation of why you put the automatic chicken door in the people door as that what a big concern for people who saw that install video. Glad Gina put on those protective chaps before cutting. I don't think Al does that but should. My husband has them and doesn't use them either.
Harvested lettuce yesterday. Have tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and sugar peas growing. 86 yesterday love South Alabama. Can't handle the cold. Every one have a great day.
Thank you for all you do! I look forward to your videos and miss them the 2 days a week that you take off. I love the animal videos and especially goat stuff. They are so funny! I have been off of work since June 28 2019 for medical reasons and as admin approved my disability in 2 months bc I have cancer metasticised to my liver as well as other health issues. Having to learn how NOT to work has been rough. My brain thinks I'll get up this am and do .... Bunches of things but then I can only do very little compared to before. But watching your projects and your animals is encouraging. I do have a bit of garden planted in my raised bed ( Swiss chard, spinach English peas and snap peas etc) and plan to plant more. Live near Knoxville TN so warmer here. God is good and your good clean channel has been a blessing to me! Thanks again for all the 3 of you do! Love the how many eggs and Sweet Treat Co with Olivia! God bless you all!
As I sit at home quarantined because of this corona virus.(dont have it but neighbor does) I am reminded of the simple pleasures in life. Al, you and your family are a great example of what we all need to take a serious look at. The grocery stores here in Toronto,Ontario are running out of dry goods along with fresh fruit and vegetables. I grew up on a farm with all our own vegetables, beef, pork eggs and chicken. I wish today i was still doing that. Our world will not be the same after this. The importance of family , friends and goodness founding people have become much more important today than ever before. Keep safe guys and thank you for taken me away from the uncertainty we are living in. Love and peace to you all. Btw. I still think Gina should have her own carpenter apron. Pink. Lol
If you get the pond at the bottom of the logged pasture, you could start a flock of ducks. Mike the Fit Farmer did a vid on the nutritional superiority of duck eggs compared to chicken eggs. Who knows, a pond with live ducks might even lure in a Christmas goose or two.
Good morning! Greeting from warm, clouds, Mississippi ! Thad’s exactly what we’ve been doing . Just figuring out what we can make , with what the stores have . Y’all stay safe and healthy
Great job! Your De Walt circular saw should have come with an edge guide, if not you should pick one up. They are indispensable when make any size cut parallel to an edge of a board. Just like using your square as a guide for cross cutting. When trimming the latching edge of a door always make a slight bevel cut making the outside edge higher. It allows the door to close easier and still fit the frame to the fullest reducing drafts. Keep you family safe !
Good morning Al, Gina and Olivia. I was wondering if you were going to do the new nesting boxes like you did with the nesting boxes in New Yolk City to keep the chickens out at night? I wonder if the chickens will prefer the roost by the window for the view. Stay healthy and have a great weekend.
Just a thought, you might want a two inch gap at the bottom of the door stop so stuff doesn't build up preventing you from closing the door. I really love the work you do. Thank you for doing these videos.
Every thing looking so good. The rousting pole was thoughtful more natural for the chicken. Genia Al dressed up as logger was great. So can say is keep the videos coming. They make my day watch them in the morning . And as always thanks for sharing.
Hi al watching your videos shows you guys are fine. You know you are doing the right work giving back positive energy back to nature. The world was racing at top speed,,, going where only they know. Take it easy stay well.
Your chick area looks phenomenal. One thing you may want to try is a "ceiling" that is no more than 3 feet tall. This allows enough room for a short perch but a deterrent from full flight. We used to have a lot of trouble keeping the chickens from flying and someone suggested this fix. We kept a low net over their enclosure, even their run, until they were about 2 months old. They never tried flying high after that.
CONGRATULATIONS on 175k subs. 🥳You earned it! Here's to another 175k in the near future. 🥳 Man I wish putting the polls higher than the laying boxes would keep my hens from sleeping in them. I have the morning pooper scooper job.😫 Stay safe and God bless you my friends. 🌱🐓🐣🐷🐄🐇🐐🌱
Love your channel. Your a great builder. We use to build our chicken roosts so they'd fold up against the wall making it easier to clean the floor. Just a thought, that might be helpful to you all going forward. God bless you all.
Al I was just thinking that maybe you need a window on the backside of the workshop so when it gets hot this summer you can have some air circulating and it will maybe make it bearable inside the shop.
What at a great job Al. We live in a detached condo but I accept your challenge and will plant whatever Vega that I can plant in and among my flower beds! Why not... they are beautiful and yummy. Watching you does indeed help take my mind off of things. So, thank you for providing me with such wholesome entertainment. I just wish you could give us just a little more time, please? Pretty please with a cherry on top!🍒🍒🍒
There are three RUclips channels I look forward to watching. Lumnah Acres, Arms Family Homestead and Outdoors with the Morgans. Congratulations on 175K
And for something a little different, check out this lady [Sandi Brock] who raises sheep [in a barn] in Canada: ruclips.net/channel/UCmVMNXTsmxr1wkaQ5sExJ9A Whilst not as addictive as viewing Lumnah Acres videos Sandi is very hands on with her flock and has a great personality too!
Times are changing that's for sure !! Groceries are being delivered, all meds OTC and RX are mail order now,all banking on the internet, etc. Thanks for the videos !!
Gina, I like 1/2 and 1/2 too. The 1/2 lemonade 1/2 sweet tea. I asked for it to a waitress in Cracker Barrel one day. She said they called it an "Arnold Palmer," (after the golfer) because he would always drink that. Just thought I'd share that with you! I love your family and videos! Our 2 year old grandson watches too. He always wants to see the ducks. LOL!
Hi. RUclips just recommended your channel to me. What took them so long? Of course I subscribed because I love your family interactions, and the funny ways you interact with your animals, the cooking segments, and the construction projects! Pretty much all the things I enjoy watching wrapped up into one channel! . PS, I love how you pray before you eat!
Why not build a cool little playhouse or treehouse for Olivia to play in? Love watching your videos. Even my dogs enjoy watching Tanner, Pluto and Figaro play. Keep up the great work.
Al, you have so many skills to share. Thank-you for sharing your knowledge and showing me your patience when things go sideways. We are doing as you suggested, putting in a garden for first time in years. Also, bringing home brooder chicks for meat and eggs. Really considering getting a couple little pigs for freezer camp but I’m concerned about feed availability for the long term, like six months. Any thoughts? Also, have you changed any building ideas for your tractors or pig mobile?
Remember the show on PBS (channel 2 or 11 round my parts) called the Victory Garden? We all need to do our part in helping our universe thrive 😊 Take care of the Bee"s and support our local farmers😊 The homestead is looking awesome, can't wait for baby chicks and goats 🐐🐥😁 so blessed💜 Thanks for sharing, stay safe 😊 ☮️❤️😊
Hello Al and all your family John here from London England I cannot thank you enough for your videos truly always full of interest never dull or boring You are very blessed . Just a tip about the doors swelling in the winter , if you paint Yachts Varnish around the 4 edges if stopped the problem hope it works for you You only have to do the edges and not the whole door . Keep safe to everybody best wishes .
Time to make the boys a taller stair step so they can climb way up and jump down or across on something else and maybe Olivia can make cookies for the goats they love those cookies last time. Thanks for sharing.
I think your problem with the hens wanting to roost in the nest boxes is related to how low you have the roost poles. They naturally want to roost in the highest warmest place they can get. If you move all three poles higher than the nest boxes it will give them plenty of roost space higher then the nest box. This way the hen lowest in the pecking order will have a place about the next box to roost.
please Al stay safe another channel i watch just lost a mama and kid as the barb caught fire they didnt say what kind of lights they had so not sure but please be careful hugssss
Good for you, Gina! Woohoo! Girl power! I have an electric chain saw that I use and it's so much nicer than a gas chainsaw. The gas saws intimidate me and the electric ones don't.
Well it seems you didn’t allow for a reveal all around the doors. You made door fit the inside of the frame and thus swelling makes it hard to open and close
Hope everyone is doing well! I wanted to say Thank you to all the Subscribers and viewers we just reached 175,000 Subscribers!
Congratulations!
Congratulations! I hope you get another175,000 more

It is March, and we're in NH. Even with a late-winter warm spell, you seem surprised that it's not spring yet.

Kudos to you Gina for cooking for your family on a daily basis!
6 degrees at my house this morning and we still have mountains of snow. Watching your videos reminds me of what a month or so can do to the garden.

Would need very long cord. Haven't seen battery plane. Maybe they do make one though.

You all are The Best!!!!!
Hey Gina, a half lemonade, half tea is called an Arnold Palmer down her in GA. Yummy!
Don’t forget to put a snow roof over the automatic door on Rusty’s new coop!
I love that challenge!
Nice Job on the chicken house Al!
Today was a nice and fun video thank you..
